Found it on Yelp. I find Cuban food as much as I can when I travel and this place just went to the top off list. Small place holding only about 30. Nice Latin music in the background. We had Pork Chunks with their own sauce..a five star meal. Cuban and Bean soup was superior. Owner gave us a read out on how they make the sauce for the pork. That explained why I had never had anything like it. Constant stream of customers at 2 in the afternoon. Staff seemed to know everyone by name which tells me a lot about how they approach the business. It is not fancy and the edges are worn. If I die and go to heaven I want 5 plates of the picadillo to meet me there. I had surgery 5 weeks ago and since I have been struggling with finding anything flavorful that I enjoy eating. Well I KNOW I just found it. The picadillo was soooo full of flavor. The raising, onion, olives-- EVERYTHING! It's the first thing I've kept down in a long time or didn't chew the flavor out of. After only a few bites I was full but I look forward for tomorrow's lunch. Now as for the service it was amazing too! The owner greeted me. Made me feel like family and the service was really quick. The family didn't get any fries or chips, or anything with their sandwiches. The low point was 2 dead roaches on the floor near the bathroom. I have to give a fair warning: service was pretty bad. Fist evening the lady serving us was kinda rude, didn't bring any bread (even though other tables had bread baskets), forgot to bring extra silverware for my son and it took forever to get our food... which we definitely weren't happy about after a long day at LegoLand! HOWEVER the food was awesome! So good that my six year old son didn't want to hear anything about trying something different the next day! Well, next day - same story. A different server messed up looks like everyone's order including ours and it took even longer to get our food. I had to ask for some bread (not sure why they wouldn't give us bread when all other tables had it!) as my son was getting hungry and bored... well, the food finally arrived and it again was delicious!!! Some older guy (I assume The owner) came out once and spoke with each customer including ourselves. My son told him how much he liked the food especially the flan so they ended up giving us flan on the house- which was really nice! Been wanting a good meaty Cuban Sandwich for awhile now. This is hands down the best, most authentic (Tampa Florida) Cuban you can get ahold of here in Polk county. I usually pair this sandwich with a Beef Empanada and some "Mojo" sauce. The combo is usually at least two days of meals or eats. Awesome friendly service with a smile. We ordered the steak with yellow rice and beans which was very disappointing the portion size was very small approximately 4oz steak was rubbery the side of yellow rice was white rice and the shrimp scampi was $12.00 for 6 medium shrimp seriously. Plus I ordered the chicken but I guess the lady didn't hear me so I never receive it and that was for my two small children to eat. My husband love Havana'. We are big fans of their cubed pork dish. Being from California we never really had Cuban food before as there are not many Cubans there. So we visited. A few Cuban restaurants since moving here two years ago and this is one of our favorites. Just about everything we have eaten here has been awesome but the cubed pork is by far our favorite. It has a crispy outside with a juicy, tender inside that makes my mouth water just thinking about it! The owner says she cooks it for hours. The place is small and decorated with knock knacks here and there and the owners come out and talk to you like you are family or a close friend. Their motto is come as a stranger and leave as a friend. I can't think of any thing too negative except maybe the black beans are a little salty for me but I don't know too much about Cuban food maybe that is how it is supposed to be. And maybe that once I ordered something other than our usual pork plate but she brought me the pork plate. My husband said to return it but I was hungry and since I love the stuff I just ate it. But if it was someone else I could see where they would be upset. Other than that they are great! read more

Ok, with me being Cuban. You know, I would have to comment on a cuban restaurant after I try it. Once again, I got a coupon from Restaurant.com and was in this part of the state and dropped in. Place was quiet and empty. The woman that greeted me was wonderful and very sweet. Kind of reminded me of one of my aunts. They were out of the few things we wanted to try as appetisers. So, we settled on fried sweet plantains and empanadas. Both were perfect. We ordered the Pork chunks and the Ropa Vieja. Both were very good. The pork was a little dry but not a problem. What knocked me out was the Black beans. They were perfect. Kind of the ones my mother used to cook when I was younger. We ended with the flan which was very very good. We love this restaurant. The food is homemade and delicious. It really does taste authentic. I take my father here whenever I come down to Bartow to visit him. He loves it because he has a chance to practice his Spanish and also because the portions are so big that he gets to take home leftovers for lunch the next day.
