    Delicious fried chicken and sides
    Gene P.

We read an article on FaceBook about 7 hidden gems in your state and figured we should take a road trip so we drove about 45 minutes. The staff could not possibly have been friendlier. The side dishes were very good all way above average and the main event was the fried chicken. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would it was that good and well worth the drive. We loved it

They have amazing chicken 10/10. I was traveling and stopped by to get food. The service is great too!

We would never have found this place if it weren't for Yelp...and I kind of feel like I was led astray with this one. I appreciate good fried chicken, and not that this place was bad by any means, but it wasn't my favorite. I could appreciate how juicy and crispy it was; you could tell it came right from the fryer/pressure cooker to our table. But there was something in the spice blend that didn't do it for me. Combine this with mediocre sides (as mentioned by most other reviews) and the fact that the entire restaurant had that sticky floor/layer of oil on top of every surface thing going on, it just wasn't a great overall experience. I hate to hate on a local place but dare I say head to Royal Farms instead? Just saying.

1/4 Chicken Dinner (with Mac 'n' Cheese and Baked Beans)

(9/3/2016) Stopped by for a late lunch after a morning of fruit picking at Larriland Farm down the road. Conveniently located on Woodbine Rd. just on the other side of I-70. Harvest Chicken is an unassuming cafeteria-style place in the middle of a strip mall with a Food Lion and Dollar Tree. I got the 1/4 dark meat chicken dinner. The drumstick was room temp, but the thigh was piping hot, light crust, rather salty, darkly fried, meat was very juicy, and stuck to the bone. Sides were OK, mostly canned and boxed products, probably should've skipped them and just gotten more chicken. Also had a 1/2 lb. of fried livers. It's funny, I bet not a lot of people order livers, wherever I get them, you always get way more than what you order (like there's a fire sale or something). They fried them fresh for my order; the livers were very fresh and moist, nice crust, also very salty. Place was quiet when we were in there, just another family with 2 kids and the staff having lunch. Surfaces were pretty clean for a place where you are expected to eat greasy food with your fingers. Service was direct and efficient (and yes, reminded me of lunch ladies from back in school). I'd totally come by here again if out this way, but next time, will eat mor chikin.

Macaroni salad base was the consistency of paste

We first tried this place a couple of years ago and finally had the chance to stop back when in the area hiking this afternoon. The chicken here is quite tasty but a little pricey for the sizes of the pieces (the legs were just a bit larger than most wings I've had) and most of the sides are not house made. I got the 16 piece with 3 large sides - cole slaw, macaroni salad and green beans. I did ask if the items I ordered were homemade and was told that the cole slaw and potato wedges were but nothing else but since my body was craving a vegetable I decided to go with the green beans and hoped that even if they did come out of a can that perhaps they had been "doctored" up a bit to give them a more southern taste - that was NOT the case. The coleslaw was really good, chopped fine the way hubby likes it; the macaroni salad was sweet the way I like but instead of being creamy it had the consistency of paste and I just couldn't eat more than a few bites. I was asked if I wanted to pay the upcharge to get the corn bread instead of the rolls that came with the meal, usually I prefer the dinner style rolls that come with a lot of chicken dinners, and in hindsight I probably should have paid the extra charge because the rolls were really dry, even with butter and jam I added at home, so these got put on the side to feed the birds. We also got an order of chicken livers for our dog which he totally enjoyed, then again he likes pretty much any part of the chicken. The biggest issue I have with this place that will keep me from returning is the fact that they add 4% to your check if you pay with a credit card and the only reason I know this is because when I was waiting for my order to be bagged up after paying I noticed a small sign taped to the counter explaining that policy - seems to me that if the cashier could ask if I wanted to pay extra to replace the cornbread for the rolls she could and SHOULD have mentioned this to me when I handed her my card because, even though I rarely have cash on me, I had more than enough to cover our check because I hadn't stopped by the bank to make a deposit yet. The place is filled with decorative chickens & roosters and they do have plenty of dine in seating not to mention bags of cold, fried chicken in the fridge for only $5.99 but this isn't somewhere I would make a point of coming back to, if I'm patronizing a local restaurant, I prefer one that cooks from scratch and that includes their sides not to mention doesn't charge me extra depending on how I choose to pay (it was hard to even discern if I was paying extra on top of the prices listed on the board or if I would receive a 4% discount if I paid with cash and now I will never know because there are other options in the area).

Amazing fried chicken. This place has been a local fixture for a long time. Not everything is perfect, but they make the essentials really really well. Their chicken is always fresh and delicious. I highly recommend getting their corn fritters as well they are delicious. They would be well served to make better macaroni and cheese but it's alright the chicken is amazing. They don't have biscuits unfortunately which would really take them to another level.

It's a sit-down grill seating around 25 in the back of the store at a gas station, making some good bbq and sandwiches and more! This day (Sep 2025) we were on the way towards Baltimore after a day in Mt. Airy, and we just wanted a relaxing inexpensive meal without any fuss. There's enough parking out front, though it can be a little tight. You just walk into the storefront and head to the back to order. Folks are always friendly. You serve your own beverages while you wait. The food comes out hot and in generous servings. We had a $10 "pit beef" and chose it with gravy on a soft bun, which made it a kind of bbq sandwich, richly flavored hearty thick gravy over a generous serving of thick beef slices. It was mostly melt-in-your mouth tender. A few pieces could have been trimmed better, but the favor could not gave been more delightfully savory. We had an entirely tender $10 rueben on toast, perfect flavoring, perfectly thin-sliced. We had a really over-stuffed $10 BLT with perfectly crisped thin bacon. And we had a fresh bright $10 chicken salad on toast with lettuce and sliced tomato. For $3 more each, we had zig-zag fries accompanying a couple of these, and they gave us an additional side. They were so generous we never ran out! Piping hot and lightly crispy. Of course sodas and teas, too. It was a perfect quiet little oasis with freshly made tasty generous inexpensive food and friendly staff.

Since Walker's is at the end of the strip, they have outdoor seating on the sidewalk. No fault of the establishment, when the sun went down, it got cold quickly! It's a little bit off 70, but not bad. First off, this restaurant has an incredibly oversized parking lot. Maybe the restaurant has areas I didn't see, but I was a little bemused. Inside, it's decorated a bit like an old lady house with country accents. It's welcoming and nice, if a little old. I was seated and served quickly. My waitress was great. I ordered French onion soup and a bison burger with sweet potato fries. The French onion soup came out first. It had a huge layer of cheese on top, but it tasted like white cheddar. The soup itself was good at first but started getting bitter. I discovered a huge bay leaf in it. That explains that. Guys, leaving a bay leaf hidden in French onion soup is a violation of Article 35(2) of the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions. My sweet potato fries were seasoned with a chipotle cinnamon blend. It was weirdly sweet and clashed with the burger. I didn't care for it and honestly feel like if you're going to season with something weird, you should be abundantly clear. The burger was a disappointment. It was fairly basic. It was cooked right, but every so often I would get a burst of salt. I suspect the meat was salted and not well mixed. My burger, fries, and side of soup came to over $40. I am honestly being more critical of them because of that. At that price point, I expect REALLY good, not salt pockets, a left-in bay leaf, and weird seasonings.
