If you want trained chefs to open a place in your small town, and make great comfort food with an eye on prep, presentation, and filling goodness, these are the people you would want. We were so happy having our early dinner, and they were so friendly too. I will say all the food was great, but their house sauces were absolutely incredible. If I could give zero stars, I would. I've been wanting to stop in at the Harvest Moon for many, many years. The food we ordered sounded great. While we were waiting to be served, about 5 men started telling RACIST JOKES and were even encouraged by the staff. We paid for our beer and left without eating. As we were leaving the establishment, the employee said, "I love all colors," this after she was laughing at the "black" jokes. It was nauseating. I can't say if I'm more angry or more sad. As career operations manager I'm a bit of a critic when it comes to service & food. I haven't been to Harvest Moon since the new owners bought it (I know, I'm late! I work a lot in the summer!) These guys are amazing! From the moment I stepped inside the welcome was warm and I could tell they love what they do and they're proud of their kitchen and food they turn out! I asked "What's good?" And they helped me pick what we might like. We were feeling snacky so I ordered the Bavarian Pretzels, the BBQ Wings, and then got the Steak Bites to take home to top our pizza. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! I was expecting the normal bar food, and the last time I had a REAL Bavarian pretzel was at a German restaurant in Portland, which is amazing- but they did good!! I was impressed! This is worth the stop! If their entrees are THIS good they're gonna fill your stomach & put a smile on your face! On our way from Spokane to Coure D'Alene Casino we stumbled upon this gem. The best meal and service we have had in a long time! Burger was so juicy didn't need any condiments on it. My husband and I were out for a drive today and decided to go to Rockford and take Valley Chapel back to Spokane. We were hungry so (reluctantly on my part) stopped at Harvest Moon. In the past is all they seemed to have was bar food. It was fine. Imagine my surprise when we walked in and my favorite server from a former favorite restaurant in the Valley (because it has changed) was there. She knows how I like my drink! Found out the best parts of the former favorite followed the new owners there. The menu was not hugely expansive which I like because it means they focus on what works and tastes best. So many things got my taste buds going. They offer a fresh sheet and my husband and I had the beef stew. Fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. We will be back and I can't wait! Fun place with great service. Worth the drive to Rockford from Spokane. It's a quiet local place where they sang happy birthday to one of the regulars while we were there. Tried the sloppy Joe for lunch. Service was good and I was well attended to a sloppy Joe was flavorful and tasty and the tater tots were well tater tots but the fry sauce is very good all in all I give it at least a 4 1/2 star. read more

Went in two Friday's ago for the prime rib dinner. Got there at 6:15 (an hour and 15 minutes after dinner starts) and was told they were out of prime rib. There isn't very much to chose from on the menu so husband & I ordered the steak & bake. The steak has no flavor or seasoning, no veggies were offered. If you want a salad then you have to pay extra. Sure not the like old owners. The plate was almost too big for the meal as the plate looked like there was not much food on the plate (steak/baked potato & garlic bread) The owner was walking in the dining area and extremely rudely told us to get there earlier next time. To paraphrase Stubbs from 1909 "I've been thrown out of a lot better joint than this". So we stop by on a nice Saturday Morning around 10:45 (the time will be important later). And were promptly seated. The nice waitress took our coffee and OJ order and came back promptly. We then ordered our breakfast and off she goes. So we sit and we sit and nothing happens. My wife goes next door to to the little antique shop, comes back and still no food, no eye contact with the waitress, no coffee refill, nothing. I go out and take the dog for a short pee break to the park, come back, still nothing. Finally around 11:20 I corral the waitress and say that we have been waiting a long time and to ask if we were likely to see our breakfast anytime soon. She scurries off to the kitchen and comes back to report that the cook had left, and the manager was "plating up our food now". Um ok well it shouldn't be long. About 5 minutes later a woman who I took to be the manager/cook comes out and tells us that our food should only be about 5 more minutes. So, I ask, in all seriousness, not trying to be snide "Is that a real 5 minutes, or 5 minutes-ish? (We all know the 5 minute drill). I must have hit a nerve cause the lady said "Wow, you must not know what's going on. You can just go home". Well, OK say I, and out we go. So in fairness, I did not know what was going on, until I had sat for 35 minutes totally unattended. My question was serious because if it was a real 5 minutes I would wait, if it was going to be another 15 or 20, I would have paid for my coffee and OJ and left. We came here on the recommendation of the lady at Hurd Mercantile down the street, and the $1 coupons she gave us. We ordered a variety of things to share -- chicken strips, fish & chips, onion rings, burger. The food was made quickly, served hot, and looked appealing on the plate/basket. There was too much batter on the cod and the onion rings, and the tartar sauce they were served with was pretty much straight mayonnaise. The chicken strips were dry and needed a dunk in Ranch dressing to be palatable. The burger was good, and so were the French fries. Our server was friendly and cheerful, but she was not at all focused on what we needed. There were no napkins or silverware on the table and we had to swipe some from another table nearby. The ketchup bottle at our table was empty, so we got that from another table as well. Not sure if we came in on an off-day, but it was just okay. read more

Surprise, surprise! We took a little drive into the country today and stumbled upon this little gem of a bar! It happened to be Valentine's Day and there were decorations everywhere... So that was fun. We sat on the bar side and the waitress/bartender was super friendly. The menu is basically bar food but was very reasonably priced. He ordered the chicken fingers basket with onion rings (instead of fries) and I ordered a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with tater tots. I was really impressed with the quality of the food! The grilled cheese had black forest ham and was thick cut deli style served on grilled (not toasted) Texas toast. The onion rings were also cut thick and lightly beer battered, served with ranch. We each had a couple of beers and played some of those 50 cent pull-tabs... And we won $2!!! All in all, I did not expect to have such a nice day in the middle of farm country. read more

Amanda needs counseling or rehab for drug abuse. I haven't been in for over 3 years from a fallout. I've been in for 6 times in the last 2 months and welcomed by all. She was rude as hell and needs management classes. I use to spend at least $1000 a month years ago on family and food. She can't keep employees they all run away. Food: Average mid-priced restaurant food, akin to what you'd get at Applebee's. Atmosphere: Really unique small town hospitality and charm. Restaurant on one side of the wall, bar on the other. I would not travel to Rockford to eat here, but if in town, there aren't many options, and this this place is memorable. Feels like stepping back in time when you walk in the door. Staff are friendly and casual. I got a burger. Nothing remarkable about it. The steak fries were not hot. It was about $9. The taco salad has lots of flavored ground beef, cheese, sour cream, and some iceberg lettuce. It was about like the ones you can get at some fast food Mexican places. Cost about $12. We have been faithful customers for years.No more. Last carry out was a disaster. French Dip had 2 paper thin slices of roast beef. Basically, I ate bread for my meal. Never again. They have finally run us off. They changed owners and that was the beginning of the end. The 2 stars are for the clam chowder. This is a below average place! The waitresses are friendly but the food is not at all that good and it seems they have a very hard time getting orders correct. I got the monster burger from there which is supposed to be a 2/3 lb burger well it might be if you counted in all the lettuce and other things they put on it but the patty definitely was not 2/3 lb and the moon sauce they put on it is 1000 island dressing they make themselves and has no flavor so I asked for none of that moon sauce and well done on the burger I pick up my order and the fries are cold and the burger has that moon sauce on it, we took it back they made a new burger they add more fries to it for inconvenience again fries are cold but this time burger had no moon sauce I bite into it and it's not only cold but it also is not cooked to my specs. I give up on this restaurant burgers are one of the easiest things on their menu to make and they can't do that right they serve seafood here my opinion is don't eat it unless you want to be violently Ill or have a death wish. read more
