So thrilled to finally have an amazing Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood! Since there weren't any good omakase spots around, I used to have to drive all the way to Costa Mesa or LA. Finding this place is such a relief and a game-changer! The omakase quality is incredible for the price, and every single dish was delicious. We also ordered other items and sushi for the kids, and not a single dish disappointed. The rolls were fantastic, and the sushi was exceptionally fresh and high quality. Even my mother-in-law, who doesn't eat raw fish, loved the **salmon teriyaki**. Because they use sushi-quality salmon, it's tender and juicy instead of dry, which the kids loved too. First time here since it was Hoshi Sushi. Walking up, I noticed the new refresh exterior and walked in to a nice cool restaurant, temp should be cold as a sushi place and it definitely was. We had a nice friendly greeting by everyone. Everyone is so friendly. Noticed an interior refresh with nice cozy seating, neat light fixtures. Also the bowls, plates, and glass cups are really neat looking. Bella helped us out and she is a wonderful host, very accommodating and friendly, service with a smile. We ordered several different items from the menu including the 12 round Omakase. Everything was so fresh, not too much rice, perfect combination. We will definitely be back. Great food, beautiful ambiance, and excellent service! Tried Haruka Sake & Sushi in Fullerton for the first time, and I really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant has a beautiful, modern Japanese ambiance with warm lighting and a very inviting atmosphere. I ordered the beef teriyaki bento box, which came with 8 pieces of California roll, a shrimp & vegetable tempura, salad, and miso soup. I also ordered garlic edamame and chicken karaage on the side. Everything was tasty, but the tempura and garlic edamame really stood out! The tempura was served nice and hot, and I loved how the vegetables were still fresh and crunchy instead of being soft or greasy. The garlic edamame was also excellent; great flavor and perfectly cooked. You can really appreciate the art of getting those two dishes just right. The beef teriyaki, sushi, and chicken karaage were all enjoyable as well, but the tempura and edamame were definitely the highlights for me. The service was excellent, too! Everyone was very friendly and attentive. There was always someone passing by to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed, without feeling overbearing. That level of attentiveness really made the experience even better. Overall, great food, great service, and a beautiful atmosphere. While waiting for our dinner, we had a chance to talk to different members of the staff as they expressed their gratitude. We ordered: Dragon Roll - they did not skimp out on the eel, its juicy and large portion to the roll itself was phenomenal Sun-kissed Roll - their spicy tuna tastes great: fresh with a good kick without being too spicy. Their house sauce that goes with it paired well Geisha Roll - now let me tell you, this may have been my favorite that we ordered. Both the tuna and the salmon are fresh, had a great bouncy texture that was met with the crunch of the gobo. The wasabi cream and the chili oil tied it all together, CHEFS KISS Scallop Roll - their scallop roll was well balanced, with great rice to scallop ratio without the mayo being overpowering, it was well crafted even for a house roll Will we be back? Had the pleasure of eating here yesterday as a part of their soft opening. They're seasoned business owners, for sure! There was no wait and everyone knew what to do without any hiccups that are usually involved with soft openings. The waitress Regina was an absolute delight and had impeccable manners! She was attentive and always made sure to check up on us throughout the meal. I appreciated the fact that they had paper menus you can fill out to make interactions seamless and quick, though be aware that it is NOT all you can eat despite this method being typically used at all you can eat restaurants. Food was delicious! I loved the miso soup bowls and thought they were so cute, and the display was gorgeous. I regret not taking photos! I loved that the salmon/sake sushi had thick pieces of salmon and that they gave me little pieces on the side as an extra. Not sure if that offered because of their soft opening, but definitely a bonus as a salmon lover! This place is right down the street from us, and it's so nicr to know that we may have found our new sushi spot! Definitely an upgrade from the sushi place that used to be there. well.. initially wanted to go to Buena Park, but turns out my GPS told me to go this way past this seemingly familiar area and reminded of one sushi place that I frequented It's called Hoshi sushi. Lo behold, went past the front of the restaurant and Hoshi is not there anymore. It is replaced by a new Haruka Sushi and Sake restaurant. I thought well.. might as well give them a try since they have an omakase menu. And it's their soft opening day as well. I went in and I can say that they did a tremendous job in the interior of the restaurant (compared to the previous restaurant), minimalist yet modern look. Sushi bar looks normal. Very clean and good atmosphere inside in general. Got seated right away and I chose to sat at the sushi bar because I wanted to experience the vibe of seating by the sushi bar. Looking at the menu, they have exquisite choices of options you can pick for your dishes. Sushi lovers would love to try the "Omakase menu" that they crafted so well. Mind you, the omakase menu are all nigiris and handroll, and the selection of the fishes were great. They use Japanese fishes for their sushi, so you can have an original taste of the sushi. Service is kinda lagging in my opinion, because the servers are not really that attentive to ask or explain the menu. It's important to introduce your menu when you still in the process of soft opening, which can be a base of your benchmark to make the service quality become more upgraded. I noticed the servers are all standing around and for me personally it makes me uncomfortable to eat. They sometimes asked if I'm still doing okay or how the food taste, which is should be normal if you are a server (and I appreciate the attention to your customer in that manner.) Other than that, the owner of the place is the one who approaching the customer and explain everything about the menu or the restaurant itself. I introduced myself as Raymond to the owner, I am a sushi chef as well, and we had a great chat together and He was really nice and I know that he is a seasoned chef and business owner. Haruka Sushi restaurant has few more locations and that itself give me an impression that this is a good and growing company. There are still a lot that i want to say or exchange thoughts , but I kept it for now and I just want to see how they grow in time/in the future. Honestly speaking, that are is a very good location for Haruka Sushi to be. Busy business complex and lots of restaurant in the are as well, so it will definitely will bring good traffic there. Overall experience as of 09/07/2026, Haruka's soft opening day,: I give them 5 stars for general experience I give them 3.5 stars for general service experience I give them 4.5 stars for general food quality and taste. Love it. They need to add soju. waitress said owner doesnt have it in their other locations (pasadena and la canada). but you are in fullerton next to amerige heights. do you know how many koreans live here? add soju. will benefit your bottom line. what is the owner a "no soy sauce" kind of guy or does he want this location as a business to succeed? i'll come back to try their other rolls but yeah this is a sushi and roll place not izakaya. wish it did have some izakaya as well in the future. read more
