This year Harry's won best pizza. Being the pizza connoisseur I am I had to give it a try. We ordered a only sauce pizza and Roasted Red Peppers and Onions as well Both were perfectly cooked. The right crunch, I was able to fold it. Sauce and cheese ratio were on point. Definitely deserves more stars then 5. Service was friendly and attentive. Longer hours now

Harry's Bishops Corner has been on my bucket list for a while and my daughter and I were in the area, so we decided to check them out. As we entered the establishment, we were seated right away and are order was taken right away. We ordered a large pizza with Pepperoni and the pizza was okay. As soon as the pizza came out, there was a pool of oil in the middle of the pizza. As we picked up the pizza, it was very floppy. The sauce was okay but the crust was very crispy. The flavors of the Pizza were good but it was just oily. The customer service was great as the waitress came to are table to check on us often. The staff were inviting, friendly, and helpful which I can appreciate.

This is some of the best pizza I've had in a while! My fiancé and I are in town, we were in a rush for a quick snack-we ordered a small, meatball and bacon. Omg YUMMM!!! It literally melted in our mouths. The toppings were so good, and the pizza was so fresh. they were also very friendly! We will definitely be back

Slices were no where cut evenly lol

grew up on Harry's pizza and haven't been here in a while so we decided to make the trip and order our favorite half Hawaiian half pepperoni. Got back home to a pizza that looked like someone just hacked at it with a pizza slicer.

    Charred!

I'm finally done with Harry's. Over the years since Harry's first opened on Farmington Avenue the business has had several owners. All have promised to keep Harry's original recipes. All have failed to duplicate the amazing originals, though their products have mostly been acceptable. The latest owner at Bishop's Corner, however, has done the worst job, not only in failing to retain the recipes but in producing a consistent product. One time it's ok, another it's not. Our most recent order was the last straw. We ordered a pepperoni pie and the pepperoni was burned to a crisp! So bye bye, Harry's.

I dined in on a Saturday evening. I was expecting a lot of crowd, but seems most of the people take out pizza. I got a seat right away. I went for a small buffalo chicken pizza. It was really good, and had nice flavors. The garlic bread appetizer was excellent as well.

This year, I'm re-evaluating Hartford County restaurants that I've long considered top tier in their category. This weekend, that brought me to Harry's Bishop Corner ("HBC") for the first time in a long time. I think HBC's pizza still holds up against others in the Hartford County Top Tier. Although I have long admired HBC, it's never been a primary pizza place for me. But that's really a matter of geography. I live about 20 minutes from HBC, and I like several nearby places that are more convenient. If HBC was within 10 minutes, it would be my go to place. HBC makes a Neapolitan style thin crust. It's chewy and has some char on the bottom, but the char doesn't seem like a philosophical mission statement like it is for New Haven style. For toppings, I went with one of my personal fav combos -- Bacon, Caramelized Onions and Sundried Tomato. The crust was thin, appropriately chewy, and still up to the job of supporting the toppings. I'm not sure if it was the sauce, or the combination of the sauce with the sundried tomatoes, but I really loved the sweet tomato notes in each bite. The bacon added a bit of fat, salt and meatiness. The cheese was right on as well. I've had several great pizzas this year, but I can't say any of them were better than this pizza. All of the different components worked really well together. Five Stars. Still one of the area's best.

this is some of the best pizza in the Hartford area. I was honestly completely and pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste. I would recommend completely! We got the buffalo chicken and the Italian flag, and both were equally as good. Obviously, the chicken was heartier , but the Italian flag was just as tasty if not more so. If only you made personal pizzas, because, even though I could put down a small... I cannot allow myself

At this point, I had built up extremely high expectations, and I can honestly say they were more than met. Everyone was super helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was casual but inviting and comfortable. Perfect vibe for enjoying a good pizza. I ordered one pie for myself to enjoy there, and another to go to bring to family. They were extremely accommodating with that and brought the to go pizza over to me as I was finishing up. Now for the pizza. I went with the "my way" as it is the owner's recommendation for first timers. It is a red pie with light mozzarella, basil, parm, and generous olive oil. The dough is the star, but the olive oil makes it. I loved the light cheese, too. It really satisfied me, and I often have to pass on pizza with how heavy it can be. This was perfect. I brought the "Danielle's" pie with added pork to family and they thought it was terrific and were impressed by how well the pork traveled and how moist it still was. It was a fabulous first experience overall.

The crust is tough and crunchy with delicious charred flavor from the high heat firing. We tried their tomato pie with mozzarella which I quite liked. It was on the blander side but with the oregano and garlic, was quite palatable. We also got their famous clam pie but we were not terribly impressed. To me it almost tastes like a clam pasta on a pizza. It's basically just what the name implies. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again but the tomato pie was great. Our service was stellar. The people checked on us frequently and got us all the drinks we wanted. They helped us pack the pizza in foils so we could out the leftovers in our hotel fridge. A word of warning! I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.

Walking inside, the vibe is cool, relaxed, and full of pizza nostalgia. There are nods to Hartford pizza history throughout the space, but what really catches your eye are the hydroponic gardens suspended above the dining room. Fresh basil is growing right over your head and eventually finds its way onto the pizzas. That's a pretty neat touch. The best way I can describe Hartford Pizza Garden is this: it's like the Town Green in Pizza Heaven. They've got New Haven-style, Grandma, and Detroit pizza all under one roof. I started with the New Haven red pie. Nice crunch, plenty of flavor, and a beautiful bake underneath. The sauce is bright, bold, and tomato-forward with Parmigiano and fresh basil added after the bake. The sauce isn't over-seasoned, allowing the tomatoes to take center stage and do what they do best. Next up was the Grandma pie. Thicker than the New Haven pie and built upside-down style. The sauce and cheese complement each other perfectly. The crust was soft and pillowy with a crunchy underside that kept me reaching for another slice. Then came the Detroit. The thickest of the three with a beautiful open crumb. Soft, tender, and sturdy enough to support all the toppings. Same excellent sauce, loaded with cup-and-char pepperoni. The crispy pepperoni adds great texture against the soft base. And that frico along the edge? Yes please. The fried cheese crust paired perfectly with the pepperoni and added another layer of crunch and flavor. A couple of other customer favorites are the Taco Pizza and the Shepherd's Pie Pizza. Unfortunately, I ran out of room before I could tackle those. There are limits to my talent. If you're looking for a spot that offers three distinct pizza styles, a fun atmosphere, and some serious attention to detail, Hartford Pizza Garden is worth a visit. The Slice Mob will definitely be back.
