Average location, they don't have the best produce but anything else you need is in here.

Ran by lazy people. The people who do the online orders are terrible, they do not offer replacements for items that are not available , so you end up having to go inside the store and replace the items yourself! and when you come to pick up your order they are so lazy sometimes they won't even load the groceries into your car they just pull the cart up to your car, stare at you, then walk away. I can go to another Giant and not have these issues. Truly embarrassing. read more

The butcher shop is gone! This is a big no for me. The folks that currently own Giant don't seem to care. I have shopped at this store since the 60's when it was new. It used to be the better cleaner store in Bowie. Not anymore. Now they don't even have the butchers and all of the products are prepackaged and leaves very little choice to the cuts available. Some of the prepackaged meat has swollen plastic domes on it regularly which likely has not maintained idea temperatures after being unloaded from the trucks. I am hoping at some point somebody fixes this. If not Bowie is not an island. read more

This review is based solely on Boar's Head pepperoni I purchase on 12/30/23 . I had planned to bring home made Pepperoni Bread to a New Years Eve party tonight but had to toss them after I baked them . This is the deal : Thaw out and let rise 2 loafs of Bridgeford frozen bread dough . Started at 7:00am this morning. After completely rising take out and spread into a rectangular and layer with thinly sliced pepperoni and Cooper sharp cheese . Then roll it up in a long tube and close up ends so cheese doesn't melt out . Place on lined baking sheet @ 375 for 40-45 minutes. I finished them, let them come to room temp, and starting slicing it up to place on a serving platter to bring to the party . To my utter HORROR the guy who sliced the pepperoni yesterday LEFT THE PLASTIC ON IT !! When I bit into a piece I was pulling out a mouthful of plastic strips that melted into the cheese and bread . The loaves are trash !!! I can't serve melted plasticpepperoni bread to my friends -I'm so pissed off !!! Hours of work and prep down the proverbial drain . How can you have someone in the deli department who doesn't know to remove the GD plastic before slicing ? Livid . Ill contact the manager tomorrow. read more

Unneeded Back Story: I do not usually associate myself with Giant because they are over marked for low quality produce. However, Giant seems to be the only grocer near me that sells pre-chopped onions. I love onions, but can't seem to chop them without nearly gouging my eyes out. Walking into this location, I was gagged by the overbearing smell of fish. I get there's a seafood department. However, it smells like the fish is not on ice. The smell was terribly strong, and not in a "yummy, someone's frying fish" way. More like a "yuck, is there rotting fish in the trunk?" That was not a great way to start my shopping. I got what I wanted quickly and headed to the line. Giant is down with the 'get rid of as many cashiers and make most of the lines self-check out'. I could get with that if the machines didn't always require staff assistance. So instead of just having someone ring you up, there's a person at the end of the self-checkout watching you, and waiting for the machine to mess up or FOR your coupon not to work so they can come and swipe their employee card. OUT OF THE 6 LANES OPEN, ONLY ONE OF THEM HAD AN ACTUAL CASHIER. This is on a Saturday morning. The lines were subsequently down the aisles. This was frustrating and seems like poor management. Also, some elderly or people with different abilities can find the simple prompts of the machines confusing. OPEN MORE LANES AND THROW AWAY THAT ROTTEN SEAFOOD. read more

The Bakery at this location is a joke to say the least. The baker should be ashamed of herself/ himself. Needless to say that the person baking cakes in this location has zero experience in cooking and baking. I really am wondering how this people gets hired. Must be the managers family or doing favors for them. read more

The store manager was helpful and kind. His customer service was above and beyond, he was by the door to help customers.

This giant is across from Walmart. I typically will come here if I'm missing g an item I could t find at Walmart. Although it's stocked okay when you walk into this store it smells like something died in there. Yuck. They never have a good selection of meats and their produce stands lack attention. Fruit and veggies looked warped and also smell. They need to really clean up their store. read more

Just an average Giant, I feel. Not on the bigger side, but not too bustling. So it's not a crowded place. Only main issue is that the lines are ALWAYS so long. I don't understand it. Oh. And they should also have some baskets noticeably marked inside the store. I couldn't find any and had to go back outside for a cart. read more

Small place, pharmacy staff was great. Prices seem to be higher then other giants with some products.

I am curious to know who is responsible for keeping items in stock at this location. There is a particular type sardines that cost 5.99 more than 3 months ago and since then it has not been in stock. I frequently shop there because it's on my way home. Also there fruit and vegetables section is not well maintained. The quality of the products are mostly sub par at times more often than less. I also recommend additional training for the staff in regards to handling customers issues at the self serve registers. To be honest I expected better standards in this area. read more

Overpriced and low-quality produce! I've been shopping at this Giant for ten years and watched the quality of the vegetables and fruit go downhill. Picking through the vegetables and fruit to find the best of the worst is ridiculous. Taxes are too high in this area to have such low-quality produce. read more

Meh. It has the necessities and an ok selection of items (usually slim pickins in the produce dept though). I've had a couple of bad experiences with the deli staff - one lady was apparently incapable of slicing meat thin and had a problem with me asking her to change her gloves between handling Cajun spiced turkey and regular turkey... And there is no bulk foods section. But, for the most part, this location is convenient for me and serves it's purpose. read more

This giant location is closer to my residence. I've always had good experiences here as compared to the awful walmart next to it. The produce is usually fresh and plenty. The soups and salads are average though. Nice bakery section and a decent pharmacy. Our family uses the pharmacy. I recommend the store for everyone living around here. The only comparison is the target nearby. The lines are long usually and the self service breaks down a lot too on the down side. The cashiers are not that friendly either. read more

My biggest complaint is no matter what day of the week I come to this store there is always long lines and very few cashiers. For instance, today, I am in line thumb-typing this review and the line hasn't moved. There are only three other cashiers with an average of 10 customers waiting. Correction, there are a total of five cashiers with an average of 10. I'm not including the long self-check out line. Clearly this store needs to hire more people to help those unemployment numbers. This place is a mess. Their selection is decent, I'll give them that. But even before COVID they were chronically understaffed. Their manned checkout lines were always extremely long, so I'd use the electric ones. There was one person always manning 6-8 machines, which constantly malfunctioned. It's a very difficult place to get out of, and it's only gotten worse with COVID I have no confidence in their ability to keep the place safe because the employees don't seem to care at all. I use the Safeway uo the road now even though it's further from my house. read more

I did a Peapod pick up on 6/24/17 at 1 pm. The process took 30 minutes because no one would answer the phone at the customer service desk for 20 minutes. read more

I went to this Giant one day to get a money order. I walked up to the desk and didn't see anyone behind the counter. However, there was a worker on the side of the counter near the fruit section. So I walked up to her and politely asked if anyone was working at the desk. She had this real bad attitude problem. Cursing me out. Yelling and screaming telling me she had other customers. There would not have been a problem if she would've simple told me, with no attitude, that she's with another customer and she'll be with me in a minute. After that I just left the store and called the front end manager to let her know. NEVER will I go to this Giant again. read more

As much as I want this store to be better, it just isn't! Awful customer service is just awful! Customer service desk staffers can be hit or miss! Tonight, they were a miss! Older lady didn't have a clue what was going on! I would call her out by name, but methinks not! She was the worst though! Customer service has to get better here! read more

Because Safeway is 1 mile closer to my house, I rarely come here. Today, I decided to come back. It's actually a nice store. Unlike Safeway who hires just one mentally challenge cashier, Giants had a lot more clerks. The seafood selection is much better, but the beef selection wasn't too good today. I think in the future, I should come back more often. read more

This is a very small giants but it feels very cozy and the fruit and vegetables are always fresh I have zero complaints and don't know why the ratings are so bad but I come here quite often on my way from kickboxing even though I don't live in the area if you are okay with a small store that is fully stocked and friendly staff this is your place if you're looking for a giant superstore then this is not the place for you read more

Bought a whole chicken on Friday. Went to cook it today (Monday) and it had gone bad.

Terrible management. Always short staffed resulting in long lines every day. I would avoid if possible.
