There wa nobody there and we waited over 50 minutes for our food that was very VERY dry and flat out bad. We got the cherry waffle and shared a black tea that was also bland tasteless and had zero to no flavor.. like for the price I should be blown away and I wa just very disappointed and ended up shame eating the food since I was hungry. I've now been here 3 times in the past 2 weeks and I'm hooked. The food is amazing- so far I've tried: the pozole, a monte cristo sandwich, and the buffalo chicken hash. All taste wonderful even from a non-vegan/vegetarian person's perspective. The alcohol free cocktails are tasty and the CBD add on gives them a nice calming kick so you feel relaxed and loose but with a clear mind. Finally, I've enjoyed a pot of CBD infused tea, which the lady working sweetened a little and even refilled the pot a second time. I am definitely a repeat customer and plan to revisit again soon. When I saw the Hash on Yelp and it was listed as Open on a late afternoon Sunday, my gf and I thought perhaps the Hash would be a bit edgy but in a cool way, and we were looking forward to checking it out, but it just turned out to be lame. I don't know why, but it took almost 45 minutes for us to get served our food, and our order was a fairly simple fare. The food was okay, I guess, but a bit on the cold side, and we both thought it definitely over priced; and the portion sizes were a bit spartan-based on the price. Maybe it was just an off day, but there weren't many customers, so the place didn't appear very busy at all. Perhaps, they forgot us, IDK? I was hoping to get a beer but discovered they don't serve alcohol here. That's not really a big deal for me, but it got us to speculating as to why? There seemed to be many references, artwork, graffiti, stickers and so-forth making reference to the drug culture. Well, with a restaurant name like "Hash"...Hey if that's your thing, I don't care. To each his own, but I'm wondering if maybe the people who are supposed to be working here are somewhere else in their head or outer-space instead of where they should be. lol. NEW VEGAN SPOT WITH MUST TRY PHISH TACOS! Found this spot when browsing on Instagram for new vegan restaurants. They are located on the south side of town. The restaurant is in a stand alone purple/blue building. The owners were very friendly and prompt with service upon entering the establishment. While waiting for our food order we indulged in some chess play. The restaurant has beautiful artwork all over the walls by a super talented artist. There are cool, relaxed, and calming colors scattered throughout which gives a very peaceful and chill ambiance. We waited a short time for the food (maybe 10-15 minutes). We ordered phish tacos. They were priced just right at $12 for 3 medium sized tacos. They were very generously filled with fresh veggies, fried tofu and a chipotle mayo. Limes were provided on the side and they are a must on this dish. The lines really took the tacos over the edge! These are the epitome of "make ya wanna slap ya mama" tacos. Lol. I truly enjoyed all the flavors. We also had grapefruit refreshers. They were imported from Germany. They were very wheat tasting and truly authentic of Germany. It reminded me of German beer but was non-alcoholic. Everything was very delicious and I would highly recommend. I will be returning very soon! Give this spot a try, you won't be disappointed! had a vegan friend visit me for a few days and we stopped in about 4-5x during her stay. the owners were a literal delight. they took their time explaining items and you can just tell they put love into the food. the place is really cute also and love that they have a vegan food pantry. last but not least, we enjoyed everything that we ordered, even my 15 year old was very happy. visit so we can keep awesome places like this around forever! read more

I love supporting local and small businesses so this is what drew me to this place. But the service I received was lacking. The girl behind the counter was not friendly at all. Maybe she was having a bad day, I don't know. But I watched her interact with other customers and they all got the same cold reception. Not good for business. I follow this place on Instagram and the owner (i think) seems to be very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, I didn't encounter him during my visit. I got the veggie mac bowl and it was ok. The ranch sauce they drizzle on top was the best part! The veggies were cooked perfectly but the mac was very bland. The portion is also very small so if you're a big eater, you'll want to order something else to go along with this. This place is located on the south side of San Antonio. Which doesn't mean a lot to someone who's not familiar with the area. We pulled up and weren't sure if we were in the right spot because of the set up and signage. The sign is not very visible and there are metal coverings over the windows. We walked into the start of a dungeons and dragons game night. We were greeted by the owner who was hands down the friendliest and most welcoming restaurant owner I have ever encountered. We ordered the phish tacos, chicken and waffles and a wrap (I can't remember). All I can say is all of the food was DELICIOUS! They don't use impossible meats (which do taste very good). Everything is made and seasoned in house! The owner has a free community store with clothing and other common necessities. They serve mock tails instead of alcohol. I've traveled quite a bit in the US and am always looking for great vegan food- this is the first time I've found a restaurant that is solely focused on helping the community with food and necessities. I am so surprised that San Antonio has such high quality vegan offerings. We left Hash Vegan well-nourished and inspired by the beautiful hearts of the proprietors. First things first - the food was absolutely delicious. We shared the carne tacos, bbq chikn Mac and cheese plus a yummy cornbread waffles with chikn. The atmosphere was cozy and hippie - my kind of style. There were plenty of games to play while waiting for our food and we loved zoning out of our phones to play connect 4. A little further investigation and a chat with one of the owners revealed the extent of their efforts to positively impact their community. The area is a food desert and they saw a need to intentionally locate themselves in this community (incidentally, it is where another of the owners grew up). There is an essentials pantry where people in need can find toiletries and food, and an art supply closet with shareable too. They foster dogs and have a water supply to help the unhoused people who share their space. These guys are special and it is worth your time to experience their little oasis. read more

I had the buffalo chicken wrap with Mac and cheese and my wife had the Phish sandwich. We discovered from the owner that none of the menu's ingredients are pre-packaged. The chef hand makes the sauces, "Phish", "buffalo chicken", and the delicious gooey cheese in their Mac and cheese. The food is like nothing you can buy in a grocery store because it is way better! As for the location itself, it is very unassuming as you drive by it, but once inside, it is simply decorated and gives you that homey, comfortable, and peaceful feeling. Was on the way through San Antonio and looking for a healthy spot which wouldn't leave us feeling too weighed down. Stumbled upon this gem and walked away with so much more than we could have even hoped for. We got the Chili Hash Bowl (Vegan) and the Buffalo Chicken Rice Bowl (Vegan). Each of these dishes packed a whole lot of flavor, but most importantly didn't leave you feeling heavy by the end of it. In addition to the food, the vibe is just awesome! There is incredible art pieces all of the walls and the space is well air conditioned (which really matters when it's 100+ degrees outside). The owner or manager, Roger, was more than hospitable throughout our entire stay and even took the time to invite us to the cool events that they have on a regular basis.
