This is a standard HT but, I wasn't as impressed with this location as some of the others in Hampton Roads. It has the usual items but something just didn't feel as clean, fresh, and well-stocked as the usual HT stores in Virginia Beach I frequent most often. Compared to the city where I live, the service at this location is absolutely phenomenal! Multiple employees asked if I needed help which I appreciate, and Miss Rebecca in the bakery went out of her way to cut a delicious chocolate cake in half because they didn't have one. I don't even know where to start with this location. Having recently moved to the area, we are struggling to find a good grocery store. It seems to be a food desert here (as far as groceries go). Where we are from (another part of the state), Harris Teeter was our go to place. So we drove to this one and it was a nightmare. The cashier messed up so badly that the front desk cashier got involved. Rather than handle the issue professionally, she made it worse. Then the manager got involved. He made it worse! I wound up walking out. I've never been more angry and embarrassed in my life. I spend about 3k a month on groceries and I will not be spending it on this location. I'd rather drive an hour away to another Harris Teeter. What did they do? Rang up another customers items onto mine and messed up beyond all belief removing the items and straightening things out. Add to that a poorly stocked meat department and a fishy smell in the store (never buy fish from a place that smells fishy) and it's a store I will not visit again and will suggest to others to avoid. read more

Before I begin this review let me start off by saying that this review is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone so with that being said let's go!!.. 5 star experience should be expected wherever you spend your money ( hard earned in some cases ) so I this is what I received when I arrived at this particular location! What a treat we got today! Congrats to the opening of Harris Teeter on the corner of Shoulders Hill & Bridge Rd. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint. They have everything you could want and need.. They prices are spot on as well. Working right across the street is super convenient. There is plenty of parking and plenty of space to browse around in the store without being crowded. I got to try some new things today and boy am I impressed! Everyone is incredibly friendly and did you all know that all of Boar's Head products are gluten free!! AND THEY HAVE DARK CHOCOLATE HUMMUS... You heard it right here folks.. This is my favorite Harris Teeter mainly because of the bakery I always come in here and see what lovely items they've come out with they also have hot food as well as salad bar at this location and they also have the sushi spot and the pizza with the hot chocolate chip cookies that are to die for and very cheap at two for three dollars I'm not sure who runs the bakery here however they do an excellent job going above and beyond to decorate their cakes the pull apart cakes always look fresh and have thought put into them I love the Halloween designs they have out right now including they have a killer Halloween on the cake and cupcakes set And I adore the have a spooktacular birthday ghost themed cookie cake The staff here are very polite and give great service as well this is a very well taken care of store is very clean the bathrooms are generally taken care of and the floors look swept on a regular basis I do not find outdated products here and everything seems fresh in the produce section I definitely recommend this location if you were going to a grocery store in Suffolk read more

I loved the store when it was in Harbour View but the new location is very inconvenient plus the traffic is a nightmare just to get there. The old location had plenty of parking. I am handicapped and there is never enough parking spaces available so I always end up having to walk a distance. The store was nice when it opened but doesn't have the selection of goods the Harbour View location has. When I shop at a Harris Teeter I go to the store in Portsmouth, better parking, mask protocols and product selection. I realize the Shoulder Hill is primarily an "order and pick up" location so that's why they limit the products. Why would I shop there since there's a fully stocked Food Lion three minutes away? I pretty much shop Lidil, Kroger and Food Lion exclusively these days. They don't enforce mask requirements either which really bothers me. They do have really good pizza though! read more

Unsatisfied with their response is an understatement. I often look at the online fliers for the week, by zip code for my store at Bridge Rd, to see what specials they have...particularly in the meat department. What I find in the flier and what I find in the store don't match up. Or, it's just not there. First, I try the meat department and they act clueless and send me up to customer service. Then, customer service tells me I'm best served in the meat department and send me back there, but offers to walk me there? Because I'm unable to? Ummm, okay, so by now I'm really wondering why I came to Harris Teeter as well as exactly how they train on customer service? This approach is not helpful or good customer service. More importantly, I'm wondering about this consistent difficulty matching items, weight, price, (posted and advertised specials) which is by law required to be honored due to Weights and Measures Standards. Is Harris Teeter familiar with Weights and Measures? This happens almost every time I try to go there to take advantage of a meat special. And, the meat specials aren't that special, really. AND I'm not there trying to get something they haven't advertised!!! Such a waste of my nerves and time. Typically, the meat department, by the time I return, is exasperated. Not nearly as much as I am because I have now spent 15 minutes trying to get an advertised packet of meat yet I'm the only one who seems to know that it's being advertised. I gave up after my last trip and now drive a little further to Walmart. I mean, wow, Walmart. I drive further to Walmart because the customer service and unreliability of honoring advertised weekly specials at a specific Harris Teeter store is an issue?! Let that sink in. I love me some Harris Teeter -- the location in Newport News is my go-to shopping spot. So when I was in Suffolk this weekend and needed to grab a few things, I passed this location and figured I'd just get it there instead of going out of my way to the Newport News location. The layout of this HT is a little weird -- it's a lot smaller and more cramped than other locations, so that's not the greatest. As others have mentioned, the parking lot is pretty small for a grocery store lot -- and there are a lot of other businesses in a strip mall right there as well -- so it's pretty hectic overall. In terms of the selection of items, it didn't feel like this location has nearly the variety I've become accustomed to at Harris Teeter -- perhaps because the Suffolk clientele doesn't buy a lot of higher end, specialty stuff? I don't know. All I know is that for an HT, it was below average. At least the interior seemed clean and modern (I dig the wood floors!). If I were in the area again and needed something quick, this would be a fine place to stop. read more

I am absolutely PISSED that the Harris Teeter moved from Harbourview to this location. They went from a great, easily accessible location with easy parking to an absolute nightmare. This is where Farm Fresh used to be and I never went to Farm Fresh because this location is so horrible. On top of that, they left the layout of Farm Fresh which was also stupid. You go in one entrance and there are no carts, you have to go down to the other entrance. Useless. I will be going to Kroger on College drive from now on, it will be worth the drive. I hope the Harbourview location gets a new store because it was far better in every aspect. read more

One of the rudest encounters I've had in a grocery store. On Christmas Eve they were yelling at customers like we were in boot camp. I was barely 20 feet into the store when a lady walked over near me and yelled that they were closing in 5 minutes. Then, over the loudspeaker, it sounded like they said that if we were not out of the store by 7 we would be locked in. Obviously they can't do that but it didn't sound like an attempt at humor or levity. Immediately after that announcement employees were walking around the store shouting, telling us to get in line. It was like being in the movie 'Full Metal Jacket' while shopping at Food Lion but paying the astronomical Harris Teeter prices. I normally shop here as a last resort. read more

Horrible. Nightmare parking lot. It felt like Farm Fresh. In all the bad ways. Dark, the roof was leaking in at least ten spots. I'm not really sure the store needs armed security guard on a Saturday afternoon. We were regular shoppers at Harborview because it was so easy to get in and out. We will re think where we shop. Basically they did a refresh of the Farm Fresh layout but the Farm Fresh had the best seafood operation in the area and this one is just OK. Looks like some expansion of the deli counter, a new fresh pizza and sandwich station and half a dozen new self check out registers but other than that its the same produce, same Starbucks, all the same in the aisles, same meat counter, same beer and wine section. And the parking lot remains the WORST in the area by far. I almost got hit twice. Every parking place should be marked "compact cars only" because thats the way they are sized read more
