Don't use the self check out. The machines will always malfunction and will claim help is on the way. But no one is on the way. The employee in charge of the self check out is always off somewhere else instead of doing their job and all the other employees just walk right past. Almost had a public freak out since it said help was on the way for about 10 minutes. Oh and the reason it said help was on the way was because it said to place my bags down in the bagging area. Well I didn't even have my own bags and was just using the plastic bags provided. Fix your system and fix your employees. read more

Probably my favorite grocery store in Baltimore. You just have to know how to shop here. You don't go in here buying your whole grocery list. You go in here looking for the sales. Harris Teeter has awesome sales. Their hot bar is good when it's fresh. But most of the time the food is pretty dried out and disgusting. The salad bar is the same way. Only they do a little bit better with that than the hot bar. The best thing there is the $6 meal deal and the $10 prime rib. Be careful eating the fruit out of the sample containers in the produce area. They don't do a good job maintaining that stuff and I've definitely gotten rancid cantaloupe out of there before. Overall such a great grocery store. It has a wonderful Beer Store connected to it witch works out perfectly for me. read more

I was really excited for this place to open, but I was sadly let down. I'm a dedicated Wegmen's shopper, but driving out to Hunt Valley from Mt. Vernon every two weeks is a total pain! I am ready to be wooed by a downtown grocery store. Even with a relatively light cart, a gift card and a coupon we managed to soar past our weekly grocery budget. Produce: There's a very small selection of organic produce, and the majority of it was imported. I did find some corn from the U.S. but it was completely dried up and wrinkled. Items such as chives and artichokes were conspicuously missing. Deli/Bakery: From what I could tell they only serve Boar's Head at the deli, so if they don't make it you're not finding it. I was able to scrounge up a few tough bagels from the bakery, but it had been pretty picked over. Upon entering the aisles I asked my boyfriend, "where's all the food?" If processed or prepackaged food is your style then maybe you'll have more luck than we did. There was aisle after aisle chips, soda and boxed dinners but actual ingredients were sparse. Don't get me wrong, there is many a grocery store I will frequent without organic, local or seasonal produce. It's the marketing of this store as upscale and specialty that irks me so much. If you sell crappy food, price it at crappy food prices. I've given Harris Teeter 2 stars because the only upside was how friendly and helpful the workers were. Unfortunately, that is not enough to bring me back. read more

Second, I have been employed at Harristeeter since 2008 and we would never deliver that kind of service to anyone, and third, we are very much known for our world class service and this one untrue statement will not break us, in fact it will only make us better . EVERY time I come to this location I wait in a checkout line for at least 40 minutes! Yet they won't open more than 3 checkout lanes. I would rather drive the extra ten minutes to go to a different grocery. I would still end up getting my groceries faster. I will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

Of all of the grocery stores I the area, I Iike the Harris Teeter stores the most. For one, there's not many grocery store I know that stay open till midnight, because let's be honest- you never know when that 4th meal craving will strike. The fact that it has its own free parking garage is great because no one likes fighting for street parking. It's a huge store and has a wide selection of produce, pre-made eats, great deli, artisan cheese area (during the day, they have samples out for you to try), olive bar, and many aisles of your typical canned stuff. It's a nice, friendly store with reasonable prices in a safe area. read more

Harris Teeter is the only reason I don't hate grocery shopping anymore. I probably have the abundance of samples to thank. The Locust Point store is located right off of 95 (the last exit before the toll, so pay attention!) is always clean, calm and offers tons of coupons. The staff is friendly and willing to offer recommendations and help you find exactly what are looking for. Oh, and you can buy wine and beer in Sundays. What's not to love? read more

I really love this place. Im not really impressed with the grocery store. I feel like its a little more expensive then Shoppers or Giant. Where this place shines is in their prepared food section. Especially the meal deals they offer. You get to pick one entree dish and two sides for $4.99. Its a great way to get a quick cheap dinner. They also have a hot bar, a sushi bar, pizza bar, and even a melon bar. The Teet is definitely worth checking out read more

This is a really pretty grocery store with a great pre-made food selection and amazing produce! Their in-store organic brands are also comprable to brand name, non-organic brands which is great. The folks at the checkout line were super helpful and sweet, which is a nice change of pace from other stores. There is also a wine and beer store attached to the main store, and parking in the garage is very convenient. My only gripe is that the store layout is a little confusing and isn't like other stores. read more

We were very excited when Harris Teeter opened. For the first few weeks it lived up to the hype but no longer. They cater to the very same people who live in the apartments in McHenry Row, suburb dwellers who buy processed, prepared, packaged garbage foods at high prices. Their produce is sadly lacking in quality and freshness. The seafood is a disaster and their meats are overpriced. This place is no better than Shoppers as far as quality and selection and with far higher prices. So it's back to the Cross St market, farmers markets and the occasional trip to Wegmans. It's sad because the folks who work there are generally fine people. read more

This store is clean, well laid out, has pleasant staff, great variety of foods, and good quality everything. HOWEVER, the prices are all-around not competitive! The only items I shop here for anymore are Chicago's Gino's East deep dish pizzas because I can't get them in any other stores, Coke to go with them, and ice cream. I mean it's a Harris Teeter. Super clean and well-stocked but a bit expensive for groceries. I'll never understand why Harris Teeter is such a big deal. Went here on a Friday after work (around 5 p.m.) and the line was crazy long. I was baffled at why everyone was there. I'll keep going here for specialty items I can't find at Aldi and Shoppers but don't really see why I'd pay so much more for groceries I can get cheaper elsewhere. Do have to admit that it's a bonus to have a beer and wine shop with reasonable prices attached. That definitely saves me a trip. read more

Pros: Decent prices. Good Sales. Clean. Decently friendly people. Free 2hr parking. Cons: Line can be long and slow. Consistent issues with price tags. Tag on shelves often do not match prices in ads. Sometimes you get lucky and it actually scans to the right price, even though the store shelve prices are wrong. Or other times the prices are wrong and you either have to get a manager to override the system or you just give up and put the items back because it's not worth the hassle. They need to do a better job at tagging items and updating the system. They try to be friendly by having staff members say hello as you pass by. Except it gets annoying, especially when a lot of staff members are out stocking items. In a day, you might get 10 hellos. That can be quite interrupting to the shopping experience. Kudos: Carrington is a very good cashier. read more

This is my go-to grocery store in the city (I prefer Shop Rite, but don't want to drive to Glen Burnie all the time). I appreciate the selection of fresh produce, bread and meats. I appreciate more that the cashiers are polite but also well-trained - I've had carts that included several types of leafy greens and never once caught a mistake. Most experiences here have been pleasant, which is not something many grocery stores deliver on. The attached wine shop is also a draw - especially on Sunday when most liquor stores in the city are closed. Parking is generally easy and the overall shopping/dining options in the center are a plus. read more

This store is great in regards to variety and quality of products. They have a great produce section and you can find everything you need in just one trip to the store, even your wine and beer. The only issues I continue to experience are the delays at the deli counter, and the seafood and meat counters mishaps. I have been overcharged for meats once because the employee used the wrong code and on two occasions now, the employees who cut the fresh fish have given me terrible cuts of fish. They are more expensive than Shoppers but the customer experience and variety is worth the higher price. read more

We've always had great experiences here but tonight especially. We try to bring our reusable grocery bags every time but this time we lost one while shopping. I asked the people at the customer service kiosk if anyone had turned one in and they said no but a manager was there named Scott and he gave us one of the ones they sell for free. They're only 99 cents of course but it was a very nice gesture and will make for many return visits. read more

I work on McHenry Row. As I am usually pretty short on time for lunch, HT is a great option. I signed up for their VIC card quite a while ago. It is also convenient to pick up a few groceries after work. Overall the quality of lunch items is good and people are generally friendly. Two things I wish they would do better at. 1. Making sure that their sub menu items are sufficiently stocked for the large lunch crowd that comes in. They should not be running out of meatballs for a meatball parm sub at noon! 2. The eating area upstairs seems to be consistently out of eating utensils and napkins/paper towels. Those two items are why I am rating HT a 4 instead of a 5. Overall a great place. read more

I don't think I could love this store enough. It has a modern design that includes eco-friendly elements like motion sensored lights in the freezer section and an ev-charging station in the parking garage. And I don't know if the produce section is larger than in most stores or if it just feels that way because of the high ceilings, but they always have a great selection of quality fruits and vegetable,s and the prices are very competitive. Speaking of prices, the weekly store specials, the e-vic specials and the double and triple coupon weeks more than make up for the higher prices of some basic items. Their salad bar, hot bar, bread and deli selections are much better than what you would see in an average grocery store, and the fact that they have wi-fi in the store means that you can just pull up the list I made on my online account and use my smart phone or ipad instead of having to write out a grocery list. The cherry on top for me is their online ordering. Since delivery is not available in my area, and the first order is free, I figured I would try ordering my groceries online and picking them up. Well, I am now hooked. You just drive to the Express lane station right outside the store, press the button, identify yourself, and they bring your groceries out to you. In addition, you receive a phone call when your order has been completed to ask if there is anything you would like to add, advising you of any items that are out of stock, and the substitutions that were made, typically giving you higher priced items at the same price as sale items, and to ask for clarification on any notes you placed with the order. The fee for this service is fairly low ($4.95 per order, $16.95 per month or $99.95 per year), well worth the amount of time is saves me trying to go grocery shopping with a 5 year old. I was even told that if there was item I wanted to add, I could do so when I pulled up to the Express lane kiosk, I could just request the item then and there, and they go get it and add it to my order. You can also use coupons. When you give the person comes to bring out your groceries, you give them the coupons and the combined value will be placed on your account with that store as a credit for your next Express lane order. I just placed my fourth e-vic order, and I don't think I will be seeing the inside of a grocery store too often in the future. read more

I was told that if I like Trader Joe's, I would like Harris Teeter. I actually think it's more like Wegmans minus the giant coffee section with a bunch of flavors. I did buy a Colombian roast from them that is excellent though. Other than that, they have a wide selection of fresh produce and a lot of other products. They have pay-by-weight food bars, a nice big seafood selection, a sushi bar, pizza, and a Boar's Head deli. The pharmacy and less food-oriented things are upstairs. It's a pretty big place so make sure you have time to look at everything. Also, I was asked twice if I needed any help which was nice. I don't like being harassed while grocery shopping but I appreciate that employees recognized the overwhelmed expression on my face (I think they get that a lot). I rarely sign up for a customer appreciation card on my first visit anywhere, but I signed up for their VIC card and got some great deals. Can't wait to shop here again! read more

I love having a nice grocery store nearby, it was much-needed as Shoppers was the only option in the area and Harris Teeter is a huge improvement. The store is clean, they have a decent selection, and the beer/wine store is a nice perk. The sandwiches and pizza are great and I always get good lunch meat at the deli. However, the quality is not always the best. After my first experience with moldy cheese one day after purchasing (Harris Teeter Brand String Cheese), I figured it was just a fluke. However, there have been a handful of times where I've seen moldy bread on the shelves and tonight we opened a bag of potatoes that I bought yesterday only to find that they were green and unusable. The produce is also not the best, and fruits are often mushy. They've also tend to be out of a lot of things at the end of the weekend. Overall though, this is my store of choice in the Federal Hill/Locust Point area and I can still get most of what I need there. read more

The location in Columbia Maryland, is short staffed , per the store manager, by the name of Angela, who stated to me the reason, why the store only had two cashiers working on a Saturday, when most people do their shopping on their day off, is the reason I had to stand in the self check out line, with registers that did not work and no assistance provided, after I stood there for o er 10 min, With No Help, than had to carry my grocery to another line that I had already bagged. I ask to speak to the manager on shift, she was in the back doing who knows what...but at the same time telling me they are working short, so I asked her why isn't she up front helping. and why is another employee just standing behind the customer service desk, when they all should be helping ring up customers, to get the line down. She was rude vey disrespectful and don't know how she every made it to be a store shift manager. Very poor customer service , not enough help at this location. Will never shop the Columbia Maryland location again. read more

This review should be prefaced with the fact that the Shoppers nearby, which was previously the main grocery choice in Federal Hill, is up there with the worst grocery stores I've ever been to. That said, when I first walked into the HT when it opened several months ago, I swore I would never return to Shoppers. I've made good on that promise. The HT is clean, bright, has a great variety of products, and has good prices *IF* you sign up for their loyalty program (free). If you sign up for the e-VIC program, you get special prices emailed to you each week. I categorically disagree with those who say it is significantly more expensive than Shoppers--I've not seen a rise in my weekly bill since switching. The prepared food section is pretty good, as is the International section. It is very busy at traditional shopping times, which is why I haven't actually set foot in there for about 6 weeks...instead, I've been using Express Lane, which allows me to order online and pick up my groceries at whatever time I choose (I watch from the comfort of my driver's seat while they put the bags in the trunk). This has been a lifesaver--instead of an hour to get groceries each week, it is 10 minutes of online shopping plus maybe 10 minutes to pick it up. LOVE IT. read more
