After getting in line buffet style we were told one of the items on the menu (baked chicken) was unavailable but would be ready in 10 minutes, after which we were told another 10 or so minutes so we stepped out of line to wait only to find fried chicken covered in gravy was what was delivered. At the end of the line we ordered peach cobbler and again another significant delay after we'd been seated. The coups de gras was finding almost everything was over salted to where I couldn't eat most of it. So I can't recommend Peachtree Cafe'teria unless you enjoy a hit or miss selection (which changes daily) and love salt. read more

I came here because I love the macaroni so much at the Eastwood location. They didn't have any macaroni at this location today so I tried new items. WOW!! I was blown away by how delicious the neck bones, corn, and cabbage were. They were all so well seasoned and the corn is probably the butteriest most savory corn I've had in years, seriously. The neck bones had a lot of good fatty meat and not too many small bony pieces. The cabbage was delicious. The meatloaf was also super juicy. I visited Peachtree Cafeteria for my birthday today and was hoping for some turkey and dressing along with some pear cobbler, but unfortunately they were out of both except the cornbread dressing. I ended up with the baked chicken and smoothered pork chop, Mac and cheese, yams, dressing and peach cobbler. Everything had a wonderful flavor, but the Mac and cheese and dressing was severely overly salted. The air conditioning in the place was not working and the folks working there were so very kind and helpful even though they were miserably hot. Chicken shrimp gumbo (choice 1) was served in a 3 oz styrofoam cup on rice. Fried chicken thigh (choice 2, other choices not ready)!was cold and tiny. Greens, mashed and gravy were good, but also cool. Everything was salty. Sweet potato cornbread was dense and (wait for it) cold. Dine in orders served in styrofoam, no butter for bread. It seems that Peachtree Buffet has become Peachtree Cafeteria. It is probably a better fit as it keeps the food fresher but I do miss the buffet. I love Peachtree. They are one of the few places in town to get a solid meal of Southern comfort food. The fried chicken is so perfectly made. A little greasy but the flavor is just so perfect. The fried catfish always has exceptional flavor and is nicely dusted with cornmeal that has a fantastic crunch. And I love the sides. The green beans have a unique spice to them and lovely chunks of red potato. The Mac 'n cheese tastes like something k would expect my grandma to make but she could never do this so well. Such a nice blanket of real melted cheddar cheese and you can taste the oven-baked goodness of a quality cheese blend. The mashed potatoes and gravy are flawless. And I'm obsessed with Peachtree's corn muffins. Overall, if you want comfort food, this is a great option for it. read more

This is usually my 'go-to' spot if I didn't cook Sunday dinner. It's been a staple in the area for years as 'the- place-to-go' for great down-home cooking. It still has my heart, but a recent visit left me & my husband lacking. But the food here with really really good. My work paid but the prices I saw listed weren't outrageous especially for such good food. Food was ok the fried chicken if your get it hot is amazing... I think they use a lot of sugar most items are sweet the greens, sweet potato, dressing all very sweet. I think meals are priced well normally don't really understand why Sunday prices are increased vs weekly price when the serving size doesn't change. On Sunday you will be waiting so be patient. One thing be careful and check prices on desserts I purchased a banana pudding at $10 which is extremely insane it was called on my receipt a custom item. A really good place to go for soul food. I also like that they have the old-school cafeteria style. You pick your meat, sides, bread and drink and they put it all on the plate for you. I have been going to Peachtree for years and wanted to finally leave them some love. I grew up in the Deep South and so around KC it's kind of hard to find food prepared in that way unless you're at grandmas house and also definitely hard to find a good cup of sweet tea. I love going here to get a quick bite to take to go that I know will satisfy my hunger and my emotional well-being (aka proper soul food). Please give this place a try! There's a premium if you go on Sundays. Prices for some of the items are $3-4 higher. Yet we chose the #2 which includes 3 meats. $18. The chops and all the gravies were so bland.
