my first time at this dry cleaners . They lost my nice "Joseph About ". white french cuff shirt and replaced it with a with shirt from H &M .When I went to pick up my stuff I told them it was not my shirt . The person just refuses and said it is , then predented not to understand english and asked me to return the next day. The Next day when my girlfirend went to inquire and spoke to the owner. The owner said this was the shirt I gave them for cleaning and if she did not want to pick it up today they could do nothing more. The owner later insulted my girlfirend by saying that we were liars and told her never enter the store. All I can say is that I have taken this matter up with the local police ...so beware of these guys, especially when giving them expensive stuff. read more

So I'm definitely not going here again. I've probably had the worst experience with a service personal ever. It has to be said that I've worked with textiles and the service industry since 2008 in Denmark, and I'm educated within this so I know what I'm talking about. I brought in my husband's two suit jackets for dry cleaning. I've used Harvard Cleaners before but only for small repairs. I'm from Denmark where dry cleaning is so expensive that only very few things gets cleaned. But they did do a good job with the repairs and therefore I decided to use their dry cleaning service as well. As I got home and I unwrapped the jackets I soon learned that they were not in any way dry cleaned, OR they were so poorly cleaned that it didn't make any difference. There was still a big stain under the front pocket, and the armpits were not in any way better. I smelled the jacket and they did not any smell the way dry cleaned clothes should. The stain under the front pocket is big, but quite new and should have been removed - at least a little bit. Is has to be said that I already picked out the stain and the arm pits when I handed them in. So I brought back the jackets and showed it to the female/wife that works there. She got very defensive quickly and I just told her plain out that if I had to be honest, I had my serious doubts whether they were ever cleaned. I should never have said that! She started raising her voice and yelling at me like I've never seen anything like it! I was so choked that I almost didn't react - which is not like me at all. And then I lost it. I told her exactly have I felt with her talking to me like that, but she wouldn't back down!!! It wasn't after a while that she realized that this probably wasn't the best way of talking to anybody that she calmed down and starting almost apologizing. But at this point I was just so choked and angry. And after all this she still wouldn't give me my money back. Just, don't go here!!! read more

I recently moved away but when I lived in Brookline, Harvard Cleaners was no doubt the best in town. I've been going to the family owned business for 10 years and have never been disappointed by their excellent job of getting all my alterations and dry cleaning done with perfection. The couple that owns the business are both kind and diligent in their work. Right when I would walk through the door they would greet me warmly and with the most genuine smiles on their faces. Not only are they kind people but their work is excellent. I have brought in many alteration pieces over the years and have never been disappointed by Le's work. Hard to believe this just happened. Left jeans 2 days ago to be shortened , paid cash. Went today with receipt to pick-up jeans, having paid cash for alterations when I left them. She said I didn't pay, that her husband always marks "paid" on the receipt when cash is paid. I told her that I only had me to think about, and I had paid cash. She didn't believe that her husband could make a mistake and hid the jeans behind the counter. She wouldn't give them to me unless I paid again. $50 to shorten jeans is a bit much but she said that she deserves to be paíd for her work. I said I agreed, but she shouldn't demand double. She wouldn't release the pants unless I paid again. INCREDIBLE!! read more

We have used Harvard Cleaners for all of the five years that we've lived in Boston. The owners take great care to ensure that our clothing isn't damaged. I've had numerous alterations done here as well, and the results have been excellent. This is a place with exceptional service and genuinely nice people. I needed to get a suit, pants and shirt cleaned by the next day. I was pleased to see a sign on the wall that said for $10.00 and more worth of dry cleaning, shirts would be $1.25. I received the receipt showing the shirt laundering price to be $1.75. I asked the woman why I was not getting the deal. She said that because I wanted my clothes cleaned the next day, the deal was not included. I informed her that the sign didn't indicate that. She said that she couldn't include everything on the sign. I left but decided that the price was okay and I did need the suit the next day. When I told the woman I changed my mind and that I'd like to have it cleaned, she told me that the information that she had already entered was erased. I said "so now you don't want to do business with me"? She said to come back another time. I work in retail and the company I work for bends over backwards to make things right and help customers. This is inexcusable and I felt the need to post this poor review. I think the least the woman could have done was to give me the benefit of the doubt. read more

Overall an okay choice. $6.50 for dry cleaning a pair of dress pants: reasonable prices. Location is great, but there are certainly a lot of other cleaners to choose from within a couple of blocks. When I went to pick up my order (dropped off Thursday at 5pm, ready for pick up Monday at 6pm), the owner's young teenage son handed me the wrong order. If you're having someone pick up for you, make sure you tell them what's in your order...that could make for an unpleasant hassle. read more

Having read all of the reviews, I decided to have some clothing altered at Harvard Cleaners. My experience was anything but positive. Of six items none were done to my satisfaction. Instead of working with me, all that I kept hearng was "I did this job right." While the work was correctly tailored, it was not the way that I had asked that it be done. Unfortunately, the owner then started acting like a petulant teenager. I was shocked that someone running a business would start shouting and talking the way that she did. Maybe she was just having a bad day....but verbal abuse what not what I wanted. read more

I'm a big believer in supporting local businesses, but unfortunately I won't be doing any more here. I brought in a once worn beige linen jacket and when I picked it up I found an ink stain that hadn't been there before. The proprietor said he would fix it. When I returned to pick it up a second time he said he wasn't able to get the stain out. The area around the original stain had been lightened and there were a series of other dark marks around the stain and discolored area. The owners were unapologetic and didn't even offer to refund the money I paid originally. The complete unwillingness to acknowledge any responsibility was almost as upsetting as my ruined garment. read more

I was back and forth between whether to rate this one or two stars - guess I'm in a good mood since I went with two. I have been to Harvard Cleaners twice for alterations. The first time to try them out to see the quality. The quality was good, although the items were not ready when they said they would be. Thus, I had to make an extra trip to pick my things up. But since the quality was good and the prices average, I tried them again. This time for a bridesmaid dress. A sort of time sensitive item! They remembered me b/c of the issue with the timing the first time, so were very reassuring that the dress would be ready when I needed it. I asked for it to be ready on a Tuesday by 6pm, which they said was no problem. They gave me my claim slip and printed right on it was "ready by Tuesday 6pm". Was it? No. I went to pick it up and they hadn't even started working on, despite having had the item for a week. When I went back to pick it up (again, so how many trips have I made here? I've lost track), it was ready. No offer to discount for my inconvenience. I take this as a sign that my business isn't valued, so I won't go back. Back to the drawing board for finding someone in the Brookline area to do alterations. read more
