This is a really cool spot. We stopped here on an annual pub crawl and it happened to coincide with the River Rally Benefit Run featuring Jesse James Dupree of Jackyl. Since we were there, I got a pic with him even though he wasn't very friendly. They were offering helicopter rides and wish I could have gone! Lots of space and really cool views right on the river. Cheap drinks/ice cold beer and I really mean ice cold which is oddly difficult to come by. We didn't have the BBQ but it smelled fantastic.

Some of the best BBQ I've had period. Ribs were meaty and cooked to perfection. Sauce was good, but absolutely no sauce was needed for these. Service was great. We will DEFINITELY be back.

New menu & new ownership. It wasn't evident that there was a new menu when we went for lunch. Food wasn't anything special even though their known for the pulled pork it was run of the mill to me. 10 minute walk from other bars in Grafton, but a nice easy walk. Server was nice and polite.

Free WiFi. This place is a biker bar. It sits right on the Mississippi River. Great views of the river if you sit in the back. There is plenty of outside seating in the front and back. No air conditioning. Lots of fans running. The waitresses will take your drink order then you have to go to the counter to order your food. No French fries! This was my fiancé's biggest complaint. If you order water you will get a bottle of water which I thought was nice. No credit cards accepted but they do have an atm machine inside. Lots of parking. My fiancé ordered the pulled pork and a hamburger. He loved his. I ordered ribs and I didn't care for mine. The ribs come in a cup?!?

Well no fries and no salad on the menu. Just meat. Place is for sale so looks like cutting food to try to maximize profit margin. Again no fries. So we had beef kabob. Was ok but had to pick off the purple plastic wrapper that was grilled on it and we treated ourselves to a 1/6 inch pork steak for 8 bucks. Again no fries. But being serious. Pork steak was maybe 1/6 of an inch. I get it. Your for sale. It showed today.

The food is very good....had the Pork Steak and the wife had the Pulled Pork Sandwich.....both were very good. The service was fast and friendly. Very eclectic people here....great atmosphere!!!!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Grafton or just cruising the Great River Road!!!

They have a huge dock which is nice for those with boats (I recommend reserving a space of any holiday weekends/summer weekends to make sure you have a space as it can get packed). Downstairs there's seating, showers, bathrooms, and a pool. Upstairs there's both an outdoor & indoor bar as well as outdoor patio and indoor seating. When it gets busy be prepared to wait for a spot as most people linger & drink. I love that there's the outdoor bar so you can at least grab a drink while you wait. The food & drinks are responsibly priced. Service can vary as sometimes we have a waiter that's on it and super fast & efficient and other times we aren't checked on and have gone to the bar for more drinks since we couldn't find out waiter. For food I definitely recommend the shrimp poboy! Overall a great place to go for some good food & drinks at a decent price. Will continue coming back every season.

It was so disappointing, that I didn't even eat it all. I threw half of it away and I rarely waste food. My Two Plate was a Pork Steak and Brisket, with Smokehouse Beans and Spicy Cheese Corn. The Pork Steak was good, but the Brisket was dried and tough. The Smokehouse Beans have disappointed me before, but I wanted to give them another chance. Again, they were to runny and had not enough seasoning to give them pizzaz. Their Spicy Cheese Corn was just okay, it was cheesy, but did no live up to the "Spicy" name. What was most disappointing was the customer service. The young lady taking my order was friendly and professional, so she gets a thumbs up. The disappointment came when I was presented my order at the counter. As I waited for my for to be prepared I took a stool at the counter, just down from the register. When it was ready, the owner brought it out and dropped the bag in front of me and turned to walk away. No thank-you, no nothing. I had to speak first, to get response and it was just faint grunt. It is a sad day when a business owner cannot thank a customer for supporting his business.

This…read moreplace was suggested by a local, and I am so glad that I went because it was the best BBQ that I have ever had. I wasn't sure what to order, but the friendly staff recommended that I have the brisket, and I'm so glad I heeded their advice. The brisket sandwich was the most tender meat that I have ever had. I had never had brisket before having that sandwich, now my mouth waters any time I talk about this restaurant! The cole slaw that I had as a side provided the perfect crunch and balance. My mate had the pulled pork sandwich, which was also very tender. I also loved having a variety of barbecue sauces on the table and was able to try each one. Everyone has a preference, I'm sure, but after trying each one, I am completely sold on the Carolina gold. Also, I do not typically have a fountain soda, but the cola that was on tap was some of the best that I'd ever tasted. 10 out of 10 for Sugarfire, and I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in St. Louis!

The giant pig statue in front of the restaurant was actually quite informative, as it described where the meat comes from on a pig. Anyway, as I entered the restaurant, I stood in line. It was quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. There are long tables with many seats, so seating wasn't an issue. It is a first come first served dining situation. I ordered the 2-meat plate: brisket, ribs, baked beans, and potato salad. The brisket and the sides were definitely my favorite parts. The brisket was so tender, it basically fell apart in my hands! It was delicious! The baked beans were tangy and sweet, and the potato salad was creamy. I didn't like the ribs, they were very dry and definitely not worth the money. The barbecue sauces are in bottles on the table; my personal favorite was the Honey Badger, sweet with a little bit of heat. I found the Coffee BBQ sauce to be the most interesting; I have never had anything like it before. The coffee notes were subtle and helped balance out the smoky flavors. While I enjoyed the majority of my food, I am not sure if I will be returning. It was a nice experience, but the dry ribs left me feeling disappointed.

The line wasn't too long, but I did notice it's set up a little differently than I remember. They now use more of the building, so the line runs down the hallway and loops into the restaurant, with two ordering counters available. While you're waiting, they have menus to look at and even a QR code if you'd rather pull it up on your phone. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes before ordering. Once we got to the counter, everything moved quickly. The staff member helped us right away and let us know they'd bring the food out to our table, which I was glad hasn't changed. One thing I did notice is that the original ordering/dining area is no longer open for seating, it looks like it's now used for staff and possibly catering/to-go orders. They have their drink station available for self-service and offer sodas and sweet and unsweet tea options as well as water. Luckily, there's still plenty of seating in the newer dining area, plus a good number of outdoor tables if you want to sit at a picnic table and enjoy the weather. Within a few minutes, we heard our names called and our food came out fast. And honestly, it was just as good as ever. I was especially happy with the sweet potato fries, and even though applesauce isn't anything fancy, it's kind of the perfect side for me at Pappy's. I ended up eating about half of my meal and boxing the rest up for dinner later, which is always a win. Overall, such a great spot, and I'm really glad it's so close to work. Definitely still a fan and will keep going back.

My research brought me here to Pappy's. I'm very glad it did. Ambiance starts with a line out the door, literally. You slowly shuffle down a long hallway full of Pappy's memorabilia. Then you make it to the ordering counter, order, and find a table. The dining room is huge, plenty of tables, with a full complement of sauces on each table. The service people at the counter were friendly, and so were the people delivering the food. The food came out quick and hot and delicious. We had baked beans and potato salad for sides, and they were pretty solid. Nothing show-stealing, but no complaints about them whatsoever. And of course, we got the ribs. Tender, juicy, a nice bite and chew, a decent bark, just a really wonderful rib. Better than any St. Louis style rib I've ever had back home in Florida. Other states, hard to say, the jury's out, but in that moment, I was eating a five-star rib. So good. We also got a 1/4 pound of the Burnt Ends. Usually, burnt ends are the king of meats, but I think we've entered the phase of America, where they're just another variety of meat and not necessarily upper echelon anymore. That being said, these were pretty ok. Should have gotten more ribs. Overall, Pappy's was pretty wow. Great local spot with a lot of pride and history, excellent ribs, I will definitely try to come back next time I'm in town.

It's a neat-looking place--nicely decorated, inviting, and full of that good smoky aroma that hits you as soon as you step inside. We were welcomed immediately, told to sit wherever we liked, and our waitress followed us over to take our drink orders right away. My wife ordered the meatloaf special, and while I teased her for choosing meatloaf at a BBQ joint, I ended up going with the Smoked Reuben. They brought her an entire meatloaf, along with green beans and mashed potatoes. I'm not exaggerating--this loaf easily could have fed three people. It was so good she nearly hurt herself trying to finish it. She almost made it through all the green beans, too, but I managed to snag the last one--and it was delicious. Then came my Reuben: a massive, five-layer monstrosity. I actually asked the waitress whether they made it that way just to impress me (since I had announced upfront that I'm a bit of a Reuben snob, lol) or if all their Reubens are like this. She swore they're all made exactly the same. You've got to see the photo. The marbled rye was sturdy and didn't collapse under the weight of two layers of thinly sliced smoked beef and a thick layer of juicy, tangy sauerkraut. I'm a kraut lover, so I really appreciated how generous they were. The house-made Thousand Island-style sauce tied everything together perfectly. In the nearly 17 years I've been posting on Urbanspoon, Zomato, and now Yelp, this Reuben easily sits in my top three--maybe even my #1. The smoky flavor made it unique, and I loved it. My only regret was not being able to finish this monster of a sandwich--it was delicious but messy, and I went through a handful of napkins. A lovely lady came out to ask how I liked the Reuben and introduced herself as one of the owners. (I apologize--I've forgotten her name!) My only suggestion would be to keep the meat thinly sliced--shaved would be even better--and maybe offer a half portion at a lower price. As it was, I could barely touch my perfectly cooked French fries. To top off the experience, my wife ordered the bread pudding. She has a "gold standard" bread pudding from years ago that she compares all others to, and she said this one was just as good, if not better, than her all-time favorite. I wish we had a Sugar and Smoke closer to home, because it would absolutely be a regular stop for us. It's so refreshing to find an establishment that cares this much about its food and its customers.

Ordered a 3 meat platter, ribs, burnt ends & brisket, sides were Mac & cheese & twisted fries. Platter took a few minutes to make while we freshened up, got our drinks and found a table. Food was delivered and first off everything looked yummy, everything was also hot which is important to me. Ribs were lightly smoked, had good bark on them & were seasoned well. Burnt ends were delicious and so was the brisket. Platter served with 2 slices of bread & garlic butter, this was a nice touch. Sides were both yummy as well. Tried a few of their specialty sauces and they were delicious as well. Now I may be nit picking here, but they lost a point for how the platters were served, 2 identical platters should be identical. One platter had thick cut brisket, the other thin sliced. One had Mac & cheese with crunchy crumbles, the other no crumbles. Also the ribs were dry, I know with baby back there is not much meat, but these were overdone.

There it was like finding a Walgreens, there practically was one on every block. After a few misses at other restaurants, I thought I'd give Fire-n-Smoke a try. Actually, I was driving back from STL and my go to in STL was closed due to a water pipe break, so I had no BBQ in the car. When I programmed their address in the GPS, I was shocked how close it was to the intersection of 111 and 255. This was going to be an easy pick-up and back on the road to home. First impressions count and this place was super clean, practicing social distancing and everyone was wearing mask (correctly) and the staff were also wearing gloves on both sides of the counter. Win! Being a first time visitor, I'll admit I went overboard with my order. I ordered way to much food for one person, but I got to sample many things and I divided it up into additional meals. Not only did I have today's lunch, but I also have lunch and dinner for tomorrow. To sample multiple meats, I ordered the Three Meat Platter. I choose; Baby Back Ribs, Burnt Ends and Pulled Pork. The young cashier recommended the pulled pork, she said it was one of their most popular. Out of the three meats, it was my favorite. The ribs had good flavor, but did not totally fall off the bone the way I like it. I had to do some work, to get all the meat off the bone. The Burnt Ends were good, but a little fattier then I am use to. However, I'll give them another try. My platter came with two sides. Everyone raves about the Mac-n-Cheese in the Yelp reviews, so it was a no brainer to choose it. Again, I asked the cashier which other one I should choose and she recommended the Fried Potato Twisters. I didn't want two heavy carbs, so I asked if they did the BBQ Beans in house and she said, yes. I know it's another carb, but it just seemed a better choice. Also, easier to split up into another meal than cold fries. I liked the Mac-n-Cheese. I really appreciated that it was baked and served in its own separate tin dish. Could have had more seasoning for me, but that can be resolved with a pepper shaker and spices from home. The BBQ Beans were pretty standard and had good flavor and lots of brisket pieces in it. In addition to the Three Meat Platter, I ordered 6 Chicken Wings and I'll tell you now, these little babies will be a go to for me. They are smoked over oak before being tossed in the fryer and tossed in the sauce of your choice. I had the Buffalo sauce served on the side for mine. No sauce needed, these little beauties tasted divine, just as they were. Best of all, they also packaged them, 3 flats and 3 drums. If you know me, you know I want the numbers to match. Service was friendly and as stated earlier, they were following CDC guidelines to the max. So glad I finally gave them a try and realized it's only a 12-15 drive from home. Not bad for good BBQ.
