Just don't go in. Shelves weren't the greatest and the Cashier was super rude and not welcoming at all unlike other Harris Teeters. My first visit, there was an issue with E-Vic, had to go back and in and get it corrected. Ok cool. Second time, the cashier told me I couldn't use my coupons in the self checkout. If that's a rule..ok. No problem! But I have never had that issue at any other location. And I only had 5 coupons...just can't take rudeness and her smart remarks/ tone which was made to her co-worker. So I won't be back. read more

I absolutely love this grocery store! On Mother's Day I used the Express Check out service and ordered my groceries online. Unfortunately, they accidentally left out my rotisserie chicken in my order and I didn't notice until I arrived home. I called the manager, Scott, and he had Bethel drive all the way to my house (25 minutes away) to bring my chicken. And she brought flowers as a nice gesture as well. This is the best supermarket in Bowie. Only surpassed by the Wegmans up at Waugh Chapel. The service is always top notch and they have daily sandwich and monthly pizza specials that are bargains. You can get there at peak times and see the cashiers backed up a bit bit that is my only possible complaint. I usually jump over to the self checkout when that happens. A good cheese selection and daily made sushi are available. Kids will likely love the complimentary sugar cookies available on the way out. As one cannot purchase alcoholic beverages at supermarkets in Maryland, there is a nicely stocked liquor store right next door. read more

I love this store! Their sale items are priced well! The deals you get weekly as a member is awesome! Their service has been good- they try to serve you well. Any time we have had any issue they fix it. Only downside is they are a very busy store, so a lot of sale items tend to be gone if you get there too late in the day on a Saturday or Sunday. I love the meat and seafood counter. The burger is always fresh ground and the steaks are better than any I can get anywhere else in the area. Better flavor and more tender than Chicago Steaks at a fraction of the price. The people behind the counter are always helpful and will accommodate just about any request. All of the fresh made sausage is perfect. The staff in the rest of the store is also helpful. The produce is less expensive the store across the street. If you buy mainly whats on sale, this store is not pricey at all. They rotate specials regularly and when you get used to the rotation you know when to stock up. read more

Love frequenting this Harris Teeter! I was excited when it opened and haven't been disappointed! The pizza is GOOD and the employees are very patient. I've witnessed very rude customers at the pizza stand and the poor employees just take it without being rude in return. The Asian bar and Salad bar are pretty good too. Everything seems fresh. I will start off with the positives. First off, most of the workers are very helpful and courteous. The managers have all been pleasant and accommodating to the customers' needs. My only complaints are run-ins that I have had with a couple of unprofessional females at this location. On a couple of occasions I had to ask two separate females to please use gloves while handling the slice pizzas. The same at the Starbucks located in the store. These workers are trained to wear gloves while handling food, but are too lazy to do so. It's always awkward for the customer to have to tell workers to do things that they a required to do. I'm giving it a 1 star because of how inattentive and rude the overnight cashier was. He has one job and it's to maintain the front register and self check out lines. I was forced to use a self check out line because instead of staying toward the front he decided to roam through the store. An item rang up wrong and then I had to wait about 5 minutes for Bill Cosby to even look in my direction. When he did decide to resolve the issue he made a smart remark and walked away as quickly as he could before I could respond. read more

I went the first time and was unimpressed. The second time when I had to wait in line for 20 minutes for 3 items I knew I was not coming back. This store is small and it has a weird green hue to the lighting that makes it almost eerie. Seems like it is stacked to the ceiling with junk food. Every brand of Chips and Pizza you can think of but one type of organic apples. I will stick with Wegmans. Worth the drive. read more

Living close to the marketplace has been a convenience since all the stores opened. I have been to this store multiple times as the $10 off $50 or more coupons keep coming in. The store is very clean and modern with different types of options compared to Giant across the street. The store is small and you can tell by the small assortment of options. It may be a way for the store to cut costs but the selection here is not very good. As eggs, milk, and bread are common items in any household, the prices on the first two are pretty good. The bread aisle is saddening. The prices are high and marked at the manufactures suggested price while the cheap Harris Teeter brand is marked very low. ************** The biggest issue with this store is the produce, its awful. Specifically, do not waste your money on strawberries here. I have bought them a handful of times and I get home and the ones you can't see in the middle of the container are moldy. If they aren't moldy, they go bad within a day or so. I have reached out to Harris Teeter through their Facebook app and they put me in touch with the local store. They sent me two $5 gift cards because of the recurrence and said they were looking into switching to a different farm. Nothing has changed, you can walk through the produce area and see pieces that have gone bad yet the staff hasn't remove them. ************** Be sure to check your produce and all perishable items good. All in all, don't get wrapped up in aesthetics. The store is beautiful but the checkout process is terrible. On the surface it seems wonderful; the checkout attendant empties your cart, scans each item, bags it, and refills your cart. What this actually means is that you will spend an extra 30 minutes in line. It is a slow slow slow process that appears to cater to people with nothing else to do all day. read more

I'm a big fan of Harris Teeter. I've been shopping at the Columbia, Maple Lawn and Baltimore city locations for years. Living in Odenton, I was excited for the Bowie location to open. I've been a few times and haven't ever had a bad service experience. Friendly folks throughout the store and clean, well stocked stores on every visit. Having said that, on my most recent visit to the Bowie location I found a disturbing trend throughout the store. Almost every single perishable item I bought was nearing its expiration date. All the sweet Italian sausage had a yellow discount sticker due to the fact it was sell by tomorrow. I'd rather pay full price for fresher product. I had to sort through the yogurt, milk and cheese to find a sell by date more than a week away. The strawberries at the front of the store were all marked down to $0.99 for a one pound container. I realized after getting them home and cleaning them that it was because they were over ripe and about to start growing mold. And the one item I didn't check, the eggs, expire tomorrow. So I'm not sure what the issue is, if their staff doesn't rotate product properly, or if they bought more than the demand and the products simply aren't selling. Either way, HT is a premium supermarket with premium prices and I would expect the products they sell to be much fresher than they are, given the prices they charge. I still like the service and selection they offer, but I think I'll steer clear of the Bowie location. read more

I'm glad Harris Teeter opened in Bowie since I do not like Giant nor Safeway. We normally make the drive to Wegman's. That being said, this new Teeter is likely the best grocery store in Bowie. Nice produce from what I've seen the first two days I've been there, but would like to see more organic. There's no where near the selection that Wegmans has on prepared food bar, but, per pound price is cheaper though and that's a plus. And the orange chicken I had was better, more moist chicken so I'll take that over quantity frankly. Realistically, I have to realize that there's not going to be any grocery stores the size and selections of Wegmans. I will shop at this Teeter when I don't want to make the drive to Gambrills - which is often. However, it doesn't beat them, they just beat the other grocery chains in Bowie - which isn't much of a feat in my opinion. As far as the workers, they have been completely nice and great both visits I've made in their first two days open. I don't like the checkout process of just pushing your cart up. But, I understand that a lot of people may like that. Not ideal for people that like to organize their items on the belt and therefore, they are bagged in that order. Overall pros in a nutshell: clean (of course because it's brand new), but Harris teeters generally are clean stores from my years of shopping them in other states, nice employees so far that I've encountered, open 24 hours, and better than the other Bowie options. Overall cons: Much smaller than I expected- feel cramped and not sure if the layout could help or hurt, not desirable check out, smaller selection from prepared food bar. Bowie needed this and I'm glad it's there and I'll shop there. Not fantastic, but not bad. Solid, good rating. Give them a 3.5. read more
