Fun social vibe at this bar with happy hour specials in Capitol Hill. We sat at the large table in the back and had a great time together. Unfortunately, our server was tough to communicate with. She made us feel uneasy and was unpleasant with her communications. I recommend trying the crab dip with pretzels, it's a unique dish here. The french fries were nothing special. The sweet chili wings are excellent! The nachos on happy hour special okay.

My boyfriend and I recently went for happy hour drinks and had a blast. There's plenty of seating in the area, it's incredibly inviting and open. Definitely a good spot for work or social events. Service was spotty but most folks were friendly and the drinks are affordable. A great dive that I recommend if you're in the Capitol Hill area.

food is underwhelming. i got a crab cake sandwich, but wasn't expecting much anyway. could use more seasoning/tartar sauce. service was good and it's a neat bar. wish there was more politics/political theme considering that's what this bar is supposed to be.

Came here for a drink and an appetizer after visiting the Capitol building. It had that rustic meets chic vibe with the chandeliers. The guy at the bar was very nice. We ordered the garlic parmesan wings, which were so good! We also had the apple pie, which was also good.

Just checked out the new Brunch Menu at Hawk n' Dove. Amazing unique menu and delicious selections: Shrimp Omelette and Crab Cake Benedict were outstanding. More traditional selections available as well and we will be back!

This is exactly what the inside looks like. I forgot to take a photo of my food.

My colleagues and I went here for lunch after we me made it to DC. The restaurant is clean & the greeter, manager, and waiter were all very accommodating! I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. It was good. It was just your average chicken sandwich with fries. I would go back, but the next time I'm trying the stroganoff!

Quality - 3/5 Price / quantity - 2/5 Service - 1/5 Ambiance - 5/5 Not impressed by the food here. The menu options are extremely overpriced and not worth the size! I got the shrimp sandwich which was way overpriced for four pieces of shrimp + bread. We had a party of 7 during a not so busy time. Food took about an hour. Additionally, whenever we ordered dessert, it took about 45 mins to receive - and the dessert (the apple crisp) still had frozen pieces inside! Ambiance was good. The place is spacious, clean and a great place for larger groups. The location is also right next to Eastern Market and a fun place in town.

Steak salad and lemonade were great. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, but he found it a bit dry and so thought it was ok; however, the waffle fries were excellent.

It makes perfect sense that the Hawk 'n' Dove used to be a drop location for spies. At this amazing venue, your cut-out can be carbs and not just the guy you're passing COMINT to when you come in from the cold and have a cold one. Why have your cobbler make you a new passport, when it could be dessert? The staff is so friendly, if you were to mention 'Dezinformatsiya', they're most certainly respond with 'Gesundheit'. The only mole at Hawk 'n' Dove is going to be guacamole. Even if you're a floater, they have a soup of the day! Every handler there wears plastic gloves to prevent cross-contamination and the honey trap will only be all over your chicken tenders. I'm telling you, even if you're burned, the food won't be. So, take heed of this HUMINT, be a walk-in at Hawk 'n' Dove and make infiltrating the bar part of your pattern. This is definitely not disinformation.

After seating, we waited 10-15 minutes and two different people had to ask if we'd been helped before she came over and got our server. The server barely introduced herself and only asked whether we wanted tap, spring or sparkling water. We barely saw our server and when we did, it was unpleasant. When she returned, she said, "y'all know what y'all want," which felt inappropriate for a 21st birthday celebration. Considering that she didn't ask about appetizers. It just felt like we were a bother. Then four out of five meals arrived first, but the birthday girl's food came about five minutes later. We waited to eat until her meal arrived, and my grits were already congealed. Refills were limited to water from the hostess, dessert was never offered, and the server left the check while the adults were in the restroom with two teenagers at the table. We would've ordered dessert. Even the cake felt handled last-minute. The hostess retrieved it from the fridge, added the candles, and offered plasticware and to-go boxes instead of plates, which seemed odd. We discussed the cake beforehand, and after it arrived I told the hostess she could cut a piece if she wanted. Then the server yelled "no" rudely over the table. It felt like she was upset we brought a cake, and communicated to the hostess that we wouldn't get plates or actual silverware, despite being told beforehand it was fine. Overall, the service felt unwelcoming and inattentive, leaving the meal far below what we expected. We didn't even feel comfortable taking pictures. We will never ever be back and I have already steered my friends away from your establishment.

We hoped to find a place that offered decaf coffee since it was late in the day, but really wanted something warm since it was a bit chilly outside. Unfortunately, this location of Toastique does not offer decaf - they only have a single hopper for their coffee, so it is not an offering. We were going to find another place, however, they said how about a hot chocolate or a tea. My friend is vegan and inquired if their hot cocoa was vegan, as most places have dairy in the chocolate. The cashier went to look at the chocolate syrup and also had another person look at it to verify it's vegan. My friend ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk. Even though it was busy, we only waited about 5 minutes for her drink. We appreciated the effort to double check it was vegan, though I do wish they had decaf options.

This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

We split the DL's Egg Drop (the bulgogi breakfast sandwich) and the Hatch Green Chili sandwich. Both were well executed. The bulgogi brought some real depth to what could have easily been a gimmick, and the hatch green chili edged it out for me personally. The heat was there without being obnoxious, and everything held together the way a good sandwich should. Friends went with the shrimp and grits and had nothing but good things to say. The team behind this place (Scott Drewno and Danny Lee, also of Anju and ChiKo) knows what they're doing, and it shows. We were seated immediately with a 6 person party, so that was nice. Service was "okay". Our waitress was very friendly. However, when I asked for certain things, she did not disclose up front extra costs. For example, they have a kids' scrambled eggs and toast. Because I asked for the eggs to not be on top of the toast, they served the bread plain. So of course my kids wanted jam. It was $1 for just enough jam for one (maybe two) slices of toast. She didn't tell me this up front, so I found out when the bill came. It's more of an annoyance than anything. I also ordered turkey sausage because it's "healthier". Nowhere on the menu does it mention an upcharge and of course my server did not mention the upcharge. Had I known, I would have made a different choice for the meat. Not disclosing information seems very dishonest and a sly way to squeeze money out of each person. The food itself was pretty good. Just expect to be nickel and dimed for EVERYTHING. They also charge a surcharge of 20% (also not mentioned on the menu that I saw). I honestly would have tipped more because that's what I usually do, but having the automatic surcharge had me change my mind. I'd be back for sure if I were in the area. I'd just be aware of the prices and ask more questions when ordering.

Super popular tourist spot (and with good reason!),I def reccomend making a reservation. Luckily for my visit on a Saturday at 1pm, the wait to be seated wasn't too long, only about 10 minutes. I've never had oysters anywhere besides New York so I wanted to try them here and my mom got the fried oyster deviled eggs. Our sever Stephanie was such a delight and probably has the coolest pin collection I've ever seen. Also the restaurant just has a really beautiful atmosphere to sit down and enjoy some really great hospitality. Onto the food! Oysters were smaller than I thought they'd be but SO FLAVORFUL and just the right amount of brine, and slid beautifully from the shell 10/10 The deviled eggs were given a 10/10, presentation was beautiful and the pickled relish was a well rounded addition We then finished up by sharing the cheasapeake eggs Benedict! Which featured their famous crab cake. The HOLLANDAISE?? literally danced in my mouth. The crab meat was so tender and buttery!
