I actually found Pacific Breeze on Yelp and went through their work on IG before we decided to hire Sal Jr. to create a paid landscape design for us. We felt that this was worth the money and felt like he really heard what we wanted and came back with lots of options for us. We loved what he designed that we decided to move forward with having Pacific Breeze implement the design. From there, we worked with our project managers Thomas and Jose - who kept our project moving. They were both super professional, responsive, and flexible along the way with changes we wanted to make once the design started to come to life. The team came dressed in their uniforms daily and made a point to clean up at the end of each day and kept things as tidy as possible. It was truly the little things that made the difference! We have neighbors having landscape work done, and their crew have left trash in front of their house for weeks on end. This was not the case with Pacific Breeze. Trash was always hauled away quickly. They were were extremely collaborative and helpful. We had the same people (Sal Sr. + Ricardo) generally show up everyday and got to know the team working on our front yard, backyard, deck build, hot tub assembly + installation, astroturf, fountain install, succulent garden, new front stairs, lighting, timers, zen flagstone garden path, string lights, all plants, mulching, new cement planters, feature wall, California room, and more. We had a big job! And were really thrilled with how it all turned out. I was a little reluctant to post a review, but I feel like over time, there are things that keep popping up that make me unhappy with some aspect of the work done. I was hoping based on the reviews the work would be high quality, but it was not entirely. I got my driveway and garage redone. I also had them install a sump pump in my backyard for drainage. They weren't the cheapest but we're willing to work with me to come out with a reasonable price. I'd like to think I'm a reasonable person, but some things were inexcusable, especially because of the amount of money we pay to get this work done. Pros: - Driveway came out great. - After a few rains, it seems like water is not getting into my garage anymore - Jose was pretty responsive Issues: - They had to repour my garage again because of water intrusion. This was the main reason for getting this work done. When they did it, they added a fairly large slope that surprised me. I know a slope was expected but this was pretty extreme in my view. Props on them coming out to redo it, but it added an additional month or so. - the concrete stairs were pretty poor. Whoever did the framing did a bad job doing it because they came out crooked. They also encased a sewage line within the stairs. I brought this up during the pour and they still covered it with concrete. They could've done a better job while framing them. Also, when repouring the garages they decided not to redo the stairs again, which meant that the last stair is at a completely different height than the others. It always catches everyone off guard and it's bound to cause people to lose their balance. - the trenches were not backfilled appropriately. They did not compact the dirt back. Now we notice pretty extreme dips in the trenches. When it rains, you start to sink in because of the lack of compaction. - Garage door railing was damaged. They came out to fix it once, but the door kept failing to close after a few times. The man they sent out to fix it the first time came back and said that he did it right the first time but it clearly was not working. He was insinuating that I broke it again somehow, but you can still see the damage from the bent railing and the loose mounting caused by the excavation. I had to have some other garage door company come and fix it. They added shims to make sure it won't fall out of the railing again and added more bracing since it looked like the initial bracing was damaged. Pacific Breeze did compensate me back here. There were other small things as well, but these were my main issues. Overall, they did ok work. They did come out to address a few things, but I had to ask them to do it. The driveway came out great, but I was really disappointed in everything else. I'm constantly reminded everyday by the stairs and the way my landscaping is completely uneven now. I'd give them an overall of 2.5/5. read more

This is an update to my earlier review on the design services. After they completed the design to renovate the back yard we proceeded to hire Pacific Breeze to do the work. We figured since they did the design it would make sense for them to do the renovation in terms of a one stop shop with the hopes that construction will go smooth. It's been about six months since they were done so I felt it would be appropriate to complete the review after some time has pass to make sure the work they did still held up. Overall we are please with the outcome of the work. I can say the backyard looks just as beautiful today as it did six months ago. The idea of spending any amount of money to get my front yard into shape was scary. So much so that I put it off... for years. Also, I didn't have any trusted references so I was worried about finding the right company. But after months of working from home and staring out the window at the wasteland that was my front yard - and catching the occasional judgmental looks from my neighbors, I finally broke down and got some quotes. First quote from company #1 was within my budget but he gave me a weird vibe, like he knew he was underbidding to get the job which meant I was probably going to get hit with a surprise half way through. That's when I found Pacific Breeze on Yelp. I liked that they had several different portfolios showing their work. Their "Drought Tolerant Landscape Design" portfolio caught my eye in both style and price range, so I requested a quote. Sal replied right away and Jose was at my door not long after. Jose was thorough, taking measurements and notes and listening to my ideas. The initial estimate he provided was more than my budget but we worked together to get it where it needed to be. They started on time and spent a few more days than they projected, but that was fine by me. We even had a meeting at the nursery so I could pick out my plants! They listened to my ideas and concerns every step of the way and wanted to make sure that I was happy with their work. It probably didn't help that I was watching them work all day, everyday and would come out and bug them when I had questions, but they never let on. Jose would always say "don't worry, we aren't done yet!" The entire crew, Jose, Jonathon, David and Sal Sr delivered beyond my expectations. The estimate was spot on (no surprises) and they did not disappear after the final payment (came back for a minor irrigation issue). And I had no problem making that last payment because I knew I had gotten my money's worth. Wish I had done it sooner. Very similar experience with Kris K. below. Recently requested a quote for a simple 40x6 split-face block wall to match the back and right side of our house. I didn't get a chance to meet the sales rep as he was 15 mins late and I had to pick up my kids from school. He was able to access the backyard for measurements. He just sent me a ridiculous email with a cost and time breakdown: -One, I needed a permit to build a 6' ft wall which I don't believe is correct. I didn't need a permit for the back block wall and the City Development site says anything under 7' does not require a permit. -Two, I needed to hire an engineer to design the wall and they would charge $1500 for a 2D rendering of a block wall. I might understand if this is a retaining wall or there's a lot of zig zag but it's a simple straight wall. - Three, they would also charge me another $850 for an engineer to design the block wall. So already, I'm getting charged almost $2500 for consulting only. The charge for materials and labor would come in 5 - 7 days. And the whole project would take 2 months, dependent on permit approval. Fortunately, they were my 4th vendor. The other 3 vendors came over, took measurements and got me a quote between $7-9K the next day without asking about permits, engineering or designs. The sales rep mentioned they're very busy so great to know they're getting business elsewhere. read more

We hired them to do a full design and build of our yard. We were very, very happy with the entire project. We had a few things that needed to get taken care of aside from their job, and they took care of it all. There was an existing gazebo that we wanted to keep but move, a swimming pool that was started but not finished until the concrete was done, and a very heavy stone table and stone seats that needed to be moved. We gave their design guy our inspiration photo, and he nailed the look on the first try. We did a red wood privacy wall that is the highlight of my backyard. They also added a vinyl fence to enclose the yard. They created a doggy area on the opposite side of our house as well. The front porch was completely redesigned, and all the lighting and plants are absolutely beautiful . Every time there was a question or concern by my husband, they were there to change or fix it and made sure that any pending issues were all taken care of. We even added last-minute lighting around the privacy wall, and they got that done within a week. Been meaning to leave a review for Pacific Breeze Landscape as they were an absolute pleasure to work with. Our previous backyard didn't utilize space very well and we were looking for a landscape company that could not only design our yard, but also price out the build. Called 4 different landscape companies, but it was Pacific Breeze Landscape that really made an effort to meet with us for a landscape design quote. Worked with David on our design and gave him some ideas of what we wanted. He absolutely nailed the design as we made minimal changes to his renderings. We then priced the project to various landscapers and PBL was the only company to work within our budgeted numbers. Once we approved the project we then worked with Jose to bring our renderings to reality. Jose and his team were awesome to work with and always kept their word which goes a long way. We did run into some issues with our fence topper but Jose was quick to get it figured out and fixed. All in all Pacific Breeze Landscape is a top notch company that really puts their clients first. This review is long overdue. We had some major lifting of our front cement driveway because of a Queen Palm tree and needed to have work done to correct it. We researched different landscape companies and decided to go with Pacific Breeze Landscape. Sal and his team were top-notched and came up with a beautiful design of not only the driveway but the rest of the walkway so it all matched. He recommended a complete tear out of the concrete to ensure we corrected the issue of the tree roots lifting it. We went with new pavers and the end result far exceeded our expectations. I'm disappointed that with such great reviews on yelp, my first impression and conversation with this company was so disjointed that I decided not to continue with the conversation to get a bid. I called them to discuss a landscape project for my home which I already worked with a landscape design on and had plans for. They wanted to give me a bid with my drawings without even meeting to see and discuss the actual project. My suggestion to meet before getting a bid seemed to irritate the gentlemen I was speaking with and that was alerting to me and I just said I don't want to proceed with this conversation. We had just completed a kitchen renovation and home remodel. Our indoor space was beautiful, but the outdoor courtyard was lacking. I was embarrassed to have people over to see our gorgeous reno when the outdoor space was unimpressive. Truth be told, it was UGLY. I began researching design ideas and local Landscaping companies online. I knew what I wanted (built in seating, wall water feature, stacked stone, gorgeous lighting and some low maintenance plants), but didn't know exactly what that would look like and was nervous about a plan coming into place. I reached out to Simple Outdoor Living and they put together a 3D and 2D conceptual design for me. After more research and meeting with a few other local landscapers that I wasn't impressed with, we reached out to Sal at Pacific Breeze. Sal came over and spent about an hour to review the scope of the work, talk materials, and plan. He was so kind and approachable. Once we signed the contract, work began within a few weeks. The crew was on time every day, respectful of their workspace (my home!) and completed the project within the time frame provided. A couple months ago we decided to transform our brick laden home into something more our style. We called several companies to come out and give us quotes. Upon meeting Sal at PB, my husband and we're super impressed. He not only listened to what we wanted, he gave us ideas to improve upon what we wanted. He was creative in his approach while maintaining the integrity of what we wanted. We ended up removing all the brick, replaced it with a more modern stack stone and got rid of our planter and replaced it with a porch area to hang out, relax and watch our kids play. I was looking for a good local O.C. landscape contractor and I found Pacific Breeze on Yelp. When I called them for an estimate for my house in West Grove (Garden Grove) to relocate irrigation, install stamped concrete, install a drainage line, and clean up the planter beds. Sal came out promptly and discussed the project with me. He sent me a formal estimate the next day and it looked good so I accepted and he was able to get my project scheduled within a week. Fast forward to today and my stamped concrete was poured yesterday and it looks great. They are finishing up today. Sal's father (Sal Sr.) was on site for all 4 days of this project and was the supervisor did most of the work. What a great guy and hard worker. These guys kept things clean as they went along. I hired this company for re- design of landscape & hardscape. The rendition was fine, we changed a few things , but went with the overall concept. The hardscape ( pavers, patio slab & walkway ) were fine. My disappointment with the company was due to a lack of follow-up & detail. One of our French doors was damaged during the demo process, we still have cement splatters on our glass, our glass garage door was damaged & all of the plants planted in our atrium have died. I've had four homes previously re-landscaped & hardscape installed & my experience with Pacific Breeze was less than satisfactory. I'm sorry to say I would not recommend. read more

There has been a huge delay in writing this review, but sadly I am very technologically challenged. Sal, Jose, Ricardo, Jonathan and Sal Sr were an amazing team. We had a complete tear out and remodel of our front and back yard. We literally lived on a foundation until concrete was poured. Ricardo and Jonathan were at the house each morning by 0700 and wrapped up work around between 1600-1700 each day. We came up with a concept and design and cannot express how thankful we are for the outcome. Im always asked if I got a great deal - that is always subjective, but if you ask me - absolutely!! Anytime there was a question or change that needed to happen Sal would always answer his phone, text immediately or return a message the same day. Concepts were discussed and executed. As with any major remodel there are unforeseen delays - mainly the rain, but they overcame that. Sal and his team was flexible, professional and did incredible work. I wish I could give more than five stars. My husband and I are Seniors and have owned three homes and NEVER been as happy and satisfied with any service like we were with Pacific Breeze. Sal the owner was so easy to communicate with, getting back to us within minutes with every telephone call/text, having great ideas and stopping by daily to see how the work was coming along. We had a backyard of 1400 sq feet of pavers with border installed. There was a crew of at least four workers here each day, they were on time every day, worked a full eight hours and left our property immaculate. A foreman came by a couple times a day to oversee the work and make any necessary changes/corrections. Pacific Breeze was not the lowest bid we received, but we immediately trusted Sal and was so impressed with his demeanor and professionalism.
