I was raised in the Belair-Edison Neighborhood for over 30 years. I'm not sure why US. Virgin Islands is stated as my location. When you get there, you're sure to be met with security guards, some with or without bullet proof vests. There are people lingering/ loitering outside for various reasons, particularly in the summer. Some are hacking, selling "things", and waiting for people to leave the store to ask them if they need help with their groceries. One of the reasons people will need help with their groceries is because the carts cannot exit beyond the cement pillars. So, if someone is shopping by themselves and has bags that would require more than one trip to the vehicle. They would have to leave their cart and get their vehicle or ask someone for help which can lead to a number of other issues. These options are a major safety concern particularly for women shopping alone. Food Depot a good place to get staples and a few things when you don't have time to travel to your favorite stores. The quality of the fish varies. I have seen fish displayed that have obviously decayed beyond an acceptable amount of time and was destined for the trash weeks prior. If you go on a good day, you can get great quality wild caught fish which is a bonus for those looking for a relatively good price. The fish mongers are the professional and knowledgeable. This department is the primary reason I go to the store. The Hot foods section looks unappetizing and unhealthy. I had a horrible experience with a cashier who was the only lane open for people with more than 20 items. I have vision issues beyond the need to wear glasses and I was barely able to make out on the screen that she charged me twice for onion rings; however, I only had one bag. she grabbed another bag of chips and asked me if I could see this bag (which she held in her hand) and asked me if I could see this bag up there (on the screen) I said no. She said, " that's because the other bag of chips could not scan so, I scanned the onion rings twice. That cashier needs training, she didn't have to ask me if I saw this bag on the screen. She should have simply explained one bag couldn't scan so I scanned this one twice. That was insulting, and disability (vision) harassment. I paid and left, without the intent to return. When you check out, you'll see vendors along the wall selling T-shirts, hats, perfumes, etc. that section makes the store look like a flea market. And, then you see the broken glass exit door, which makes you wonder what happened here. Then, the cycle begins again, people with various purposes are waiting outside. It's a shame, food depot could be better if they had better customer service, management and removed the riff raff. This type of experiences is one, if not the only reason I spend/ grocery shop only in the county. I have been trying to spend money in urban communities, however, experiences like this make it difficult. read more

Higher than normal prices , They have rats and it is so cold in the store .It is just a very unhealthy place shop. The health department should pay them a visit. read more

Not the super star of grocery stores, but is is a great neighborhood store. They laugh, you can tell everyone knows each other and you feel a community really shops here. One of the perks of why I like living in the area. They really just need more cashiers read more

Great deals on groceries, the line can be long but that's expected.

This may not look like your higher quality stores from the outside, but I guarantee you this store rates as well. There customer service experience is great the clerks and cashiers are super friendly and fast. This store has everything. The vegetable department is clean and fresh. The meat department is really good the prices are competitive and most cases lower. The seafood department has a large selection sometimes, the salmon is always the best. This store even has a fresh bakery. I highly recommend anyone should take a closer look at this neighborhood store. It's always crowded and can look overwhelming but looking past that everyone's in there for the same great deals. read more

I like this place a lot, for what it is. Don't expect any high-fallootin' groceries here, but for the basics it's very good. You can get produce and dairy for waaaaay cheaper than the regular Safeway, Giant and Super Fresh. For me that's the best thing about it; I'll go and stock up on milk to freeze for later. If I'm making a fruit pie, I'll buy a bunch of fruit on the cheap and it's just as good as at the regular grocery stores. There are always plenty of clerks. There's a very small diabetic sugar-free foods section and a dollar housewares section too. There's a liquor store inside the grocery store, and a small toiletries section. Check your poshness at the door and give it a try! Update: One time I was shopping here, I heard the meat clerk give a shout out to the deli clerk, "White girl in the store!' Another time, the checkout clerk said I would just have to bag my own groceries if I wanted to use my reusable bags. Another time, a different checkout clerk said she had never seen paper grocery bags with handles like mine, "Except on Lifetime Television for Women." Sigh..... I pass by this market frequently and wanted to see if I can add it to the list of markets that I go to. I didn't go here to buy anything but just to check out the scenery, the prices, and what was being offered. When coming in I noticed that it was clean, organized and the shelves were well stocked. The workers that I did encounter were friendly so no complaints on that note. They carry name brand items and their prices are reasonable. I took multiple pictures for an example for inquiring minds. The liquor store concept inside the market was intriguing of course I had to check out their selection. Pretty decent. I could see myself going to this market especially for their seafood selection they have things that I don't normally see in a lot of market for example whole fresh fish and I couldn't believe when I saw a frog legs. They also have great prices on their hot foods with combo meals included. read more

I shop at Food Depot frequently and I find it to my satisfaction. It is very well stocked and I always find what I am looking for, the prices are reasonable and they always have a good sale. The produce are fresh and so is the seafood. It is a fairly large market. They have such a wide variety of products if you can not find something at other stores, you be sure that Food Depot will have what you want and more. If you have a large family then I would highly reccomend This Super Market. The employees are friendly and courteous. Food Depot is the SuperMarket for me. Food Depot is one of the best food stores there is. It is great for freshness; They were the only store that passed random tests for fresh seafood! Giant failed, and all the big name stores failed. And their prices are down to Earth. I love shopping there. I get good, fresh food, at a decent price. read more

i;m a very satisfide customer i go shopping at least 2 times a week , right now i can not go because i had a slip and fall and i am hurt i have not been to work for about two weeks i have contact my lawyer and he tould me to wait till the insurence company contact me they have not do that yet most of the time im in bed taking pain medication my doctor gave me i realy hope they contact me soon i realy don't wanna go for a law suit because i like the store and there pricese are realy good so i hope for the best read more
