It looks fresh w/ flowers and plants. I looked around and the patrons around me were of a younger generation, 20-somethings & 30-somethings. Staff attending to us was very warm & friendly. Our coffee and food orders came quick despite the place being packed. I ordered a matcha latte, while my son had the london's dirty fog (iced) which is an earl grey tea w/ espresso & vanilla. Both drinks came out very good. I gave the Spicy Avo Toast a try & I'm glad I did. My son had the Steak & Eggs w/ chimichurri sauce with 2 sunny side eggs & roasted potatoes. It was cooked exactly how he wanted it. For dessert, we shared the "Get Your Fix" which is a Japanese style French toast flavored w/ espresso, mocha, mascarpone mousse, sprinkled w/ cocoa powder & topped with berries and a lady finger. So I will start by saying this is one of my daughters favorite places and this was my first time here and I will say that the food was decent but pricing was a bit steep for the serving size . I ordered the jam'n cinnamon French toast and it was probably equivalent to 1 piece of challah bread cut up into small squares which was tasty but portion was very small for $15 , my husband ordered the spicy chic fried chicken sandwich which fell short in the flavor department my husband said . We decided to choose a sweet and savory one to share since I had a hard time choosing. - For the sweet dish, we went with the Coquito Challah Toast. Coquito is a Puerto Rican Coconut Eggnog. The bread is dipped in Coquito batter and served with the same cream, then topped with coconut flakes and strawberries. Someone slap me a couple of times please, it was so good. It kind of taste like condensed milk to me. - For the savory dish, we went with the Hansel Benedicto Pizza. Marinated skirt steak, fried eggs, pesto, and kale on a crispy naan. The flavors layered well on top of each other. As for the lattes, I had the Creme Brûlée and I loved that they torched the top. I appreciate that it was not too sweet. Found this place on instagram and finally got the chance to visit. We were told it was going to be a 40 minute wait but it ended up being more like 20. I definitely recommend coming early as this place was packed. I even saw that they ran out of utensils and had to give out plastic forks and knives. The food came out kind of slow but from reading the reviews here it seems like that's nothing new. We ordered the Chicken Scoop and also the Peaches N' Cream (Summer menu). Both dishes were absolutely phenomenal and worth the wait. The chicken was really juicy and had a great salty/sweet flavor profile thanks to the bacon jam. The french toast was not too sweet and the fruit really gave it some freshness. I would definitely come back and reorder the Chicken Scoop. If you come on a weekend, you may have to fight for parking. They reorganized their dining room (Dec 2021) so there is more seating space vs when I came in 2019. The inside is very farmhouse chic and very instagramable. They have a beautiful flower decor on the outside of one of their doors where you can take pictures. The service here was pretty good. Even though it's busy, your server makes sure you are taken care of. I got the creme brulee latte and omg why don't all lattes come with burnt sugar on top?! It's brilliant. I really like the burnt sugar flavor on my latte and I think I got this the last time as well. Highly recommend. I also got the skirt steak with eggs and I cleared my plate. Visit date: SUN 11/12/23 @9am, Meal: Breakfast, Party size: 2 adults __ My husband and I have been to Hatch 44 at their previous location on Central Av 4 or 5 times, but today was our 1st visit at their new location at 25 New St, Metuchen. The restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived. We overheard the host say to someone on the phone that it was a 30 min wait, but after he finished the call, we asked him if that was really the wait time. Fortunately he did find a vacant table, so we were seated immediately. The woman who led us to our table left us with a QR code because that's how you view the menu (so make sure you have a smart phone that has a data plan, and make sure your phone is charged!) Utensils were distributed to us inside of a paper bag (which I immediately thought was a waste). Prices were noticeably higher than the last time we dined (at the old location). Not exactly sure what their decor goal was, but having watched so many episodes of "Fixer Upper" with Chip and Joanna Gaines, I would definitely say the vibe is definitely one that Joanna would approve of. Our server took a little while to get to us, but it was a crowded dining room, so not an issue. I am a basic waffles or pancake type of eater, so all egg dishes meant nothing to me. I ordered Buttermilk Jack (3 pancakes topped with fresh bananas and strawberries) and my husband had the Veggie Omelette and for $1 extra he had the cheddar cheese added into it as well. We both had regular coffee and we ordered (1) fresh orange juice to share (only 1 size is available which was the same size as the water glass). Our food order took approximately 30 min to arrive and our server apologized for the wait (told us there was a mixup in the kitchen). I immediately noticed that the container of maple syrup was painfully undersized for the quantity of pancakes on my plate, so I requested more syrup (as did the couple sitting next to us). When my coffee arrived, I had no spoon to stir my coffee, so I had to use my fork. There was no salt or pepper on the tables either. My husband noticed his toast had no butter on it and there was no butter served on the side, so that was another request. The cheddar cheese in his omelette was barely detectable. We were also out of coffee by the time our food arrived, so we needed more of that as well. Coffee was very strong and gave me a headache after we left the restaurant. The orange juice was watery and had a bitter taste, but we drank all $6 of it. My husband said the seasoned potatoes were not hot at all (they were room temperature), and the omelette was overcooked (onions appeared old and caramelized and the spinach was overcooked). We didn't bother to complain because it was long enough of an experience having to wait for our food to come out. My pancakes were very fluffy but I could only finish one of them (and I would have needed another container of syrup if I was going to eat more). Our bill came out to just over $50 and adding a tip of $11 was the icing on the cake. We paid with cash, but be aware that they automatically add the credit card "convenience fee" onto the bill, so just deduct that if you pay cash. This was definitely NOT a breakfast worthy of what we paid for it. We are currently renovating our kitchen so we decided to give this place a try in their new home, but I think the next time we'll be visiting a different venue for our meal. I wasn't sure if Hatch 44 Cafe would live up to all the hype I've seen and heard. I have seen it all over Instagram and TikTok. It is definitely a vibe, they are even had Bad Bunny playing. The place is very "Instagrammable" with gorgeous colors and decor. They don't skimp on the details, even the plates and ups were beautiful! My husband and I decided to try it out on Memorial Day. Although they were very busy, we were seated immediately. I ordered the German pancakes and my husband ordered the Fiesta Bowl. Both dishes were absolutely phenomenal. I was unsure of the Fiesta Bowl because the eggs are so scrambled they almost look like a crumble... but, let me tell you I am not a big fan of breakfast items with eggs and holy cow this was DELICIOUS. The German pancakes are like popovers, if you've ever had them. They came with blueberry compote and lemon curd, plus some merengue. We shared both plates and it was more than plenty. I FINALLY got a table today! I've tried to come here for years but the wait was always an hour. Today it was 15 minutes so we waited! I think it was definitely worth the wait. First we got the s'mores latte. It was pretty good. I love mocha lattes so this was the next best thing. They had a few other fun latte options but I'm specific to mocha lattes. Next we got our meals. My sister got the avo toast. It looked good. I would have gotten that as well but it came with sriracha mayonnaise and over easy eggs which I don't like. I thought, too many substitutions I'll skip. I ordered the veggie omelet. Really can't go wrong with that. Overall the portion sizes were great. The food was great. The lattes were good. I heard the host saying to come closer to opening to avoid a long wait time but it's seems like they always have high traffic. The aesthetic & decor inside is really nice. All done and envisioned by owner Andrea. The food--- worth the 2+ hour wait. We ordered, two cappuccinos that were served in gorgeous mugs, The Chicken Scoop--- Belgian waffle with juicy buttermilk fried chicken, maple mustard drizzle, a sunny side up egg and BACON JAM! Omg I could just eat a bowl of that bacon jam. It was the perfect amount of salty, sweet, and savory all in one bite. The Coquito Challah Bread-- - inspired by Andreas Hispanic heritage and her grandmothers recipes. Thick slices of challah dipped in a sweet coconut and cinnamon egg custard, pan fried and topped with a coquito cream, coconut flakes, cinnamon and strawberries. If it was socially acceptable to lick plates in public, I would have. The Lox Benedict--- smoked salmon, which I'm guessing had to have been made in house due to it delicate flavor and freshness, spinach and poached eggs with a smoky hollandaise sauce atop of two English muffins; served with a side salad dressed with a balsamic vinaigrette. Equally as delicious as the the last two dishes. Overall an almost flawless meal, aside from a few minor inconsistencies with the eggs and side of bacon we ordered. The staff-- Sofia, our waitress was attentive and informative. She did as much as she could for us to make our experience pleasurable after the debacle in the beginning. Tina, the manager working during our visit was helpful and personable. She was able to communicate our frustrations with the owner, Andrea, during what was a extremely busy day for them. Andrea, one of the owners came over to talk to us at the end of our meal, she was very apologetic and professional. After promising us a family discount for our troubles, she went the extra mile to comp our whole meal. Hatch 44, has a lot going for them. The cappuccino was not my favorite, i recommend sticking with the regular cappuccino. It comes with whole pieces of star anise that are super unpleasant to nearly drink and chew on. I went for breakfast around 9am on a Saturday morning and luckily I was able to be seated with no wait. My server was extremely attentive and gave me all of her recommendations when I asked for them. To drink I started off with an iced vanilla chai latte which I absolutely loved! For my meal I went with the Veggie omelet which contained mushrooms,spinach, tomatoes, and onions. We must have come at the right time in a Monday because there was a line out the door shortly after we were seated. After seeing the line we knew we were in for good food. I ordered the bananas fosters pancakes ( 11.50) with a side of scrambled eggs (5) and my dad had the avocado toast with the cucumber salad ( 12). We both loved our meals they were very flavorful, but I felt like they should have been a bit bigger, or had more avocado. They had a large selections of breakfast and lunch options that all sounded delicious. There were also some specials that looked seasonal. Some other cons, but I'm sure they are just part of being new. The tables are a bit camped together, we literally felt like we were dining with the group next to us. The ambiance inside this brunch spot in Metuchen is great! Very boho style inside and really cute for pictures. I got a thai tea with tapioca bubbles which was pretty good but not amazing. For my meal I got the Hatchatarian which was fried tomatoes, eggplant and cheese on ciabatta with fries. Sandwich was pretty good and portions were big, loved the fries. Only complaint was that the sandwich was extremely greasy, it was hard to get through even a bite without wiping my hands off.
