A calm and minimalist spot for a quick coffee break in the city. Food (5/5): The sesame latte was excellent--nutty, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Value (4/5): Prices are fair for the quality and setting, though portions are modest. Service (4/5): Friendly and efficient, with the typical Muji calm professionalism.
We initially came when Muji Market had recently opened to check out the hype and safe to say it is one of those, "one time for the one time" spots where it's one and done. We ordered: Hojicha Latte Matcha Latte Egg Sando Two Onigiri There are forsure less crowded, expensive spots in the city where you can get far more authentic, reasonably priced Japanese snacks like this but you are essentially paying for the novelty and convenience of being in Chelsea Market and eating at a spot where you can pick up home goods at the same time. If you do bother entertaining the idea of stopping by here, the weekdays are less of a hassle than the weekends-when they get so busy and overwhelmed, items sell out quick which can make the trip less worthwhile.
Visited muji market inside the muji at chelsea market and I'd say it was a good time. They have an artly robot that does drinks, as well as human baristas too. I really enjoyed my pork katsu sando. It was juicy and thick!! The lettuce was refreshing and the sauce was next level. It tasted like tonkatsu sauce plus a bit of mustard for a zingy taste. It paired overall very well, plus the pickles inside the sandwich. Good flavors. The pork was juicy and tender, easy to bite. The bread was pillowy soft and delicious. I was impressed tbh because I heard some reviews of the food not being too good. But this item was goooooood. The sweet potato dorayaki was just okay, I feel like the flavors were a bit muted. Texture was just alright, I don't think I'd get this again. The iced osmanthus matcha latte was refreshing. I was stoked to see an osmanthus offering! The matcha was a bit light, not super strong. I'd like if it was more matcha flavor, but overall it was something refreshing to sip on. The flavor was fine. Good crunchy ice.
Came to Chelsea Market for lunch and did not realize that a Muji Food Market opened up here so had to give it a shot. I know they have that robotic arm for drinks but we just ordered a bite from the folks behind the table. They were friendly and checked on us as we were eating at the bar-like seating. We ordered the karage bowl, salmon bowl, onigiri and a lemon seltzer splash and iced tea. Everything was quite good and we enjoyed it all but it is indeed on the pricey side given the smaller portions. It's a cute spot, basically a small food stand inside a small Muji. We were here during lunch time on a holiday and it was busy but not too bad. I would say it's worth a try.
Came here to check out the robot on a Sunday afternoon and glad it wasn't busy. There's a kiosk right next to it where you can place your order. I ordered their floral blossom yuzu refresher and it was perfect for a hot summer day. You can customize ice and sugar level and I regret not doing it because it was a little too sweet for me. The robot is quite slow so I wouldn't recommend coming on a busy today. When I got there, the robot was already making someone's order and my order was next. In total, I probably waited 20mins for my drink so it's not a place for you to go in an out to grab something quick. I also ordered yakisoba pan and chocolate dorayaki. The bread in yakisoba pan was soft and pillowy, but I found the noodles too salty and it was extremely hard to eat and messy. I had sauce all over my hands by the end of it because I was trying to avoid the soba noodles from falling everywhere. Hand washing wasn't easy as there's no restrooms nearby and I had to walk all the way to the the on the lower floor in Chelsea market. The first dorayaki had a small fly stuck in it. We tried telling the staff and it was so small, it took awhile of back and fourth for her to give us a new one. The pancake was warm and soft, the red bean paste wasn't too sweet. The only thing was I thought it will be some melted chocolate but instead it was just a piece of hard chocolate sandwiched in between. Overall, it was fun to see the robot in action but it won't my go to place for food and drinks just because of the price point and efficiency.
In addition to clothes and various sundries and trinkets, you can eat at the Muji here at Chelsea Market. Best of all, you can get a drink made by the robot barista. A drink is a drink, but something about watching a robot make it is somehow mesmerizing. In between selecting clothes and finding toiletries, we got a few coffees and matchas made by the machine. So if you're looking for a fun little diversion from walking the aisles, stop into the Muji in Chelsea Market and try a drink made by a robot arm!
Muji's a Japanese brand known for their home goods like bedding, basic skincare, kitchenware, good quality clothing in neutral tones, suitcases, and their ample stationery including notebooks and pens. I'm a big fan, and happy another location opened up in the city, this time as part of the trendy Chelsea Market! This location for the first time has a "Muji Cafe" featuring a small menu of a few drinks and sweet or savory bites. The location also featured a selection of Muji packages food, clothing, stationery, and luggage, but it is a much smaller store than their other stores. Pros: The staff here are friendly and communicative, calling out when the dorayaki is cooking so people know that their food is being prepared. Food is made fresh, I was impressed with the deliciousness of the dorayaki, which is two small pancakes pressed together with cream, red bean, and a flavoring (I got sweet potato). It may be the star of their market!!! There's also a robot arm that can make you a latte, very cool. I came on a Sunday at 4pm, so the wait was only 10 minutes to receive my food. The only downside is that Chelsea market brings a bit of chaos, so seating was tough to grab. Lining up for the cafe was also a bit chaotic since the store is so small, with separate lines to try the robot or to order from the cashier. I would suggest you expect to shop a little, then grab a bite and go, maybe bring your food to the main Chelsea Market seating. But do stop by, it was a wonderful little experience and the food and drink were refreshing!
Cute Japanese store with some food options! We were at Chelsea market and saw this shop at the end. It looked like it sold mainly stationary, cosmetics, clothes, & utensils. It was small but I'm glad we stopped by! We wanted a snack so we got some onigiris which were fine. They did the job. Wish this market was bigger but it was cute!
I loved the strawberry Matcha! We had a lot of matcha in New York and this one was one of my faves!
I love Muji for its household goods and apparel and was super impressed by its cafes in Japan. I was super excited for the opening of the Muji Market cafe section and stopped by to try it out during its soft opening. I bought a matcha muffin and my friend got a matcha latte. In the grand scheme of NYC, these items were rather average in taste but really high in price! After tax the muffin (small/medium size) was $6 and the latte at least $8.... For these prices I'd rather head to a specialty shop where I know I'm getting a pastry that will allow me to sample a sliver of heaven. Or I should just go to Costco and get 8 giant fluffy muffins instead. The service was really kind - I think they were a landing team from Japan just here to oversee the opening so I'll have to check back if it's the same in the future. Either way, I'll stick to the non edibles when it comes to Muji.

Very cute concept but the food fell flat. We came on Saturday around noon and it was packed. The market is half cafe half food store. There was very limited seating on a first come first serve basis. We waited about 40 mins to order and eat our food. We got the kumbo onigiri, karaage onogiri, mini curry, hojicha pudding, strawberry matcha and yuzu matcha. We wanted to try the dorayaki but they sold out so get there early if you want it. The onigiris barely had any flavor and kumbo/karaage, they were basically just giant balls of rice. The curry could have used more salt and flavor. The pudding and drinks were decent. Overall, come here for the experience and the cool robot coffee maker, not the food.
The matcha was delicious, but there was a bit of a wait for the drink. It is somewhat pricey; I spent about $30 including tax for these three beverages. I came for the robot but it was down. For the location and price, I probably wouldn't come back.

Inside Muji located in the historic Chelsea Market is Muji Food Market. There is an entrance right on Ninth Avenue or you can enter through Chelsea Market. I've always enjoyed walking around Muji stores and looking around the store, but this is the first time I visited Muji Food Market. Muji Food Market features a unique selection of food and drinks. The menu includes Japanese comfort foods such as onigiri (rice balls), miso soup, sandwiches, handcrafted specialty beverages, and more. There is a self-ordering kiosk or you can order with the cashier. Since the self-ordering kiosk was busy, I went to the cashier and ordered an Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte ($10.00) and Shrimp Tempura Onigiri ($7.95). After I ordered, I was given a number and waited in the area. There are a few countertop seats and an island where you can stand and eat. It took only a few minutes for my order to be ready. I took my order to go, but some people were eating there. The staff were very friendly. The Shrimp Tempura Onigiri was wrapped with nori and finished with a sweet-savory sauce. I really enjoyed the combination of crispy shrimp, flavorful sauce, and seasoned rice. I wish there was more of the fried shrimp tempura. Sometimes with onigiri's, the rice can be bland but this was very tasty. The Iced Matcha Strawberry Latte was also very good and was a great balance of vibrant green tea and fruity sweetness. I would definitely come back to Muji Food Market to try some of their other items. read more

Was walking around Chelsea Market on a Saturday afternoon. It was crowded with tourists. I was in a desperate need for a pick me up snack and a matcha latte sounded perfect. I've also been wanting to check out Muji Café since it's the only one in the US (? Or first at least). The whole Muji was smaller than I expected. The café part was also smaller than expected too, but good thing is that it's quite empty. There was only one customer there. With bench seating, bench standing, and a bar table, it could fit 15-20 people. They have two kiosks you can order from - my favorite. I won't say that the food was exceptionally good or cheap but it was exactly what I needed for a pick me up. I ordered: matcha latte, yuzu salmon onigiri, sweet potato dorayaki. Matcha latte had nice color on top and they bothered to do latte art despite providing the drink with a lid on already. Taste was normal basic as what I would expect from a generic café. 50% sweetness was mild enough for me. Yuzu salmon onigiri was the star of the show. I like how they prepare it fresh, so it took the longest to come out and was piping hot when it did. Yuzu was mostly a dollop of savory "jam" at the top. I can't really tell if they added yuzu to the salmon marinade too. I appreciate how the salmon inside was given in small fillets rather than mashed. It was juicy and tender and flavorful, not too salty not too sweet. Loved the rice texture for being chewy and fluffy. I immediately felt energized after eating it. Sweet potato dorayaki was yummy too, but it was a contrast from the cozy onigiri. Forgot if the menu stated this was prepared fresh or not, but I didn't notice they had it prepackaged on the counter already. I might've not ordered it if I realized earlier. However I still enjoyed it. The pancakes were fluffy while also tasting rich from the unmelted butter layer without feeling heavy. The sweet potato was sweet but didn't feel artificial. It also came with a layer of red bean paste which was a pleasant surprise too. Having so many elements in the dorayaki wasn't messy or overwhelming. I only wish it was warm too. read more
In Chelsea Market, they have a Muji shop and a cafe, where you can dine in or order food / drinks for takeout. The cafe space isn't large and neither is their menu, but it's a good stop if you're looking for good quality Japanese food or drinks. On the menu, they have onigiri, bento (like a lunch set), sandwiches, sweets and drinks. You can order using the QR code at the tables or on a tablet at the counter. For seating, they just have 6 bar stools and a large communal table for about 8 people. If you like Tamago Sando (egg sandwich), you should definitely try the one here. At $8.50, it feels pricey if you're coming from Japan, but probably pretty normal for Manhattan. read more

This was a great experience! The staff were very friendly and the drinks and food were super impressive. The strawberry puree and the matcha latte complimented each other so well. It was the perfect sweetness for me. The dorayaki was so bouncy and I really enjoyed the texture and the flavors of the marscapone with the red bean and the matcha. I've never had anything one like that before and wish I got another one. The panna cotta was pretty good, I really enjoyed what might have been a blueberry compote on top. I think the snacks were a bit on the pricier side compared to other places, but it was definitely worth it! I found this out later, but there's more drink options if you order from Jarvis, the barista robot. Warning: Space is very limited (maybe 6 seats), but my friends and I got really lucky :) read more

overall, while the food might not be the greatest it is a nice place to just chill and be by yourself and enjoy ur food rose latte - interesting taste for sure, strong rose taste and i got the regular sweetness level but it was still decently sweet strawberry dorayaki - overall a nice little snack, spongey and a little chewy. nice little red bean moment service - workers were nice and were primarily speaking in japanese, first muji like that vibe - tuesday midday, mostly just foreign tourists but a really nice vibe. not too crowded seating area - nice diner vibe the chairs do swing back tho so just be careful of that read more
