Huge menu, large portions, all the good stuff. I tried the Mediterranean calzone and it was stuffed with gooey cheeses and all the fixings within it. The crust was delicious too. Our waiter kept our glasses full. I also tried the rojos because I had no idea what they were and they were "famous." They were little potato crispy rounds with some good seasonings. I'm not from Albany and I actually despise this damn city but Harvest Moon makes it a little teeny weeny bit better besides the children that are allowed. Kids are no bueno in my book but it's a small town and I get it. So there I am, looking around for a good bite to eat and an ice cold beer. I'm actually headed somewhere else but this place catches my eye. Hmm.. a divey looking bar with people smoking OUTSIDE and a full parking lot??? I say to myself, "Why not?!" I walk in and the bar is completely packed. A cute couple allows me to "scooch" in next to them so I don't look like a lone weirdo by myself. We chat it up, I drink the local ipa which is delish- Panterino or something like that. They also had some other craft beer on tap so I'm liking this place a bit more. The music turns up around 8pm and it gets more loose but it's still a restaurant. There's not twerking or anything. Well I guess you COULD but I'd advise against it. So here are the important deets you Yelpers care about: Atmosphere: Think laid back. Think dive. Think cool friendly "southern AF" people. Think no smoking. Think Ashley as your bartender who is insanely sweet, attentive and makes honest recs. Food: Think Italian. Think Italian fusion because you can get any sandwich made into a wrap Think the Moon Meat Sub which is what I had and it was fucking yummy and cheesy and hawt dahling. This was our hangout place when we iced in Albany. Love the owner and staff. Great service and atmosphere. Food is not bad, not great, but not bad. Their pizza is good. However, the rest of the menu is satisfying. Nothing to write home about. Bo Henry has great restaurants in and around Albany. He just needs to update Harvest Moon. I still love this place and will continue to visit when I'm passing through. read more

They have the best steamed broccoli, I know it's only a side but it's delicious. They stay open late and charge a cover on the night I went (Friday) only $5 and it was not worth it. Stick to this place for lunch and a decent dinner. read more

After being born & raised in Albany, Harvest moon has been around since I was 10. It is where I visit bc I'm friends with the staff, love the vibe and their food is usually decent. Last night, kitchen staffer seemed ready to leave early. My calzone lacked almost any ricotta... but it's the sabotaged juke box that infuriates me. Song I've played in the past are "no longer allowed" & the obvious disrespect to music genres other than the "honky tonk country, cry and drive soft rock" restrictions leave a lot to be desired when offering the freedom of music selection. It's like what twitter did to conservatives during Covid and the election so enjoy your form of communism. read more

Harvest Moon is a great place to eat. I liked it when it was in downtown Albany, but the new location is better for many reasons as well. The seating is probably one of the biggest problems in this location. The tables and everything are just dingy. It's really dark inside; of course, it is a bar. There is live music there constantly on the weekends. I've eaten here several times and I can honestly comment on several different dishes. My mother swears by the grouper sandwich, but I honestly don't think it is all that great. It is fried and comes on a hoagie bun with some kind of tartar sauce. It is way too heavy for my liking. Their calamari appetizer is burnt almost every time I've tried it and I have had it several times. Their pot pie they make once a week is something odd. It comes out looking delicious and it is quite good. The crust is well done every time I've tried it. It can be a huge helping of food, though. Definitely one of the better things I have had here. Their Italian foods tend to be a bit much for me. I have tried their calzones and I cannot give it another shot. It was just way too heavy and the ingredients did not mesh. Their hamburgers tend to always be good and are probably the safest bet on the menu. Their little "fries" are good. They are little circular things. I guess I would call them chips more than fries. The parking at this location is pretty awful. It's in a tight little parking spot and it's off of a busy street. The owner, Bo Henry, is also a very nice guy. He cares about his customers and he would probably fix any issue you have. He also runs the Catch in an adjacent parking lot nearby. read more

In fairness to the establishment I probably would have rated this experience a 5 but I had to eat my pizza cold. Next time I will definitely dine-in. I would have also enjoyed extra egg plant and pesto which was a bit faint. Other then that probably one of the best vegetarian pizzas I've eaten this year. We ordered the calamari and wild cat peppers for appetizers. Came out fast, hot and fresh. We were surprised at how good the calamari was because we didn't think Albany had easy access to fresh fish, just geographically speaking. Then we had a small pizza and a Southern Thang sandwich as a wrap with tots. The tots were great. Sandwich was too, I could only eat about half of it. Staff was friendly, and I wish we could stay longer to hear the band at 10:30pm but we have a very early flight tomorrow morning. I would recommend the restaurant improve the lighting out front and in the parking lot. Little difficult to see but that didn't stop us. read more

Ordered a this after my employer had them cater lunch. The pizza that was catered wasn't bad, it just was very burned on the bottom. I decided to give them a second chance and personally ordered wings from here. I am African American and felt very out of place going there. The wings were big and chewy. The waitress was nice but everything and I mean everything was slow. I have no idea what was going on. There was a wait for the table and there was 6 of us so that was understandable. It took a long time to get our order in, it took a long time to get our food, it took a long time to get our bill and then took a long time to get the credit cards back. She apologized to another table by us too for the wait. I swear we lost at least an hour in all of that waiting. If I still lived there I would go back again and hope the service was better. They actually need a bigger place. They are very popular with the younger age range; but, something for everyone. This is definitely one of the weirdest places I have ever been to. In a bigger city, this place would be crawling with lower end people, but here, people dress up, wear suits and for a dive in bar? "the moon", as we cal it, is one of the many Bo-Henry establishments in the city. This one is different from their others because it has that sports bar feel to it. Don't be mislead though this place has more to offer than just a large beer selection and TVs. The menu offers classic American fare but I find the Italian inspired dishes to be my favorites. The purple pie (eggplant pizza) is my go to for pizza and the create-your-own calzone is my other. I have had a few wraps and I enjoyed them as well. The portions are generous so I already know to ask for a to go container as soon as I get my food. My favorite side by far are the rojos. House cut, circular fries cooked to perfection are always on my plate no matter what I order. I'm pretty sure no matter what you order you'll be satisfied. That said, the pizza is pretty tasty and the beer list is extensive. If you like a good craft beer, Harvest Moon has a great selection of microbrews and seasonals. Finally found time to check this place out! Early weeknight dinner and a relaxed atmosphere. Good selection of beer and an interesting menu with something for almost everyone.
