The staff was very nice, The esquite, was amazing. We both had the enchiladas. Again very well made and full of flavor. One issue,,(which they corrected immediately) the inside of the first relleno was cold, the replacement was wonderful.

Went here for lunch with a group of 6 and we all loved our food- both the vegan options and regular options. I got the Tijuana tacos with shrimp and it was so flavorful. I love all the salsa they've got on the table, and fresh tortilla chips. Service was really nice, I'd definitely come back :)

Great little spot in Northpark. We had a party of 6, but they were very helpful in getting us a table as soon as possible. We only waited for about 10 minutes. The great thing about this place is that you can order almost every item was a vegan dish. That worked out great because my daughter and her fiancé are both vegans. We ordered guacamole and totopos, chimichangas, trio enchiladas, burritos and tortilla soup. Everything was delicious, including the vegan dishes.

Immediately walking in, we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was tastefully designed and there was a lot of seating to where it didn't feel too crowded. Looking at the menu, there were a bunch of options to choose from. They have an extremely extensive menu with many drink options. I didn't know exactly what I was craving so having this many options was perfect to look through. The service was great and the waiter came with water, chips, and salsa quickly. She was very friendly and happy to give recommendations on menu items she liked! I ended up getting the Chicken Street Tacos (2) and they were really good. The chicken was a little dry but the sauce helped. They gave me a huge portion which I was very satisfied with! They were also $10, so for that price I was very pleased. Overall the restaurant was great in price, portions, and quality!

Warm welcome from Araceli the server. Chips, salsa and water came quickly. Ordered Breakfast Vegan Burrito. Huge portion. Taste good but should have added the red sauce for $4 to give more flavor. Fast service. Clean bathrooms. Luv the Lava lamps.

TLDR: Excellent vegetarian friendly mexican food - small restaurant that doesn't take reservations so be prepared to wait: food is excellent! We arrived around 6 PM on a Saturday night and ended up waiting for about 30 minutes. The restaurant is well decorated but pretty small. Once seated we had their house chips and salsa - chips were very fresh and salsa was great. For mains a we got their taco bowl and the vegetarian enchiladas - both were delicious. Lot of vegan and vegetarian options!

Amazing food and service! We got free chips and free refills on coffee. The chips were fresh and delicious, served with two housemade salsas. We put them on everything! The outdoor seating area is also very cute and filled with plants. For the main meal, we ordered taquitos, breakfast tacos, and the veggie enchilada trio. These were all easily made vegan and gluten-free. It all tasted amazing. I recommend the vegetarian chorizo as a protein choice. I'll definitely be back!

One of the best Mexican food restaurants in San Diego!! I appreciate the vegan options! My husband and I went here for lunch today. There was lots of seating and our server was fast and friendly. She helped answer our questions from the menu. I started with the ginger-rita with honey and a tajin rim. It was a light and refreshing drink. Obsessed! And to start we ordered chips and salsa and the chips were crispy, hot, and everything. Sidenote the crosses, artwork and signs were appealing to the eye. I was mesmerized by the crosses if I'm being honest. I ordered the trio enchiladas and my husband ordered the shrimp tacos. There is an option for vegan shrimp tacos as well. The flavors were out of this world for the enchiladas: cheese, chicken, and steak. The perfect amount of spice for the sauces. Highly recommend!! We will be back!

Ranchos Cocina was excellent! We came for a late lunch and to watch some World Cup. The waitress was friendly and got our party of 7 seated quickly. They brought us chips with several types of salsa. Every salsa was at least a little hot, and the chips were super warm and fresh-tasting. I had the Papa Ranchos, the potatoes were cooked perfectly and the salsa ranchera was delicious. The portion was so big I only ate about half. The burritos and enchiladas at our table were all huge too. Nobody left hungry. Good food (with tons of vegan and vegetarian options), cozy ambiance, and a big TV- we will be back!

We were recommended this place for good vegetarian mexican food and they were definitely right. The variety of different good options was pretty great. The staff was super nice as well. Carmen was great with recommendations, was fast and friendly. We got the soyrizo borito that they made in house with quinua which actually worked well. The homemade sauces they give you are super nice as well. Both were fresh and packed with flavor. They weren't too spicy and the mango one added a nice fruitiness. Overall a great place and we will definitely be back.

Long line out the door mid afternoon on a Sunday. Once I tried my burrito, I understood why! I've never had vegan carne asada and it was delicious, definitely worth a try. Take out was a good option- 30 min wait so we walked around instead of standing in line to wait.

My wife and I have been here before and loved it. Since we had my mother in-law visiting from out of town, this was one of the places we recommended and wanted to show off our awesome San Diego food! This restaurant is located in the cool hip area of North Park, with a lot going on in the surrounding area. The decor is lively, full of greenery and festive Hispanic colors. We were greeted by our server who was very friendly and allowed us to be seated at any open table we preferred. We started off with guacamole and chips. They also offer chips and salsa as a complimentary addition for dining in. I ordered the Trio Enchiladas plate with three sauces with beef, chicken and cheese. My wife and mother in-law ordered the ancient grain chorizo tamale plate with a mole enchilada. They both ordered the food to be prepared as Vegan. All entrees came with rice and beans and everything was delicious! I would highly recommend this place to anyone as the food is outstanding and the service is great as well! Quick tip: parking can be tricky in this area but there is a small parking lot for Ranchos Cocina guests in the back that can be accessed through the alley!

My second time coming. The vegan options and the regular food is really good. Our server was super nice and was really welcoming. If you're in the area, come check it out. Nice spot in north park with a lot to do in the area.

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

DJ decided on a house margarita. Both very refreshing on a still summer Sunday morning! The brunch menu has a nice variety to choose from, but choosing one can be a little hard. I ordered guacamole to start. It came with two delicious salsas. For breakfast, I ordered the pancakes and carnitas. I would say this would be the equivalent of chicken and waffles. This was really good! Especially when you drizzle the syrup on the carnitas and eat it with the pancakes. I also added a couple of scrambled eggs. DJ had the breakfast carne asada potatoes and eggs. Came with guacamole and pico de gallo. Soooooo good! The portions are huge which, in this crazy world of cutting back and charging more, is how it should be. I could only finish half, and had the rest the next day. Love when you can do that! Again, the staff is great! And the patio is well laid out for owners and their dogs. Cako Approves!

We had a reservation and were really excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience just did not meet our expectations. We ended up being late to our reservation because we were told that the Lafayette parking valet was full and that we would need to find parking elsewhere. We drove around trying to find somewhere to park and literally could not find anything, so we eventually had to Uber from a couple of blocks away. Obviously, some of that was out of the restaurant's control, but it definitely made getting there more stressful than expected. Once we were finally seated, things didn't really improve. We sat there looking at the menu for around 30 minutes and no one came by to check on us, ask if we wanted drinks, see if we had questions, or even acknowledge that we had been waiting. We were honestly just sitting there wondering if someone was going to come over. Eventually, we started talking about leaving because we had been waiting so long. Our waiter finally came over and basically said that it seemed like we weren't ready to order and that he assumed we still weren't, so we could let him know whenever we were ready. My friend explained that we actually had been ready and had just been waiting for someone to come help us. At that point, we decided to be honest and let him know that the experience really wasn't meeting our expectations. Unfortunately, the overall interaction left us feeling like we weren't really being taken seriously. I don't want to assume that it was because we were a group of young girls, but that was genuinely the impression we got from the experience. It felt like we didn't really belong there or weren't being treated with the same level of attention as other guests. We also mentioned that we were celebrating my friend's birthday, and there really wasn't any acknowledgment of it, which was disappointing considering that was the reason we were visiting in the first place. I will say that the aesthetic is beautiful and definitely what originally caught our attention, but unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed that for us. We came in excited to celebrate and try somewhere new, and we ended up leaving without even ordering because we felt so overlooked. Maybe we caught them on an off night, but unfortunately, based on our experience, I wouldn't return or recommend it. The atmosphere may be beautiful, but the service needs to match it.
