I've been meaning to check out a new restaurant in Spokane and saw my friend post about Ferrante's on her instagram story! My friend and I both love pasta so we wanted to check this place out for an early birthday dinner for the both of us. I thought the service great - the restaurant itself is interesting in which you're sat at a table and after taking your order you pick up the food yourself, however everyone was kind to my friend and I. We came at a busier time and had to sit at the bar, but one of the waitresses offered to move our seats to a different table after a different party had left; she brought our utensils to us and was very enthusiastic! The food was also great, I got the bacon and pea orecchiette, and my friend got the Chicken Diablo. Both were served with a slice of rosemary bread that was a great vessel for any leftover sauce. I loved the food, the sauces were creamy and it tasted so comforting. Another thing I appreciated was the quantity - I feel like I often leave hungry after ordering pasta at a restaurant, but Ferrante's gives so much food, it was such a filling meal. I live in Reno, NV, and I came to Spokane for work, where my nephew lives. He told me about this place, and it's amazing! It's really cute and kept so clean and organized. Everyone there was courteous and ready to assist. I ordered the Calzone, and my nephew ordered the Shrimp Diablo, and he can't stop saying how delicious it is. We were headed to a favorite spot for dinner when we got a wild hair and decided to pull into Ferrante's. We live very close and pass it nearly daily. Ferrante's is a kind of gift shop/cafe composite. You pay for dinner at the counter, then wait for the cook to yell your name and pick up salad and dinner from the kitchen. The cafe provides a counter girl to deliver, wine, water and dessert if ordered. I picked out a wine from the gift shop area and we sipped while waiting for dinner. The Caesar salad was fresh and tasty, packets of parmesan and red pepper nearby if needed. I enjoyed the linguine and meatballs, my wife a calzone. Both were generously proportioned and delicious. A couple of gelatos later and we were done. The service was very friendly and the number of people there on a Monday night was impressive. We found a new neighborhood favorite. Ambiance is cool. The food was pretty low quality and not anything better than I could make at home myself. The pizzas were not good and the tomato sauce was extremely sweet. It is a hybrid of self serve and people at the counter refilling your drinks. This is not the Ferrantes I grew up loving. read more

1. Side order of fries for $8 should be much larger than what we got. 2. Pizza was absolutely terrible. Cheese pizza with very large border with no cheese. Thin crust that was so dry I had to drink water with it or I couldn't chew it. Top was cooked way too long and had a crisp burned flavor. This is partly because there wasn't nearly enough cheese and what was there was dried and burned. When we decided to split a pizza, husband said he didn't like the pizza he had last time we were there. We assumed it was a fluke. Now we know not to ever get a pizza again. If you're going to do Italian food, you gotta be able to make halfway decent pizza. read more

We ordered a pizza after seeing more than 700 5-star reviews on Slice. Apparently the only people who order pizza there must be VERY high stoners with major munchies. This pizza...we ordered mushroom, pepperoni and onion. I'll be there was ONE small mushroom on this thing, cut into very thin slices. Onion? I saw one string and it was seriously a STRING. Not even a thin-sliced piece of onion...it was like the stuff you throw in the garbage because it's a little annoying fiber off of the onion. Sauce was unflavorful and tasted like it had been reheated. Over and over! My sweet husband was trying to get us a treat, something really good and out of the ordinary. I have had several frozen pizzas that were better than this, straight out of the box. Our family used to dine at Ferrante's years ago. I finally went back this past week to pick up some takeout cooked lasagna and some cook at home trays of food as well. As I waited 30 minutes for my lasagna, the staff were all very nice. The marketplace was adorable and I enjoyed my time. I took my cooked lasagna home and when I opened it, it was completely burned and hard on the top. I called the Resturant back and informed them of my issue. The girl said she would check with the chef. She came back and told me chef said some people like the cheese on top to be crispy. I told her this was much worse than crispy it was un-edible. She had no way to resolve the issue. I ended up throwing the lasagna out. Between my takeout food and my purchases, I spent over $100 that night. Very disappointing and it's going to be a long time before I go back. read more

My family and I have been coming here since we were kids. When you walk in there is a little shop that sells accessories, wine, and household items from local vendors. The gelato is delish and there are to-go containers of all of their food that you can take home and make yourself. The best thing about this place is the gelato. It's excellent! What was a huge disappointment was the lasagna! Originally served in a cast iron skillet is now served on a plate...Luke warm, meat tasted like hamburger instead of sausage, and skimpy on the cheese. $19.00. Trader Joe's has a WAY better lasagna for around $6. The bread, which accompanies this is, is so BLAND. No balsamic and oil dipping sauce...just bland doughy bread with minimal seasoning. If you like to drink water with your meal, don't order water here...like we did...because it is warm...NO ICE, and no lemons. Room temp! read more

The food has always hit the mark of being Italian comfort food staples. I don't recall being too excited by anything. Order at the counter and then find a table, your food is will be called out on the loudspeaker like you're at a bowling alley as nobody is going to bring it to you (saves on giving a service tip). Dark Italian vibes with the decor in this strip mall retail spot. Think cement floors and brick walls. They do have quite a few regulars, but I'm not gonna be one of the regulars. Had lunch at Ferrante's and had a great time! The service was great and the food was delicious! Some people don't like the deli style of ordering but I don't mind. I had the chop salad and my friends had the grappa salad and the chicken piccata. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Ferrante's also has a little market place with jewelry and oils and wine. Always reliable and excellent Italian menu with tasty well prepared food. This is a smaller venue and has been on the upper South Hill for a number of years now. The outside looked a little questionable as a restaurant. They have a huge parking lot though so no need to worry about the parking. I can't really rate the service since everything was self-service. It was sorta interesting grabbing your own food when they call your name from the kitchen and utensils and water from the front. (I would not recommend this place as a date course especially if it's your first one lol) But the 5 star comes from the food and its price. I ordered pea bacon pasta and lasagna. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had a spicy kick to it. Lasagna was great also. And the cost was around ~$15 ish. Gelato was just okay though. A bit expensive for the quality and quantity they serve. But overall, the food was good so that's all that matters :D I would definitely return! read more

The chicken seemed like it maybe had freezer burn, and had zero flavor and for the price, I expected a larger portion of protein. The sauce was also tasteless, like absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Went here to grab Gelato as they advertise so many flavors. We drove back to the valley and were very upset to find out that the gelato we spent $30 on for 3 pints were all frozen, thawed, then re-frozen. The young lady that sold us the Gelato said they were having troubles with the freezer but the product was fine. We brought back the bad stuff only to be sadly disappointed again. Gelato is supposed to be creamier and smoother than ice cream. I wouldn't waste my time or money again! Next time I will go for Tillamook in the store! My wife called to let them know... the lady at the counter was very nice and said if we couldn't bring them back, they were ours. (Sorry to say, on Dec. 23rd, we don't really have time to drive back extra, mistaken orders back to Ferrantes) A couple minutes later, my wife gets an angry call from manager Nick accusing us of saying it was all our order (what?), and getting mad that my wife won't drive the extra orders back to the restaurant (what?!?). After all of that fun, they sent someone to pick up the extra orders from our house. Pretty surprising all around. We eat (and my wife shops) at Ferrantes all the time. Really disappointed! Lasagna was cold, not cheesy, zero taste, no crusty edges! The bread was just as bland and gross! Even the water to drink was luke warm...they just don't care.
