3/5 for the location 4/5 for the service/beer selection Visited this place since a couple of our friends wanted to go to a free Reggae concert. Why not? Location: When you walk in, it's pretty dark, but to your left are billards, darts, and some TVs. The prices to rent out equipment is reasonable. Slightly outdated, and most of the equipment is kind of dirty/oily, but what can you expect from a night bar? It didn't bother me that much. Bathrooms are in the far, far back, slightly eerie walking by myself there. There is a bouncer in the front once it hits a certain time where they give you a wristband if you're 21+. The concert room was pretty big, open space and easy access to the bar to order. Can't complain. Parking: The parking truly is terrible. Its laid out as 2 parking spots per pillar, but the parking spots are so narrow that people tend to park over the line of the second parking spot. It's gotten so bad that 24 Hour Fitness next door had to put a sign up asking customers to stop parking in both parking spots. I would too though, seeing as how tiny those spots are and how nice everyone's cars are there! Service/Drinks: Drink selection was good. Servers were nice. When I asked for a recommendation, the server offered a suggestion that was pretty good for an IPA. I don't usually like IPAs, but it was on the lighter side. I was able to sit down and watch highlights for the basketball games, super chill. Overall, would come here again with my group of friends. Love the activities, beer selection, and music they play. Fun to get out and enjoy some laughs. Not a typical comedy club as it's a shared space with a pool hall. A bit hard to find if your not local. Good value for the money and the tickets are reasonable, local talent was funny. Employees courteous and helpful. Eat before going lol! Drinks poured generously... can you say Uber? read more

Came here with a friend to shoot some pool. We only ended up getting two drinks and leaving after a single game of pool. The reason we left: when my friend went to the restroom, a man followed her in and accused her of smoking in the bathroom. He proceeded to bang on the stall until she came out and accused her of smoking and/or vaping. She doesn't vape and genuinely felt VERY uncomfortable after that encounter so we left. The bartender was a sweetheart and made great drinks but the guy was kind of out of line walking into the bathroom and continuously knocking on the stall accusing her. read more

Absolutely love Hawaiian Brians, whether is be for hanging out at the pool tables, going to the speakeasy, or attending a concert. I appreciate all of the different spaces and ambiences they have to hang in. It's a great central location to go to and the crowd don't get too large or out of hand if you're going to a concert. read more

Been coming to Brian's for well over 10 years. Good drinks, good pool, meh service. My friends and I went to go grab a pool table, and I couldn't hold in my bladder so I went to the bathroom while the homies went to grab their pool balls. After I was done in the bathroom I met with my boyfriend halfway as he went to the restrooms too, told me "we're set up in table 18!" Aight, sweet. I walked into the pool hall and one of the bartenders startled me by yelling "EXCUSE ME!" Dunno her name, just a super thin white girl with a long-ish face and dark hair. I walked over to her and she already looked pissed. She said "Can I help you?" to my response was "No? I'm heading to table 18 with my friends" It felt like she was accusing me for sneaking in as an extra person for a table. I confirmed that it was four people total, with me included. She insisted that it was "four people, plus you." And I was like, "No, four with me included." She went on to ask why I wasn't there when they went to get the pool balls and not feeling the good vibe from her and fed up with the accusation I literally just said, "I had to pee. There were four of us in line and I went to the toilet." She then proceeded to look away and continue with her business like I just insulted her. I stood there and I went, "Are we good?" No response, so I left to my friends. Like dude, I understand that there's some sketch people that pull that crap but this is not it chief. Definitely could have been handled it better. Went to this place to see EDM dj Ferry Corsten perform. Was pleasantly surprised at the size of this venue and liked the way they had a bar in an adjoining room if you wanted to take a break from the music for a quick drink. Sound quality was great, staff working the event were friendly no complaints would definitely return for another show that interests me. read more

The two white girls running the bar were horrible, they had NO customer service and kept up charging us for the drinks. This place seems to be well past it's prime, but if you want to shoot pool, its still one of the better locations. Prices are fair, the food is lousy, drinks are OK. They are doing a ton of renovations currently, and I hope that brings it back to what the place used to be, but for the time being, I avoid it unless I have a reason to be there (unlike before where it was a default hangout) read more

Just don't come... Females especially, please watch yourself here. I just moved to the island 2 months ago and this was my first time at HB. Last night I was the designated driver for myself, and about 10 of my friends that I gathered to go party and rave with Arty at Hawaiian Brian's. Walking in, they searched my bags, saw my vape and let me through. About half way through the night, and passing my vape along to many friends, countless times, the man in the photo singled me out, came up to me and said "you can't vape in here, you need to leave right now". I took accountability, told him he could throw it away, explained I was unaware of the rules and they continued to meet this man with the utmost respect. My concern is when his account of our interactions started changing. It went from speaking to me once, to speaking to me twice, and then claiming he spoke to me 4 times. Ten people witnessed and were attesting that they have never seen him come speak to me until he kicked me out. When I asked this bouncer to look me in the eye and tell me that he spoke to me 4 times that evening, he refused to turn his head in my direction. We attempted to speak to other staff members, but they said they couldn't "step on their security guards toes". I removed myself respectfully, and my friends came outside, to smoke, and check in on me throughout the night. Two of my girlfriends were then kicked out and prohibited to enter again because of association as he sat there by the door to watch me. My only assumption as to why he started monitoring me is to continue to kick out my friends. While I'm thankful for every human I got to meet, sit with and speak to all night outside the venue, I warn any human, especially females, of the bouncers at this club who are so freely lying about those who are using their venue. This situation was only about a vape, but the caring human in me is starting to believe staff at this club would lie for their own benefit. Keep yourself safe and just rave at Republic or the country club. You will find me there, in my kitty ears, dancing my booty off. Hawaiian Brian's just lost myself and 10 friends and our patronage. He gave his reasoning by saying that we needed to have Hawaiian state issued IDs in order to get into the bar or carry around our passport. Staff rude was extremely rude, specifically the poke vendor, doorwoman at one of the rooms inside the social club, and the security that was screaming at people to leave and not be in certain areas that had ZERO indication whether people were allowed to be there. COMPLETELY opposite behavior of what I've experienced with most people on Hawaii. And the venue is super small and shares building space with a billiards room randomly? To start off if 0 stars was an option, without a doubt I would've selected that instead of 1 star. I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this pool hall. The bartender was shockingly rude, treating my friends and me with complete disrespect. It's a shame that such a negative encounter overshadowed any potential enjoyment we might have had. Aloha, love, love, love the Crossroads venue for live concerts. Intimate, lots of seating, can bring in food from HBs. Good beers with 2 drink stations & great to hang with like-type friends. Leaving from parking can take a while after, so if you find street or uber, moa betta. And if you're still high from the concert, can shoot pool after, nice (may as well if you parked in lot, it'll be 1/2 hour out). Enjoy! read more

I went here quite often before the pandemic and during Hawaii's Tier 3 I went with friends who were 21 and I was 20. I got my ID checked and was allowed through but when seated the bartender at the time asked what we wanted to order and I just said a water is fine and was not asking to drink alcohol. She asked if I was 21 and I said no and she said I cant be in the area because I am not 21 because there was an event but the place was literally not even busy and the event didnt have a lot of people. Their info online may say open to all but didnt seem so that night. Very disappointed because I just wanted to play pool with friends as we did before the pandemic. read more

Well, what can I say... Worst customer service I've ever gotten at the bar in Hawaii!!! Reading all of these negative comments make me feel like it's honestly for a no reason. The owner does not seem to care? So here is mine, even though most likely it probably won't change anything. Since the customer service is still horrible, management even worse... in times like this you would think they should be happy they are open, and the employees have their jobs and people do come and spend their money there, even though they could've spent it somewhere else where they would be feeling welcomed and appreciated that they picked their place over bunch of others. Anyway, the rating is only for the pool- billiard section (haven't been at the other rooms). I've come to this place 2 times after everything opened up. First time the server was giving attitude for a no reason, and overall I felt I wasn't welcomed. Second time I decided to give it another try, and guess I shouldn't have, it was even worse than the first visit. The two girls who worked there, both had bad "don't give a thang" attitude not like other bars. To those two girls: FYI your tips DO depend on the service you provide, which in my case that happened more than once which was "terrific" if you know what I mean.... Will Not go Back there!!! Really enjoyed my time at Hawaiian Brian's last week. Got to see both Milo Yiannopoulos and Ricky Rebel perform. What a show! Definitely worth every dime. Some anti-free speech groups sought to censor these voices, but Hawaiian Brian's stood firmly beside our great constitution and let the show go on. read more

I used to come here often, but coming here recently - this place went way downhill... Coming into the place, there was a long line of 18-19 year olds waiting to go in, smoking right in front of the entrance. There was also a concert going on, on top of the Friday night crowd. It was definitely poppin'. Good thing we were able to find a parking stall on the same level! We wanted to play darts and maybe some pool, the pool hall was super crowded so we decided to play darts first. We walked in and ordered a drink from the bar, got our drinks and sat near the dart boards. There were a couple of dart boards not working, so we decided to wait for one to open. We did & ended up playing 4 long games of darts, while going back to the bar for a refill. The bartenders seemed a bit frustrated with the fact that their machine was out of order so they needed to do everything manually, understandable. We waited patiently right up front but was not getting any help until finally we called out to one. Got our drinks and went back to playing darts. We got hungry and decided to order the normal chicken and rice with French fries. Only to find out that there was none there was a new menu with a ton of different food options. A lot of their stuff was sold out, after long decision making, we finally ordered the nachos which was soggy. Didn't finish it. The bathrooms were also filthy! I didn't end up going, there were 3 clogged toilets and a wet floor with TP all over it. 20 minutes prior to the place closing, the male Hispanic security guard comes rushing in near the dart boards telling everyone to leave. We had one more round to go and asked him if we can finish the round, he was so rude and kept saying "no get out of here". What a jerk!! I got his name at the end, but I'd rather not put him on blast. In my opinion, I would not return here again. It's a lot worse then it was a year ago which is super sad. read more

I was here for a concert at Crossroads. I like this music venue. The whole place is very chill, laid back, and relaxed. While I was there, I interacted with three staff and the owner and everyone was respectful to me and very helpful. I would definitely go back for another concert. I am a regular here and the servers are usually nice, I got kicked out for asking why I got over charged for pool. I paid for darts and they didn't let me finish our game for some reason? I was very calm and just questioned why I was charged so much. Never coming back here again that's for sure. I do not recommend visiting this pool bar. Terrible service! read more

Hawaiian Brian's Again- am I a fair reviewer? I think so, I use Yelp as my own personal blog and some people enjoy reading it as well- I hope to use it as a memory device for me much later. So that being said, it may be a slight bit unfair of me to say - but I have had sooo much more higher hopes for how HI Brian's would do things. 1997, a few of us lived near Queens Hospital. We'd want to do thing together at night, sometimes dancing and sometimes just hanging playing pool. So we found Hawaiian Brian's to just play- I forget if smoking had been banned or not by then inside but it smelled like a dirty pool hall. It was way worse than any pool hall that any of us had played at when we were younger. Fast-forward to 2015, it has been remolded but still not up to par for what I would expect to see in 2015 as keeping up with the Jones'. Yes, you can play pool but it is not as clean feeling as say a new modern pool hall. There are these unique chairs tucked here and there that are like theater seats that could be thought of as nostalgic. Jon Taffer may agree that women feel safe when the bathroom is safe/ clean. I have heard more than a few negative comments about the womens room- I only use the mens room and it is on par for a bar. Things work and I can find soap- enough said on my end. Here is a double complaint. There is a small food section- loco moco, fries, fish, chicken nugget stuff and other fried to order items.... First off- it appears to be never open. I know it is open sometimes as I have tried it, but others have complained rightly so that it is usually closed. When it is open- the food is worse than bar food- it tastes worse than someone going to safeway and getting cheap van de kamps fish sticks, Tyson chicken nuggets and Oradea potatoes fries and sticking them in a fryer and serving them as 'bar food.' No that isn't bar food - that is basically what I would feed a screaming 2 year old if they were visiting my house and put ketchup on the side in case it hates having it already on the food. Yes- I ate the different orders I got but - no - I did not go away happy. Would you complain after ordering it? Plus side- they do have some great local bands playing- all of the info is up and updated on their website. It really is clear if you read the full details about the ticket price, what location it will be in (like crossroads, listening room or studio) and times. Staff is pretty cool- they check ids and give you a heads up if they see you parking incorrectly and ask you to move again if needed. read more
