Hawaiian Bros does a small number of dishes great instead of a lot of dishes so so. Better than that other Hawaiian plate joint...Mo Bettah's. Try the Dole Whip soft serve...it's the perfect ending to a great meal. We recently tried the new Hawaiian Bros in Independence and asked for delivery. The food was absolutely delicious, the Teriyaki on the chicken is the perfect sauce. Hulu Hulu chicken is my favorite; the regular portion is more than enough for two meals. We also tried the wildly popular Spam appetizer. They sell out if you don't order early. Of course at Hawaiian Bros, the Dole whip desserts are a favorite. We tried the pineapple. Incredibly refreshing; a great end to a fantastic meal. This location is beautiful, offering dine in, curbside, and delivery. I heartily recommend this restaurant. I ordered and picked up the luau pig and had vegetables instead of rice and a slice of pineapple instead of the macaroni salad to make it lower in carbs. It was juicy and delicious but I had to give it 4 stars because it was SOOOO salty. I mean, it was like someone salted it and then someone else came along and salted it again. The food was fine... I asked for the chicken to come with a side of veggies instead of the rice which they did (thank you!), and which were of good quality (not over steamed). I was not a fan of the side of teriyaki sauce- it's too sweet, and tasted a bit chemical to me. The staff that takes orders is really friendly- the guy at the payment window wasn't friendly or rude. He handed me a water (which I had not ordered) with a plastic straw, which I handed back to him. I would recommend that a Hawaiian place would be more mindful of sea life and offer paper straws instead. I also would prefer if they asked first if I wanted a utensil (I don't- I have my own reusable stuff in the car) to not only save them money but help keep things green. They do have compostable food containers which is a plus, as well as unbleached recycled paper napkins. This place has potential though.
