As a regular weekly customer, I was completely shocked to be turned away at 6:30pm on a Saturday. The host initially claimed there was a 20-minute wait, later stated they weren't accepting any sit-down customers, despite closing at 10pm. I am deeply disappointed, Alex! Called in for a couple of pies to go a week ago while visiting family. The margarita pizza was very good although I wish was a little more well done on the crust as I prefer a crisper pizza crust. We also had a sausage and cheese pizza, which was very good. Only criticism was the crumble sausage a hould've been broken up a bit more and more evenly distributed. I ordered a pizza to be delivered through Luna Pizza's website. I reached out to the driver to give specific directions to where I am staying. The driver ignored my directions and delivered the pizza to the wrong place! When I texted the driver about it there was no response. When I called Luna Pizza about it, they said it isn't their problem because the delivery was done through a third party. What a scam! They are the ones who set up the third party driver through their website directly. There are no phone numbers to call about the driver, no surveys or reviews to leave. I won't be ordering pizza from Luna again. I'd like to actually have it delivered to me for a $10 fee!!!!! Terrible business model. I've been inside the restaurant too and the service wasn't great. Ordered pizza here many years ago with some friends and it was great. Haven't been back until a few weeks ago. Was hoping for a great pizza but it just wasn't the same as before. The place is big but the inside is so unappealing and looks very dark and just sad. The kitchen looked old and not to say it was dirty but it didn't look great. There were so many people working, walking around and only had one group eating inside. The pizza was very bland, and didn't have anything to blow me away like other pizza places around the area. Pizza is great and ingredients are super fresh. Usually get take out but have eaten here as well. I don't get the hate when it comes to service it's a pizza place not fine dining. Luna has been our go-to for pies for years. None more important (and life saving) over the last couple of years (2020-2021). Always steady, with their kitchen, order accuracy and, recently frequent deliveries. The crusted pies, not for everyone. I like them for a mid-week binge; I can still squeeze in a beer. My favorite? Mid-week: Hawaiian. I known there are haters out there, so for you, my next favorite: The Pig & Cow! I don't want to forget the large variety of Gluten Free pies, too. I got a small Mozzarella pizza with sausage, half with broccoli, half with mushroom and onions. This pizza was fantastic, so much better than I remember from childhood. They were basically just rolls with the subtlest butter and garlic flavor. They did not taste very good dipped in the marinara sauce they came with. Luna is a pizzeria in the West Hartford center that always delivers excellent, crispy, and savory pizza. I've never had an issue with the quality of their food. The only reason for giving them 4 stars is that their beer selection is quite limited (only one on tap when we visited) and they were out of sausage (which really was because of a busy take out/delivery service), limiting our selection. Otherwise, the service was friendly and welcoming, and the food was on time (despite ordering three large pizzas for a large dine-in party). I'd happily return for more. read more

This is from 11/13: Came here to pick up and Italian grinder that was forgotten in a larger order. I was immediately met with the waitress and manager giving each other attitude about answering the phone. I proceeded to stand in line for approximately 20 minutes. During this time the manager was yelling at his employees to work as quick as possible and the line swelled to approximately ten people. I finally decided to get the attention of the waitress to see if I could my food. I was met with IMMEDIATE attitude. The absolutely rudest experience I have ever witnessed in any food service experience (and I used to be a food service manager at an amusement park). The manager then came never made eye contact and "couldn't find my order" then just shrugged me off. I hope a lot of people see this review and think twice about Luna pizza. I, and everyone else, that went there tonight were treated like complete trash and they didn't care. Props to E&D pizza in Avon who were able to get my sandwich made quickly so my nephew could have his dinner tonight. read more

Luna Pizza is home to my favorite pizza in the Hartford area. I generally just opt for a cheese pie (pizza purist here!) and it's always outstanding - their sauce is seasoned beautifully. Their specialty pies are also fantastic (bbq chicken is a fave in this house) and I dream about their buffalo wings - they're huge! A few weeks ago, I decided to try out their buffalo chicken wrap and it was an excellent choice. Glad they'll still deliver to me, as I'm on the farrrr side of West Hartford - this usually means the food isn't warm enough when it gets to me (but that is NOT on them - it's due to my location) but it all reheats beautifully. Ordered dinner for my family. Due to the severe thunderstorms on Friday night, had it delivered via Door Dash. Once there, the driver called me to say they ran out of Tira Misu and he handed his cell to a woman at the restaurant who said: "Yeah, instead of Tira Misu, we have cookies or a chocolate torte." There was no "I'm sorry for the inconvenience but we ran out of Tiramisu." It was just an immediate launch into: "We have cookies or chocolate torte." The tiramisu was $7.00 and cookies did not seem like a comparable substitute. I went with the chocolate torte and when it arrived, it was the tiniest sliver I have ever seen. Totally absurd to charge me $7.00 for that! Luna Pizza also messed up our order. They never gave the Door Dash driver our pizza, which means my husband didn't get dinner. We only received the spaghetti for the kids and I. Luna Pizza never apologized or took accountability for it. They claimed they gave the entire order to the driver. This was not correct. The driver stayed here in our driveway while we called Luna Pizza restaurant. A man with an accent answered and when I told him we were missing a pizza, he said, "I don't know what to tell you. We gave everything to the driver. You need to call Door Dash." I told him: "the driver is still here and when your restaurant gave him our order, they missed the pizza." The guy from Luna again blamed the driver and said he should've checked everything. Then he tried to get off the phone with me. I asked him: "What kind of customer service is this? You took my money and didn't give me what I ordered. Where is your customer service?" I asked to speak to the manager or the owner. He refused. I asked for his name. He wouldn't give it to me. Just incredible nerve. We ordered a family spaghetti and meatballs. Luna Pizza had placed the container inside a pizza box. Which is likely why they thought they gave the driver the pizza. But that's on them and was Luna Pizza's fault! They screwed up doing that and placed blame on the nice Door Dash driver. ****Door Dash drivers should consider declining orders from Luna Pizza West Hartford. This restaurant doesn't think of you as a team. They'll throw drivers under the bus rather than do the right thing. **** We also ordered some garlic knots, which were awful and tasted previously frozen and were tough. My husband went back outside to the Door Dash driver, who was awesome. Here he was missing out on making money because of Luna Pizza West Hartford. We told him he could go and we would call Door Dash to get resolution. We called Door Dash and had them refund us for the missing pizza. My husband called the restaurant when he heard how this guy treated me. The same guy with the accent answered and was rude to my husband too. Plus my husband, who is a vegetarian, didn't get to eat dinner with us. He had to pour himself a bowl of cereal because he never got his pizza. Message to he owners: I have been going to this restaurant for years and the place has just been going downhill. We went another time in person earlier this summer and the service was awful then too. Apathetic service and your employees have a bad work ethic. Hire more employees and hire better people! Also, I called back and finally got someone other than the guy with the accent. It was a manager on duty named Caitlin. Unfortunately, she couldn't manage her way out of a paper bag. She was defensive, never apologized for our experience, tried to say tonight was just a miscommunication. Um, no. Your restaurant screwed up, your employee was rude, your people don't care about customers. Pure and simple. Your restaurant is going down the tubes! You won't make it. I've never had the "people problems" that others have had at Luna's. It is my favorite pizza place in West Hartford. They use fresh mozzarella which is delicious and their sauce is good too. Those who like a lot of sauce should specify that when ordering. The crust on the pizza is thin and tasty with just the right amount of char. I was looking for pizza and wings tonight while I'm down for a couple of days with my kids. I found this spot online and tried my luck via door dash. I ordered the cow and pig pizza and Korean BBQ wings. I got my order right on time and everything was still hot. The wings were delicious. Really well cooked with just the right amount of sauce and crunchy bits while the chicken was tender. The pizza however was disappointing. The pizza was listed as coming with pepperoni, bacon, sausage and hamburger.. essentially a meat lovers type of pizza. This one came with all of that plus green peppers, mushrooms and onions. Not everyone could eat the onions because of allergies so I had to find something else for them to eat. Contacting door dash was a pain and I needed to upload pics but the app wouldn't letw and kept crashing. If the pizza was going be aa good as the wings, we sure missed out. Bummer. read more

This review is about what I saw in the restaurant and not the food. The place is short-staffed and there's only one woman taking orders and serving tables. She was extremely overworked and I know she's not getting compensated enough for that. The chef was giving her major attitude and yelling at her in front of customers. We could hear him barking at her from the back. I saw her wipe her tears and try to keep her composure but she was obviously very stressed and kept messing up orders. I'm trying to be understanding and forgiving in the current climate with restaurants and everyone trying to do their best. Given the current pandemic though, I didn't feel that Luna was putting in the effort. I came here one evening to pick up a pizza and bring it back home. Everyone has made their own decisions about comfort level during the pandemic. With that, I typically expect restaurants to act more conservatively to accommodate all types of customers. When I walked in, some of the staff preparing food wasn't wearing masks and many of those that were were wearing the inappropriately. There was also a brief argument between the workers about a specific order that had been sent out for delivery. It all seemed a little unprofessional. I understand that this might be a reflection on the workers themselves and not the restaurant, but I would expect management to help inforce some basic rules, especially those regarding sanitation and mask policies. In addition to the questionable precautions that were being taken, the pizza was average. I had ordered a cheese pie, and I was underwhelmed--the sauce was bland and crust a little too soft for my liking. It might be unfair to judge Luna during a pandemic and holding it to new standards, but from my take out experience, I don't think I'll be coming back to give it another try. read more

The clams were all cut up into bits and pieces which had me questioning whether they were fresh or canned clams. The excessively rubbery texture of the clams was equally questionable. Worse yet, the pizza was soggy!!! It was as if they hadn't properly dried the clams and dumped it all on top of the dough to be baked. The crust was lackluster--too pasty, white and doughy. There was neither enough crisp nor enough chew as is characteristic of typical pies. I felt I had standard expectations for this chain, but ultimately even those expectations were misplaced. This is real pizza for me. Many years ago, before I could appreciate real pizza, there used to be one closer to home. When I found out there was a location in West Hartford, I really wanted to try it but the city's parking can be horrendous. Anyway, stopped in today for a pepperoni/sausage combo and I must say it's going to be hard going back to the fake stuff. Luna's pizza is really delicious. That's the only reason I still go there. They cannot get out of their own way. Today, I ordered 5 items to pick up and asked they be brought out to the car - an option they offer when you order through their website. When I called upon arrival, the woman who answered the phone sounded like I was crazy and asked me (with a tone) if I was coming in to get it. Rather than argue, I went in. A sweet young lady spent several minutes looking around for my order and brings me three boxes asking if I need help carrying them out. Well, I actually wanted them brought out to me so I wouldn't have to come in, but first I had to ask where the other two items were. The time before, I ordered delivery which estimated a wait of 75 minutes. I waited 90 minutes and called when I was told it was on its way. An order arrives that was not my order. I sent the driver away with that order and called again. I was told my order was not in fact ready and it would be best if we picked it up. Mind you, I had already paid a tip for a driver. Outside of the pizza, I have found the food to be okay, but not amazing. Wings, meatballs, calamari are all just ok. The Caesar salad is definitely not worth $11 - it's just romaine, croutons and dressing. With unreliable delivery that takes forever, the aggravation of driving into the center for pick up, and the general chaos within the kitchen, I'm not sure I am going to continue to order from here. Angelina's has good pizza, great sandwiches and the people are so friendly. They never mess up an order. Joeys Pizza Pie is also really good all around and easier to park and pick up from. read more

Luna Pizza is still my in town go to pizza place! The crust is super thin (which I love) and the bottom isn't super charred. I recently ordered delivery from here for what seems to be my weekly take out pizza during these times. I ordered two pizzas (the buffalo chicken and a white salmon caper pizza), a calzone, wings and 3 mini cannolis. The wings were great! We got italian style and they were perfectly fried (honestly they should make fried chicken like this!). The buffalo chicken pizza was good as usual (still with the breaded chicken which I love). The rogue salmon pizza was also surprisingly good! All the flavors worked perfectly. With this being said, the calzone was disappointing. It had all the components of a great calzone (fresh mozz, ricotta and filling!), but the filling wasn't well dispersed. The sausage and onion was only by the crease and the mozz by the fold. I would probably not get it again since I love the pizza so much. The mini cannolis were great too! I was very pleased that they secured the cannolis down to the plate with more filling so they didn't get crushed or move around during transit. I thought it was a nice touch.
