This is normally my go-to sushi place, but I was a bit disappointed with my last experience. I ordered my usual rainbow rolls, and the chef drenched them in this terriyaki-like sauce, which is not typical for rainbow rolls. Additionally, they poured the miso soup into a cup instead of the usual soup container, which was weird. If they were out of styrofoam bowls, they could have let me know, rather than giving me soup in a cup. read more

I ordered the 10 piece sushi which also came with miso soup. Fish was fresh. Sushi and soup tasted great. Service was great. They do charge a fee for using credit cards. The place can get pretty busy, so try ordering earlier in the day to avoid them running out of ingredients (which has happened a couple times). Parking - free parking. This place is a 10/10. The food here is just breathtaking. It's authentic and extremely flavorful. Their service is super fast and although they always have a line they manage to turn in your food in a matter of a few minutes and it's amazing every single time. I always feel as if I'm having an authentic meal as I would in Japan, the sushi rolls are so fresh and their Udon is my favorite ever! Portions are grand and the only thing I would say is bring your own drink or water as they have water dispensers but no fountain drinks. Finding a seat can be tricky on weekends. We live nearby and we love the sushi here better than any of the other places near us...and believe me, there are plenty of sushi places near us (Buena Park/Fullerton Area). But Haru Sushi is our #1 choice. We've been going here for years. We love the variety of Sushi they serve. They are delicious and the size of the sushi is wonderful. Ordered a platter, which was a good deal and discounted pricing compared to buying each roll separately. Each roll came with a cup of miso soup. Sushi came with ginger and wasabi, packaged soy sauce packets. Located inside Hannam Chain supermarket food court. Went first thing in morning when they opened on NYE, had to wait about 20-30mins for 6 roll platter to be ready. Spent the time browsing and shopping the supermarket. Probably a good idea to call ahead and place order, especially during peak hours Prices are great, cheap. You get surprisingly good quality and quantity of food for the price, I was pleasantly surprised at how big and filled the rolls were. They definitely don't skimp on anything! When we moved to West Anaheim, we thought finding good, affordable sushi was a lost cause. Never thought we'd discover our favourite spot inside a Korean market in Buena Park. Haru Sushi is part of a small food court, hiding in the back of the market (Enter the store and make a sharp left, then walk around, past the merchant shops, to find the food court). It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, they're making some of the best sushi and Japanese food we've had in a long time. Not only is it a great value, it's fresh and delicious. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but be sure to order their salmon-skin salad at least once. Nobody does it better. Keep in mind, they take all kinds of weird payment options, but they prefer cash. read more

Okay, I've been to fancy sushi restaurants and it's always the hole in the wall that's 10x more delicious. I got an udon and dragon roll with a crunch shrimp hand roll to start with and every component is a slam dunk. Absolutely delicious and the couple that runs this place is so beyond kind. They could tell I was weak from hunger so they gave me lots of miso soup and the hand roll right away so it could tide me over while they torched the most delicious udon I've ever had. Its located inside a korean grocery store. Me and my family have been coming here for a while now and owner/s and staff are always nice and polite. We live in Gardena which is about 30-35 mins away from this place depending on traffic but its always worth the drive when you're craving sushi and rolls! I found this sushi place while shopping with my mom at the Super 1 Hannam Chain supermarket. They have a small food court in the back of this supermarket that has Korean food, Chinese food, and now this new sushi place. I have to say that this sushi was pretty awesome for the $4.99 price for each of their rolls. I got the Dragon roll and my mom got the Alaska roll. I wasn't sure if that was enough, so I also got 6 pieces of their California roll for $2.50. It was way more than enough food and we took alot of it home. Also, they gave us 2 miso soups with our rolls. I think they are somewhat new since they had a sign that said "New Ownership," so I hope they stay around since I'll be going there again if I'm ever in that supermarket with my mom. Bottom line is that you get decent sushi here really cheap and fast. It's cash only, but that's not a problem when two rolls and a sushi salad (haedupop) is only about $20, including rice and miso soup! There's a pretty good variety of rolls, including baked and tempura rolls, and my personal favorite, the original "stinky roll" (which features garlic and onions in soy sauce). This restaurant is part of the food court in Super 1 Mart Han Nam chain, but it is definitely worth visiting despite it being tucked away in a grocery store! My family and I go here specifically for the haedupbap (not entirely sure if that's the correct spelling). It's kind of like a salad mixture of raw fish, lettuce and greens, shredded carrots and more with gochu sauce. Make sure to mix it up really well to get the sauce evenly spread! They give you a HUGE serving for only $6.50, and the quality is amazing each time. That's my favorite dish here, I've tried their sushi rolls and they always roll them a bit loose but they are generally pretty average/good. No complaints but they're also not amazing. Considering the price though at 4-8 dollars per roll, you really can't beat the value for that sushi! If you go here I definitely recommend getting the haedupbap at least once, you won't regret it. Service is mainly self serve, order at the window and pick up yourself, but the cashier is always friendly and the time it takes to get the food is always very quick. read more
