My husband & I visited Hat Creek Burger Company a few times now and it's always solid! The food is good and their seasoned fries are definitely a favorite. This time around we tried the Verde Burger with pepper jack cheese, avocado, diced chiles, and Yellowbird serrano hot sauce so flavorful and really good! We also tried the Paleo Burger Bowl, which comes with a patty served over diced sweet potatoes and baby spinach. It was fresh, filling, and a nice lighter option. Well, I think it saved them that I ordered twice in one night because I'll be honest... that first order, while delicious, took an absolute insane amount of time. 37 minutes to get my one meal while hanging out with some friends. Not sure why they fell behind or what they had to catch up from, but the staff was friendly and apologetic during the wait, so kudos for that. The food is exactly what you'd expect from fast food--nothing special. The burgers aren't great, and you'd be just as well off heading to Whataburger if that's what you're craving. Most of the seating consists of little stools, which aren't the most comfortable. There's an outdoor dining area with glass garage doors that can be closed to cool it down, but the high ceilings make it loud. The concrete floors and unfinished ceiling only add to the noise. If you're dining with kids, there's a playground outside, which is nice. I was enjoying my first visit here until I decided to spend more money on additional food for my child. Unfortunately, I encountered an employee whose behavior made me uncomfortable. After dining in for an hour or so, my child wanted more food, so I went to the front counter to place another order. By this time, I had downloaded the app and created an account because I knew I would be returning. I ordered another meal for my child, but the female associate refused to scan my app, suggesting instead that I scan the code on the receipt. I paid in cash and handed the money directly to the associate. She returned my change by placing it on the counter, avoiding touching my hand. I noticed the name "Denzel" on my receipt and suspected he was the first associate who took my order. I saw him at the drink machine, confirmed his name, and asked about the female associate at the register. Denzel claimed he didn't know her name. Frustrated, I quickly asked for a refund and explained the situation to the manager. If I place money in someone's hand, I expect my change to be returned in the same manner. This is a basic courtesy taught at home by parents. This place has the potential to be great, especially if it adopts a customer service culture similar to Chick-fil-A. So a few years ago, I was taking a new hire to lunch and I suggested Hat Creek... it was new to our side of town. She said "ugh, no it was so gross. The fries were too salty" Allllright, so I never tried it. Fast forward to today, after a soccer game hubby and I tried it... and it was ahhhmazing. Well, amazing for a fast food joint. I got the Little Hat and added bacon & jalapeños. Son got the wings and hubby got a burger. We tried the regular fries, sweet potato fries and the loaded tots. I also got a side of yellow bird hot sauce and honestly I think that's what made it. Cool little patio and play ground. 10/10, would def go back. I visited your location at approximately 7:00 PM. After placing my order, I waited 45 minutes for my meal. At no point when I ordered was I informed that there would be a significant wait time. After waiting, I approached a young lady to inquire about my order. She stated that there was a wait time and claimed the cashier had mentioned it, which I was never told. When I explained that I had already been waiting 45 minutes, I asked if there would be any accommodation made for the inconvenience. She responded "no" in a very plain and dismissive manner. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it. I then requested to speak with a manager. The manager also displayed a slight attitude and stated that if they accommodated me, they would have to accommodate everyone else who had been waiting. The only resolution offered was $5 off a future order, despite the fact that I had spent nearly $90 on dinner. I was also told that the restaurant is not a fast-food establishment but casual dining. We recently went there after finding out most of their items are gluten free. My wife is celiac so it's not as easy to find gf options. Majority of their menu is gf which is awesome. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a playground for kids, and a drive thru option as well. We got the keto burger bowls, sweet potato fries, and our son a chicken nugget meal. Everything was great. They bring your food to you. The sauces are really good. We ended up going back the next day and did drive thru. This time I tried the buffalo nuggets those were really good as well. This will definitely be a go to place when we don't feel like cooking. read more

Today was a lot busier than other days that we have come. There are a lot of kiddos enjoying the playground. The noise is average for a busy place. It's also nice and cool inside and that is a plus on these hot summer days. Today I opted for the lettuce wrap. Though I was debating on the nuggets especially since this is the only place I can get GF nuggets. Honestly, being able to order GF food is the best thing! I feel that they honestly understand that a lot of us are GF due to medical reasons and I can tell they take extra care when making their food. The lettuce wrap was delicious! Super juicy. Their customer service is always exceptional! Being hard of hearing I can't hear well when they announce the names in the speaker and the employee assured me that they will bring it out for us. The Big Hat burger at Hat Creek is delicious. The beef is cooked and seasoned perfectly, and does the work while being complimented by the exceptionally fresh veg. Not to be outdone, the turkey burger is juicy and flavorful... add some Happy Sauce. The casual counter service format is managed great by the friendly staff. Location/Parking: The burger joint is located near At Home in a shopping center in Live Oak off the 1604. There are tons of parking in the surrounding area. Wait Times: This review is for a Saturday at lunch. There was a line to order that took 15 minutes with one cashier taking orders. It took another 20 minutes to receive the food. Food: Our order was incomplete when they called our name. We were missing two kid's shake and the hatwurst. When we gave the kid's meal to our children, we noticed one of their burgers was missing the meat patty and cheese. Unacceptable! The food was mediocre. The portions were on the small side for the price. Service: I could count with one hand the amount of staff they had. I feel bad and understand that it's hard to find good help however, I do think that the front staff needed more support. One staff member to be the cashier, take orders, call out complete orders and listen to all the complaining patrons for their wrong or missing orders is a lot for one person. I did appreciate seeing one staff constantly cleaning the tables and sweeping. Bathroom: The women's bathroom had a full trash bin and a non working towel dispenser at the time of my visit. Seating: They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Drive Thru: There is a drive thru at this location. The ONLY thing that made the visit worth coming is the playground. This was my first time there, & my first meal in two days. Very underwhelming. I bit into the burger & instantly noticed the pickle was cold. Caught me off guard. New package I suppose. Took a second bite because I thought the burger was cold, like fridge cold. But, it wasn't. So, I deconstructed my burger to put the meat against my lip to see if it was hot. It was not. It was, I would call it tepid, at best just above room temp. And, btw, he had just handed it to me. I love burgers. I rarely eat them. But, they are my absolute favorite thing to eat when my body allows me to have one. So, this was a pretty big disappointment. Now I enjoyed the fries. I like shoestring fries. It's like going back to childhood & just enjoying the little strings of starch. Well, I tried each of the sauces. Did not care for the Happy Sauce. Odd because I love honey mustard. My husband and I visited the Buda location last Saturday. We ordered at the kiosk and used our credit card. When it was processed, a screen appeared saying, "Oops, see an employee." I waited in line to see an employee and they got the manager. The manager said that my charge was pending and would fall off and she would take my order. I ordered the exact same thing and again was charged (a slightly different charge.). Our order was not correct when received but there were too many people there to care at that point. Frankly, the food was subpar despite costing as much as a sit down restaurant. On Monday, the charges were no longer pending on my credit card but both were still there. I called and talked to Zelia the manager (and I believe the same person from Saturday). She assured me in a rushed tone that I should write an email about the issue to her and she would forward it to the powers that be. She stated that this has been happening a lot and always on the weekend. I wrote the email and specifically asked that she confirm receipt of my email. I received nothing and on Friday, I called again. I spoke to manager Royer who initially told me just to wait--it would take a long time. I continued to insist and sent him the same email and screenshot from my credit card. He told me that he would reach out to me by the close of business on Friday. In his text, he amended that to say he would get back as soon as he has details. This is intolerable. I spent $65 for two hamburgers and fixings! Half of that was overpriced but this is not good. I recommend you not visit this restaurant but if you do, do not use the kiosk. If the option for no stars were available, that would have been what this restaurant deserved! read more

I wanted to tell you about one of your managers at the Live Oak, Texas location. Ms. Arnesia (or Amesia if I spelled it wrong). My family and I live about 20 miles from this location. You don't have many locations where I live, but the food quality to me is worth the drive. However, this time we ordered out of convivence. We ordered food via a food delivery app (DoorDash) and was devastated when we received EMPTY bags at our front door. Over a $100 food order and it was gone. I drove to this location with the bags in hand, and when I asked to speak to the Manger, I met Ms. Arnesia. She explained how I was the 3rd customer that had happened too that day and she had already reported the driver. She helped me to do the same. She was working deliveries and ensured us the orders were included and sealed. She was so sorry it had happened to me and my family. She asked us to not eat any of the remaining items for our safety. She reprocessed the entire order including the drinks and shakes. I'm sure being the third person with that issue that day during her shift, should have allowed for her to at the very least have some aggravation. She never spoke, displayed, or seem to have any negative reaction at all in correcting this situation. When I arrived, I was furious, and I left feeling so care for and appreciated and safe. After meeting Ms. Arnesia, I won't be going anywhere else for my American Burger meals if she is there. She has added to your quality and delicious food with her exceptional customer service. I can't thank her enough for saving our weekend and keeping us in good spirits after all that had happened. People make time to file complaints so easily but fail to praise the people who stand out and go above and beyond. I made time for Ms. Arnesia today. There was no sympathy at all, they blamed another Customer for driving off. Not once or twice while I made my revisit did they apologize. Filthy all over the restaurant. It desperately needs a deep cleaning. Bird poop all over playground and even turf is dark from the dirty area. What's probably the worst thing is that there was no soap in the sinks and no way to wash the tables from all the grease left behind. It's pretty much become like a layer of on the tables and the floor and very sticky. Please clean the restaurant. It is so gross.
