Incredible texture and flavor. Not too sweet, light but densely rich at the same time - delicious. Highly recommend the kinako flavor.

It's been a little over a year since my first time trying B&C, and things have definitely changed…read moresince then--in a good way! I definitely feel like the team implementing the 7:45AM start time to line up has helped a lot. Not only is it better for the neighbors, but it also makes the whole experience feel a lot less chaotic compared to showing up super early and scrambling to get in line. Everything feels much calmer and organized now. As for the pastries: To be honest, it really depends on what you like. I'm one that gravitates towards pretty much anything with meat and chocolate. Because of that, most of their savory/meaty and creamy pastries are always a must for me. They're super flaky, flavorful and decadent. You can really tell how much time and effort they put into making everything as high quality as possible, especially since you can see them making everything from the window while waiting in line. All in all, I think there's been a lot of improvement over the past year with some trial and error. Their pastries have always been delicious and I personally think it's worth the wait. I recommend getting to the area closer to 7:45AM so you have a better chance of being towards the front of the line. If not, it's still better to come before opening, I just wouldn't recommend getting there right before they open. By then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything you want since they do run out depending on how many people are there.

Their Hotplate drop every Tuesday at 12PM is literally a war zone, reminding me of trying to get VIP concert tickets on Ticketmaster. And sadly, I haven't been able to score another box since then but oh well, at least I won once lol. I came during my pickup window and there was already a line out the door, maybe 10-12 people. I've heard it can wrap around the block, so honestly this wasn't too bad. The bakery itself in this adorable white and pink building, with cute window details, and neon cake sign. Pre-orders can skip the line, so I went straight inside to collect my little box of victory. My small box came with four pastries: Twice Baked Bourbon Peaches & Cream, Cheesy Ratatouille, Mocha Graham Butterscotch Cruffin, and Strawberry Vanilla Bun. And I gotta be honest, I loved them ALL. The Bourbon Peaches & Cream was heavenly. The pastry was perfectly buttery and flaky, while the cream and filling were rich and smooth. Easily one of my favorites. I'm normally not a cheesy vegetable savory pastry person, but I had to try the Cheesy Ratatouille for the plot lol, and surprisingly it was delicious. The veggies were cooked just right and the combination of cheeses was phenomenal. Strawberry Vanilla Bun was a classic that couldn't go wrong, fresh strawberries, delicious cream, simple and so good. Sadly, I saved the Mocha Graham Butterscotch Cruffin for the next day and all that generous filling made it pretty soggy. It still tasted good, but the cruffin had lost that crispy, flaky texture. That's on me though, so I definitely need a redemption round in the future. Overall, Butter & Crumble is absolutely worth the hype AND the Tuesday 12PM battle. Hopefully one day I can win the war again because there are so many other pastries I still want to try!

I would eat the cream by itself if they sold it that way. Good thing I don't live nearby. I saw one review say that some of their chocolate flavor or cookie flavors weren't as good, which I understand. I had a cookie cake and didn't taste the smooth, buttery taste I was looking for. I highly recommend cakes that let their vanilla frosting shine without mixing too many flavors. Flavors: - Raspberry & lychee was amazing - Key lime was a little too tart for my tastes, but I still loved the buttercream - Cookie was just ok

Very modern industrial, no seats, pickup only. Everyone was very nice as I pretended to fit in as someone who could splurge on $50 (4-6 little servings) worth of cake. I only got a taste of this cake from a friend of a friend's birthday cake leftovers. The chocolate dulce de leche one I initially tried was divine, but not available when I went in the afternoon a week later, so I settled on the lemon one, not bad. The buttercream was the best i've EVER had, and that's a big statement. These cakes are definitely designed for someone of a different income bracket than me, but if you want to treat yourself to a LUXURY slice of cake, ride your squeaky bike or cybertruck over to the Dogpatch (still a trip how upscale it's become the last 20 years) and feel like you're Marie Antoinette without a care in the world!

I loved: Raspberry Almond Croissant…read more I really liked: Strawberry Lychee Choux I liked: Banana Matcha Latte Strawberry Matcha Latte Juniper has quickly become one of those SF cafes where the pastries and drinks feel like they were made to be enjoyed together. The Raspberry Almond Croissant is easily the standout. There's a lot going on between the sweet raspberry, savory almond flavor, and all the different textures, but somehow it works. The raspberry comes through really nicely without getting lost in everything else. The Strawberry Lychee Choux is another winner. Light, flavorful, and honestly kind of addicting. It's one of those pastries where you take a bite and immediately want another. Both matcha drinks are solid, though definitely on the lighter side when it comes to matcha flavor. The Banana Matcha Latte does a good job balancing the banana without letting it overpower the drink. The Strawberry Matcha Latte is decent too, although the strawberry can lean a little bitter. Neither blew me away on its own, but paired with the sweeter pastries, they work really well. Juniper is almost always busy when I'm here, but the staff are consistently super nice and accommodating. The cafe itself can feel packed, but there's a reason people keep coming back. Great pastries, good drinks, and everything complements each other really well. Feels like a nice cozy cafe if you're in the area #goodeats

Choice of plain, ham and cheese, and bacon-something. Since it's my first time there, had to try the plain! Super cute but I was headed elsewhere so I took it to go. +++ Beautiful croissant. Even for a croissant near closing, this thing was beautiful. I've never seen gloss on a croissant like that. ++ Tasted great. Every "premium" croissant I've ever tasted just tastes like CostCo except with an extra stick of butter per croissant, and I'm not a huge fan of over-buttering things. This was rich but not overly so. Textures were amazing with crisp exterior and airy fluffy interior - so much so I had to take a photo of the half-eaten croissant just to show it off. + Interior was super cute. I was on the run so I didn't catch a photo but plenty of others from other Yelpers (thanks other Yelpers!) I'm not in the City often but if I was in the area, I would totally bring folks by.

I personally love lemon curd so I would definitely get this again but I'm also excited to see what the future seasonal flavors are. (3) seasonal raspberry almond croissant ($5.25) ~ can't go wrong with these flavors. The raspberry jam was inside. I usually like more filling and the amount of filling in this one was just ok. (4) savory scone (cheddar) ($3.95) ~ a bit dry but that's the nature of scones. I took this home and added some butter. Not sure if I would get it again. Since I'm staying in the Financial District, bakeries have to be at least walking distance. On my search I saw that "banana bread chocolate croissant"...ON MY WAY! I made it over at 930am on a Sunday after I had my real breakfast LOL. There was no line so I know I've scored. As I was ordering, the infamous croissant, I was told there were NO BANANA BREAD CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS - none available until later that afternoon which I would be well into my way back home. What a bummer. Since I was there, I went ahead and ordered the giant chocolate chip cookie which was as round and large as my face! I love cookies and this had mounds of chocolate blocks not really chip size. Good crunch and soft center with melts chocolate. This was like home baked. I was happy with this. I was intrigued by the Kouign amann which is like an encrusted with a sugar crunch, appears like a round crunchy flaky croissant filled or not filled with custard or jam. I did opt for the raspberry filled. I actually liked this too, but did it make up for not have the banana bread chocolate croissant? I don't know, but I'm not disappointed with what I ordered. I'd definitely get these again and recommend to everyone. I did have a long delay at the airport so enjoyed and consumed as I waited for my flight. The shop is smack dab at Union Square which is the perfect spot for a pastry treat. Enjoy the weather on a nice day and people watch while you're there.
