OMG!!! Viva Vegeria is so delicious! We are not vegan but enjoyed the food tremendously!!! Our waiter Hugo was exceptional! He was kind, pleasant and very helpful to us when choosing our meals. The place is quaint and unassuming on the outside, but the inside is vibrant and decorated with beautiful artwork!
This restaurant is a GEM. Check it out! I grew up going to Mexican restaurants all the time- since becoming vegan is hard to match that experience anywhere. This place does the job! The food is always FRESH and presented with such care. It's beautifully set, and tastes exceptional every time. This is also super affordable. I was priced out of going to many vegan places I enjoy - I only visit them on special occasions if a place is $16-20 a plate. However, here my dad and I both ate homemade tasty dinner meals for $23 total. The service here is always so kind and welcoming. The vibe is laid back. They have a cute patio area to sit - maybe cute for a birthday party? Also- you MUST Try their nachos. I usually order a half portion to share. The half is HUGE. and full of volume on top. This is a small business with unique and one of a kind offerings. Do yourself a favor and add them to your weekly list! PS. I wish they did breakfast as I would LOVE their take on tofu eggs and huevo rancheros.

Always great service from Hugo or anyone there. The food always comes out hot and consistent, never had a bad time here. Love the outdoor seating if it's not too hot. The two house salsas are excellent with everything. No leftovers around here.
Veganized, gluten free Mexican food. A dream come true. I'm already thinking about my return and what to order. We finally made our way over here on a weekend afternoon. The restaurant was not busy and we were seated promptly. Service was a little slow, but everyone was so friendly and the good was definitely worth the wait. The atmosphere is lovely, full of color paintings and decor. I ordered the Trinidad Plate and added sides of rice and beans.I have to admit I was a little disappointed. When I think of chalupas, I assume they are topped with beans, lettuce, and tomatoes as a base. Then you add your extras like meats, chicken, guacamole, etc. In their defense, the menu described exactly what I received. One tostada covered in the vegan queso, this was similar to chips and queso. The tostada was crispy, even under the cover of all the vegan cheese, and the cheese was tasty. The second was a tostada covered in guacamole. Again, like chips and guacamole. The guacamole was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The third was my favorite by far because it was loaded with lettuce, tomato, and their picadillo. The picadillo was compromised of so much deliciousness- I think potatoes, cumin, carrots, and so many spices just cooked together so well. While I missed the layer of beans on the tostadas, they gave me what was advertised. I will refrain from ordering that plate again. Their rice and beans were perfect. Cozy and homey just like what we would eat with so many dinners. They were out of the Luchadora Nachos, so my fella ordered the Nachos del Picadillo. Similar to my tostada in flavor, but this plate was loaded up with a huge mound of chips, covered in picadillo, veggies, guacamole, and so much goodness. It was almost too much to finish, but we brought our hunger game. I'm definitely going to return to test out their tacos and enchiladas and I can't wait!
Yesterday, the guy who rented us bikes (we did the mission trail, highly recommended!) suggested viva vegeria as an option for vegan Tex mex. It looked good, but it was closed on Tuesday, so we opted for something else. Today, we were touring around and had an all day bus pass so we thought "why not?" We waited a fair amount for a bus to get us down that way (it's more than 2 miles from the Alamo) ... and then got off in what looked like the middle of nowhere. The restaurant is right across the street, but at first glance it looked like it was closed. Until we noticed the entrance was off to the side. It's in a building that was maybe a house or an office and has some tables in two rooms. Our waitress was very nice and answered any questions. The food is made to order so it is was a bit of a wait for it to come out. The food looked great, and it was good, though maybe not quite great. Felt authentic. All vegan. Very satisfying. And it wasn't terribly expensive. But then came the bus ride back. It took 30 minutes for the next bus to show up. So we waited a while. And then the 20 minute ride. Did we enjoy the meal? Yes Was it worth the trip? No Did we spend waaaay too much time on the bus? Absolutely. Sadly, this was our last night in San Antonio. And we have regrets about not going down to riverwalk instead, and enjoying the atmosphere of the area. This was just too far to go for a meal - even if we did enjoy it.
Another five star experience. I got the chicharrones tacos and was blown away by the flavors. My friend got the kimchi nachos and loves every bite. The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean and amazing decorated as always.

This is our go-to vegan restaurant in San Antonio! The ingredients are fresh, delicious and no preservatives! I leave with a full belly and knowing I ate a meal that won't affect my body like others! On another note, the tacos Al pastor are my go-to dish! I'd love to try other dishes, but it's just SO good!! My sister got the mushroom chicarones and loved it!!
This was probably one of the best vegan places I've ever come to. One of my brothers is a vegan, and we needed to find a place where he could eat more than just salad. Saw this place had high reviews, and it definitely makes sense how. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly folks and were able to get us seated quickly. The place looked well kept, and there were plenty of seats. There was even seating outside for people to enjoy. They played some nice music but not too loud at all so we could hear each other. Our server was so kind and friendly. He even made jokes with my brothers and made him laugh a few times. He made sure we had everything we needed and kept us updated on when the food would be out. Our food did take time to be prepared, so it wasn't exactly fast, but it was well worth the wait. We first ordered half nachos del picadillo and half classic vegan nachos for appetizers. Man, these things were huge! Could only imagine what the full plate would look like. Honestly, I think the classic nachos were the best, and the cheese was actually pretty good. They really layered the plate with chips and plenty of toppings. I would absolutely come back just for these bad boys! I had also ordered fried avocado tacos, and they tasted great. At first, I wasn't a huge fan with the sauce on top, but after the bite with the avocado, the flavors worked out great for me. My brother ordered bbq tacos, which were cauliflower; I thought they were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. My other brother said he had the chicken flautas that he really enjoyed, but I didn't try them. I think this place definitely deserves the high reviews it receives, and I would definitely consider coming back here even if I'm not a vegan at all. Be aware that food does take time, so expect maybe 20 minutes depending on what you order. Either way I definitely recommend this place.
Ordered to go today. The tacos are STUFFED and so am I. The food is so pretty and colorful but it's also and most importantly delicious!

I visited this restaurant with two vegetarian friends who are visiting from out of town. I've been wanting to check it out for years and now I wish that I'd eaten there sooner! Hugo served us, and he was very polite and helpful. The decor, murals, and paintings were all wonderful. All of the food was so delicious and fresh. The nachos appetizer was huge! It was a gorgeous mountain of food. The three of us couldn't finish the large size. The chips were crispy and the toppings were yummy. I can honestly say that these are the best nachos that I've had in San Antonio. I ordered the soft "chicken" taco plate. The "chicken" had a great texture, and the corn tortillas were excellent. The rice and salad were also good. We really enjoyed the beans! My dining companions ordered the kids' chicken tacos (which was a huge serving, and she took one taco home), and the cauliflower mole. They both loved their meals, but wished that they ate less nachos to make room for their entrees. My dining companions also had pineapple agua fresca, and they enjoyed it, too. I was really curious about desert but I had no room left in my tummy to try any. I can't wait to go back again. Next time, I'll get a small nacho and split desert with someone. Five stars. read more
It was a few years back that my husband and I ate here and I would try different menu items if I went back now but the menu was creative. Our meal felt more of a health focused meal than an exciting bold flavors meal. Maybe other items would have been more exciting though. I liked the atmosphere out on the patio. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! Visiting San Antonio, and added this place to my eats collection prior to. Stopped in for dinner last night. The original nachos did not disappoint! I got the half order, and they were huge! I asked for no rice, no guacamole, no ranch, but added Al pastor picadillo. My Omni husband ended up sharing with me, thank gosh because I probably would have devoured and regretted later. The staff was very nice, good service. Highly recommend. read more

This place was okay. I was pretty excited to try out a new Tex mex vegan restaurant. But to be completely honest everything we tried was underwhelming. While the half classic vegan nachos looked big and delicious it was not. It was big, yes. But not very good. They make homemade cheese which usually isn't a problem for me until now. It was more of a soup than a cheese and didn't taste very good. We also had the Trinadad plate and flautas with sweet potato. And I stopped eating both of them. I did not enjoy either dish. I can't confirm if there's AC. But there are ceiling fans. Which is not enough for the summer. I would not recommend coming here in the summer. I started to feel uncomfortably hot. After an hour of being here I started to feel sluggish and drained. While our waiter was super nice there were only two waiters. And today the location was completely full. As soon as one table was open it was filled. And some people had to sit outside. This being said we did have a long wait time. Which sucked. Don't get me wrong, the people here are nice. They're helpful and they won't forget you. But I wish maybe they'd season the food more? The food wasn't good and the atmosphere was too hot to enjoy. read more

This was such a great place, and so surprising - did not expect something like this around this area, and we would have passed it entirely- easy to miss from the front! I love this place.It's delicious,nourishing and it's offerings are consistently perfect. The La Pinta salad has a gigantic whole halved avocado,a generous portion of sun-dried tomatoes on top of a bed of kale. I can't really properly describe the dressing but it's a little sweet,smokey and tangy. Definitely complimentary to the whole effect it all gives.All of all the sun-dried tomato avo energy is delicious and SO fresh.I love it. Salad is a really good portion. Jalapeño Beet salad is wonderful too.Good texture and has a light fresh earthy flavor, cilantro is delightful with the beets. It's not hot at all so don't let the jalapeño scare you off if you like beet salad. Anyway,everything else I have had here has been good as well.Had the Verde,Mole,Flautas etc.All offerings with produce is high quality and just as fresh as it gets. Highly recommend. read more

This is by far my favorite restaurant to order food from! I haven't dined in but they have a cute area out back and a few tables inside. The food is always fresh and flavorful and I love that they use clean ingredients to "mimic" certain meat items. The mushroom chicharrón tacos are literally to die for. If I had to choose my last meal on earth it would be those tacos! The portion is so large I can eat one order for lunch and have some for dinner later on. Most entrees are served with rice and a salad and sometimes beans and everything tastes amazing. I don't even think I can write a review that will truly convey how much I love this place. I've tried the fried avocado tacos, the flautas, nachos, and the "wings" and all have been really good. The fact that this is a vegan restaurant is a bonus but I'm sure that even meat eaters can find something they enjoy and not miss the meat. read more

This is definitely a vegan hidden gem. First and foremost, there is no meat at this restaurant. However as a former meat eater all I can say is wow. The food here is so flavorful and delicious. From the first bite you can tell immediately that the food is fresh and cooked to order. From there fresh salsas, appetizers, and entrees you are in from flavorful goodness. We had the fresh salsas and chips which were very crunchy and perfectly salted. We each had their Tampiquene plate which was a cheese enchilada topped with their house-made sauce, a crispy picadillio taco, with rice and beans. The entrees did not disappoint. The service is excellent. Our server was super attentive and very helpful in explaining the vibe of the restaurant. The ambiance of the place is very hipster meets Mexico. A very warm and cozy place. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone vegan or otherwise. read more
I stopped at Viva Vegeria on a trip where I passed through San Antonio. My meal was so good that on the way back through town I stopped again so I could try another dish. Everything was vegan, gluten free and delicious. The service was exceptional and I loved the atmosphere and beautiful murals as well. Absolutely will return when I visit San Antonio again. read more

Really cute place with amazing vegan food. Super nice staff. We shared the Enchiladas de Calabacita and the Luchadora Nachos. Both were delicious! The full size of the nachos was huge, so plenty of leftovers. The salsas are delicious as well. I'm excited to come back and try more! read more
So friendly, extremely accommodating, and great reasonable prices for quality vegan. I am a MEAT eater and I prefer to come here because of the indoor/outdoor dining options, accommodations to BYOB and generally great tasting, thoughtful flavor combinations. Excellent experience! Glad we found Viva Vegeria! Being vegan options are often so limited. We had the Mushroom Chicharron Street Tacos and the "Chicken" Mole Enchiladas. Both were fantastic. The charro beans were next level. The flavor was by far the best vegan beans I've had...ever. Next time I will try something else on the menu. Can't wait! The ambiance was really good. A wooden structure with colorful painted walls. The art was so cute. Kudos to the friendly employees and helpful waitress. Again it was an excellent experience. read more

Y'all!!!! This place is sooooo good! I still can't believe everything I had was vegan! Each dish was nicely prepared with tastes that kept my tongue wanting more. The nachos were sooo good and can feed about 3 people. They were so good, I forgot to take a photo of my enchiladas before diving into them. read more
