A quality experience with food and with service. Fish was melt in your mouth and had a great taste. Very cute ambiance. Would consider coming back. Downtown parking is a pain even during lunch on a weekday, so plan early to get to your reservation on time. They accepted walk in for lunch though.
First time here and I was not disappointed. All of the staff were friendly and helped each other run food and refill waters, which isn't something you see much of these days. We were there at around 5pm and it wasn't too busy, but there was a steady flow of diners coming in and out. Seating is ample, with outdoor, bar, sushi bar, and regular table options. I ordered two rolls: hot havana and mango roll. Both were delicious and the mango was juicy! The purple rice was super fun and set them apart from other sushi spots. I also ordered the miso soup to start. The food came out quickly. My only "complaint" is there aren't a ton of classic roll options. But this is a more upscale sushi restaurant, so it isn't surprising. I will keep this place in my list of spots to hit when I'm looking for a bite to eat in DTPHX.
High quality sushi for a great price in a cool location? Honestly, what could be better! Harumi came highly recommended by friends and family who live in town, so it was a must-try when we were visiting AZ over the holidays. There are plenty of nearby parking garages to choose from, and I don't believe they validate. We made a reservation for four adults and one baby for lunch, and we were glad we did because this is a popular spot! Nearly every table was full by the time we were leaving. I started with an iced matcha latte, which may have been one of the best I've ever had! It was smooth, sweet, and lightly frothy. Their lunch specials are an incredible value: you can get so much food for great price! I went with the Udon & Duo, which was $15 for a huge bowl of udon noodle soup and two sushi rolls of your choice from a select menu. Everything was fresh and flavorful - the sushi is made on purple rice which is a fun twist! Our server was so sweet, and they were well equipped and happy to serve a baby, although a very well-behaved baby at that. This is definitely on my list to revisit the next time we're in AZ!
Harumi is one of the top sushi restaurants in Phoenix, with great quality of fish and unique rolls. Their purple sushi rice is a fun addition, and also cooked/seasoned very well. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with very attentive waiters. It can be difficult to find parking downtown, but the meal is definitely worth it! I always will recommend harumi to people in search of great sushi in Phoenix.
Surprised such an amazing sushi place exists in Phoenix ! I visited my friend in Phoenix and we liked Harumi so much that we came back the following day. Their decor is beautiful with a modern boho vibe and soft wood tones that's perfect for a date. We shared a few rolls and also ordered some kid friendly options (plain rice, side of avocado, sweet potato roll, avocado cucumber roll). Our favorite roll was the Hot Havana roll! Must get it if you like yellowtail! Also appreciate that they have a very affordable chef special that is perfect for those on a keto/low carb die. It came with 6 pieces of sashimi and the oasis roll. Love that that use a rice blend (purple or black rice?) that gives it a purple hue. We did order cocktails and sadly, my "Seija" cocktail which is a matcha martini missed the mark :( but my friend enjoyed hers.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Fresh fish, quality food, excellent customer service, beautiful ambiance and mind blowing price points! This is the place to be. I had the lunch tower special, miso soup, edamame with the spicy garlic butter (I preferred the sea salt), the mackerel nigiri, the kurodai nigiri and they all did what they were supposed to do; excite my tastebuds and fill my belly. This was great! I didn't have a mocktail because I thought the prices ($19) were too expensive (the lunch menu was cheaper $16). The entire team was remarkable and I already see myself dining in there again VERY SOON! Check them out and enjoy!
I'm going to start off by seconding the common opinion -- the black rice is tasty, but it doesn't make for amazing sushi rice personally, as it does tend to fall apart as soon as soy sauce touches it (even when just picking it up, especially the nigiri). I think it definitely makes for a great visual, but not my favorite. I've been to Harumi before a couple of times before they moved over to this bigger location, and I think the quality has stayed relatively the same. I think what shines here are the unique roll options and the fish quality. The service is also always great, I've always had really friendly servers, and the food comes out super fast (like almost concerningly fast hahaha). This time, my family came for a Sunday night dinner, and there was no wait at all. We shared a couple of rolls, some appetizers and udon. The gyoza was the deep-fried kind, which was good, I think I personally prefer pan-fried. The Oh My God roll is always a hit with people, as it comes with a fun little fire show, but I'm not a huge fan of very saucy rolls so I opted for the nigiri and rainbow roll combo -- which was great value! I didn't love the udon personally, I think there was a lot of pepper or spices that kind of overtook the flavor of the broth. Overall, the sushi itself was solid, appetizers were okay, but my family loves their rolls! I will definitely be back for drinks, as I saw some really cool options on the menu -- need to try that matcha martini for sure!
My partner and I originally chose this place because we heard they light one of the sushi rolls on fire, which immediately sounded like something fun we had to try. Funny enough, this actually wasn't even the exact restaurant my partner had been thinking of when he brought it up, but honestly I'm so glad we ended up here anyway because the food was REALLY good. We ordered the flaming ohmygod sushi roll, and man... it was amazing. Not only was the presentation fun, but the sushi itself actually tasted incredible too, which sometimes isn't the case with more "gimmicky" menu items. It was so good that I literally ordered another roll to-go and took it on the plane back home with me because I already knew I'd be craving it later. That alone should say enough about how much I liked it. I also tried the matcha martini, and it was honestly one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. It had the perfect balance of matcha flavor and alcohol where neither one overpowered the other. Sometimes matcha drinks either taste way too earthy or completely lose the matcha flavor under the alcohol, but this one was super smooth, flavorful, and really well done. The restaurant itself also has a really nice atmosphere. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the indoor area definitely has a more upscale vibe than your usual sushi spot and that makes the experience feel a little more elevated and perfect for a date night. On top of all that, the servers were super friendly and provided genuinely great service throughout the meal. Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and made the experience feel really comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, this place completely exceeded my expectations. Great sushi, fun presentation, amazing drinks, friendly service, and a really nice atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back again.
This was the first restaurant I ate out while visiting Phoenix, which truly surpassed my expectations. Did not expect much from a sushi restaurant in a landlocked state, but the fish was so fresh. All the dishes are reasonably priced for the quality - this is a gorgeous upscale restaurant in downtown with beautiful dishes to match. The service is very professional and friendly - I was given several recommendations for things to do while in town. The lunch happy hour is also an insane deal for the quality. I returned the next day with a large group and everyone had a great experience.
Easily has become my new favorite Japanese restaurant! Our server Brad was by far the biggest highlight outside of our delicious meal! He went out of his way to take care of us and he was such a delight to talk to. We had a big group too and the food came out so quickly! I would drive out of my way just to come back here .
F O O D This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The place was super vibe-y and is a great place to go with the girls or on a date. And the food was delicious! My sister and I loved everything we ate. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing delicious, and the sushi is made with purple rice instead of white which set the place apart from other sushi spots I've eaten at (in a good way!). They don't load up on the carbs and the fish to rice ratio was nicely proportioned. I thought that the prices were also pretty reasonable. I'll be honest, the people of AZ weren't impressing me; I went to downtown Phoenix the night before and encountered some pretty overt racism. This was our last dinner and the staff were so nice. Everything was prepared well, food came out fast, drinks were filled, all the things! I only caught the girl's name who brought out the Oh-My-God roll and gave us a show (thanks, May!), but the employees were quick to clear our tables and were so smiley and were so great to converse with. This is a must go-to spot whenever we visit Phoenix in the future. L O C A T I O N It's located in downtown inside what looked to be a business building. I actually have no idea where everyone typically parks, but we managed to find street parking a block away.

We stopped by for lunch during the week. Was happy to find lunch specials that come with miso soups for an affordable price. I do have to mention street parking is tough and metered. Good news is this restaurant will be moving across the street into a building with a parking structure. Per Kyle, our server they should be moved early 2024. Delicious food all around. I do wish they had Ramen on the menu but the Udon noodle lunch special hit the spot. Miso soup has a unique hint of citrus, which is very different but acceptable nonetheless. On our weekend trip to Phoenix, we were told by many different people that this was the best sushi place in Phoenix, and they were definitely right about that! I haven't been to any other sushi places in Phoenix, but I would put my money on that statement. We came during lunch hour, but unfortunately missed a lunch special cut off. It's from 11-2pm and there are some great deals. We ordered the ahi tuna tower, the Ikura, Nigiri, and the Nigiri special. The fish was fresh, and everything was made on this delicious purple rice, which added a slight nuttiness and added texture. We also had the seaweed salad, which was delicious and a great portion for four dollars. The miso soups were good, but a little rich and salty for my taste, but that's what miso soup is... definitely try the real wasabi. It's amazing!! In total we spent about $55 before tip. I would definitely come back here and recommend this to anyone in Phoenix. read more

SO MANY GOOD THINGS TO SAY!!!! - the price is amazing for the quality of sushi - I tried the oh-my-god roll, the sashimi, the Oasis roll, the seaweed salad, and a cucumber/crab salad appetizer. Everything was sooooo good. (And I eat a lot of sushi!!) - service was so quick. We were seated as soon as we walked in - they split the check for you at the table! - such cute decor and great overall ambiance. I'm a student in California and I just happened to be in Phoenix for the weekend. This place was so awesome we went twice! If this place was near me, I'd go all the time. The hype of this Harumi is definitely deserved! Not only was everything eaten amazing, it is has a gorgeous exterior and interior. I was honestly very shocked by how affordable the prices were! The service was fantastic and I don't have anything to complain about! The sashimi was so fresh and everything just got better and better as we went on our journey through the menu. The presentation of the food as well as the drinks are magnificent and truly brings much more to the experience of it all. It is waitlist only, but you're able to check in online ahead of time, which was how I was able to easily snag a spot on a weekend night at prime time! Went to Harumi for the first time a couple weeks ago and have been craving it ever since. I think their sushi is decently priced, it's fresh, it's delicious, and it's SO cute inside. It's a little weird getting inside the restaurant since you have to walk thru a weird hallway but it's not hard to find. Definitely recommend this place for a cute date night or birthday celebration! read more

We were able to join the online wait list, so we weren't waiting as long and once we were seated the service was very good. We tried a couple of their rolls, and it was super good. I would definitely go back to try the other rolls they offer as well. read more

Came here for lunch and grab the lunch combo. Combo was reasonable and tasted good. Smaller portion so you may not be full. The ahi tuna tower was alright and heavy with the cream cheese. Poke bowl was delicious. read more

Great vibes, friendly staff, and service. The fish was fresh and the cocktails were delicious. Highly recommend the Mt. Fuji roll and their signature cocktails. I came to Phoenix for a conference and ordered delivery from here since a friend highly recommended it. They went here for lunch as I was attending conference sessions, and they made a big deal about how much I missed out. So I ordered delivery! The sushi roll is amazing, filled with sashimi and topped with even more. I am a scallop lover and this place totally satisfied me. Next time I am in town, this place is on my list! read more
Celebrated my first solo flight here with a couple of friends. This place is kinda hard to find and parking sucks, but the food was worth it! The sushi rolls were amazing we had jalapeno poppers, vegetable tempura, and edamame for appetizers. The edamame was soggy and tasted overcooked, but everything else was good. The rolls we ordered were the OMG, dynamite, crab mania, h3, and mt. fuji. The OMG was my favorite! They presented that roll with a little show with fire. There's no reservations available so you have to be added to the waitlist. My friend put us on the waitlist like a few hours in advance to be seated around 730-8pm. Service is kind of slow, but they were packed with a long line outside. My friends really loved the jalapeno poppers they ordered that dish twice. It was a little spicy for me, but if you don't mind that they highly recommend it. I ended up finding parking a couple blocks away, but it's all metered parking. Finally got to check this place went there for a friend birthday with a group of 8. We did have to wait about an hour for a table being that it was a Friday night. I would suggest get it there early if you're with a large group. Food and their craft cocktails were great! Our server made some great menu suggestions and service was on point. read more

Recently, they consistently have fresh fish - especially uni! Their uni has been so buttery and sweet. Their sashimi.com is always go to but I just tried their hot havana and it's a perfect balance of sweet and heat. I took my friends here and even slowly converted one of them into liking sushi. read more

They only take walk ins, so expect a bit of a wait. We did 3 pm on a Sunday for 2 of us and waited about 15 mins (not bad at all). We had the shrimp tempura roll ($10), spicy Scottish salmon spicy crab roll ($7), then she got the oasis roll with 6 sashimi ($22) and a side of purple rice ($2). The service was awesome - such nice guys and very helpful with dealing with her soy allergy. Food came fast and was so delicious and fresh. They are actually opening a new bigger nicer spot just across the street later this year, excited for that! We will be back often. read more

Just WOW! Great location. Cool vibe (they were playing some really nice techno/house music). All ages seemed comfortable to you guys hipsters, a couple of families and the whole age range. Bar not yet full yet but I enjoy a Sapporo with my sushi. And the sushi was really good. Everything was fresh and the service was on point. Great place for anytime and any occasion. There's so many good places to eat in and around Phoenix that it's been hard to narrow down the choices! I was hanging across the street, debating on local Thai restaurants when I found this little gem! The menu was a little tough for me to read since there's no photos yet the waitress directed me to instagram to check out some of the photos. Aaaand, of course I used Yelp, which has plenty of photo goodness! I ordered the H3 roll, some sushi rice and seaweed salad. Everything was super yum! I'll be back. Great place for sushi!! read more

I write this review with immense dissatisfaction and disappointment with the new location that was opened across the street from their original location, which I have given two, five star reviews for their exceptional service and quality of food. Update to the new location: Although I appreciate the larger seating areas, it has lost its charm that they had with the other location. It used to be a lot more inviting and intimate and now it is just modern and very loud. Secondly, the menu has changed and they have removed a lot of my item favorites. Additionally, the rice is just not the same and the quality I would say has come down to mediocre. Quality of fish however is still the same, which I appreciate. I am not sure what changed, but it is definitely not the same. I gave this place so much praise and tell everyone I know to go to this place but I'm just not sold on this place anymore. It is honestly truly a bummer and probably will not return again. RIP OG Harumi. read more

Best sushi in Phoenix? I believe it! Located in downtown Phoenix, it's a rather spacious sushi spot. There is metered parking or parking structures adjacent to the restaurant for around $4/hr. I recommend putting yourself on Yelp waitlist because the wait can get pretty bad on the weekends for dinner. For sushi, I got the bluefin tuna, omakase, and mixed rolls with spider roll, shrimp tempura, and rainbow. I really like the bluefin tuna. It melts in your mouth. The omakase was also a good portion and all the fish taste really fresh. I love that they have fresh wasabi for the sashimi. The rice they use is Korean purple rice but it doesn't taste too different from normal sushi rice. Overall, I'll be dreaming of this meal for a while as I head back to Tucson. read more
My family and I love this restaurant! It is so modern and chic . The servers are so friendly and quick, there's always an lavailable staff member waiting to be waited on . The sushi here is so fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend Sunomono -Sliced cucumbers with crab stick, asparagus, and spicy ponzu . You'll want to drink the Punzo sauce off your plate. I also highly recommend adding real wasabi to your sashimi, it is so delicious! My daughter got a lunch sampler and I got chef's choice. read more

Our little group came to phoenix for the weekend and unfortunately the airline changed our flight without us realizing. We had 12 hours in the city. What to eat??? We love sushi and found this place and turns out our Airbnb host also recommended this spot. Our waiter was amazing and recommended a bunch of rolls and we ordered them all. Wish I remember the names but honestly you cannot go wrong with anything you choose. We came back to VA and told all our friends how good this sushi was. We're definitely replanning a trip to Phoenix and this will be one stop! read more

Yes, they offer a great variety of gluten free, and vegan rolls! Gluten free/low sodium soy sauce too!!! They are also great at customizing a roll, ie, taking something out for your vegan needs.
Is there a parking lot for the restaurant and if not what are closest parking location?
Metered parking, there is a garage in the financial building but it costs a lot. Entrance is between central and first ave on Adams. You can get it validated for a little bit off at the bar or one of the shops on the ground floor.
What is the "real wasabi" that you can order? Fresh wasabi (like at Roka Akor) is grated from the actual root. The stuff Harumi serves is wet and delicious, but what is it?! What's it made with/from?…

If you're referring to the owners, then no. But you certainly should not let that deter you. It's definitely worth a visit.
Does this place have a kids menu?
No - but the menu is generic across all ages groups.. don't think you will have any problems - have taken my kids before and never an issue.
What does purple rice taste like? My husband is very picky anything different and he will not eat it.
Just tell him to man up and eat it.
