This is the 2nd time we've stopped in to get subs for dinner and they were out of the sub rolls. This time the lady in the sub shop asked a manager, Joe, if there was anymore sub rolls and he very nonchalantly responded..."No, they'll make some more tomorrow" and kept it moving!! She was very polite and apologized a million times for not having what we needed to complete the order. He never looked our way to acknowledge us nor extend an apology nor explanation or anything!! I've been a manager before and you're SUPPOSED to step in and engage the customer in some way when items are out, even if it's beyond your control!! All in all, Joe is very rude! Very disrespectful! I don't know who is running the hot food department but they need to be retrained I came in there three times on December the 4th once in the morning about 8:45 once around 3:15 and then I came back at 7:00 there was no hot chicken and every time I asked it was 30 minutes one guy told my grandson I don't know you got to go talk to the people that fry the chicken this is totally unacceptable and I had to end up getting cold chicken and this is not the first day that this has happened so someone needs to get this done and make sure they stay on top of the hot foods especially when it's time for dinner read more

This review is specifically for the Express Lane Service - order online and pick up your groceries at the store, at a given time slot. We've been trying this out at several stores, during COVID, to avoid contact and I really like the experience at Harris Teeter. I go on line and pick out my groceries. I can see all the current specials and sales and it's reflected in the prices, so I may find a bargain I didn't know about. You can also say whether you allow "substitutions" for any of the items. I often allow substitutions and then I have the ability to write a "note" on each item, so I can give them specific guidance. You can also add a prescription (I haven't tried that yet). You can also add a Rotisserie Chicken, but you have to make sure you come during your half hour time frame, so the chicken is hot. I haven't tried that yet, but plan too. I've probably done this service 4 or 5 times now. It's becoming our way of weekly grocery shopping. It's interesting because I don't do my "regular" shopping there, but I've been highly satisfied with the quality of produce and product selection via this service. They don't mark up the price of the groceries, like some stores, but charge a flat $4.95 fee. You usually get this waived if it's a big order (over $100) and they offer special codes in their weekly ad too. Once you place your order, you pick a 30 minute time slot (although you can pick up anytime after it's ready), and pay online. They send you an email confirmation and then "call you" on the phone prior to pickup to let you know of any substitutions or out of stocks, in case you want to make a change. I've been very satisfied with the service and will continue to use it. When you get there, you pull up in the express lane, push the button and tell them your name. You have to open your trunk yourself, and they put the groceries in your car. Then you close your truck. Super easy. Definitely worth considering during COVID. read more

Not the most spacious or the most organized location, but because of its location, it is a bit busy. The Clarksburg area is relatively new and they keep building new homes in the area. They had promised a grocery store further north near exit 18, but that has yet to materialize. Thus, a lot of people - for the sake of ease - comes to the Harris Teeter. It has the basic necessities and they get a good amount of people at any given time. Compared to Olney, it is smaller and it feels like it has more people because people are closer together. The produce and offerings aren't that great and if you want an elevated experience, I would travel out to Wegmans. This place used to be 24 hours, but now it has scaled back to normal working hours. I used to come here at 2 am for emergencies, but that is no longer an option. I would need to find another place for those middle of the night runs. The one thing I like about this place is the parking amount. There is a lot of space. However, be careful parking closer. The driving skills of the people who come here are questionable. I have heard several complaints that there have been hit and runs here so I always park father away. They get the job done, but a lot could be done to make this place better. read more

The store is excellent, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I would have rated it higher, except for an incident which left me disappointed. a couple of days ago and while entering the store I saw a customer coming in with his dog pet placed on the upper level of the shopping cart. I went to customer service and asked if this is permitted. They told me no it is not permitted and that the store has a sign to that effect placed at the entrance to the store, but they did not indicate that they will do something about it. About 10 minutes later as I approached the cashier lanes with my groceries, I saw the guy self-checking his groceries, with the dog sitting all the time in the shopping cart where other shoppers normally place their groceries. There were 3 store cashiers around looking and not doing anything about it, which was really disappointing. read more

I'm giving 4 stars due to its convenient location in to my house. I only visit a Harris Teeter if I need a few items. I do my weekly grocery shopping elsewhere. You may be wondering why elsewhere? Harris Teeters are my favorite grocery stores and I'm happy to have one local. This one is comparable to others I have visited and here is what I like about it... They're friendly. Everybody is friendly. You go into Giant or Safeway and ask for your cold cuts sliced a certain way (and God forbid don't choose the pre-sliced ones) you are going to get a dirty look and half the time the person back there isn't too happy to be there. Everyone at HT seems genuinely happy to be helping you. That right there goes a long way. Another reason I like it is the free samples! Not for me (okay, I eat them) but for the kids! I can go here after school...before dinner...and they get just enough snacking at the free samples that they leave me alone for my quick errands. The meat and seafood quality is excellent and it is SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER than at Wegmans. Do a comparison of your favorite cut of seafood or beef. You are going to see more quantity at Wegman's, but I think the quality is up there at HT and again...cheaper. I like choosing my chopped meat fresh from the case and having it wrapped up in brown waxed paper just for me. It seems more like it's coming from a butcher shop than when it is gray from sitting in saran wrap for days. The store is clean and logically organized. You can find everything you need. They have most of the brands you'll find at Safeway and Giant, plus some better quality items and their store brand. All in all, I feel like I am at a reasonably priced Whole Foods (even though I know it is not the same thing). Don't get me started on how hard it is to find things at Wegman's and how expensive most of the items are. I know their selection is huge but just parking and getting in and out of the store at Weg's is a debacle. HT is easy and efficient. The sushi is good and they'll make soemthing custom for you quickly. The sandwich bar is very good! Grab a pre-made sandwich or look for the sub of the day WHICH IS A STEAL! Sandwiches are cheaper than Subway and so much better. Pizzas are $7.99 on Mondays. Any pie...plain or loaded up. $8. That's a deal. You can call ahead or just grab one of the pre-made pies and you're in and out quickly. And there is a Starbucks inside the store. So if you're going to be there for a while...might as well shop with a latte. You deserve it. read more

Also, their fresh sushi is amazing and the staff will make a special order for you very quickly. I frequent this store in Clarksburg Village Center. The prices can be high or low depending on what's on sale. What I do like are the BOGO deals offered and that coupons are encouraged. HT is the only store that I have been to where the self-checkout register will prompt for coupons. I enjoy coming here on Mondays and Fridays especially. On Mondays they offer a 16 " large pizza of any kind for $7.99. The options are cheese, chicken pesto, deluxe, BBQ chicken, Greek, Hawaiian, margherita, pepperoni, sausage, and steak & cheese. On Fridays a bucket of fried chicken is $4.99. Both are great deals for a sizable portion. The pizza crust is soft and does not get soggy from the sauce. The fried chicken has a delicious crispy skin that is not overly drenched in oil. Pizza toppings are also fresh and made to order. You have to come early though because the chicken goes fast and they do not serve it all day. There can be a long wait for a pizza especially if you come during lunch. The store itself is clean and tidy, but I did notice that some bakery items have a short expiraton date. I purchased an apple pie recently and it was close to $8 which I thought was pricey. On a side note, the Starbucks cafe inside the store is always a treat. They carry a good selection of mugs and tumblers. read more

There was a time when I would have supported Harris Teeter, but in recent years, many of their locations have left a lot to be desired. Expired food on shelves, other food close to their expiration date, but obviously spoiled when opened. This location's bathroom is always dirty, the dining area unkempt. I got a sandwich from the deli once and as the woman was putting the toppings on, a dead bug hiding in the food containers just plopped right in, in the exchange. She offered to remake it, but I was already turned off by that point. The manager and other staff are really friendly, as the staff is at most of the locations. But these less than stellar issues I see more and more has me thinking twice about shopping at Harris Teeter. Which is a shame, because while they are more expensive than the competitors, their buy one, get one (essentially half price) can net you some good deals. read more

I am not a fan of this Teeter location, which unfortunately is the most convenient grocer to my home in Clarksburg. Here are my issues with this location (not going to discuss price because that is subjective to what the shopper gets): - Very poor staffing. Constantly waiting to be checked out. Only 2 checkout lines open on weekends. - Poor produce. Goes bad within 48 hours in some cases. - Meat quality is sub par. - Starbucks is not properly staffed or trained (this is a minor gripe). Many people just choose to drive an extra 10 minutes to Wegman's because of the above from what I have found. read more

I feel like if you have a 24 hour store you should have at least one person at the cash registers or at least an automated checkout open. After waiting for a while for somebody to come up to check me out, despite other employees stocking stuff who saw me there and multiple people coming in and out of the back, nobody came to the registers and I gave up and left my basket there. Notice in the photo that there is a second register (number 5) with a light on and nobody there either. As other reviewers said, Wegmans isn't too far (just down the road in Germantown), and I'll go there from now on (such problems just seem to not exist there). Generally speaking, other Harris Teeters are good. Hopefully this place doesn't bring their reputation down too far. :( read more

This review is based solely on my experience with their grocery pickup, a service that I have been using for the greater part of a year. Their app is user friendly, and allows you to choose a pickup window and whether you'd like to pay before you pickup or at the store. Items are usually always in stock and if they are not, you will get a phone call from one of their friendly staff members. During that phone call they will let you know if your order is ready, whether or not all of the items in your order were found, and if you'd like to substitute for any out of stock items. Their pickup time windows are flexible, so if you have something that prevents you from making it on time, no sweat. Any and all interactions I have had with their staff have been friendly and courteous. Their produce is always fresh. Bottom line: I would recommend to anyone looking for easy grocery pickup. read more

During my last visit, I spoke to two managers Karen and Patric and they both had horrible pissy attitudes, and the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I will not be returning. I often can make $50s worth of food turn into $25, just using member card discounts alone. Never had problem with waiting in line, people that complain about that kind of stuff need to learn some patience. Self-checkout has typically 4 fully functioning stations at your disposal, if you really are to lazy to use those lanes and have to wait in the actually register lines, who's fault is that really? Give me a break about how "long" you had to wait behind, "Sally HomeMaker", as another reviewer put it. Can't believe we even still use that kind of term. Anyway, they offer a wide variety of brands of all items. AWESOME PIZZA. Friendly staff, always willing to lend a hand. Why in the hell is there only one cashier on a Friday at that? Why am I waiting and Sally homemaker for her cart full of planned meals of the week to be rung up. And to top is all off customer service was called over to assist with the price of chicken. Then the Starbucks.. The card reader is down.. Great! This Clarksburg's Harris Teeter is the worst comparing with two other Harris Teeters I encountered. Please talk to the management in McLean and Downtown Crown for their help. French baguettes and produce are the worst! Baguettes are normally not ready until 11am...come on! Get your bakers in early and bake them for early AM shoppers especially on the weekend. Produce is not fresh, too expensive, and does not have diverse selections. What's the deal? You understand Clarksburg is a diverse community and unique demographic just like McLean and Downtown Crown. So whats stopping you to bring up to their level of service and selections? I like Harris Teeter. They have recently started to lower their prices to compete with some of the other stores nearby, which is a huge plus. They also have a really good selection of produce and the store is very bright and clean. They even have a Starbucks inside. This location is close to home and it's almost always empty, which I love. I know that might not be great from a retail perspective, but I really like that I can get in and out relatively quickly. I usually only pick up a few items and use the self checkout, but I have gone to the cashiers before. I don't really like the way the cash registers are set up. There is no rotating belt (like in a regular grocery store) so the cashier has to take all the items out of your basket. For most people this is probably not an issue, but I'm justatad OCD and I like to line up my items so they get packed correctly... read more

I'm sorry, its a nice store but my God are they ridiculously overpriced. I remember when they were looking to open a location and threatened not to because Wegmans was opening a location in Germantown. They opened anyway and I have shopped there often, even though I am a Wegmans customer through and through. There is no doubt, given that I have been to the store since it opened, that they have tried to replicate the Wegmans experience but they fall way short. If you go by the store today you will see a huge sign on the front of the building that says "best savings in town." Here's the thing, NOT TRUE AT ALL. How I know is simple, the other day, after shopping at Wegmans, on my way back I realized I had forgotten something and instead of going back to Germantown, I went to Harris Teeter. As I am walking around the store looking for what I needed I am spotting the items I just bought at Wegmans and every single one of them is over $1 more expensive; everything single one. Wegmans is expensive so how Harris Teeter can claim to have better prices is beyond me. I had just bought a gallon of milk at Wegmans and at Harris, a gallon of milk was nearly $2.50 more! I wanted to take the time to review this HT. I am new to the community and my second time coming to this location left a memorable imprint. 1) I'd like to acknowledge the effort everyone puts to keeping customers feel safe. Every cart is wiped. Thank you to the staff in the front of the store who are encouraging customers to use the carts that are wiped inside instead of the ones left behind outside. Always greeting each customer that enters and being professional. 2) HT, in this location is clean. Food is good quality and kept in good condition. 3) Social distancing is practiced here. I thank the staff for not cracking under pressure because of the long lines during rush hours. Safety first. This leaves me to why I am writing this review. There is one staff that must be acknowledged. On my receipt his name was Nas. I came about 2-3 weeks ago. Young polite gentleman. Although the line was getting long during the rush, he managed to keep calm, smile, and stay positive. As I waited, I noticed he offered an older man hand sanitizer after he was done ringing him up. He greeted me and asked how I was doing. Handled my grocery with care. I offered to help him bag my groceries. He was polite enough to insist he does it for me. Being in the customer service industry half my life, I had no problem giving a hand and bagging my own groceries to get the line going. He thanked me and asked me how I was doing during these unique times and what I would like to be doing if we all were not stuck in this pandemic. I have NEVER had anyone care enough to ask how I am doing. Most just want to hurry it up and get the next customer in line. Here this young man made time to ask his customer how I was dealing with COVID-19! That warmed my heart and made my day. The truth is, I have anxieties leaving the house! These are stressful times! When I go grocery, with the stereotype that I am Asian and started the whole pandemic, most people avoid me in public. I've been to other groceries (not HT) where I said "Thank you, I appreciate you" before leaving and got ignored. And for that, I've learned to do my business, get in, and get home as fast as I can. I just want to go get my groceries, practice social distancing while I'm out, and to keep myself safe and healthy for my 3 years old toddler at home waiting for me. Nas gave me my receipt and just when I thought all kindness was given, he offered me hand sanitizer. Not only is he kind and thoughtful, he is also consistent. He treats everyone with the same patience, enthusiasm, and kindness. For that, I hope HT corp and this HT location acknowledges this young gentleman's excellent work performance. Horrible sub shop. I ask for white bread and it's not. I've gotten subs with white bread at multiple other locations and the bread is a lot softer. Also they didn't cut the sub in half like usual. read more

I have grown to like this market a lot. Con: when items not on special it can be very expensive. Pros: Really close to my house...easy walk and open 24 hours.
