My husband and I previously left a review back in early June as we were disappointed after our meal for a special occasion. Harry's responded and genuinely asked us to contact them so they could see what they could do better, so in fairness we did so as we never want to leave a negative review and then not give the restaurant the chance to make it right if they are willing. I spoke with the manager, John, who took the time to listen, and then asked if we would consider coming back so they could make it right for us. We are delighted to say our meal was outstanding from the warm bread, to our steak and lobster, to both our sides and an exquisite dessert. Our steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Our Cocktails were both delicious and our waiter was wonderful. It's not only a great meal that will have us return once again to Harry's, but the fact that the restaurant truly cared about our experience wanting to make it right, which showed us compassion and integrity. Therefore, it is only fair to update our review and perhaps classify our previous experience as just an off day, but Harry's has more than made our experience exceptional this time, and we will certainly be dining there once again to enjoy a delicious meal! read more

Another great meal at Harry's. Though we had a Friday night reservation we had to wait a bit for a table-to say they were crowded was an understatement. They say a company is only as good as the people who represent it-that's why I am giving five stars. Our waitress was top notch-personable, knew the menu very well, and very attentive. I took my to Harry's Savoy Grill for our wedding anniversary. We had reservations in dining room section and it was pretty busy for a weekday because there was a very large group dining. We had a little wait for a server to see us but we didn't mind as we looked over the menu. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our requests. Attentive waiter thru our two hour lunch! If it wasn't a rainy day we would have been seated on the covered patio!! We were there for Harry's raw oyster special on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The food was inconsistent, the dress code was confusing and not enforced, and the service was underwhelming. For the price, there are much better options if you're willing to drive a bit farther. Overall Ratings: * Restaurant: 3/5 * Service: 2/5 * Food: 3/5 * Parking: Free parking lot Restaurant Atmosphere: The restaurant looks impressive from the outside, but the interior feels dated. When we made our reservation--and even received a reminder 24 hours before--we were informed of a "Smart Casual" dress code. However, upon arrival, nearly half the guests were in jeans and t-shirts, making it clear that the policy is not enforced. Service: We were seated promptly, but our waitress lacked engagement, and the service felt very average. In a fine dining establishment at this price point, I would expect at least a brief rundown of the menu or daily specials--neither of which were provided. What We Ordered: -New England Clam Chowder - Just okay, and served lukewarm. -French Onion Soup - Overly salty and tasted like it was microwaved. -Harry's Signature Filet Oscar - While the steak itself was cooked perfectly, the béarnaise sauce was just average. We substituted asparagus for broccoli rabe, which was completely bland, lacking even a sprinkle of salt or pepper. The "jumbo lump" crab meat was a letdown--it tasted like canned crab meat, lacked freshness, and felt like an afterthought on the plate. For a $70 "signature dish," this was extremely disappointing. -Prime Rib - This was actually very good, and the dipping sauce complemented it well. However, it only came with au gratin potatoes--no vegetables, which felt incomplete for an entrée at this level. Final Thoughts: The experience reminded me of Creed's in King of Prussia--a restaurant that tries to be fine dining but seems unsure of its identity. The lack of dress code enforcement, average food quality, and poor attention to detail make it hard to justify the high prices. Came here via recommendations from reddit and tried the lunch special- 2 for $25 prix fixe. Besides the complimentary hot bread and butter, we got the clam chowder and rib tips sandwich , and clam chowder and salmon and shrimp. Everything tasted great! The coconut sorbet was also refreshing after the meal. Husband got the $2 oysters for Thursdays which he said were plump and delicious. I recently had a small memorial luncheon of around 60 people at Harry's Savoy Grill recently and I highly recommend their banquet facilities. Where to start. Well... the food is pretty good as we had the 45 day aged Ribeye with Lobster Mashed Potatoes, Blueberry Cobbler and Cheesecake. Honestly the portions are just so-so, but we did split the 18oz steak making it half reasonable. Our service wasn't all that great. My Wife (her birthday dinner) got a dirty beer glass and just had to drink it from the bottle. We weren't attended to all that great and on a not too busy Halloween night! Requests to fill the water plus an overly long pause to bring the desert after we sat waiting a long time. Then the topper! Leaking toilet plumbing with green buildup where you know it's been like this for a good long time! One of the three urinals in the Men's room had an "out of service tag" on it (photos). Luckily it wasn't crazy busy but this was on the ballroom side where they cater, etc... Unacceptable for a place that hosts major events and charges a premium to dine. Do better!!! We've been to Harry's many, many times. We all loved the prime rib. It was generally very tender and flavorful. The best around. Unfortunately something has changed. I've never been served any steak product that was tougher and chewier than what they served as "prime" rib. Completely inedible. They brought me another piece and it wasn't much better. Lots of sinew. Yuck. Got a filet instead. Cooked wrong and still chewy. Not as bad but I've had better filet from Acme. Even the beef in the soup was chewy. Sides are mid. Mashed potatoes tasted old. The au gratin potatoes tasted bitter, very dry and old. A box of them from the store would be better. By the time my steak returned the sides were cold. The manager even noted it didn't look right. I guess their chef can't tell good beef from bottom-tier dog food. Wedge salad was good and the desserts were tiny but decent. Service was good by bussers others. Our server often disappeared for a long time and there was almost no one in the restaurant. $240 with no drinks for some of the worst steak I've ever been served in a restaurant. Ambiance is nice and the restaurant appeared to be clean. Staff were friendly. It's going to be a long time before I return. read more

I have nothing negative to report here. My bf took me here for my birthday. The grilled scallops are to die for. My bf always gets the prime rib and it never disappoints. If you're looking for a night out, this is a great option. It is a bit pricey but well worth it. We paid $140 for dinner on a Friday night for two of us with 2 alcoholic beverages each and an appetizer. Reservations recommended. They are pretty busy almost any night of the week. Harry's has definitely gone downhill. Used to be a place where one had a top tier experience. Tonight, our "greeting host" wore a graphic t shirt instead of having a semi classic appearance. That should have been our first clue. French onion soup was overly salty. Wedge salad was yummy. Prime rib served medium rare, as ordered, but almost no marbling in the meat, tougher than expected. Fabulous prime rib and steaks. the clam linguini had a pile of clams and and not too much sauce, unlike others that serve noodles in cream broth with a few clams. Absolutely one of the better crab patties I've eaten. Raw bar was tops, oysters and clams. Servers at both lunch and dinner were attentive and on point. The vibe is an old school restaurant that doesn't update the decor because it doesn't have to. Although they recommend a smart casual dress code on the open table reservation system, it's causal but not sloppy. I was there with two girlfriends on dec 15th and my bag got stolen from the chair I was sitting. When I was on my way home I realized my wallet was missing. It happened after we all paid the bill. I returned to the restaurant and the manager helped me call the police to do the report. They asked for my email but never heard from them. After that, I never heard back from the manager to apologize or for anything. Terrible experience and customer support. Be careful there you are on your own. read more

I had contacted Andy to set up a reservation for 10 to celebrate my husband's birthday with family. He was very helpful and worked with the pastry chef to create a delicious birthday cake especially for the occasion. We arrived the night of the event and enjoyed the best food Harry's had to offer from hor'dourves, dinner and a special birthday cake (clams casino, calamari, prime rib, salmon, filet mignon, brussel sprouts, the bacon/horseradish mashed potatoes, and the salads). Have eaten here many times and always great food. I stopped for lunch today and how very disappointing it was. The French Onion and Clam Chowder soups were excellent. The Caesar salad with chicken was what you would expect. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes were flavorless and not one single lump of crab to be found. It wasn't even lump, let alone jumbo lump. The apple endive salad was inedible. There was no brown butter thyme vinaigrette on the salad nor were the candied walnuts actually candied. Our Brussels sprouts were crunchy and extremely dry. I couldn't eat those either. We weren't charged for the Brussels, but how disappointing. Over $100 for lunch for three (one being only a chicken caesar salad) that had multiple inedible items is pretty bad. I guess I'll be rethinking Harry's as a dining option. Sure, mistakes happen but this was one of the worst meals I have ever had in what is supposed to be a fine dining establishment. Jaimie in the bar/grill on Saturday night is all you all you need for a perfect experience. She makes eating out the thing that makes you enjoy "eating out". Harrys consistently serves great food, and if you grab a seat in the bar you can chill on either menu and not feel like a fine dining date , and sitting up straight. I treated my friend to a birthday dinner at Harry Savoy Grill and it was a great choice. The restaurant was busy, it was for Saturday evening before Mother's Day', but they respected our reservation and gave us a nice booth. Our server Nick was awesome, he was courteous and attentive and checked on us often. The food was great.We shared the clam casino appetizer, which had big chunks of bacon, we sopped up the juice and butter with the bread Nick brought us. We shared our entrees: the crab cakes with potato salad and the scallops with jasmine rice and green apple. The scallops were cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths. The food took some time to come out but it was worth the wait. I almost had to order another appetizer to hold me and my little one inside me down till entrees came out. We finished with splitting the banana tres leches dessert, which was rich, sweet and heavenly. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. I def recommend this place for a special occasion or a treat, perfect for a date or celebration. It can get a bit loud so keep that in mind. Great service. Nice ambiance. I've had many great experiences with the taste of the entrees during prior visits, however this evening was disappointment after disappointment. Going through the entrance, there was a foul odor, reminded me of mold and/or a litter box, and it lingered all night. We selected 4 different steak entrees, and only 1 met our expectations, the other 3 were "SMH." Even the appetizers weren't on par, except the asparagus and Brussel sprouts. Steaks were chewy, hard, and/or the flavor was just off. Even the bread disappointed! Usually the basket is full of warm and soft carbs, it was hard and brittle this night. Hubby and I went to Harry's Savoy Grill for our 25th anniversary for a treat for ourselves. We had talked about going there for several years but always like it's a little to pricey but it's our 25th anniversary so why not splurge on ourselves, plus a lady at work said you have go the food is so good and what better time then this anniversary it's a milestone. We went on a Tuesday not busy at all which I like. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions, he even made recommendations. He took the time to explain the difference in the sauces they offer. He even gave us his option on the appetizers they offer. For appetizers we got the calamari and clams casino our waiter recommended. I got maybe 5-6 pieces of calamari before hubby had it all gone. The clams casino was okay. We both preferred the calamari over the clams casino. For our main dish hubby had the braised short ribs which came with whipped potatoes and carrots. I got the New York Strip Oscar Style. I didn't order any sides because the Oscar style comes with Lump crab meat and asparagus in a sauce. Our meals were delicious. My steak was so big I ended up bringing half of it home. For dessert was had the white chocolate bread pudding and the bananas tres leches. Both were very good but the tres leches was a little better. The tres leches they served with candles and on a plate that said Happy Anniversary. We did spend a lot of money but it was worth it. If you want old-skool steakhouse this is your place. It's a venerable location in Claymont with the ambience of a club style restaurant; no tablecloths, some booths and a bar on a white tiled floor. The menu is steak, filet, pork chop, lamb, and the reknown prime rib. There was surf-turf style things but I ignore fish at steakhouses. So I didn't pay attention. You can get a medium cut, a large cut or on Sunday, a Sunday roast package of caesar salad, real, hand made, delicious mashed potatoes and prime rib and creme brulee dessert (no substitutions.) Sides such as spinach or brussels sprouts are a la carte. Portions are generous; I had the smaller prime rib cut, and couldn't finish half nor 2/3 of the potatoes. The potatoes were fresh, had a few lumps (perfect, you need that to make sure it's really fresh mashed potato) and they were nicely hot but after being warned my plate was hot (oh how I wish it was) the prime rib was lukewarm. But I can't take off a star for this because I never EVER get hot food in the US anymore. Either the waitstaff is too busy due to low staffing or they don't like carrying hot plates. After a few bites, the fat was congealing. It's also served swimming in "au jus" (really, that's just "jus"= "juice" because "au" means "with" but everyone says it "au jus" so whatever.) I prefer less "jus". I don't like a lake on my plate. I am probably in the minority on this. Bread was served with a few dishes of butter. Very good crusty rolls. Not refilled but once around was fine. My diet Coke was flat. I'm giving it four stars: attentive friendly service, food was priced at what you'd expect at a steak house, and it was ok but there was little flavor and it's pretty ordinary. However considering the relative quality of restaurants out here, I'd say it's one of the better ones. If my prime rib had been hotter, I'd have liked it better, as it was, pretty tasteless. Summary: very reliable, your place to take Mom and Dad for holidays or birthdays if they like steak or prime rib. read more
