Clean and organized, reasonable prices wide variety and good service. The vegetables are always fresh.

I have purchased shrimp, lobster tails, oysters, and crab legs from this Harris Teeter location, and nine times out of ten, the seafood has been spoiled. The prices are too high for this level of negligence. I spoke to the seafood manager about my concerns, but he was very dismissive and downplayed the issue by saying that they sell a large volume of seafood. I'm not sure how that relates to the quality. I was hoping the quality would improve, but it seems no changes have been made. In fact, it has gotten worse, as they are now even allowing soap to drip into the seafood. besides it being VERY expensive, they are very short staffed in the mornings; we shopped there for years, but the morning we had to use self checkout for over $200, my husband said this will be the last time we buy groceries there, & he was right--that was about 6 months ago (btw, the self checkout issue needs it's own review, but you're constantly stopped because the system didn't recognize you already bagged the item & stops you from proceeding -- several of these delays add up to a big waste of time, especially for $200+ worth of groceries, which is about 5 bags at Harris Teeter) this place charges TOO much for groceries to be short-staffed (obviously it's not the employees making all that money) read more

Busy store but if you looking for something they probably got it! It was crowded the afternoon we went but the 20 item or less moves fairly quickly. There was only two registers open so the lines were long. Despite the wait, it's a store with a variety of products and variety of brands of the same product- which I appreciate! Just a small back story. When I started living on my own in 2012, there were two grocery stores that I would frequent: HT and Food Lion. I remained loyal to these stores until I moved to TN in 2018. This HT location is very close to my in laws, so I stop here every time I visit. After today, this location will go on my do not go list. Like many folks, I like to order food ahead of time to avoid long lines. Placed an order for a sub today with a pick up time of 7:15. Shopped a bit and came to the deli section. Kindly asked for my order. Rep states a few minutes. Ok. I already ordered via app. After 20 minutes passed from pickup time, asked for a manager. He was apologetic and had a sandwich made in a short time. If they knew online ordering was going to be backed up, they could have called or sent a text stating so. Very tacky. This may not be the biggest Harris Teeter in town and have all the extra's that other locations have, but this by far is my favorite location so far. Most of the employees will go above and beyond to serve you the best customer service. It is almost impossible for me to walk in and walk through a department without an employee at least saying hello. I will admit that some items are priced higher than other surrounding stores but you can find great items at everyday prices. I went there and attempted to purchase a cart full of food late at night and I noticed the wine I was purchasing was not the same price as what was quoted. I mentioned this to them and after 1 minute they said they could not sell me this wine because it looked like I drank already.. I was in shock. There was a police officer right in front of me the whole time. When I said I wasn't driving and the wine wasn't for me he reluctantly told me I can't make them sell to you sorry. So because they were too lazy to do a price check they decided the sale was not worth their time. I left and went 2 blocks and made the exact same purchase without any problems at all. Also after the purchase was completed I immediately wanted to make a refund and take my business elsewhere and they told me I couldn't even though I had not even left the store because it was too late. Not too late to redeem a purchase but apparently too late to immediately make a refund. Expect to see me on social media daily. The produce section was a little small and being that I visited the day before thanksgiving it was pretty picked through. The staff there was super helpful and pleasant albeit being slammed with customers at the time I was there. I'd probably come back based on just the customer service alone. read more

So....I went to my neighborhood Harris Teeter located in Davis Lake to get a few items, including a pound of corned beef. I thought I was reading the price wrong, or perhaps Harris Teeter had labeled it incorrectly. I could not believe the price was....wait for it....$17.99 a pound. I actually verified the price with the young man behind the counter and he said that was correct. In case you're wondering, the roast beef was the same price. I went in there thinking at the most, I would pay $12-$13 per pound. Silly me. Today, I went to Publix and found it $3 cheaper, didn't have to wait for someone to cut the meat, as there were about 5 people behind the deli counter, which, incidently, stayed open until 10pm. Shopping at Publix is such a better experience than shopping at most other grocery stores. It's actually worth going the extra few miles to get there. read more

This location is pretty convenient and I'm usually able to locate and purchase everything I need. I love the e-VIC specials which are more discounted than the weekly specials, which makes your shopping trip worthwhile. Sometimes I'll stop by the deli to grab a sub of the day and it depends on who is serving at the time as I've encountered a not-so-pleasant deli person a couple of times, but for the majority of instances, they've been pretty pleasant. Their rotisserie chicken is pretty tasty and is handy for some of my recipes as it cuts out cooking & prep time. The produce (aside from when they have strawberries on sale) is pretty fresh for the most part and I love when they have the buy 2 get three free shredded cheese and buy 1 get two free Pepsi packs on sale as well. Being from the coast of NC, I don't really venture into the seafood section as I'm pretty particular about fresh seafood, but for other items such as pasta, sauces, international food selections, dairy, bread, household items, and frozen items, you can pretty much find what you need. The staff including cashiers are always super friendly and helpful, which is a plus. I usually try to shop here during the day or very early on the weekend if I have to ensure the sale items are in stock. read more

This store absolutely locks customer service. Bunch of kids working there that after couple months become shift managers. They have no clue how to treat customer. The produce and meat is not as fresh as they claim it to be and you really have to look on the expiration dates. Most of them expire the same day you shop. I bought chicken that stunk in my basket ( BTW, they keep the hand baskets at the EXIT door, not the ENTRANCE door, how ridiculous is that?), I didn't even make it to the exit door when I noticed the smell. Went right back to customer service and she treated me like it was my fault the chicken was spoiled. No word of apology, nothing. This is by far the worst managed grocery store in the area. It has been for years. Many of their employees are miserable and make it very obvious by the way they treat us customers. Harris Teeter corporate surely never looks at the high turn over of employees at this location. Usually only 2-3 registers open with backed up lines, even when people get out of work and would like to get home. Some one needs to see how Food Lion handles this. They always have an employee in back of the registers, directing shoppers to the shortest lines to check out. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. I am appalled at how my parents were treated by one particular cashier on NUMEROUS occasions. This lady is truly awful inside and out. She has literally slammed their produce around damaging all of their items on one visit. She would speak to them in a way that was so hostile for absolutely no reason at all. She has thrown my mothers money at her instead of being a human being and handing it to her! The fact that they continued to shop there after being treated so terrible on NUMEROUS occasions by this lady blows my mind. The fact she is still employed there speaks volumes for the integrity of this company. I have already complained in the past few months about the way she has treated my parents but obviously customer service does not matter to Harris Teeter. Thursday was the straw that broke the camels back. They or myself will never shop at ANY Harris Teeter ever again, I plan to tell EVERYONE I know as well. I have already gone to social media and I don't plan on stopping there. My mother was so upset this past Thursday (9/3/15) b/c of the way she was treated ONCE AGAIN by this lady she was in tears. She couldn't even talk about it because she was to upset. I will NOT tolerate anyone disrespecting my family anymore. Especially when the said employee is being PAID to be what I believe is abusive towards customers. This company is literally paying this woman chase away customers with her inappropriate attitude. My parents aren't in ANY way difficult people. They're incredibly kind and easy going. They have been loyal customers to Harris Teeter for as long as I can remember and I'm close to thirty. The fact they have been treated with such blatant disrespect with zero consequences on the employees behalf infuriates me. I will NOT sit by anymore and just allow my family to be treated so atrociously. I have been quiet for far too long. As someone that works in customer service, I find this behavior unacceptable. If I treated my customers the way this lady has treated my parents, I would be fired in a heartbeat. The fact she is STILL working there getting away with being the definition of a miserable person to paying customers makes my blood boil. In this line of work, the customer is ALWAYS right and you suck it up and bite your tongue. If you are unable to do so, then this is not the line of work for you. After all without the customers we would all be without a job. There are NO excuses for her actions or attitude. Congratulations Harris Teeter, you have lost multiple loyal customers and more to come when I'm done telling my story. I DEMAND she be held accountable for her behavior. No other grocery store comes close! Harris Teeter is not only the greatest supermarket in the area, it is also the greatest supplier of self-branded items I know of. I moved down to Charlotte for college in 2006 to UNC Charlotte, where I was first accustomed to what is deemed the "University Area Teeter". I immediately feel in love with not only the store itself, but the chain of stores, as I looked for these wherever I would find myself visiting in the south. It wasn't long before I understood that the store has so much more to offer than just grocery. To break it down some, ok, it's a grocery store. This is obvious. Standard brand-name items are in abundance. Can you buy beer here? Yes. According to my sources Harris Teeter will also soon be breaking out a "brewing" section in the months to come for home-brewers. This *may* have everything from equipment sales (fermentation buckets, sanitation, bottle cappers, etc) to actual ingredients (yeasts, malts, etc.). Ok, I'm off topic here. *Still yet to be announced.* ANYWAY, what else? Harris Teeter imitation items- duplicates the name-brand for a fraction of the cost. Like to stay fit and eat Kellog's Special K? Try Teeter brand "It's Berry Special" for around $2 less! Get occasional constipation and buy Miralax? Try... Teeter...-lax. Save $5-7!! Can't beat it. Full deli with great food. Their subs are pretty good, and by pretty good I mean amazing. Have VIC card (personal savings card)? With every 15th, 6in sub, you get one foot-long free. Boom. Doesn't take long for me. The deli meats and cheeses are premium Boars Head brand and also Harris Teeter brand. For those who don't know about Boars Head, they are highly respectable. That said, the Harris Teeter is very comparable with savings. Bread department has quite the selection. Looking for a specific loaf? You'll find it. Want it to be quality/ fresh? You'll have it. Depending on which location you go to, there are those, like University Area, that put out samples with either hummus, tapenade, or a butter. This is pretty fantastic. Ok so some people might tell you that Harris Teeter is expensive. NOT TRUE. First, get yourself a VIC card. You would be extremely surprised with how many items on your grocery list have a sale price. I would be estimating here, but it appears as though about at least 70% of all items can be found with a little yellow and red tag (sale tag) on their shelf. Second, TRY the Harris Teeter brand items. 9 times out of 10 they do a fantastic job of duplicating the name-brand, and sell for anywhere between 40-70% of the cost. I have yet to be disappointed with these. And as for a combination between these two? Sometimes you can find these items on sale as well, saving you in the vicinity of 80% down from the name-brand. Harris Teeter recently opened this location in the Davis Lake Commons, and I couldn't be happier as it is now directly in my neighborhood! The location itself has been a Lowe's foods since I moved in and was recently "swapped" with another Teeter location. I don't know the in's and out's of the corporate particulars, but think each company found a better demographic in their corresponding areas. In any case, the newly renovated store has it all, layout is great, and it is very clean (would hope so, as it is new). Did I mention it's fantastic location!? I wrote too much. read more

First let me say.. I love Harris teeter grocery stores in general. Great selection of organic products at a good price. Good selection of produce and great weekly specials. The only problem I have with this particular location is that they put the hand baskets at the exit door so every time you walk in and need a basket you walk across the entrance and back for one. read more

This place is great and convenient. Everything is easy to locate and find. This location is the place to go if you need anything. The only issue I have with this location is the deli people. Particularly one female employee. I believe her name is Brenda or Barbra. She seems to have an attitude every time we show up. She doesn't seem to have very good customer service. Ok so, I'm a hard customer and I originally had this review at 4 stars but you know what....they deserve higher. I live within a mile of this location and I am there at least once a week. Over the past two years I can think of at least three great customer service experiences. 1. The deli- I walked up two minutes after closing but they had not started cleaning up. I really needed that sub...lol. Well the clerk happily took my order......and in typical fashion people saw me standing there and he ended up with a line. I felt supremely sorry, but the clerk was cherry and served the line that I started. No lie he ended up making sandwiches for an extra 30 minutes....I can only imagine how that set him back for the night. 2. The meat counter- did you know chicken breasts are always 1.99 a lb at the meat counter. I know....mind blown. The meat clerk noticed I was staring at the chicken in the self serve area. He asked if there was anything he could help me with. Me, chatty Cathy as always, said I was trying to decide if I wanted to debone the breasts myself or pay more for the boneless breasts. That's when he informed me of the everyday evic special. He was very nice and jovial and just had a great attitude. 3. Super doubles- I am a family of one. I clip coupons for only things I need and I abide by all couponing rules. Well super doubles time gets crazy...people coming in buying pallets of crap they will never use etc etc. ugh...I hate extreme couponers. My point is the cashiers (who are like 90 percent younger girls..I never noticed this till I started writing this review, but I digress) are always helpful and nice...even in the face of the extreme couponers/ laundry detergent hoarders. read more

Young black men, do not patronize this store location. If you do, PLEASE very be careful if you go to this Harris Teeter location. My cousin and his friend had the unpleasant experience of co-manager Ernesto, follow them around the store as they shopped. No reason for this other than they were two young black men. When my cousin informed me of the incident, I returned to the store with them to see if this was the case. Upon our return I not only witness this racial profiling myself but recorded the incident as well. When I stop the co-manager Ernesto to question why he was following them around the store he could not answer my questions. He actually told me "I'm not going to answer that question". Yeah, I wonder why! Bottom line is, young black folk, just be careful if you decide to visit this location in Charlotte. Keep your eyes open and be aware, especially for co-manager Ernesto. read more

"My Harris Teeter" This was once my go to for grocery shopping, but after they changed the EVIC program, I fell off. The grocery at HT is always going to be more expensive on its face. However, if you know how to coupon, it can be the least expensive for toiletries. Additionally, when HT puts something on sale, it's on a BIG sale. The pricing system here is tricky as the B2G3 or B1G1 are not as great of a deal as they seem because increase "regular" prices about 20% with these specials. They have a good selection of seafood, but I have had bad experience getting spoiled lobster. In HT's defense, I was impressed that they doubled my cost when I brought back the Lobster tailed that reeked of ammonia when I cooked it. So watch out. The staff here is always nice and there's an older florist who is ever so pleasant. She always offers advice on how taking care of and arrange flowers. She seems to really take pride in her work and enjoy her position. Just with anything else in life, you get what you pay for. Harris Teeter cost more, but they have the BEST customer service and will accommodate you in any way that you ask. read more

Selling mussels that were half dead. I just bought a bag of mussels came home to wash and cook them. More then half were opened and dead leaving me with half a bag. I expect some to be dead as that's normal but 20....really !!!... They cost 3.95 so to get back in the car to return them isn't worth it. This is my favorite HT but not my most visited. This store use to be lowes foods...until about a half a year ago....its big and clean. Almost the exact same setup as the Lowes....Its in a shopping center with chick-fil-a,a jasons deli, and a chinese restaurant so you could enjoy some other eats. read more

Not pleased...the worst Harris Teeter experience ever! I am a regular Harris Teeter customer. I usually go to the Myers Park location. The Myers Park location puts Davis Lake to shame. Tiffany the deli jerk had no customer service. Took forever to get to the counter to make my sandwich. Finally she came over. No formal introduction. No I apologize for your wait. I had to repeat "everything but tomatoes and jalapeno peppers" twice. Tiffany also doesn't know portion control. Stopped in the middle of making my sandwiched to serve to someone that just walked up. No apology, or "hold on a sec." Came back, finished my order, and said nothing. Ex. ( have a good day) and went to help the next customer. Well....I NEVER! I probably never will again either! BTW: the bread was old and the provolone wasn't fresh. Doppelganger Harris Teeter...this would be the closest one to my house. None the less.
