The guy who pumps the gas has the nastiest attitude I have ever experienced in any business. I have backing up so it would be easier for him to put the pump in, he then proceeds to hit the back of my car numerous times saying I almost ran him over even though I was moving extremely carefully. I will never come back here unless this guy is fired. read more

Took my car here for inspection (after the inspection place I've gone to for years was closed) and it was a terrible experience. My check engine light was on & had a broken rear view mirror. Two legit reasons to fail the inspection, which I fixed but here's the part that irritates me. My rear license plate holder has a camera on it for backing up. The camera part obstructs MASSACHUSETTS. Not completely & you can still know it's a MA plate, but the mechanic told me I have to remove it. I've had the car 11 years and never had a problem with the plate obstruction. I explained to the mechanic this & he's super paranoid saying the state is watching me and you could be a state employee, blah blah blah. If you want a big hassle getting an inspection go here. DO NOT GO HERE. I went to get my car inspected here and was treated to a shady, shovenistic mechanic. I failed my inspection for wipers (who fails for wipers!..oh wait..i do) and my SRS (airbag) light was on. I say to the mechanic well ok can you please figure out what is wrong and also provide me with an estimate. He says I need to drop my car off. I look around his completely empty garage and say "well I need my car, can you please just work on it now as I do not see any other cars". The jerk smirks and says "no you must drop it off and come back". I say hell no and leave with a pretty little rejection sticker. See the thing is, since my dad was a mechanic I am aware that the guy only has to plug in a small computer device (MES connector or something) and read the code. THEN he can tell me what is wrong. This takes all of perhaps a half an hour..tops. I get my car fixed at a Honda dealership and stupidly take it back to this place for the guy to tell me my two months is up (by a couple days) and that he will need to re-inspect my car and re-charge me. Oh wait..this was AFTER he made me wipe my car completely clean of all snow so that he could bring it into his filthy and wet shop. I am surprised he did not ask me to lick it clean. A yelling match ensued, which is very unlike me, but I was just tired of being dicked around. So in closing I highly suggest not getting your car inspected here unless you have tons of time on your hand and like testing you will not to Judo Chop someone in the face. Good day. read more

Consider this a "fair warning"-scented review. Hang it from your rear view window. The station does not have mid grade gasoline, and when you ask for a fill up, they default to the credit price (~30 cents more per gallon!) Even if you flash cash and request $20 worth, they might still charge it to tha game. And finally, even if you ask them about the mistake, they only apologize and make no effort to rectify the situation. In the long run, it's only a few bucks more. But it's still poor practice, especially when the task is part of a three-step process. Next time, I'll face the slow pump at Fred's down the street over another awkward exchange here. read more

I was overdue for my annual state inspection because my attempt at trying to get my father to do it failed, because apparently at 26 I'm expected to be a big girl, and take care of this car stuff myself. Not to be deterred from trying to make it as easy as possible on myself, I took it to the first place I could find, which was Harvard Street Garage ... because it's literally down the street from me. I did look up the reviews for the place, because surprisingly, I'm not *that* bad of a Millennial. The low ratings were a bit disheartening, but the last one was from nearly two years ago, so I decided to take a chance anyway. Anyway, they don't require you to make an appointment, it's first come first serve (at least for inspections). I rolled up in my expired vehicle and only had to wait a little bit before Leo the mechanic was free to look my steel baby over. One of my front/corner lights was out of commission and after pointing it out to me - and for some reason giving me a really pointed look and saying he couldn't pass me because I might be a state spy in disguise and get him in trouble - he promptly fixed it, for only $7 bucks. But I wasn't a mole, see, I was just a regular gal, trying to get my car inspected. I didn't know if that's too little or too much, but I was too busy daydreaming about being a state spy and still having a chance at passing the inspection. I wonder what made me suspicious to him... bet it was the nerd glasses, the peacoat, and the giant purse. Anyway, I may have admitted that one of my tire sensors wasn't working properly and Leo - bless his soul - checked all them but his little machine couldn't tell him which one. So he just made sure my tires were safe (if you are a state spy reading this, my tire light was off!!) and told me I'd need to drop by if I wanted to fix it (estimated at $100 bucks, 1 day job). So overall -thanks to the busted light, and him checking my tires, the job took maybe about 40-50 mins and I paid about 45$ (price of fixing light included). Still riding the high of being a responsible adult, I thanked Leo and shook his hand. Which I think was faux pas because he looked a bit shocked. Anyway, I really enjoyed the experience and Leo was definitely a nice mechanic, who went above and beyond his duties of expecting my car. Maybe him suspecting me of being a spy had something to do with it, but I'd like to think they offer great services to everyone. read more

If your car breaks down on the weekend bring it here!!! My car broke down on Saturday and I had no idea where to take it. The Auto Zone on Mystic Ave mentioned to bring it here. The gas attendant took my information and said he's call the owners to mention I dropped it off. I couldn't believe I actually got to talk to someone on the weekend! It was a relief not to have to scramble on Monday. I had my car pulled into the garage for save keeping and I had a call from the mechanic Leo on Monday morning with a quote and estimate of time. Fast, Convenient and Great service!! read more

This used to be my go-to gas station and repair shop. I have not run into any "chauvinistic" mechanics at this garage. Just because some of them are foreign, it doesn't mean they are automatically sleaze balls. There is a back area that they work on cars too. If you don't see another car physically in the main garage area, it doesn't mean they don't have other things to work on. When I get my car inspected here, I call ahead and see if they have any other cars and can do mine right away. They have never been anything but nice to me. I always ask the guy if I can hang around and watch, too, and he puts up with my asinine car questions with a smile. Since I get gas there regularly, they always fix my minor issues like blown fuses and things like that for free. Bottom line is, they are all pretty nice guys who are willing to help you out; just don't judge them because they look a certain way or because they are Iraqi, Algerian, or whatever. Their prices are competitive, and if you call ahead they can tell you if they can take care of you immediately or when they can. read more

My wife and 2 1/2 year old son went to this garage for an inspection. They told er 6 times to move the car and told her to leave our son unattended in the garage. She was then told by the manager to wait in the car in subzero temps for 30 to 45 mins and they would get to her. Finally she decided to leave and the same manager yelled at her and told her to go to Hell that they need her pathetic business. Don't go to this garage. read more

Wow - I had the exact opposite experience of the other reviewer. These guys are great! Courteous, polite, speedy, and they do a great job. I've brought my car here about 4 times now for work, and every year for inspections, and I've never had a bad experience. I haven't been overcharged, either. This garage is great; I'm only giving it 4 stars because they are often busy, so I often have to drop my car off and wait for inspections. But then again, a busy garage is a good garage, right? read more

I would never bring my car to anyone but Leo. He is the most knowlegeable and honest mechanic I have ever met. He explains everything and takes the time to suggest affordable options. I am not too sure why Ren T's experience was so dismal. My experience has been first class. I had my car repaired in a first class and proffesional manner. The mechanic kept the worn parts he had replaced for my inspection....that's a first in my experience in dealing with other garages. They called me with a diagnosis of the problem, gave me my options, and stuck with their quotation. Now that is what I call honesty...no hidden extras! Perhaps Ren T should extend more respect to people in the service industry. Calling them "jerks" and "chauvenistic" (Ren T please note spelling) is not conducive in establishing trust. No one likes to be yelled at or called names.We are no longer in High School! Thank you Harvard Street Garage Medford. Keep up your good work, I live North of Boston and always take my car to Medford for service despite it is quite out of my way. I have been bringing my car here for several years and find the mechanics honest and knowledgeable. I normally work on my own car, but I have brought it to them when I did not have the time, skills or tools for certain jobs. They changed a CV joint for me (after I broke a bolt trying to do it myself), replaced a timing belt, fixed an exhaust leak, and inspected my car 4-5 times. I can't comment on an earlier reviewer's charge of male chauvinism (I am a male). The reviewer also complained of failing inspection for bad wipers and for letting time lapse on reinspection. I can see this - they are pretty by-the-books. (FWIW, I have failed inspection for bad wipers - elsewhere.) Bottom line, the Harvard Street Garage has done good work for me at very reasonable prices. read more
