Went here for brunch. Had a reservation and was seated right away. There were a couple larger parties there but still could hear ourselves talk. Our server was really nice and took our order pretty quick. I got the chicken and pancakes which came with a blueberry bourbon compote, which was very good! The chicken fingers were crispy and seasoned well. The pancakes were good and actually paired really well with the chicken. The George in Rockville Centre is one of my go to spots for both brunch and dinner. The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, and the staff is super friendly and attentive. The cocktails here are top notch, I especially love their espresso martinis. Food-wise, everything I've tried has been delicious, but the chicken pot pie deserves a special mention -- it's hearty, flavorful, and just hits the spot. The brisket grilled cheese is out of this world, seriously one of those dishes you'll crave after ( but be prepared to ROLL out of there ) And if you have room for dessert, the banana pudding is an absolute must, it's creamy, sweet, and easily one of my all-time favorites. I had an enjoyable evening with friends at this cozy tavern. Our booth was extra comfy and it was family friendly. My sangria was a little spicy but good. The dry rub wings and calamari were delicious. The entree orders were big portions with plenty to take home. I enjoyed the lemon chicken with mashed potatoes, artichoke and capers. My parents took my husband and I to The George as they have been plenty of times and we were very impressed. The atmosphere is nice and busy, but I love the concept of all the pictures of famous people named George spread across the restaurant. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Fondue for the table and it was the best I ever had! I could eat that for every meal. We also ordered the wings and then everybody got their own entree! The food is good but with some issues, the interior is nice with a cleanly tavern vibe, and the servers are nice but the place gets crowded and wait times are a bit longer than you'd think. TLDR; order appetizers and drinks I'd say the ribs, salmon, and prickly pear cocktail are your best bets. The apple tart came out lukewarm warm which was disappointing but the molten lava cake was heated up well. This place has its loyal customers and it's easy to see why. The service was good. The ambiance was nice. However the food, didn't meet expectations. The complimentary bread service was good. The waygu pigs in a blanket was cold on the inside, and dough was not cooked enough. It was like they quickly flash fried it, so the outside was as done as it could be while the inside didn't have enough time to fully cook. The Mac n cheese was completely flavorless. Nothing was going to save it. The chicken fingers in a basket also lacked flavor. The fries weren't even cooked. Some were still cold. It was the night before Christmas and it was absolutely packed wall to wall. They had a party going on but offered us the bar. If you know me you know I love a good Branzino, I saw it on the holiday menu and was excited. The Branzino I received was cooked to perfection, I didn't know how I would feel about the red sauce but it was surprisingly good. Super cute brunch spot, huge, shareable portions. Party of 3, we were seated immediately, waitress was very friendly and attentive. We started with the wings & pigs in blanket, both were very good. The pigs in blanket were cut similar to a sushi roll, perfect size for snacking. We all ordered handhelds, I had the tavern tidbits which is a steak sandwich, the steak was cut very thin and was very tender, my friends had the hot chicken sandwich (great flavor) & short rib grilled cheese. The portions are so large we each tried a piece of each sandwich and had 1/2 to take home! All served with fries. For cocktails we started with espresso martinis then switched to their dirty pickle martini which is a dirty martini + pickle juice and a tajin rim, definitely a must try if you are a pickle lover! We had a very good experience at the George! Love the new ambiance and feel. It was packed on a Saturday night and very lively which we enjoyed. Overall the food was really good- ahi tuna was perfect, steak cooked well and the Brussels and fries were a nice compliment to the meal. The deviled eggs were the only lackluster item- they needed more flavor and perhaps bacon so there's a crunch? Our drinks were also on point! Tasty with the right amount of alcohol. This place was surprisingly good! Quick service (at least at 6:30), surprisingly good bar selection (with decent prices on some allocated bourbon) and good food with decent portions. Decour was cute, with various famous Georges mounted along the walls. If I had 2 minor notes, the first is that the sauces could use a liiiittle bit of flour and/or cornstarch slurry. While both the chicken pot pie my girlfriend got and ribs I got were plenty flavorful (huge kudos for the pastry on the pot pie) both sauces were a little loose/soupy. Also I know this place is small and trying to maximize its space it's pretty packed together leading to both a louder experience as more people pack in next to you and as you attempt to move around the restaurant. read more

My family made a party at The George this past weekend for my 65th Bday! There were approximately 55 guests. Everything was perfect!! Manager Lauren and her staff are simply put, Rock Stars!! They outdid themselves. Service was first class all the way. and Omar in the Kitchen -amazing!! We had several different appys including shrimp, hummus, veggies, and some others. The main course choices included sesame ribs, salmon and chicken parm with several different veggies and a pasta. Everything was served buffet and there was plenty!! Great spot! Service is awesome and the restaurant is beautiful. Like a very upscale pub. The lemon chicken was awesome. It comes with zucchini spirals and the chicken is perfectly cooked. The Gorgonzola bread is a great app- it's not fancy at all..but it's DELICIOUS. The fries are cooked perfectly...the entire table agreed these were outstanding. The menu is extensive, lots of choices from apps, sandwiches, small plates, full entrees.... Something for everyone. My wife and I went with two dishes you just don't see very often. Chicken Dianne and Beef Stroganoff (made with short rib). Simply amazing. My daughter had the Delmonico steak, ($38) and I must say, for the price point, it was a banger. The service was on point as our server, Alyssa G constantly had a smile on her face regardless of how busy she was. She was incredibly attentive as well. On top of all this, the bottom line was extremely reasonable. For three people, two drinks, two apps, three entrees, and two deserts the cost was just tad over $200. That's remarkable considering how good the food was. The only downside, and this is kind of nitpicking, is that the space is a little small for how busy it was. My husband wanted to order steak tid bits but when i asked for them Medium rare they told me they were pre-cooked and are only served WELL DONE. if i am ordering beef / steak i do not want it pre-cooked and not as I like it ... I don't have a review because we were not allowed in. My mom, sister and I went to The George on Saturday at 4:15 pm. When we walked in, they were finishing up a party. We went to go sit at the bar because there was nobody there and they told us we were not allowed in and that although they were open , it was only for a private party. They said to wait outside in the sidewalk until 5 pm and we could come in then. There was no sign outside explaining this. if there was, then we wouldn't have gone at all.
