This is a Bryan staple. The aesthetic here is incredible. The cafe is spacious, and it's located in the heart of downtown Bryan. While the coffee is not anything special, I find myself coming back for the friendly staff and atmosphere. Their unique latte flavors really shine here, and the quiet cafe is perfect for shooting the breeze. I'd highly recommend coming out here on dates, to hang with friends, or to take in an authentic slice of Bryan. I hope Harvest continues to see great success. read more

I love this place! I live in Bryan and being an A&M student I spend a lot of time in coffee shops so this is a perfect spot for me. And I love downtown Bryan (DTB) so it's nice that there is finally an easy and convenient coffee shop when I'm here. I LOVE the coffee, but I'm bad at remembering the names. Usually I can just tell them what kind of drink I'm looking for and they'll make the perfect thing. The only downside is that the music, played off a record player hooked to speakers, is not always easy to study with when most of the records skip. If CDs or something can be played sometimes that would probably help the staff and customers. The Music is well selected, but when the music skips everyone can get distracted. read more

Harvest is a sigh of relief, a departure from an area that can feel like a never-ending strip-mall. The atmosphere walks the line between urban decay and southern warmth, and the music follows; Bon Iver will open for Johnny Cash, but you won't bat an eye. The coffee is the best you'll find in this town. My first love was the cortado, which is always made to perfection with a burnt aroma and smoky taste. I've experimented with the Chemex, which will be your best friend for long study-stints. The caffeine content and the rounded nutty taste will keep you going for hours. Of course, the Harvest latte (cold) is a great way to combat the Texas summer heat, and nothing beats its smooth and sweet taste. As good as the coffee is the service. They'll remember you, if not by name, by drink. Each barista can (and often is) a one wo/man show. Drink after drink, dish after dish, table clean after table clean, they'll look at you with a smile and keep an eye on the falling level of liquid in your mug. "Refill?" Nice place in general, very quiet and a great place to study! However one of the workers came to where a friend I were sitting and was said these tables are for paying customers! Had the slow bru... paid $3 for ~3.5 oz of liquid... waited 15min to get it in an otherwise empty shop during a lazy afternoon... had it served haphazardly in an open 9oz clear plastic solo cup... and I'll be honest - all of this would have OK with me had it not been very bitter/aciidic (maybe leftovers from last week?) and uncharacteristically flavorless (not delicate) for a cold brew coffee. There is the slow drip tower on the counter, which is false advertising because my cup came from the bottom slag of a mysterious large jug pulled off a shelf (unless the one on the counter is for show, and they pour the leftover 'drippings' into that jug every night - I get it, you have to make it ahead of time and store it, but my cup was not worth the time it takes to make it). The regular drip we got was good and made fresh, but we have a Technivorm Moccamaster at home and it beats any coffee/coffee drink we had there - and I could have made a pot high of quality coffee of in the time it took to get one cup. A note to those entering the store: Just having all of the high end coffee accoutrements and brewing paraphernalia on hand does not guarantee that you will get a good coffee experience. These tools require practice and knowledge, and if the barista is not on top of their game you will not get what you should (and you are only paying for the experience, not the quality of the product). I really wanted to like this place. The coffee is mediocre. I've had better and I've had worse. The decor is nice and creates a nice atmosphere. But it's tiny and easily gets loud with 5 people inside. The employees are GREAT. They deserve a raise. They are kind, diligent, and caring. The owner, however, acts like a 2 year old. He is very rude, haughty, and likes to cause problems even if unnecessary. He sends out negative vibes and the coffee isn't good enough for me to overlook this. read more

This review is for the Harvest location on University. I, along with my six roommates, are frequent visitors of this location. We love it and their harvest lattes. In the many many many times I have been to this location, I have never experienced good customer service. The baristas seem to change every month and the owners and/or managers (i'm not sure who is it) are not welcoming and frankly not very nice. I really love this location and the aesthetic of this location but the atmosphere and needs to be attended to. Most of my friends have stopped coming due the lack of customer service. read more

It's a shame because the ambiance and work space here is nice. I really want to like this coffee shop, but our coffee took over 20 mins to make and was awful. I'm a big cold brew fan, so I tried their slo bru. The weakest and most watered down iced coffee I have ever had. My girlfriend tried the Chemex and it was also really weak. It wasn't even the right color. It looked like tea. Just inexcusable. It wasn't even that crowded. read more

I LOVED my experience at the Harvest Coffee Bar. I thought the visual appearance was unique, rustic and relaxing. I would have liked more soft chair options. This is definitely the best coffee in BCS! We had an amazing natural processed coffee on Chemex and bought Costa Rican beans. The atmosphere is chill, the decor urban, and the service warm and friendly. We met the owner at breakfast and came back for an espresso after lunch. Been making the rounds to try out BCS coffee shops lately. Found the Harvest Coffee Shop to be pleasantly different than the others. Smaller in size, so not as crowded. Ambience is fantastically vintage, post-industrial with exposed brick and heavy beam ceilings. The Mocha Latte was excellent - not too sweet but just sweet enough. Chicken salad sandwich was fabulous as well. Quick friendly service - loved the experience! read more

This little gem is tucked in a nice corner in historic downtown Bryan. I went here on Halloween night after dinner with two friends of mine to avoid the crowd in College Station, and it was surprisingly calm and quiet here. I like the red-brick, run-down look inside the cafe - that matches well with the rustic, nostalgic Bryan. I ordered a caramel latte, and it was actually delicious. Recommend the Harvest latte as well. I would definitely come here again! read more

My daughter and I visit the Harvest Coffee Bar as much as possible. Their coffee is exceptional. If you are hungry, the muffins are delicious as are the sandwiches. My personal favorite is the sweet potato and leek sandwich. It is extremely good! You will also love their cortada, chai tea and the slo brew. It is very well prepared. This is the kind of cafe I've been looking for since moving to college station. The turn of the century, distressed vibe is spot on, and the drinks and food are well done. The chicken salad sandwich was very good. If I could get it on a croissant It would be perfect. This is the first coffee shop in town I've been to that puts Starbucks to shame. I really, REALLY wanted to love Harvest. Just a five-minute bike ride (or drive) from my house, in the heart of Downtown Bryan, its charming interior and quality coffee should make this a place I'd go every day. Unfortunately, as most things go here in BCS, there's just a few issues standing in the way of it being perfect. The first thing, and something that I feel is very important to a coffee shop/cafe trying to do what Harvest is trying to do, is the music. I just...I can't believe that some of the stuff that plays there isn't considered a joke. I'm pretty sure they just have it tuned to a Pandora station, I don't think any one person could listen to that many cello covers of Coldplay songs. It's bad, real bad. On several occasions I had to force myself to stay and work, blasting my own music through headphones. Aside from being laughably bad, it's loud, making it hard to drown out. Honestly, if the music were to change, I could deal with the other small complaints, such as the faint-at-best wi-fi and occasional overly-loud group of students (can't really fault the business for that, though). All of things that are important when you're first starting out as a business - the actual product, the food and coffee, is great, the service has never been bad, and the prices are definitely reasonable - all of those things are done well. However, having been opened for a year, year and a half (?), I think Harvest needs to step up and decide what identity it wants to claim. It could be an extension of Mugwalls, or, it could be a place where people who desire a little more of an urban, artsy feel could frequent. Selfishly, I vote for the latter, but until then, convenience outweighs desire. read more

Food is bad. Coffee is decent. Owner is scary. I made a yelp account just to mention this. I was in a bind when my favorite coffee house closed early when I needed to study for the LSAT. I have a babysitter come when I study (non traditional student!) so I have to maximize my time since I'm paying by the hour to do so. The food isn't the best here so it's not my first choice even though the coffee is fine, however I was shocked by the owner's rudeness. I had come in with an iced coffee from the last place and proceeded to buy a muffin and sit down. Twenty minutes later I was briskly touched on the shoulder by the owner while I was intensely focused and he actually made me jump. He then told me that outside food and drinks were NOT allowed like I was some kind of idiot or deviant. I couldn't believe how rude and condescending he was. I was really shocked by his tone and he had kneeled down next to the table to be right in my face. He must have seen my look of disbelief because he started to question what I thought of that. My response was, I think you're alienating your customers. He asked me if I was a business major and told me I would understand if I was before repeating that I needed to throw it away immediately. Now I would have had no problem throwing it away if he had asked nicely, told me it was their policy, or apologized for the inconvenience. I would have smiled and said I was sorry and it was just a coincidence that I had brought it in to begin with. I can't emphasize enough that I was FLOORED by his rudeness. He must have thought that I was a young student that he needed to chastize and "bring into line". His appearance isn't the most friendly to begin with so he made me really uncomfortable and I left. Needless to say if you're planning on coming here you should be aware of his expectations and that he has no problem with confrontations with customers. I wouldn't be surprised if he hassled people who had been studying too long or someone who came in with a friend but didn't buy anything for themself. Patrons beware! read more

They have delicious coffee and a unique, rustic atmosphere. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because I wish they had more size options available for the "to go" cups. My husband and I are heavy coffee drinkers, and when we ordered lattes to go, they gave us a 12oz cup. Let's just say, we were disappointed once that nectar of the gods was all gone! Maybe you have to order a specific size if you want a larger cup, but all I saw were 12oz. and didn't see size options on the menu. The pricing is good and the staff is very friendly.
