Enjoyed my first experience at Harvest House. We arrived mid afternoon, so it was nice and quiet and the 4 of us were able to have a good conversation without a lot of noise. Our server Alex was extremely helpful and friendly. Our food was cooked perfectly, octopus, steak sandwich, potato poppers, waxed beans for a side and delicious cocktails. I'd rate Harvest House four and a half stars. Excellent draft list with a focus on local and regional craft breweries. Some of the breweries on tap at the time included Oxbow, Drowned Lands, Threes, and Monkish. Interest cocktail menu. Solid selection of whiskeys too. We picked up a large takeout order. Everything was packed neatly and there were no errors. I had the fried chicken sandwich came with potato poppers. Came with pickles and aioli on a brioche bun. Pricey at $21. Chicken was crispy and juicy. It traveled fairly well on our 10 minute trip from the restaurant. I also tried the periogies as well as the stuffed pepper and fries which came with a couple different entrees. All in all, definitely a tier above nearly all tavern food. Staff was very personable and accommodating while we waited for our order. Modern yet cozy atmosphere. Sleek bar with a huge counter. Large communal table by the bar. This was not our first time at this restaurant, but unfortunately, it was by far the worst. There was feather in everything -- including the cutlery and the food -- which made it impossible for us to eat. It was truly disturbing to find feather in multiple items. To make matters worse, the staff rushed us to leave, even though this evening was supposed to be a special one for us. Phenomenally nice and personable staff. Warm, inviting decor. I absolutely loved the tempeh stir fry. I'm vegan, and I've had a lot of tempeh in my day, and this was some of the best-cooked tempeh I've ever had. It's always refreshing when the token vegan options are not total afterthoughts, but instead, dishes made with care and skill. This was absolutely the latter. Had such a great experience at Harvest House in Malverne! Everything we ordered was really good--from the delicious appetizers to our main courses. I had the branzino and my husband had the duck, and both were absolutely excellent. Their tequila selection is impressive, and the espresso martinis were top-notch. We also had the chance to chat with the owner, who was so personable and welcoming--it really added to the experience. Our server, Alex, was friendly, attentive, and full of energy. Party of 4 we got drinks apps and dessert. Everything we ordered was good to very good except the Italian cheesecake which was surprisingly poor given everything that came before it. Super dense and tasted store bought. Our waiter seemed unexperienced and just not very attentive. Ambiance is nice. Overall not sure if I'd come back or not. read more

I have been to Harvest House several times and have always come away pleased by the delicious food. The menu changes every few months and reflects produce available from the nearby Crossroads Farm to the extent seasonally possible. The staff is friendly and ther drinks are also delicious. Highly recommend this venue. read more

A must go. Make sure to come with change because the whole street is coin metered parking and we were not prepared. Once you've got that taken care of it will be smooth sailing. The hostess greeted us with a smile and sat us right away. the place is on the smaller side so definitely make a reservation. If you can score a spot at the bar it looks beautiful and inviting. The cocktails were amazing. We got the blossom and the agave flower. The agave was a hibiscus margarita. Very well made and the blossom was bright zesty and fresh. It had a little rhubarb garnish. For apps we shared the octopus. A nice take with the chickpeas and tahini. Very well cooked not chewy or burnt. We also got the chef's selection crudo. It was oysters. I love oysters so I thought it was delicious but it was essentially fancy plated raw oysters. For our entree we shared the steak sandwich. The short rib was tender and buttery. The apricot spread, nicely cut through the richness of the meat tucked in side the soft but crispy bread. It was accompanied by their signature potato popovers. Loveddd them! Cheesy warm and a nice crunchy outside. For dessert we got a round of the espresso martinis! The drinks take a long time to come out but our water glasses were never empty and our server was nice and actually recommended the octopus because we were torn between that and the cavateli. The selection of gluten-free vegan options were great. The servers and the atmosphere were nice as well. The farm to table aspect great. Everything was fresh and tasty. This place has been open for a few months and I just got around to checking it out, but wish I got here sooner. I went a bit earlier on a weeknight and squeezed into the last seat at the bar, the dining room started to fill up a bit later. The bartender Ausra was super attentive, my water glass was always full and when I said I couldn't decide between a couple of the apps, she asked a few questions about what I like and then recommended the beef tartare. Totally unlike any tartare I've ever had. It was bright and herby, with a zing from the pickled carrots, I loved it. I had the pork chop as my entree and it was stuffed with prosciutto and cheese and served with potato purée, so good. It's easy to get to, maybe two minutes off the southern state, and there's a bunch of parking nearby. The bar stayed busy, and seemed like a very local crowd. Two couples who hadn't known each other started talking about how they had both been there over the weekend too. I think everyone who worked there stopped by at some point to introduce themselves and ask how I was enjoying the food, to clear a plate, if I needed another drink, etc. Great food and great service I will be back! read more

We went for a date night dinner based on a review I read in Newsday. I'd like to give 3.5 and unfortunately I need to lean towards 3 instead of 4 when we factor it all in. The food and drink menu is small, which I usually like because that typically means everything is fresh and they can hit on them all. We had a tequila drink and bourbon drink and they were a miss, and there was no mention of a black salt rim when ordering the tequila drink (not a margarita). It was a Saturday night and the place wasn't too packed but things took extremely long. I'm fine with a delay provided there's communication. Eventually the server did apologize for the wait but she didn't run any of the food and barely hit our table so a part of the reason 3 vs 4 star is service. We had the cod and the strip. The cod by itself was off, and less fresh tasting than expected, the broth was great and made up for it. The strip (mid-rare) was cooked right but not quite the quality of cut you're expecting when paying $50+. Side of Brussels sprouts were delicious and it was a nice night out overall - just hoping for better. read more

Our third visit to Harvest House and it continues to be a go to experience. Wonderful starters...an amazing Butternut Squash soup, an excellent and delicious Crudo, and a delicious refreshing Fall Salad ( they have a quarterly seasonal menu plus specials). If you are a fan of mussels, definitely order them here. Branzino, the Short Rib Special and my favorite, a beautifully prepared and presented Icelandic COD were all hits with our group of 6. We ordered white asparagus soup as appetizers and burgers for dinner. We ordered Malverne Mules as our cocktails. We were served our hot delicious soup, then the cocktails came. Totally wrong order. We should have been served our drinks first possibly ordering a second one before the soup. We didn't drink the mules since we were eating the soup. So that was upsetting paying for cocktails we couldn't enjoy. Burgers were delicious but the restaurant missed an opportunity to make us regular customers The food was good and the restaurant was clean. If you are looking for a menu that offers dishes that are different from the run of the mill this is the place for you. Presentation is beautiful and the food is delicious. We had the pleasure of speaking with one of the owners and he explained how they pride themselves on using fresh not frozen ingredients and the produce is from a local farm.
