    The famous Royal Riviera pears.
    Nikki B.

Harry & David's was founded in Oregon by two brothers, Harry & David, in 1934. Their inspiration was to share with the world their exemplary Comice pears that they grew on their farm, which have been dubbed "Royal Riviera." Gift sets from Harry & David are popular, especially during the Holidays. On the website you'll find items for every budget & taste ranging from sweet treats to dinner feasts. They also offer flowers & spa gifts. (Side note: The company has been acquired by 1-800-Flowers.) Our office receives numerous gift baskets from Harry & David during the holidays. The pears are a staff favorite. The quality is superb and they are thoughtfully packaged. I typically don't like pears but I will eat these. I also puree them and use the pulp to make a pear martini. I absolutely love their Moose Munch Popcorn. It's addicting. The dark chocolate is my favorite. It's an indulgent treat that is hard to resist.

12/3/25- Received a Fed Ex notification that a shipment would be arriving... My Uncle (who lives in San Bruno) always sends the nicest gifts.. Arrived and packaged nicely! Perfect and crisp apples-( just ate one).. They will come in handy with the breakfast smoothies-.. Cheese is perfect timing for the soon to be turkey enchilada.. Plus I have a nice wooden crate- !!

I'll likely update this review but my initial assessment is that the pears look bad. I see lots of other complaints about the pears. Thankfully, this was a gift from work and not a gift I sent to someone in my family or friends. The pair I ate was good but it didn't look great. I'll update as I try the other items.

The sympathy plant on their website vs what we received - very disappointed!! (Sept 2025)

Growing up, I remembered Harry & David always being a big deal - such a bougie gift. It's always been my go-to for sympathy gifts but after this last experience I think I may have to move on unfortunately. The snack basket was ok - definitely not the presentation quality it used to be - but the plant was so sad and definitely NOT how they present it on their website! My dear friend in Utah lost her father. So I ordered one of the sympathy baskets with their signature pears and lots of other snacks. The website photo is definitely presented much more beautifully than it actually arrives - but all the items were included and my friend loved the quality of the goodies. I also ordered a lilly flower bush in a ceramic pot with an angel ornament. My friend loved the gesture and loved the ornament. But the plant was so sad - the leaves were yellowing and the plant was way overgrown and unkept - and the pot they sent was too small for the plant itself. Very poor quality - I'm so embarrassed!! Ordering on the website as easy enough and they have lots of choices and options. My gift arrived speedily so that was no issue. I'm just very disappointed in the quality this time. I doubt I'll be ordering from them again. For the prices they charge, they need to do better.

Harry and David were always my go to for gifts for family and friends. It's been years since I placed an order. My best friend Shirley has been through a lot lately with the loss of her only child. She has been so supportive and kind to me sending my daughter and me gifts during my recovery. I wanted to make her birthday next week special. So! Low and behold Harry and David had huge Holiday Gift Sets for 50% off! The downside is shipping was $30! Good news she received the gift very quickly! She took a picture but not of the fruit. I don't want to bug her for better photos. I do get nervous when packages are left on doorsteps. She was at work when it was delivered. When she got home she let me know she received it. So far she hasn't eaten anything because she said she is having fasting blood sugar test this morning and can't eat anything until afterwards! I'm hoping that the fruit is fresh and delicious. I'm still recommending Harry and David unless I am told by Shirley she has a problem with anything.

I sent a gift basket to my son. It arrived with rotten pears and apples. I contacted customer service. They sent out a replacement. It arrived with rotten fruit, also. And they sent out the wrong pears. Not the gold wrapped ones. I called and requested a refund. Quite embarrassing for a Christmas present. They had absolutely no emotion that it was a horrible gift to receive. It must happen frequently. I have sent these type of gift baskets from them for years, with great fruit. Not ever again. Sad and disgusting. I would give NO stars, but you have to select at least one.

I think today's gift box is the best I've ever received. Besides the perfect pears and apples,an assortment of cheese, crackers and candies was exceptional. A special shout out to my Yelp friends from Ireland for the thoughtful gift.

I always order Harry and David for my coworkers during the holidays. I did not realized they had a country store in Medford... I had to go visit it. It is what I expected and it offers everything you can find in a HD gift basket. I was also hoping they offered samples and they did offer some moose munch and cheese and crackers. I ended up walking out with delicious crackers. Lots of parking. Please come and create your own experience.

'Tis the season! Harry & David specializes in gourmet fruit boxes, holidays dinners, flowers, wine, corporate gifts, etc. that are easy to order online and ship to recipients all around the country. They are owned by 1-800-Flowers (other brands include Conroy's, Shari's Berries, Cheryl's Cookies, and many more). Most of their brick-and-mortar locations closed, but they do pop-up shops at Macy's department stores once in while. I got to try Harry's Gift Box, which comes with a mix of fresh fruit and savory accompaniments. Their Royal Riviera® Pears are grown in orchards located in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. Each one is handpicked, stored at 30.5°F for several days, and cleaned/sorted before being packaged and sent out. During the off-season, you may receive Washington d'Anjou pears instead. The pears continue to ripen while in transit. Mine were not ready to eat when they arrived at my doorstep, so I left them in the box for 2 additional days at room temperature. Slight discoloration here and there, but no major bruises or cuts. Slicing through these pears was like running a knife through butter, it was the sweetest and softest I've ever tasted! Everything else was good to fine to okay. Moose Munch® popcorn is addicting to eat. I found the three-seed hors d'oeuvres crackers boring. Sharp white cheddar cheese, hickory-smoked sausage, and mixed nuts tasted ordinary. Not something I would personally gift someone (no offense to the gift giver who sent this) because it feels generic and impersonal. But I appreciated it nonetheless. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Spring time discounts! @ Harry & David's.

Thank you Lillie Belle for bringing so much joy and goodness to the world. Trust. See original review back in 2010 below: For me - chocolate is seeped in nostalgia. On a weekday morning right during opening, as soon as I opened the front door, I could smell funky blue cheese wafting through the entire shop. Rogue Creamery doesn't make many types of cheese - just a couple of blues and cheddar, nestled in a single refrigerated display case, but they also offer other cheeses from several different outside suppliers. To complete a cheese plate, they also sell an assortment of charcuterie items like jams and honeys, and plenty of items in the fridge. Of course, since we were traveling, we couldn't exactly buy much, so we went with one of their famous grilled cheeses: Classic Rogue Grilled Cheese ($8) - This sandwich includes a drizzle of honey on both faces of bread followed by a sprinkle of blue cheese. and then a veritable mound of cheddar, which is then sandwiched together and pressed in a panini press. The amount of cheese included creates an awesome cheese stretch. The sandwich is rich and fatty, and the bread, cheese, and honey blends creates a somewhat salty, funky and sweet bite. While the bread is toasted, I don't believed it's buttered, so it isn't that crisp. I'd like to see some additional crunchy elements in the sandwich - perhaps some toasted nuts? I dislike blue cheese immensely, but it's surprisingly mild and sweet in this sandwich, being blended and balanced with the cheddar. Would I get this sandwich again? Probably not, due to the blue cheese, but it was great to try! Rogue Creamery Rogue Gold Pepper Spread Spicy, 8oz ($7.25) - This seems to be Rogue Creamery's version of pimento cheese, colored orange by addition of plenty of red colored piquillo peppers. That adds a delightful mild spiciness along with a flavor that is kind of fruity and very peppery, different from pimentos. The cheese is high quality and there isn't any liquid precipitating out of the spread. It's easy to spread while still having plenty of soft cheese shreds. It's a great replacement for pimento cheese and I ate most of it spread on biscuits and baguette slices. (5/5) PS: Make sure to look at the best buy dates. The first couple of containers in the front looked kind of funky with oils/liquids precipitating out of the cheese. Turns out those were expiring/best by the day I went. Further back there were much fresher looking ones packed the previous day, which is what I chose to buy. Note: Do not follow google directions for parking - instead, the parking lot is a little bit to the South, right in front of a wine tasting bar and bakery. Bathrooms - Single unisex

It is a small, intimate space where we were greeted with a big smile by the hostess and our waiter came by soon after we were seated. It was a chilly walk around the corner so I was looking for a hot coffee to warm me up. Having never been here before I opted for the special of the day, which was something with lavender in it, and I was surprised at the delicate way the latte both supported the robust coffee flavor and the delicate lavender addition. It was better than I anticipated and I knew that we had stumbled upon a gem of a spot that emphasized quality of what they serve. Now, for breakfast, I love a good gravy but I am always disappointed by my order. The country gravy is usually too thin, to bland, too chunky with some sort of meat product, and too small of quantity to really enjoy a good biscuit with it. With this skepticism in mind, I ordered the "The Works" assuming at the very least, the addition of fried eggs and ham were good enough to eat on its own when the gravy, which I also assume will disappoint me, runs dry. I apologize for my assumptions, ButterCloud Bakery, because I was served a thick, seasoned, peppery gravy and plenty of it. This is actually the best gravy I have ever ordered from a restaurant, if I was not traveling, I might have bought a few sides of this delicious concoction and brought it home for the next several mornings! Nothing skimpy on my plate. My husband ordered the beef and blue and devoured every last bite. I managed to steal a few bites off his plate and was pleasantly surprised, I did not expect to like it as much as I did. I stole a few more bites when he was in the bathroom! We left very satisfied with our meal, our drinks, and our service. Fast forward a few months later and we are traveling with my parents to California and we insisted that we stopped by ButterCloud Bakery to share our gem of a find. My mom considers herself quite the cook and she also was skeptical of the gravy. One bite and her eyes popped...she was also impressed. This time round I had the scone and gravy and enjoyed every last bite. My mom tried a specialty hot chocolate and I, again, had the latte special of the day, both were rich with flavor. Our second round at ButterCloud Bakery did not disappoint and we have decided it will be our go-to spot when we are in the area, there is still a lot of menu items to try!
