I really enjoyed brunch at Hatch44. Really delicious meals and really cute plant vibe environment. There is limited seating both indoors and out so getting here with time to wait is important. They give you the ability to wait for a text when your table is ready so we took a walk around the neighborhood in the area around the restaurant. We asked to be seated outside, however, when we got to the hostess desk they said our table was for inside. With that mix up, our wait was even longer which wasn't super fun as we were getting really hungry. When we were seated, we ordered the churros-style waffles, steak and eggs, and the vegetable only omelette. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. The star of the show were the waffles. I could eat that again and again and I will absolutely be ordering it again next time I go. They were perfectly sweet/cinnamony with a nice crisp on the outside. My hubs finished every bite of the steak and eggs. The outdoor area is pet friendly so we brought our pup along which is always a plus for me (minus the mix up of trying to seat us inside even though we told them we needed outside due to the pup). First time here, chose it based on reviews, lots of let downs :( 4% fee to use a credit card is a big turn off so bring cash! Very limited parking which obviously isn't their fault, just be advised. My friend and I came on a Tuesday around noon, it was about a 45 minute wait. There was construction going on inside so they only had outdoor seating/no bathrooms available. There's no ambience at all outside, just a tiny tent with a few tables. The latte machine was broken so that was disappointing since I planned to order one! I ordered an iced coffee with raspberry whipped cream that came on the latte I was planning to order- the coffee was average but I loved the whipped cream! For food I ordered 2 entrees (yolo) the Jersey Scrambled and the Coffee Cream Toast. The scramble was good, and the French toast was weird- I didn't like the flavor combo of the coffee and raspberry at all. I also didn't care for the texture, it was limp and soggy. My friend enjoyed her This Chic is Vegan (she subbed real eggs.) Bottom line- I seem to have picked a bad day to come here with the construction, broken latte machine, etc- I know everyone has off days but the food wasn't good enough to make me feel the need for a return visit. read more

Came across this place on instagram and it was a great experience. There was a small wait nothing too crazy for a Sunday. The place has so many beautiful small details. The services was friendly. The food was amazing, great taste and portions. The birria grilled cheese was tasty, so was the chicken and waffles. This is BYOB, they have a variety of things you can mix your Prosecco with. I'm not usually a brunch person, but I'm in love with this place. My favorite part about this place is the aesthetics of the restaurant and the vibes it gives. It gave me a nice feeling of being at home and being comfortable with my surroundings. The place was super clean and the service was great. I ordered their spicy avocado toast with a substitute of tofu instead of eggs and their chicken scoop. Their avocado toast was so tasty! There was some kind of spicy mayo on top of the avocado spread which definitely gave the toast an amazing flavor. Even though I substituted the eggs with tofu, the combination was great and I loved it. The chicken scoop was the most delicious chicken and waffles I have ever had. The syrup had an interesting savory taste to it-- it wasn't just maple syrup. The chicken was phenomenal with the egg, waffle, and avocado. The combination of their taste just blew my mind away. The only good thing about Hatch 44 is the wait and overpriced fake fanciness drives patrons to other nearby restaurants nearby when they find out how long the wait is. The Instagramable pic seeking patrons at this place decorated by a Hobby Lobby associate are noticeable and look out of place in their over dressed outfits especially when they have to "settle" and go somewhere else due to the wait and looked annoyed and bitchy because they have to eat somewhere else around Main St. read more

The food is great. The wait times are insane. They told us it would be 2 hours and it was exactly 2 hours or maybe slightly more. We patiently walked around and checked other stores out in the area to pass our time. I ordered their vegan omelet with a side of bacon and rye toast that came with plantain and my hubby ordered their steak and fried eggs with some sourdough toast. The food exceeded are expectations. I tried his and he tried mine everything was excellent. We also ordered a latte which was a bit disappointing. Their lemonade was nice and sour but a bit sweeter than what I would have liked. Everyone is pretty well dressed here. The decor is cute and trendy. Service is good too. It's better to come a few minutes (like 10-15 mins) before it opens or an hour before it closes which is when I noticed a few empty tables around 2:00 but it was still pretty crowded with people going in and out. Boy was I disappointed how long it took for our food to arrive. :( My gf and I decided to come to this place for breakfast on Jan 2nd 2023. This place is so cute from the inside. Has a little corner where this is a small swing and top of the swing it says Happy Vibes in the neon color. My girlfriend came ahead and she was seated so I joined her as soon as I was able to find public parking. Trust me, finding parking near this place isn't easy but then that's your usual downtown Metuchen. I was immediately greeted by a very cute server who was quick to take my order for a drink. I ordered a chai tea latte which wasn't too great to my liking. It was very milky and less chai flavored. My gf ordered a crime brûlée latte which looked amazing! The presentation of your lattes are served - I really liked it. When it was time to order the server was helpful. It took almost an hour for our food to arrive. The people who sat next to us got their food before and left and we just sat there. Apparently something happened in the kitchen which delayed our food. Our server apologized but overall I wasn't too happy with the food. It was okay in a sense. I ordered a veggie omelet with wheat toast which didn't come with any butter neither my potatoes came with any ketchup and my gf ordered some sort of sandwich with soup which wasn't to her liking. I waited 45 minutes for my food. When it came out it was cold. Now I'm no genius but I'd assume this means the waiter forgot to bring it out and it sat back there getting cold. Then he brought me the wrong check which was double the price it should be. Only reason I noticed was because I wanted to see if he'd comp anything for messing up. He didn't and instead also brings me a 100 plus check. No one came over to ask how everything was or checked on us. Horrible service. read more

Curiosity got the best of me and after seeing countless posts about Hatch44 on IG, I figured it was time to check it out. First impression-cute, super trendy, and very Instagrammable. If the girls want to flick it up, this is the place. Moving on... Food is good, nothing out of this world and absolutely not worth the 1 hour wait to get our order (avo toast, farmers platter, kids grilled cheese, and the hatch bowl) and the 25+ min wait for our drinks (2 coffees and 2 juices). FYI food was cold. It's one thing to have a wait to be seated but a whole other issue to wait even more time to eat. I'm not sure what the kitchen situation is but it needs to be assessed ASAP. Service wasn't terrible but clearly a communication issue between the floor and kitchen. Hoping they pull it together. read more

Omg! Best brunch spot around. Aesthetically pleasing, great service and great food.. what more could you ask for. Our server brittany was amazing, super friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous. The ambience was good. I was one of the first patrons in around 9am. Immediately greeted and seated. Restroom is beautiful and decor is nice. Didn't start great as MOST of the signature drinks were unavailable. That left me with either the crème brûlée latte or the dulche de leche latte, which I ordered. It was perfect. Wouldn't have ordered if if they weren't out of chai tea. Food was decent, I prefer le peeps food. I ordered the lox benedict without the lox and instead got bacon. The benedict sauce was covering the entirety of the Benedict which isn't usually the case. That actually hid the fact that was English muffin was burnt on both pieces. Spinach on it is fried I think, crispy like Brussel sprouts. Potatoes were the highlight of the meal. If I went back with my family, I would try something sweet versus savory. Hatch 44 in Metuchen is a cute little brunch spot. Inside, it is aesthetically pleasing great for that perfect instagram shot. The menu has breakfast & lunch, with seasonal selections. We ordered the french toast & fiestas scramble, as well as the churro waffles....... Talk about delicious. Thank god the food, service was worth the wait. I'm only rating this place 4 stars because you cannot make reservations for parties under 6. We were told a 45 minute wait for 2 people & it ended up being over an hour! The rating is for the food. Yes it's pretty and picturesque food but it's okay for me. The decor is lovely too. I've been here twice and it was okay. The food didn't blow me away nor was I content :( Their seasonal drinks are overly sweet yet good. So the last time I ordered the rose beet latte and that was nice and I requested less maple syrup but next time I'll request to put none. The price for the menu items are also pricey. The following isn't based on the star rating: The last time I went was about a week ago in the late morning and requested to be seated outside and the lady said she couldn't do it because they were going to do that tomorrow but, bro what difference does it make? Because of the pandemic, I've been stuck in NJ and have missed brunching in the city! Hatch 44 gives off the NYC brunch vibes with their eclectic seasonal dishes!! I've gone here twice (once for my birthday weekend and once during an off hour weekday)! The weekend gets really packed and I had to wait 30+ minutes but the weekday isn't as packed! If you have some spare time during a weekday -- truly the best time to visit! For both times I've done outdoor seating and if you're seated under the tent, they have a little heating area! A lot of the dishes I munched on were seasonal so they're not currently offering it in their menu but these are the two evergreen dishes still available and highly recommended! This Chic Is Vegan: CHICKPEA OMELETTE. That is all. It may sound weird but it was SO GOOD! It almost tasted like a pancake! Chicken Scoop: Chicken, waffle, & bacon jam! The bacon jam is the highlight of the dish -- elevating it from a simple chicken and waffle sandwich to an incredible dish. I need to find out how to make that caramelized and sweet bacon jam! Matcha! I always order a drink here because the presentation is always so nice but their matcha drinks are so creative! My favorite has to be the matcha berry one -- looking forward to that one coming back into the menu this Summer (fingers crossed)! read more

Tips: - They are BYOB - They only accept reservations for 6+ - Parking lot is small, but there's street parking - Credit card gets a 3.5% surcharge so bring cash I've come here multiple times and so far I have tried: - Harvest Chili without Chicken (10/10) - The Mac Daddy (6/10) loved the Mac and cheese but the bread was soggy. Would've preferred just a larger serving of the Mac and Cheese. - Avo Grilled Toast with Skirt Steak (10/10) - Coffee Cream Toast (6/10) way too sweet. Amazing find! Such a great breakfast and brunch spot. They do not serve any alcohol, I'm not sure if they allow BYOB, but just call ahead and ask--staff is very friendly and great! There is usually a long wait, and finding parking spots in their lot is difficult. But we were able to find street parking fairly easily. I would get there early, and anticipate 45min-1hr wait. Their coffee and tea options are fantastic! We each ordered a different beverage, and loved each one. Specifically we got the matcha latte, rose latte, white winter wonderland, and the fixer upper. For food we ordered the ube stuffed brioche for the table, it was SOOOOO GOOD! Our group specifically loves Ube (taro), and that was something we all wanted to try. I would hands down order that again when I go back. The server told us it was fairly new on their menu and one of their most popular items now. We also got the un chine de Benny, lox Benedict, chickpea omelette (substituted for regular eggs), and the Hatchatarian. And a side of their chorizo cranberry hash. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the portions were generous as well! The flavors were great, the chef balanced the meals out very well. Every single item I've tried from here has been excellent, particularly the steak with eggs and potatoes. The drinks are good also. The servers are all very good and the hosts are gracious. Here's a few things to consider before coming here : Are you trying to have a quiet peaceful brunch? Are you willing to wait an hour to be seated? Hatch44 has moved on to a bigger and newer location. Although i applaud the success, i miss the original location's service and ambiance. We arrived one Thursday afternoon with a group of 5. This place does not take reservations so plan accordingly. The wait was close to an hour, which was already bad enough, but this place doesn't have any waiting area. You're not the only ones waiting, so you end up stuffed near the entrance door with everyone else. What i enjoyed most about the original location was the ambiance. It felt like you were at home. This new location feels like you're at a lounge. Be prepared to listen to the entire bad bunny discography. Although some might enjoy that, we didn't. When you go for brunch with someone, you want to share conversation and good food. Although the food here is great, and so is the coffee, the conversation was close to impossible due to the music. I would say that this place is tailored more towards the teen clientele. Nothing wrong with that - but as someone who frequented the original location it now seems like this place is currently having an identity crisis. read more

I've gone to Hatch a few times and was excited for their new location. They did an amazing job with the interior design and it has hints of every current trend design. Super instagrammable. That's really the appeal of the restaurant. It's really thoughtfully designed with an OK menu that really isn't worth its value. I'm consistently unimpressed by the food and decided it wasn't worth future visits after paying $80 for a non-alcoholic brunch for two. Go for the pictures and coffee. We came in around 1:00pm on a weekday. The first thing that you're hit with is the loudness of the place. We were seated at the coffee bar. You had to shout to ask the server a question because the volume of the chatter was extremely loud. Hatch 44 is hands down one of the best brunch places I've been to in the area. I've been a couple times, both on Sunday mornings. Something to note: this place is small, and can get crowded very quickly. You can wait anywhere from 30 min to 1 hour on a weekend morning, depending on how large your party is. Nevertheless the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The first time I came, I got the open face breakfast burger, which was absolutely delicious - very nicely flavored. The next time I went, I got the Farmer's Platter - very simple, but equally as tasty. This is a farm-to-table restaurant, so everything tasted fresh as advertized. Staff is friendly and helpful, but service can be a little bit on the slower side. At any rate, I highly recommend this place for a weekend brunch, as long as you have some time to spare. read more

After we were seated at the table and ordered two lattes, we were told that there is a 20 minute table limit as we were not ordering food. This was fine by us as we could see that the restaurant was busy. We said that we would be done very quickly and would leave well before that. Now our coffee arrived 17 minutes after placing the order and it arrived not in a ceramic cup but in a to go cup. If we wanted to get it in a to go cup, then we would've gone to another coffee franchise instead. But we were told that this is restaurant policy and that we would have to leave soon. The Man has had a hankering for "Breakfast" food for weeks, now. Me; not so much, but if he doesn't get his way, let the whinging begin. The Yelp-Fairy brought us to 'Hatch 44' this afternoon, and that cleared up all the whinging. We arrived at 12:15pm. The place is cute; corner building, parking in the back but doesn't hold many cars, so be prepared to search for street parking. They're packed; No biggie. I hand over my name and quantity of guests, then hang out for 20-25 minutes. We get called over to our table and have a seat. The place is so cute. Very "farmhouse" themed. My man's coffee is strong enough to grow some hair on your chest. The OJ was delicious (and fresh!). My unsweetened iced tea was weak, but still very good. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. We couldn't wait to try our orders. The man received Lox Benedict w/Seasoned Home Fries rather than the Caprese side. He was in heaven; Said the chorizo had spicy back-heat and he'd order more if he wasn't so full. I ordered Chicken's Scoop w/French Fries -sans- the waffles (I didn't need the extra carbs). It was delicious. The chicken was tasty, bacon jam had plenty of salty-sweet balance going on, and the eggs were perfectly flipped. We ordered one of each of the empanadas to bring home, just to try.
