Harry's is one of those amazing finds that only adventurous dive-bar people daring enough to walk into potentially unsavory establishments find. That said, once I found it, I did not stop coming. The primary thing one should know is that drinks are CHEAP! Harry's prices pay homage to the days when poor beach bums who were headed to the Keys stopped and settled in Lake Worth and drank their lives away with little cash. We now get to benefit from history! The atmosphere is also extremely divey, which to me means that one can smoke, speak to friends unmolested by others, and enjoy the stereotypical Florida kitsch that adorns the walls. It is only fair to warn people that all of these elements combine to provide Harry's with a unique fragrance, but the smell becomes a test to see if you are a true dive bar aficionado! There's a large black awesome cat on the bar. There's smoke everywhere, and I just quit smoking in December, so that made it tough to sit around in. The bar tender was wasted though, and didn't bring us another round of drinks. Had to sit there for 15 minutes to get her attention and get a refill, but by the time she came around I'd decided to just leave. This is a degenerate dive bar, I like it. Drinks are cheap, service is shoddy, and the cat makes up for all of it. I should give it a shittier review considering the service, but, it's a freaking awesome dive bar. Its been a while since I was at Harry's on a weekend night and now I remember why. The place is cool enough if you have never been in a dive bar before and it was reeking of newbies thanks to being named one of the Top Dive Bars in S FLA by Yelp. It was too crowded for my taste and I had to stand. All the funny banners, funky décor and smoke does indeed ooze of a low class (isn't that what a dive is) establishment and if thats what floats your boat your in luck. But since going to dive bars is now a destination for otherwise curious respectable folks who want to "sample the slums" for a few hours it has slightly lost its appeal to me. See I respect that when your part of the furniture at a dive bar than to you its not a dive bar its just your bar. To feel that if your looking for authenticity, you need to come on a weekday afternoon when "normal " people are generally working and not drinking. Kind of like if you want to sing the blues you got to pay your dues and it dont came easy.. The best craft draft I saw was Sierra Nevada which is served in a 12 oz glass. Easy to drink 4 or more before you know it especially if your thirsty as I usually am. And the price is right. The two of us drank our fill and it was only a 32 dollar bill. I dont really do booze much anymore and might be concerned about getting what your paying for here as at some point one may not know the difference between say Gray Goose and Popov. In dive bars I would say stick to the well. Talking to regulars here is well talking to mostly half crazy people it seems to me. But since I consider myself half crazy that makes for a fully crazy engagement. Ex First guy I said hello to just stared at me as if I called his mom an Asshole. His glare was scary. Second guy wanted to know if I had any coke or wanted to go get some with him and carried on about the old days here when there were more fights and more hookers than todays smattering. And on and on.. Therefore the next time I come it will be on a weekday afternoon when I can really get down n dirty probably buy myself sit at he bar and mumble some incoherent shit while playing whatever I want on the juke box. read more

Okay, so this is one of the more difficult places to review. It is certainly a dive bar, borderline biker bar. We saw it on Yelp and it had a 5 star rating with a good number of reviews under its belt; however, the pictures made the place appear less than desirable. That being said, we threw caution to the wind and decided to stop in anyway, because hey it's a Banana Farm bar, whatever the hell that means. The bartender was nice, I only ordered a draft beer. The beer was fine, but the place was pretty crowded and they allow you to smoke inside, which 90% of the patrons took advantage of. They had a Golden Tee Machine, pool table, and a number of TVs. Again, this one is difficult to rate, I can see some people rating this a 5 star and others a 1 star, so I decided to split the difference. It's a bar for a specific type of clientele and just wasn't my thing. Overall, I would just caution you to not get tricked into going just because it's called a Banana Farm haha. Also, be careful didn't seem like the safest area, and the bar itself did nothing to make me feel more safe/comfortable. read more

Although it's rather small, the crowd tends to be friendly and I'm always greeted with one drink after the other without waiting. Ray is one of my all-time favorite bartenders, and I wouldn't trade him for anyone else. They've got a pool table, an iTunes and a black cat who likes to keep you company. This is THE go-to dive bar. Went in on a quiet Wednesday evening with a girlfriend for a casual night's conversation and a pitcher of beer and proceeded to have a really negative experience. Almost immediately upon entering the space, I was harassed and touched by a male patron in erogenous zones (back of my leg, etc.). Fifteen minutes later, my friend and I stood up together and headed for the jukebox to pick out some tunes. For some reason, we immediately became the topic of discussion and the ENTIRE BAR (12- 15 adult people) ended up berating us. Surprisingly (or not, to some),one of the very inebriated and very aggressive bar tenders was the ring leader in this circumstance, being the one who brought us to everyone's attention. Let me stress that we didn't talk to anyone, had little to no interaction with the other patrons in the bar, kept a low profile and entirely to ourselves, etc. It was only when a slew of incredibly drunk men approached us AT OUR TABLE and touched our bodies and kissed our hands did we interact with anyone besides ourselves. John, the not-so-wasted other bar tender, did nothing to check his co-worker's words or actions. He sat on the other side of the bar smoking a cigarette watching all of this go down. He sat in passivity, immobilized for some reason unbeknownst to me. John totally didn't stop his co-worker from creating a terrible atmosphere and berating his two paying, sober, polite customers. The neighborhood bar where I decided to spend my money was instantaneously turned into a really unsafe space, a space where I kept my mace in my hand the whole time. All in all, it is my personal suggestion that people who are perceived as women DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR in a group of only women or alone. Don't go to this bar, period. If you must, go with a man. I'm not one for telling people (whomever they may be) where to go or how to behave, but take heed. Be ready to be touched, kissed on the hand, pet, approached by people who are incredibly, incredibly wasted, etc. Be ready to have your body up for grabs and to be ogled and gawked at. And when you don't respond positively to these come-on's, be ready to be perceived as bad people who deserve name calling. It is not a quaint and charming dive bar to me; to me, it was a space where sexist and hateful things are okay to say to complete strangers/paying customers, disrespect is the standard, and kindness is out of the question. I left feeling terrible, the service was terrible, the pitchers of weak domestic beer cost way too much, and I will never go back there. I want my two hours and my $10 back. read more
