I stopped by here with a friend on a whim and we had a ton of fun. There are a ton of serious hats as well as fun hats including a hamburger or hot dog hat. I am in need of a new sunhat as the brim on mine is just a bit loo big and it is hard to see. There were a lot of good options and I tried on quite a few hats and liked them but didn't find "The One." The store is pretty small and it is hard to get around if there are more than a handful of people. I also think there should be a few more mirrors and larger mirrors to get a better look at the hat you are looking for. The prices were decent for the hats you are getting and I wouldn't mind spending what was asked for the hats. Overall, I was pretty happy and wen I am ready to get a bit more serious about finding my new hat I will come back with my husband in order to get help in picking out "The One." read more

I got two really cute hats from here: a bright blue beret and a hamburger hat that I just could not resist. I love their large collection, especially the variety of silly hats haha. The price is on the average to low end. I wish we received more customer service because the cashier barely talked to us even when I was checking out. Came in last week on Thursday and I guess i was wearing an invisibility cloak because I was not helped AT ALL. There was a middle aged Hispanic woman working and she was so rude. I received a bunch of nasty side eyes and dirty looks from her. Never expected this kind of treatment from someone in LA JOLLA. I love hats and collecting them but I did not even want to open my wallet bc of her I was so disgusted by her behavior I guess even our elders don't deserve respect some times. Internet Orders: Ordered a hat. Hat was to large so it was exchanged for a smaller size. Everything was great. Now, I received the exchange and found it to be defective. After a phone call and a couple of days later, I received an email with a prepaid return label and was told that a replacement would be immediately sent out upon receipt of the defective hat. I immediately sent it back and and it was received by Hats Unlimited a few days later (thanks to USPS tracking). It's been 2 weeks and I can't get any information from them. I called and left messages to no avail. Now I can' t even get through because the voice mailbox is full. They still have my merchandise and my money. STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

The Scala brand of lady's hats are light weight yet have a wide brim, and they are packable so they don't get crushed in my luggage when I travel. I needed a new hat because I spilled an entire cup of coffee on my old hat. O-; They have practical hats and also silly hats. Want a chicken or a parrot on your head? I think it's hilarious that a hats store has managed to stay open for as long as this one has. Hats Unlimited is right on the corner of Girard and Prospect, so any tourist coming up from the cove will see this place. It's a bit of a tourist attraction itself. They have cowboy hats, fedoras, baseball caps, bowlers, and any other hat you'd wear for fashion... and... every hat you wouldn't. My favorite is the cheese slice hat, or the rainbow propeller hats! It's all a decent price, I suppose. It's in La Jolla, so you're not going to find hats for the thrift store price. I, like most people who come in here, like it just to try on the goofy hats with my friends. Maybe one day when I really need some gag gift I'll come here for that cheesehead hat! read more

This store is amazing. They truly have every hat one could possibly want. If you wanted to be nit picky you could point out that they don't have a Robin Hood hat, or welding helmet, but Jesus, this place has thousands of hats. I tried as many as I could and they were totally cool about it. I lost a package when I was checking out hats, and the store sales person totally went searching for the item at 9pm and found it. Hi all, we are staying in beautiful La Jolla, went out for a great dinner, and stopped at this hat shop. Been to the one in Palm Springs and bought stuff there. Imagine our nice suprise,when we stumbled into this store. Going on a cruise soon so we were going to pick up some hats. We really werent paying attention to the time, but the lights were on, and the door was open. We walked in and were in the store about 5 minutes.i thought it was very odd that in upscale La Jolla that rap music was playing on the speakers. After 5 minutes a younger man shouted to us 'Guy's were closed!' Wow. I looked at my watch. 9:05PM. What customer service. If the young man was to get off his seat come and greet us and say something like we are closing i can ring you up right away, or can youucome back tommorrow at 10:00AM.? We left. I debated writing this review. But i decieded to. The store owner needs to know this milliennial needs some training. Suprise suprise. How about locking the door at closing time, turing off the lights, and for gods sake get the rap music off the stores speakers. Go play that music in your car. This is a cool store, they have hats from cheap to expensive for all occasions. Met store owner nice person with alot of knowledge on hats. I like all the funny hats , they are definitely a draw.
