It was so good. It came with rice and beans, eggs (i got them sunny side up), chorizo, avocado. I loved it, it was flavorful and delicious. The service was great, and the outside was very cute. Being Colombian myself, I tend to be very picky with these types of restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised with my experience! The restaurant itself has a cute outside area with string lights and greenery. To further set the ambiance, you'll hear some traditional music playing from inside the restaurant. As for the food, I was very happy with the flavors- every bite brought me back to Colombia, from the Blackberry Mojito, to the Pescado de Coco (coconut fish), and even the Arepa de Pollo (chicken corn cake). Definite highlights of the meal! On the day we visited, they were only offering chocolate cake for dessert so that was a shame that we were not able to try a more traditional latin american dessert to round out our meal. read more

The menu is a bit limited in my opinion in terms of entrees but I had been eyeing the bandeja paisa so I ordered that. We also ordered Guac for the table. Yelp was doing a deal where when you check in you get a free mojito so I got a strawberry one to drink. Guacamole was amazing! Perfectly seasoned and a good size for the table. Came out relatively fast as well. But the star of the show was the bandeja paisa. This was so. good. Everything came together so perfectly. I'm someone who likes my food touching so it was nice to be able to mix the meats and the beans and the rice all together. I got my steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Garden House is a good alternative to the different restaurant options in Miami Beach. It is not our favorite but we had a good time during our 4th of July stay. It's much smaller than it looks in photos. There is a small outdoor patio and and small indoor area. We opted to sit outside which is a lot cuter. I didn't like that the floors were all wet and it took a long time for service but other than that the food was great. We loved their seafood platter which was only about $30 which came with fish, shrimp, calamari, and fried plantains. It was delicious. When we came on 4th of July night it wasn't busy at all. However I hear it gets pretty busy during the weekends so reservations is recommend since its smaller. We always just park in the nearby parking structure. read more

I am just really getting familiar with Colombian cuisine and this is a great place to try it. This location is cute and easy to find because it's located on Washington Ave near the 7th street garage. Fatima was our host and she made sure we were well taken care of. To start, I got the passion fruit mojito and it was so delicious and potent, which I like. I chose the tostones with chicken app and the tostones was fresh and crispy with a type of shredded chicken salad on top. I was expecting something different with the chicken and while it wasn't terrible, it needed something to bring out the flavor. Some pickled onions on top might give it more life. For the entree, my friend ordered the grilled salmon and she loved it. I got the bandeja paisa that came with egg, different meats, rice and beans, avocado, and maduros. I thought it was delicious but the chicharron was my least favorite because it didn't taste like it was fresh. I was hoping for the fatty part to be melt in your mouth and it fell short from that. Because there is always room for dessert, we got the coconut cake which was very light and sweet but not too much coconut flakes or flavor which I was looking forward to. The location is in Miami Beach right on Washington Ave. They have outside seating, which is the cutest thing. They have a great spot for picture taking and the stream of light. I didn't go inside expect to use the bathroom and there is only one unisex bathroom. We all had the bandeja paisa besides my husband with margaritas and we loved it. Arrived not too long in Miami and decided to give this a shot as our first dining experience. Surprisingly, it was delicious! It's a great starter introduction to latin cuisine. The steak with chimichurri sauce was great but i think the tacos stole the spotlight. The meat was tender and juicy, accompanied by the special sauce on the side.The service was lacking...two waitresses, barely any customers and we always had to get their attention for water refills (and they still didn't refill it) I don't think a language barrier can make you lose your attentiveness, especially if you're a server. They were incredibly slow and that really affected our first impression of dining in Miami. I hope this review brings attention to those two waitresses that really need to catch up to the restaurant's speed and quality. Garden House delivered on both flavor and experience. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, and every corner of the restaurant was adorable. During our visit we tried the piña colada and the pineapple mojito, both of which were very tasty. The drinks weren't too sweet or too strong, and overall had such good flavor. Mojitos are my favorite cocktail, so I loved that they had 6 different variations! For our food, we started with the fried shrimp appetizer. These were plump and juicy, and coated in a very light breading that made them extra crispy. We got even more seafood for our entrees, ordering the fettuccini di mares and seafood stew. Both dishes were packed with seafood and super hearty! The pasta in the fettuccini was the perfect texture, and I appreciated that the light garlic sauce allowed the seafood to shine. It had just the smallest hint of cilantro, which was really refreshing. The seafood stew was also phenomenal, made with a coconut broth that was just the right balance of savory and sweet. I'm not usually a big fan of tostones, but I devoured the ones that came with this dish. They were so crisp and paired perfectly with the broth. Even though we were pretty full, we couldn't leave without a slice of coconut cake to finish things off. I am SO glad we ordered this because it was fantastic. The cake was soft and light, with great coconut flavor and served with a slightly sour, fruity sauce that really helped balance things out. I think if I had any critiques, it would be that serving the seafood in the shells, while it makes for a beautiful presentation, made things a bit messy to eat. I also think I could've done without the crawfish in both entrees, the flavor wasn't my favorite and they were a lot of work for very little meat payoff. Such a pretty restaurant for a date. Make sure to ask for outdoor seating. As far as the food we started with the fried shrimp. They were very tasty but wish they put more cause they were quite addictive. For the main course, I got the Rib Eye medium rare but unfortunately I had to send it back the 1st time cause it way overcooked. It came well done. The 2nd time is was better. Still a little too done like medium but I was hungry so I just ate it. The Captain Red Snapper was our absolutely favorite. Whole fried fish topped with shrimp and coconut sauce. It was a flavor explosion. Also the margaritas were amazing. Served in a big glass and not too sweet. For dessert we didn't really want the Tiramisu but the server said that's all they have left which was surprising considering it was only 8 in the evening. Nevertheless we ate it and it was good. For the sauce it was a creamy, fresh, acidic vinegrette and it paired well with fresh greens on the side. Entrees: so many to choose from including seafood, fried snapper, churrasco, ribeye, chicken, pasta. We decided to order the seafood stew and the ribeye. I just have to say that seafood stew broth, was the most delicious creamy almost soup like broth we've ever tasted. I started just eating that creamy, flavorful sea food broth. For the seafood stew it comes with rice and tostones and all taste so delicious dipped in that stew. The rib eye was cooked as requested, came with a side of golden potatoes and fresh greens. The ribeye was well seasoned, and even dipped it in thay sea food stew sometimes. Dessert: options including but not limited to, tres leches, Tira misu, chocolate cake, coconut cake and ice cream. The chocolate cake was very well presented and drizzled with fresh chocolate table side. Also comes with a side of ice cream we ate it all. Cocktails include mojitos and margaritas. We tried the blackberry mojito. Which I was beyond impressed, they actually crushed fresh black berry's. So this tasted like a refreshing fruity drink, not to strong , but refreshing. For starters, we ordered the tostones with beef,which was delicious.Full of flavors and the meat was well cooked. Hands down, the best appetizer I've had in a while! A few weeks ago while parking, we noticed this newish restaurant in a location formerly housing a Vietnamese place. Last night, we thought we'd give it a try. To start with, the waitresses, give a very warm welcome. We chose to sit outside, as did everyone else when we dined. Interestingly, this was a Monday night. By the time we left, the place was full. We followed out waitress, Paola's, recommendations for the entire meal, starting with cocktails - I had the sangria (just right, with lots of fruits), my husband had the passion fruit mojito (loaded with mint). We shared the Caribbean Calamari appetizer; nice a crispy, the garlic aioli had a nice kick to it. Paola recommended the seafood stew to me. It was thick with little clams, mussels, shrimp, fish bits, and crayfish. The sauce was just delicious, perfect for dipping the accompanying tostados in. She strongly recommended the Pescado de Coco a la Samana, a grilled fish filet drenched in a sauce rich with coconut milk, to my husband. We both really enjoyed these choices. We rarely eat dessert, but on Paola's recommendation we tried the special coconut cake, not on the menu. After a kind a rich meal, the cake was light and not overly coconutty. This is a cozy little restaurant with a lot of charm. When you first walk in it doesn't look like much, but the food and drinks are great! We ordered the strawberry and blackberry Mojitos, both were really good! We ordered the garden house guacamole as an appetizer. Then we ordered the lomo saltado and bandeja paisa for our mains. If you like spicy I recommend asking for them to bring you a side of the jalapeño salsa it was SO good. To finish, we ordered the coconut cake, this was the only item we thought was okay. I love how attentive but laid back the workers are here. They are never too far when you need something. The place is so cute with decor and the way it's set up. I will say, the lack of star is due to the moldy smell that smacked me when I walked in and even more towards the bathroom area. I'm not sure if it was due to a storm or just faulty structure. However, that does not take away from the deliciousness that comes out of the kitchen. In addition the the smell, that lack of star represents the over cooked salmon I received. Usually I would deduct another star, but I'm feeling generous because I'd order it again. I mean, it wasn't terrible just over cooked. I'd like to have this dish when it's made correctly. The shrimp appetizer was the bomb!! Seasoned well, fried crispy, and the dipping sauce was amazing. The tostones were made just right and with the sauce from the shrimp they were the bomb. The food came out rather quickly and their water was cold which was nice. We got the calamari which was yummy with the sauce. The fettuccine alfredo with added chicken was fine. It came with 2 hard pieces of bread on it that weren't very edible but the pasta itself was good but not immaculate. Today, my friends and I visited Garden House Latin Restaurant for lunch, and unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience. Despite the high reviews, we were confused because the place didn't live up to the hype. The decor didn't match what people claimed, and the overall atmosphere was lacking. It was easily the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. (I can think of one more terrible experience at a different restaurant that could rival this one, but that other one didn't cost me any money...so this one takes the cake! The restaurant wasn't crowded, but the service was slow. The real disappointment came with the food. I ordered a dish that consisted of frozen French fries mixed with a small amount of sauce, mini slices of steak, and peppers. It tasted terrible, and I couldn't continue eating it. In fact, one of my friends even got sick after eating her meal. The waitstaff noticed I didn't touch my plate, and they offered to pack it to go, but I declined. Another friend ordered rice and beans, which she found to be decent, but she couldn't trust the place enough to eat the fried shrimp appetizer she ordered after a couple bites. To make matters worse, we were surprised by an automatic 18% gratuity added to our check. This was unexpected because the service was far from satisfactory. We left the restaurant without having a proper meal and spent $140 on this overpriced, unfortunate experience. From the looks of things, the prices have gone up in the last few months since some of the older reviews were posted with pictures of the menu. Looks like the menu has also changed. The nastiness we purchased doesn't seem to be included on the older menu. It was there today, though. There are lots of little sidewalk cafes to choose from in South Beach, so I am happy I found Garden House on a recent visit. I was on a elimination diet and felt like the Fish in Coconut Sauce would be a good option. It was DELICIOUS along with the side of fresh veggies and fried green plantains.
