I was in Albany to run a marathon in 2011 and again this year, and my boyfriend and I went to Harvest Moon both years. From what we can tell, aside from the Mellow Mushroom, this is the only other place to get a good beer in this town. For beer geeks: Don't bother checking the draft list -- it's terrible. The saving grace is the bottle list, which includes Founders Breakfast Stout. However, no matter what, they bring you a beer with a frosted glass. They apparently can't give you a glass any other way (no really -- that's what our server said). Food: For what we've had, it's good for a bar. I recommend the pizza and the calzones. Service: They'll stop by to check on you a lot, but you can see that they're trying hard and care. Definitely a friendly staff. Overall: If you're in Albany and need a place to eat and grab a beer, stop by here, as it's one of the solid establishments in this town. Because of the location, it gets 4 stars (In Atlanta, I would give it would get 3). read more

Finally found time to check this place out! Early weeknight dinner and a relaxed atmosphere. Good selection of beer and an interesting menu with something for almost everyone. I have been to this place about 3 times, I have been twice late night for drinks and once for lunch. Their service is pretty good and they have a pretty good selection of pizza, wraps and sandwiches. I had one of their wraps which was pretty tasty with their sweet potato fries. On my most recent outing to Harvest Moon, I went with my boyfriend and a friend. This place was packed and they had some local band playing southern rock, which was pretty decent, because of the band they had a $5 cover, which I was not too keen on, but whatever..... there isn't that much going on in Albany so we paid up. The service was pretty prompt and you didn't need to stand at the bar forever despite the crowd. Their beer selection is not the greatest in the world... dont expect much in terms of imports or craft beers, for that go to Mellow Mushroom. Anyway, the atmosphere was fun, and it was a fun place to people watch if that is your cup of tea. The place has a patio, which is nice if you want to have a conversation away from the music and the crowds. Love the ambiance of a dark, local pizza parlor thats trying to do more. Unfortunately, it just fell a bit short for me. Couldn't find anything on the menu that looked good, so, went with the house special, chicken pot pie. I found it bland and almost uneatable until i killed it with hot sauce. read more

Still one of my wife's and I favorite places to go. Don't think the place has been updated since my last review. We came here for lunch, my wife ordered the calzone and I ordered a moon pie. When they came out, the presentation has been improved and tasted just as good as we remember. My last review I gave this place four stars, but today gave them three. This was due to the dirty utensils I received and the dirty window sill where we sat. Not enough, how about the small bug that was also there. However, don't let that stop you from stopping by and visiting the place, just make sure you look over your table and utensils. read more

In the area on business in early January, the food exceed the expectations based on atmosphere. Once seated we thought our table was wet from recently being turned over. Upon picking up my menu- we discovered that it was beer and not water. Kinda gross. The menu and options were our of the ordinary and well executed. The fried banana pepper appetizer seemed so simple but no one could stop eating it. Most of the sandwich options were ordered by our party and all plates were cleared by the end of the night. I had the his salad and split a purple pizza. The flavors of the pizza were well balanced. I am always leery of caramelized onions at places I haven't been before. I generally dislike onions but when done right caramelized onions are amazing. The ones on this pizza were perfect. The salad was refreshing and broke the richness of the pizza. The only issue we had was probably on us. We had a member join the party late and apparently his order got lost. Once it was discovered it was turned over quickly. read more

Harvest Moon is great for lunch and dinner. My favorite thing to eat is the crustless Roasted Rooster. You can customize so many menu items, so the possibilities with the menu are endless. On top of that, there is awesome bar service every night and live music Thursday through Saturday. read more

This is kinda like a dive bar with good food. The inside is dark and not much to look at. They had a nice selection of drinks but it was lunch so I passed. The menu was huge though and I was torn between several things. My attentive and super nice waitress (Macy) steered me towards the fried grouper tacos and Cole slaw. My only complaint was that the slaw was real cold...can't believe there weren't ice crystals. She was right though.. it was very good. I destroyed those poor tacos. Great atmosphere. Great food. I have nothing negative to say about this place. As soon as I walked in the door I felt right at home. The host was the nicest little girl and it didn't stop there, our server was a character, pretty much a comedian!! It's a shame I don't remember his name, I think it was Nick, but that man is a keeper! First and last time we eat here. We ordered to go. I got the green calzone and it was truly terrible. I will go so far as to call it inedible because I didn't eat it. In the interest of full disclosure I had three bites of this dish, the last bite I didn't swallow. The crust was dripping wet soggy. I'm a calzone fan so I understand that soggy is a normal and often tasty occurrence with this dish. Alas, this was just soggy greasy sloppy wet from the ultra chewy extra fatty bacon. I think this is the first time I have ever uttered the words "uh, this bacon is gross".I didn't think bacon could ever go wrong, I have learned a sad fact this day. The red sauce on the side was super sweet with a tin can sort of taste to it. Maybe it was just an off day. A pretty big beer selection and a knowledgeable bartender named Reba that can set you straight. Definitely gets the stamp of approval. Very much a dive bar, but the service and the beer were very good. Very dark inside but the open patio in the back is very enjoyable. Our waitress made sure we were never without a drink. In town for business my group went here twice in one week. The atmosphere was enjoyable, not too loud, live music one night and a good drink selection. I was excited to see Terrapin Beer on the self. The food was just OK though. Everyone's conscious was that whatever that it was we ordered wasn't bad but wasn't special. Over the 2 nights and our group of 10 we had a little bit of everything.
