Imagine it's the days of prohibition and in order to have a good time you need to go to an underground club. This is kind of the feeling of stepping into this establishment which is a pretty cool feeling. Inside is dark and a cool vibe sets the stage. Everything seemed like a pretty cool night until the event actually started. Its a fairly intimate place but when you sit somewhere, if theres a show, you might not be able to see the show. The way its laid out is if you're not right up front your gonna miss a good chunk of the show. I found myself not being able to see either because the waitresses were in the way, the seating of other customers or the dancer bent down and basically invisible. The next thing was the waiting staff. Service started off well and I will say that I was just getting the 2 drink minimum for 2 people. However I never got my 4th drink and im pretty sure I had to pay for it. After the event was over I had to go flag down my server because I had to get going as it was already 12:30am. I have lived in Long Beach for over 10 years, and this is my first time at Harvelle's. Harvelle's is located downstairs in the Promenade, beneath Congregation Ale. I love the inside of the venue, chairs and booth are red which gives it a sexy vibe. Bathrooms were clean, and everything seemed well taken care of. They recently started featuring Quiet Storm Sunday's offering smooth jazz sounds for a more mature audience-reason I'm here. Had VIP seats, but the entertainer mixed in well in the other areas of the venue-not a bad seat in the house! My server was Jess, and she did a awesome job of coming around to see if I needed anything. They do have a 2 drink minimum, but soft drinks count. I had sweet potatoes fries, with 2 delicious dipping sauces. There is 2 hours free parking short walking distance, but I opted to park in a closer lot which was 5 dollars for all day. I highly recommend this place, especially during Quiet Storm Sunday's to mellow out the beginning of a work week. I wanted to see a burlesque show for the first time. I heard about this place in Downtown Long Beach. This late night show was entertaining with burlesque, belly dancing, singing and jokes. It was at a bar like place so if you didn't pay more for your ticket then you need to search for a seat or stand the entire show. This place is decorated with lots of red and some black to give it a sexy ambiance. They have different shows from different burlesque groups so you will need to look at their website to find out more information. Parking prices in Downtown Long Beach can be cheap or high depending where you park and how many hours you plan on being around the area. There are a few good restaurants, shops and bars at the Pike or Downtown. When you visit this place plan on doing lots of walking so wear some comfortable shoes. read more

I love the ambience of this place! I like that a place like this exists! I came here to see The Winehouse Experience (Amy Winehouse tribute band) on a Saturday night. The location doesn't stand out since it's to the side of a gastropub and its below the ground. Parking was easy to get to, there are small parking lots and structures all over and nearby. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and gastropubs nearby for late night eating. The entrance is clearly marked and you take two small flights of stairs down. Harvelle's is not a large venue, which is perfect to go see bands play or the many burlesque shows they host (making a mental note to go see a show here sometime). The aesthetics of the venue are just right. Black, red, and dimly lit make for a super intimate setting. Our server was pretty cool, she was friendly and pretty prompt with our drinks. It was a busy night and we decided to risk it and order tater tots to snack on. They were brought out in a timely manner. Loved the two dipping sauces for the tater tots and we couldn't figure out what they were! Our drinks were so strong, they were almost worth the $10 each. We purchased our tickets for the show before reading reviews and I'll admit we were a bit hesitant due to all the bad reviews. To my surprise, our experience at Harvelle's was pretty great! Three of us went for the Tim Burton Burlesque show. VIP was sold out so we did general admission trusting we could make it work. We couldn't. Without a seat near the stage, you can't see anything. That's because the GA is standing room only which means they block all side views. The expectation for the show is to tip but very few people could see the show enough to tip for the experience. It was my bff's 50th bday so super disappointing. This was poorly executed. Could've been awesome if we got the VIP or they had assigned seating. Oh well. read more

We make it to Long Beach right on time for the show, park at the $5 lot and walk over to Harvelle's which is located below Congregation Ale House. There's a $10 charge at the door. It's got a plush interior with red pintucked cushions for as far as the eye can see. The bartender/ bouncer is nice and the drinks are tasty. The food is ordered from Congregation Ale House upstairs. We ordered a few drinks at the bar and they opened up more tables as the show started. Seated we also ordered a flatbread pizza with additional drinks. The evening was really fun. Like most clubs, there's a two drink minimum and cocktails are pretty pricey, but the beer selection is pretty good and affordable, same with the appetizers! Tots and pretzel were VERY tasty. 3 stars is due to extremely long show (at least 2.5 hours) that runs more like an open mic night than anything else, with pretty uncomfortable chairs Dancers were energetic and entertaining on the night I went, but not much variety. Show would have more bang with fewer comedians (do you rly need 7 comedians AND a headliner on top of a burlesque show?) But again, overall good experience, that I ain't mad at :) read more

Interesting vibe. This place has looked interesting for a while. With different themes, I've been meaning to make it out. But with the DLB crowd and parking situations, I never made the effort. I finally made it a Meetup so that I would make it out. It's across from DLB's Wakano, where street parking is free after 9:00. Looking dark and dank, down a dimly lit stairwell, I didn't know what to expect behind the wrought iron heavy door. When that door swung open, I met the friendliest huskiest bouncer ever. : ) He was welcoming and made me feel like going in and getting comfortable. Not having clubbed in 4-eva, I forgot that 9pmish was early. I had a non-alkie and a seat and waited on my party. Once they trickled in, some entertainment had already begun. That's when I discovered that this was not the cabaret eve. It ended up being...some genre of jazz/country. The bands were good. The dancing was awesome. The bar was great. The food service was poor, but they comp'ed us after complaining. Oh well, we had a good time and will return for some of the other interesting entertainment menu options. read more

It was less of a comedy show and more of a sexist, homophobic rant that didn't sit well with us. The server was awesome and so were the drinks but it was honestly a complete waste of time and money. Came here for the Circus of Sin show. Had a vip table but to be honest all the seats gave you a great view of the show and the dancers are so interactive that everyone got up close performances. Show was amazing. Dancers were so skilled...beautifully erotic without being tacky. We ate before we went but the drinks were very good and our waitress really attentive even. read more

The owner of this fine establishment needs to fire this blonde female, white middle aged bartender that works there. Didn't catch her name but she truly had a sour and rude attitude. She made a couple condescending and snide remarks to me that were completely unwarranted. Like if you don't have a drink on tap just say so, I don't need your "colorful" commentary on my choice of alcohol nor do I need a passive aggressive comment when giving me my drink. Needless to say her customer service needs some dire improvement or she just needs to be let go. I wish I had got her name because I would've totally put her on blast since she has no right to be working in a customer service job. This place has a great atmosphere and phenomenal live entertainment but they need to reconsider who they have behind that bar. The Black Veils offer tasteful yet sexy entertainment in their thoughtful choreographed performances. They have stage that they perform on and they also go into the audience and up on the bar. First time here for my birthday. Showed up early to get good seats. Sat in a booth right by the band. Show started and we quickly realized we had the WORST SEATS because two pillars obstructed our view the ENTIRE night. (Why didn't the people checking us in tell us?!) We literally couldn't see any of the show and had to physically get up from our seats and stand to get a glimpse of anything. PROS: - Alien dancer was amazing! That was the highlight for me but I had to get up from my seat to watch her. - Sexy ambience, I loved the red couches - Sexy, talented dancers - Loved our waitress (forget her name, short blonde hair) - Yummy cocktails/food (I got the sangria and pretzel) CONS: - Paid for a show I BARELY GOT TO SEE - Horrible seating for a venue like that - The band played random rock songs but I wish they played songs the audience knew. - No story line (no "monsters" on Monster Burlesque night?!) - Costumes were kind of boring The worst was the seating. How can they sell tickets to a show you can't even see? I was highly disappointed. If I ever come back I'm definitely sitting somewhere different! Just bought tickets AGAIN to see the Devils Den show! Came in September and now I just got tickets for a friend's birthday for November. This is a rad show with a great live jazz band and burlesque dancers from the group Dirty Secrets that does other shows at Harvelles. I was chatting with the cute bartender with blonde hair and he said this is one of the best shows they have, so I knew I had to make it back soon. (Half to see the show and maybe half to hang with the cute staff...shhhh don't judge) But in all seriousness I wanted to take a minute and say how much I appreciate how cool this show was and how excited I am to come back. We walked by and a guy insisted we come check it out and escorted us downstairs! How did I not know that this place was downstairs from Congregation Ale? What a fun date night! Perfect for a couple, group of friends and a party! I would definitely come back again! The Ribeye & White Cheddar Burger was perfect. Get it medium rare. Just finished watching "50 Shades of Burlesque Parody" tonight and it was a blast! The venue is definitely intimate, the servers were pretty good, the performers were very entertaining and super talented. The women's restrooms only have 2 stalls so that's something to be mindful of. We had a double date tonight and we were able to get a table that was close enough to the stage but I agree with the other reviews that sometimes it's hard to see exactly what is going on on-stage because of the table/chair layout. There were two gentlemen that was obstructing my view because their stools were right in the field of vision for my friend and I sitting on the booth area. There is a two drink minimum so that was a bit of a bummer but the drinks are pretty strong so it's worth it. read more

I absolutely love Harvelle's. My friends and I have been here Maaaaany times for either special weekend shows or the Tuesday comedy/Burlesque combo. Comedians are a hit or miss, but that's neither here nor there. The ambience is sexy and cozy (small venue so good seating for the show everywhere), the food is from the restaurant upstairs, I'm a big big fan of the artichoke! The drinks are good but the shows are the best. Every show I've seen has been awesome, energetic, sensual AF and is a bit interactive (I've been "summoned/volunteered by friends" to the stage twice!) but was not made to feel embarrassed. I had purchased my tickets in advance; Harvelle's offers two shows per night. 9 pm show and 10:45 show. Harvelle's opens up at 8pm and I highly suggest to arrive early for better seating and there is a 2 drink minimum per person, Drinks don't have to be alcoholic beverage. I don't know why this place doesn't have FIVE stars! Came once before for just the burlesque show (it was amazing) and I thought that it would be a good place to bring my bf to for his birthday. Wasn't sure about the comedy/burlesque mix but IT DIDNT DISAPPOINT. If you want a good laugh with some sexy dancing then you better come in Tuesday's. Seriously. The comedians were funny (I believe 5) and they all had different senses of humor and there were probably 3-4 dance/burlesque acts so duh, no brained, you get WAY more than what you pay for. **their food is also bomb. Had the pepperoni and sausage pizza and the tater tots #drooling lol Also, it was about a 2.5 hour show. So again, no brainer. Highly recommend! For reference, my BF and I are 25 but the crowd was a good mix of people and everyone was laughing :) read more
