What a nice surprise! My coworkers had a couple of boxes at lunch and told me about this place. I headed there for lunch myself. Found parking on the street with no problem on a Sunday at 2:00 PM. Staff and who I believe was the owner were great the second I came through the door. I ordered the 3 chicken tenders and fries. I was going to go Haven on the heat level of the sauce and the lady behind the counter told me I might want to go down to hot since it was my first time there. I might even go medium next time. The chicken was breaded and cooked to perfection. The hand-cut fries were equally as good. It's easy to miss with the small sign outside. I came back here today because I wanted fries which I noted in my last review are amazing and imo the best in NHV, but wanting to confirm my earlier suspicions about the vegetarian offerings, decided to ask if their not chicken nuggets, which are made with cauliflower, were vegan. My exchange literally went like this: "Question, do your not chicken nuggets have egg in them?" "No." "So they are vegan then?" "Yes." I had every right to be suspicious as in the next exchange the cashier is offering me...not vegan dipping sauces, but I hadn't eaten all day and was hungry (I didn't get a sauce). The real kicker is that I was told one thing in store, then saw after I left that their official IG (run by the co-owner) had a Q&A session and so I asked *THEM* if the not chicken nuggets were vegan and they said no, because -wait for it- THEY CONTAIN EGG. I found out the hard way, but had I seen that sooner I would have given the food away. I did reach out to them tonight and they were *extremely* apologetic and worked with me to rectify it, which is why they are keeping their initial star rating. My stomach still really hurts because my body hates eggs but I appreciate them telling me they will retrain the staff. It's so important for restaurants and food service vendors to do better for people who have allergies or who don't eat certain foods. New Haven's chicken game has really stepped up in the past few years, and Haven Hot Chicken is definitely gunning for the crown. I've had the tenders and fries a couple of times now, and consistently been extremely pleased with the food. My family spans a few different spice levels so we order a variety and everyone gets what they want. The chicken is incredible crispy, not at all greasy, and perfectly cooked. The fries are fantastic and they give SO MANY in a meal that we can get just one meal and a few extra orders of tenders and that's enough for 3 people to share. The only sauce I've tried is the ranch but even that was really good, either homemade or at least some high quality brand.
