Found these guys at the Hillcrest farmers market. They serve an awesome all-in-one breakfast - hash browns stuffed with breakfast food! Perfect for a quick Sunday brunch. There are quite a few options, from the outer shell of either potato, sweet potato, cassava/yucca, or cheese bread to the 7-8 different combinations of fillings. The homemade salsa that comes with the hash browns is tasty and compliments the meal well. I had a potato hash brown stuffed with chorizo, egg, and cheese. The outside was perfectly crispy, the filling was moist, and the cheese was gooey. I also tried their acai, which is served sorbet style rather than the usual acai blended with liquid that makes a super thick smoothie/pudding consistency. Overall I would definitely recommend. I must admit, I was curious to check this place out since I saw them on Cheap Eats on Cooking Channel. Stuffed hash browns....what!!??!! I must go here and see what Ali Khan was raving about!! They're located in Mission Hills, and you can also find them at several local Farmers Market. And only open Tue-Fri from 8-1pm. We got here not too early, and there were a few patrons upon arrival. BTW, street parking only, but there's plenty of parking on the streets, so you're good! The place itself is pretty small with a couple of tables inside, and a few outside. So, basically you choose your "crust", you have the option from hash browns, sweet potato, cassava, and/or cheese bread crust. From there you choose your filling, and pick a side. You can also add an extra topping for an additional price. It definitely wasn't cheap eats, depending on which one you get. My companion and I ended up sharing the "The Breakfast", which had the bacon, eggs and cheese with the hash brown crust. It's pretty big in my opinion, and glad that we chose to order just one. We also ordered their fresh squeezed OJ. The food itself was good, definitely filling. The hash browns was cooked just right, with a nice crust to it. The OJ was definitely fresh squeezed, as you can see the guy behind the counter making it! They also have other items on their menu, such as Açaí bowls and crepes. But they're knows for their stuffed hash browns. I'd definitely check them out again, either at their Mission Hills location or at the Farmers Market. Especially a small business such as this. Speedy, tasty and they sanitize/ change gloves in between customers. There was a line when we rolled up around 11:30. You know it's a good sign when there is a line. We shared the bacon, egg, & cheese hash. It was really good. I'm all about the cheese wish there were a little more to balance the potato and egg more. Go to their website to find where they are going to be, they are a weekend experience. Perfect! Back to the food - stuffed hashbrowns. I tried the mushroom, spinach and feta with avacado and spicy mayo and loved it! They offer three stuffed hashbrowns as well; roasted chicken, smoked bacon and scrambled eggs and angus beef. My compadres tried the other three and all reported we should just plan Saturday breakfast with The Brazilian Guys and their Stuffed Hasbrowns. About the hashdowns, they are seasoned and baked in little cast iron skillets over gas flames. The "veggie" option I experienced with the avacado slices and spicy mayo on top was good enough it didn't need eggs. For a guy who doesn't eat meat, a breakfast without eggs means oatmeal and while this doesn't have either, I will skip my eggs and oatmeal for this yummy treat! Enjoy! read more

This review is not for their food. This review is for their hot sauce. I first tried their hot sauce at the restaurant Ironsides in the Italian District of San Diego. Had it on raw oysters. Amazing flavor and not a mouth burner. I was so amazed I bought a bottle from the restaurant. A little pricey from the restaurant. Then the waitress told be I could buy it direct from The Brazilian Guys at the farmers market in the Italian District on Saturdays. The first time I tried to locate their booth I couldn't find it and there is another vendor who sells hot sauces, but not theirs. So I did a little snooping and realized their booth is the one that sell hash brown sandwiches. The hashbrowns are the buns. Anyway I finally found their booth. It's located at the very west end of the market. Bought a whole case at a two for one price. Now, if you go to the Ironsides restaurant to try their hot sauce the bottle won't look the same as they put the restaurants logo on the bottle. I am not reviewing the jalapeno hot sauce here, I am reviewing the Adrenaline Roasted Chili Peppers Hot Sauce. So when you go to their booth just make sure the bottle says Adrenaline Roasted Chili Pepper Hot Sauce. You won't be sorry. This stuff is awesome. read more

They are mainly known for their stuffed hash browns but they also have açaí bowls. My friend and I decided to split The Larry Stuffed Hash Brown ($7), which is the hash brown with seasoned eggs and cheddar. It also comes with a side; we chose their Signature Avocado Salad. We also went with their Açaí Bowl ($9) which comes with banana, strawberry, granola, and honey. It took maybe 10-15 minutes to get our order because they make everything fresh. The stuffed hash brown was delicious! I love the concept, the flavor, everything! The only thing is that it was burnt around all the ends. That definitely took away from the flavor. The avocado salad was fresh and delicious! The açaí bowl was just okay. It was too frozen which made it too cold and uncomfortable to eat, but otherwise it was a pretty basic bowl. WOW. This place was incredible! I'm staying at a friend's in Mission Hills and was craving an acai bowl so I just went on yelp and this place was the closest. My boyfriend and I came here around 11am on a Friday and it was pretty empty. The guys in the restaurant were super friendly, describing everything on the menu and sharing their recommendations. We ended up getting an acai bowl and a brazilian pancake thing with cheese bread (the egg, cheddar and bacon one). OH MY GOD IT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE HAD IN A WHILE. Sooo good. So much bacon in the middle, which was cooked perfectly. It came with homemade salsa that was also amazing. I'm sad I didn't get my own, I'm already craving it again and it's only been 2 hours since I've had it. I'm gluten free so with Brazilian Boys being a GF restaurant and a Five-Star restaurant, this was DEF a joint I had been eyeing. We traveled to SD for the holidays. On our 2nd to last day, I purposely woke up at 8am (I never wake up that early when on vay-cay. I mean WHY?!? LOL) just to fit it in. I'm glad I did because it was worth it. The food is delish! It's basically a shell made from your choice of: hash brown, cassava, cheese bread or sweet potato. Then stuffed with cheese and meat combos. The first time we came, we tried the Larry, Big Head, Classic and Miniera. My fave was the Larry... cheesy gooey-ness with tender chicken. Yummmmmm!! The next morning, we came back and also tried the Daily Special which was a shell stuffed with Carne Asada and avocado. Simply delish! The dishes look a small for $9 but they are heavy and thick, they DEF fill your belly. NOTE: It takes a while for them to make so be patient and try to avoid the lunch crowd. Parking is limited as it only street parking. Location is close to the airport. They do accept credit cards. They have one small table inside and a cute outdoor patio with four small tables where you can dine with your dogs. The customer service is super friendly and accommodating. Very unique experience as I never had Brazilian food before! Service was great, they explained the whole menu to us as we were first timers. We got the cassava shell + hash brown shell. The cassava shell is definitely unique so I'd recommend that between the two! For filling we got the San Diego which is filled with vegetables and the cheddar and egg. These guys are usually have one of the longest lines at Hillcrest Farmer's market, as they do have one of the biggest booths and they leave their entrees out to see. Their stuffed hash browns are definitely quite a sight to behold, so I had to try it when I first came to this farmer's market. Unfortunately, it's basically only good in the visual department, and it lacks at everything else: 1) Size/price: with most of the hash browns being $10 or more, you'd think you would get a sizable serving, but nope. I was still hungry afterwards, despite the carb-iness of fried potatoes... 2) Taste: honestly nothing special either. Again, looks a lot better than it tastes. Somehow the fillings don't "integrate" with the hash browns that well. In addition, the hash brown I received was significantly burnt: I feel like I see the same in other people's orders (and even the hash browns for show that they leave out). I do like that they seem to have special utensils(?) in order to make their stuffed hash browns. I would not try again though. read more

First reaction, amazing service! A gentleman greeted me and asked if I have been here before. I said no. He showed me the menu boards and explained what they have and how it's made. I ended up having the "Hash Browns Shell" with Classic BKF ($8). BKF is Bacon, Eggs and Cheddar Cheese. Absolutely delicious!! Came with a side of Red Roasted Chili Pepper Sauce that was surprisingly good and a little spicy. Overall, all of the reviews posted for The Brazilian Guys are well deserved. I didn't even realize they were within walking distance from us until driving by one day and seeing their sign (they share the space with Cake off Reynard). They specialize in some tasty breakfast goodness and are known for their stuffed hash brown, along with stuff tapioca and cassava. If you're looking for something that'll satisfy those tastebuds, get their ground beef with cheese and plantains. Man, the first bite is orgasmic and it'll make you want to grab another one. I recommend getting one for each person as sharing half of one is simply just a tease. They do acai bowls as well. Many spots can make an acai bowl but these dudes are super generous with the scoops and pack it all the way to the top unlike other places that have just a tiny layer of acai and stuff the rest with bananas as a filler. What a cool idea for food. Great! Tasty and good portion size for those not holding a "big eater" title. They have decent outdoor seating for pairs.. definitely not a group spot. Not a lot of indoor seating and at times it can be a little smoky. Service was fast but had varying degrees of friendliness depending on who you're interacting with. We got a weird look when we first walked in and I wondered if I'd gotten the hours wrong. After a brief pause and look around, we were helped by a guy with a great smile and open demeanor. After 30 mins of waiting I decided to just get a refund and order elsewhere. Sucks when you're extremely hungry (pregnant) & are ready to eat.
