Had a problem with my battery as I pulled into Home Depot next-door. Came out and it was completely dead and of course now nowadays no one in the general public is going to offer you help with a jump. So I walked down the way to Firestone, talked to a nice young guy and five minutes later he was walking back to my car with the portable jumper pack and got the car started, and he suggested maybe I'll should bring it over there to test it the battery. I suggested possibly a battery problem or maybe even it was an alternator. So I drove it next-door to the firestone . He plugged in his machine underneath the dash to get the readouts and yes it was the battery. So in 30 to 45 minutes I had a new battery installed it was decent it was around $200 which is probably a standard price and I wasn't left stranded. I took my 2012 Toyota Nissan in about 2 months ago. The car needed front end work, both control arms replaced and the traction control light was on, and the car was making a popping noise when I turned the wheel. They charged me $2500.00 for the repairs. I had to take it in 2x because it still was making the noise and it driving over bumps like a wagon, which it never did before ,even though it's an older car. It's still isn't repaired correctly. It still makes the popping noise, and drives terrible. DON'T take your car to this place. They don't do quality work and they don't care I dealt with Caesar, the manager, and he just brushed me off. Horrible place to take your car for repairs! They charge you for a "COMPLETE CAR INSPECTION " but they don't properly diagnose your vehicle. They ridiculously OVER CHARGED me for unnecessary repairs. I was charged over 1.250 for repairs that should never have been done. Because after 24 hours of having my car serviced at this dive my car broke down in the middle of traffic. I ended up taking it to a 3rd mechanic after the 2nd failed to help and found out I needed a new engine so what FIRESTONE DID WAS JUST EMPTY MY POCKETS! We have had nothing but problems at this place and I've given them plenty of chances (too many). This last time they were just fixing a wheel issue. Three days later I notice it's leaking brake fluid and has a loose lug nut! They recommended $700 in additional services after their "courtesy inspection", but the brakes were NOT included. This is my 16yo daughter's car. It was completely unsafe to drive. They can't even properly tighten the lug nuts. And the brake issue was a leaking caliper that they installed just 9 months ago! Took my son's car to Firestone on a Sunday for an oil change. The next day the car would not accelerate and there was a significant amount t of smoke coming from the exhaust system. Took the car to a mechanic who said the problem was that the oil cap was left off and oil was all over the engine. This caused the turbo charger to fail. Called Firestone to report their negligence and they offered to tow the vehicle at their expanse and they would "make it right." Car was towed on Wednesday. On Saturday they acknowledged that the cap was probably left off because the technician couldn't remember if he put it on. However, they insisted that the turbo charger was failing for "awhile," yet this was not brought up during the oil change. I informed the manager the turbo charge was replaced two years ago. The manager continued to insist they were not responsible. They "made it right" by giving us an estimate of $2600 for repairs that the mechanic quoted would cost $1700. Save your time and money and find another service provider. read more

So, I set up some work to be done on my truck. I scheduled an appointment online, the time I selected was 11AM. Now, the day of the appointment, I figured, if I go when they open...maybe, depending on how busy, I might get my truck serviced earlier. Now, when I mentioned that the gentleman behind the counter let me know outright, "I won't even look at it(my truck) until 11." I wasn't too out of sorts about that. I get it...people make appointments for earlier times/some things get backed up. Dropped off my truck, went home. Got a call around 1:10'ish. And was told they would just now be looking at my truck. That kind of threw me for a loop. I mean, I was off so, I didn't have to do stuff, but...I didn't want to be without a ride if I needed one, you know? So, I was told it should take a few hours, they'd let me know when it was done. When I didn't hear anything around 5'ish...I started to get concerned. Had someone drop me off, I could see my truck still on the lift. Checked in, was told another 30 minutes and they'd be done. Sweet. Truck is functioning well. I have taken my truck to this location on several occasions over the last few years. Whenever I needed to replace an expensive part, they always directed me to a trustworthy auto shop that would handle it at a more affordable price. They've also replaced parts for my truck that have made it run better. No complaints there. However, with my pasted two oil changes I've requested to get all of my fluids topped off and both times my car has left me stranded because my radiator coolant was bone dry. Not only was my radiator coolant empty, so was my washer fluid and my steering wheel fluid. The first time it happened it was a week after my visit at Firestone and my car just shut down at a stop light during heavy traffic. The second time it happened it was about 3 weeks after my visit and I was left stranded in a parking lot outside of my work. Both times I put radiator coolant in my truck, my car started up just fine and gave me no problems afterward. Between these two visits I've taken my car to jiffylub twice and did not experience this issue. This car is my livelihood, anytime I have enough money saved up I put it into my car to improve it's performance. I didn't replace just about every part in my engine just to have it all to go to hell because some jerk couldn't top off the fluids in my truck. The first time it happened, I gave Firestone the benefit of the doubt because they have taken such good care of me before. I thought maybe I hadn't made it clear that that's what I wanted, or maybe I hadn't asked and thought I did. The second time I made sure to ask the guy not just once, but twice. Guy at this place lied to me. My tire pressure light was lit when i went in for an oil change. Told them about it at check in. Was told they would handle it as tire pressure checks were included with the service. After i get in the vehicle to leave i notice the light is still lit. Go back in to talk to the guy and he says it's supposed to be like that because it is a learn as you go thing and the light will extinguish after driving for a little bit. It never did. Guy was full of crap. Put air in myself and it the light cleared immediately. If they lie about something that small, makes you wonder what else they will make up. Will not return. Freedom automotive now gets my business for maintenance and my tires come from Sam's club. read more

Dont use them. Have 3 vehicles with tires from them. Sent a wheel there to have a factory TPMS valve installed which has their tires on it, was told it would be all day the first time. Bought wheel back to now hear they wont install a factory sensor in because they want to rape people on their own parts mark up. Not only should they have said this the 1st time but as a manager of a shop I would be in all kinds of hot water for poor excuse for customer service like that. EDIT: They resolved my issues and did pay for the part and their mistake. Therefore I bumped em to 3 stars. PRIOR ISSUES: Forced to pay for damages Firestone made to my vehicle. Firestone, damaged another part while removing the initial part to be replaced. This resultantly caused the vehicle to be rendered undrivable and were forced to make another costly repair at my expense. There was no offer of negotiation. I would have ceased all repairs after said damage was made and went to another mechanic shop, however, due to the nature of the damage caused by them, the car is undrivable. Brought my car in for an alignment. Tech and service writer stated they couldn't do the alignment (despite doing one 6 months prior) because my car had "lane assist" in which it does not. They said their alignment rack got a software update (same hunter system as any other shop) and because I have a back-up camera, they couldn't do an alignment. Ended up going to a different firestone and getting the job done. read more

I don't know what all these negative reviews are about but I had a different experience. I read the reviews before I got there and was skeptical when I walked in. I arrived 20 minutes before my appointment and they were so kind and accommodating right away. They took my car in immediately and did everything they needed to do [one tire replacement, tire rotation, oil change] in under an hour. They gave me rebate forms and took a coupon I had and even included a coupon I didn't know existed. Don't listen to the negative reviews on here. I had an unexpected visit to this location last Monday when i was on the highway and got a flat tire. I had to get a tow and was towed to this location where Jeff helped me out tremendously. I was in and out in no time. Thank god my tire only needed a plug and not to be replaced. I appreciate that Jeff was honest with me he could have easily told me i needed a new tire and i wouldn't of known better. I needed a replacement tire while traveling. I'd had a tough time finding the tire itself and even more trouble finding someone who could get it changed quickly -- on a Saturday. Sunday morning, I was sure i was out of luck. Jeff at the Shorewood location, was extrememly helpful, listened, and was able to get me squeezed in. The tech, Noah, was top-notch and super fast. Dropped car off for battery change (takes about 20min to do). "it will take 1 hr". so I turned my running car off, went in, gave my keys and went home (10min away) Waited 2.5 hrs with no return call. On hold x3 for a total of 17min. Finally reached a person! "Well, you went back outside to get your keys and never gave them to us". I said, " Sure hope you didn't lose them, I will be in to get my car and a friend will change the battery, cancel all! They rep said OK. When I got there 30min later, since I had to wait for this friend to take me, I was told your car is in the shop up on the rack (NOT needed on the rack for a battery change!). REALLY!!! They did not want my scene in the waiting room so the rep ran to the shop. After 20 more min I asked, "will it take you another 2.5 hrs to take it off the rack just like it took 2.5 hrs to get it up there?? Never again will I forget to review YELP, etc. for service ratings! read more

Went in today for an oil change, alignment and overall inspection of my vehicle. Scheduling was easy, and various times available that suited my needs. Service was prompt. The service guys were very professional and informed me of everything they were going to do to my vehicle, why it was being done and all suggested services. (Wipers, tail light was out and my treads were good!) They were not pushy, they didn't try to upsell me in frivolous work and kept everything very straight forward. They completed the work in the time frame they gave me aswell. I would definitely recommend them for service for your vehicle. It's not often that you find a shop that isn't pushy and trying to sell you things you don't need or understand. read more

If you are a girl, they will rip you off. Went in because my engine light was on, they told me I needed 2 new tires ($458) and my timing belt changed ($956). Talked to someone I knew who works at a dealership, to then find out the timing belt part only costs $25!!!!, and my eagle rs tires are $89 a piece. I was able to get 2 new tires with warranty and my timing belt changed all for $250 at the dealership, instead of the $1,500 Firestone would have charged. It's a shame this place is in business. DO NOT GO TO FIRESTONE, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!! Never will I come to this place again! read more

2 Years ago I brought in my car to have an alignment done at the Naperville location. Right after I left the lot I couldn't drive straight unless the steering wheel was way off to the right. I brought it back for them to do another alignment. Saturday I brought in my car to the Shorewood location because I suspected a bad wheel bearing. I told them about the grinding noise coming from the front left tire and told them that's the only thing I noticed wrong, that's why I brought it in. The guy at the counter treated me as if I was stupid because of the conclusion I came to of what is wrong. They called me back Sunday telling me that my two front rims are bad and that all the tires are worn different because the car is out of alignment. The alignment was done by the Naperville Firestone 2 years prior so there is one problem right there. Next they tell me, yes the bearing on the front left tire is going and that I need to replace the abs speed sensor with it. Also the back brakes were bad which I kind of figured. So he gave me the estimate of repairing the wheel bearing at about $1000 because the speed sensor is expensive and with labor. That wasn't including two new rims. I tell them just to do the back brakes for now, so they did. Later on Sunday, they call me that they are done so I pick it up right at closing time (5pm). Immediately as I'm driving home I notice the car is a lot louder. Sounded like the exhaust to me. So today I bring it back in which is Monday. The guy at the counter when I start telling him something don't sound right and I believe it's my exhaust, he gives me a snotty attitude saying "Oh it's probably your bearings getting louder now that your back brakes are fixed. So I tell them I want them to look at it anyways because it sounds a lot different than when I brought it in. They called me back 2 hours later, the mechanic tells me "There definitely is something wrong with the exhaust." So I told him it wasn't doing that before I brought it in and he says, "I doubt that." And then says well exhausts aren't there specialty and says I can pick the car up. He then changed the subject back to the wheel bearings so I wouldn't talk about the exhaust. So now I have a car that still has a bad wheel bearing and the exhaust has a problem that wasn't there before. The 3 people I dealt with were all ignorant when in fact I was right about what I believed was wrong, both the problem before I took it in and the problem that they caused during the time they had it. This place is a joke. I had an appointment for 3:00 on a saturday... was told " we will call you with an update before we close"... no call. I called them the next morning. " oh yes we are bringing your car in now". I replied, "dont bother, I'm taking my business elsewhere." Firestone is and always has been a joke. My family and i have given them MUTIPLE chances. My engine temperature gauge began to indicate my engine was overheating while I was driving to my vacation. I'd had a number of services performed on my car a little over a month prior, including replacing the thermostat. When I called the Shorewood location to let them know I was heading their way, Kevin was calm and patient with me on the phone, and he gave me excellent advice to turn the heat all the way up in my car, which kept the temperature gauge level. When I got there, he was understanding of my problem and prioritized my issue, because he knew I was basically stranded unless the car got fixed that day. Once it was identified that the issue was a faulty thermostat, Kevin explained what had likely gone wrong and even gave me the old thermostat. He acted very professionally, and I appreciate him pulling strings to get my car fixed quickly. read more

I needed to have new tires mounted and balance on my rims. I dropped the tires and rims off on Friday at 1:30pm and was told they would be ready by end of business that day. I waited and waited with no call. So I called them 30 mins before close and was told they didn't get to it and that it would be done on Saturday 06/01/2019. On Saturday I waited all day and got no call. Again I called them 30mins before close and they told me that they did not get to it again. I was told that Kevin would be told the next day to get it on the next day first thing in the morning which was Sunday. On Sunday 06/02/2019 I called them in the morning and talked to Kevin and was told that they would get the tires on some time on Sunday. I told them I have been told this since Friday and I was told this would be done this morning. I told them this need to be done on 06/02/2019 by 12:00pm as I am not happy with this service. I was told that they had one tire done already. I got a call at 12:07pm from Kevin stating that the they could not get the tires on the rim and I need to take it to have a special machine to put the tire on as their machine cannot get the tire on the rim. So I was lied to as the tire was partially on the rim and that the one tire they told me was done was not done. At this point I am upset and displeased but kept my cool as I was not going to be unprofessional as I am a paying customer. So they suggested that I come pick the tires and rims up (2 total Rims & Tires) and take them to a specialty shop to get them mounted and balanced. I picked up the tires at 12:30pm on Sunday now and took them to National Tire & Battery down the street on 59 in Shorewood. I talked to the manager there and he looked at the tires and told me they were trying to mount the tires improperly resulting in it not going on the rim as I have reverse mounting rims. After dropping the tires off at National Tire & Battery at 12:45pm I was called at 1:45pm with them telling me both tires had been mounted and balanced and were ready for pick-up! Never take you car to this shop as they have no clue what they are doing and will screw your tires up. I have 20" rims with low profile tires (255/30R20) which makes them challenging but they are not that challenging that it should take two days to get them mounted and balanced. I didn't even get an apology for the inconvenience or the lack of professionalism from this establishment and will never go there for anything in the future!!!! read more
