Well , Michael did not tell the truth. He did indeed sit at the bar and was given a water and beer. The waitress did state the specials and gave him a menus he gave directly back to her. He ordered three. Even if there was miscommunication he received double the amount of tacos for the same amount. The waitress did let him know if he wanted a to go container she would get him one because he was loud and rude. Quite rude. I believe he was having a bad day and stated to me he flew in at 1am the night before. Nothing would have made him happy. Comp the food. Apologies for the mix up. The service is alright depending on what time you go there. Don't expect too much if you are sitting down at a table and they've got a full bar. Most of the food is good bar food. Last time we were in I got the shrimp fettuccine alfredo and was sorely disappointed when little tiny baby shrimp were sprinkled all over it. Short have become my new go to bar, it's close to home. All of the girls are friendly and attentive, & they already know what I want to drink when I sit down. Menu is huge, haven't tried much, because what I have, I keep getting. The chicken wrap(even though I tweek the ingredients) chili burger, club and the giant pretzel. *boom boom sauce is yum! Also they have homemade soups everyday. They have always been good, may favorite was the spicy asparagus. Give it a try, or a second if have an issues in the past. read more

Wow...I actually created a Yelp account after trying to eat at this place. I wish I would have read these reviews before I wasted $25. I had to get a set of new tires put on my car across the street at Les Schwab, so I thought it would be a good place to kill an hour. The place is in a good location and is quite nice when you walk in. Lots of TV's and some arcade games including a pool table. This is where the positive vibes ended. My wife and I sat at a table near the bar. The place was pretty empty. I think there was only one other table being used and an older lady drinking at the bar. There were at 2 waitresses working and a bartender behind the bar. We were never greeted when we came in or after we sat down. It became kind of a joke at first. I wanted to see how long it would take for one of the waitresses to stop at our table. After 12 minutes of sitting, and being avoided of eye contact by all, I walked to the bar and ordered 2 beers. A waitress who was talking to the woman drinking at the bar said "If you sit at your table I will bring them over". I guess she didn't want the bartender to get the tip? The waitress dropped the beers off and said "what else can I get you!". We laughed and said "how about a couple of menus?" . She stomped off and grabbed 2 and tossed them on our table on her way back to the great conversation she was having at the bar. The selection on the menu was actually pretty good. I decided to try the prime rib dip. My wife decided on the appetizer of the hot wings. Well...guess what. The waitress once again forgot that one other table was being used at this bar. After another awkward 10 minutes, I took our empty beer glasses to the bar again and asked for refills and if we can order food. The waitress got pissed again and I told her what I wanted. The food came in a decent amount of time, but was very bad. The wings (how can a bar screw up wings?) tasted like the kind that you get at costco and microwave. Very fatty and no flavor. The prime rib sandwich was worse. I think I made the waitress mad and she must have hand picked the most fatty, gristly, pieces of meat she could find. This was between 2 layers of stale bread my chickens would have rejected. After picking the few bites of decent meat from the sandwich, I had to go back to the bar and ask for a bill. Is this place seriously this bad all the time? On a positive note, because it took so long, my tires were all changed and the car was ready. Shame on you Hawkeyes...Good for you Les Schwab. I told my story to the guy at Les Schwab and he laughed and said nobody that works there will go there because of their service and food. Too bad since it is right across the street. read more

I went to this bar and had the worst service from the bar tender i have had in a long time... waiting... waiting... waiting... finally get to order a drink and it was a bad drink at that.. then the bar tender randomly get's my friend another drink that he did not want and pawned it off on me! My boyfriend and I stopped in to Hawkeye's this past July while on vacation. WOW!!! This place ROCKS! I can't say enough about Patty and how attentive she was to us...before our beverage was finished, she was right there to get us another one! Great atmosphere, lots of laughter and good vibes in the air. The place is very clean and colorful....love the beer garden! So bright and happy out there! Very good soup! Great service during the Seahawks game! Parking could be better but its in a good location. They have really good wings and nachos - and great selection of beer. Spent $5 to wait 1/2 an hour and get treated like garbage! My boyfriend and I went for their "All you can eat crab" night and were treated deplorably. We were brought drinks then waited for over half an hour to have our order taken. There were other servers standing around talking to patrons and when I finally saw our server I asked if we could please order. She gave me a snotty look and walked away to another table to ask if they needed more wine. I couldn't believe it! When we finally got a chance to order my boyfriend ordered a sandwich and I ordered the crab. I was told flatly "we're out." Rude. I ordered a salad and after a moment we both decided to cancel our orders and just pay for our drinks and go. The whole situation felt weird (people were being served crab around us) and after we left I called to see if they were still doing their crab dinner. I was told "yup!" and when I asked how long it went I was told "until we run out." So either I was lied to as a paying customer in the restaurant or I was lied to over the phone by not being told that the special had ended for the night. Unless you enjoy being treated like a piece of trash, I recommend you stay away from this place. The food isn't good and the service is the worst around. We ended up just going to McDonalds and were treated better in the drive through than we were at Hawkeye's. read more

Stopped for a burger and beer after a long backpacking trip. The bar waitress refused to take my cousin's Montana Drivers License/ID. The ID was valid and in good shape. She simply said " I don't feel comfortable accepting this because of how it looks." When I asked if a manager could approve it, she said "I am the manager.". This is a great place to bring the family. If my husband likes the food at a resturant he'll order two meals. He first ordered a hamburger then had fish & chips. I had the fish & chips as well. We have had great meals in the past as we live close by and come often but there are definitely different cooks -one is great! The food is decent for bar food. The service is hit and miss, but errs on the side of miss. A lot of the time they act like they're doing you a favor to wait on you, but some of the servers are better than others. I stop in fairly regularly and tend to stay longer and enjoy the service more when I get one of their better servers. Worth a try, but Razzals is generally a better option. read more

I used to absolutely love this place. When they made it family friendly I was very excited because my parents always raved about this place. For a while they had good deals and good food. However, at my last visit I was bummed to see a big increase in the prices. We were charged for ranch without being told how much, which I felt was a little tacky. The service was lacking too. When we sat down we waited forever just for some waters, even though the restaurant and bar were dead. The waitress had zero personality and it came across like she wasn't interested in serving us. I ordered a chicken wrap and my boyfriend had the fish and chips. When we first started coming to this restaurant the fish and chips were the best around. That has greatly changed. I could make better frozen fish at home, which is ridiculous considering what they charge. The fish was hard, flat and had no taste. My wrap was made wrong the first time and the waitress was irritated that I wanted it remade. After the poor experience we looked into our bill closely and saw charges for ridiculous things. We were charged for our to go box, for the ranch, all without being told ahead of time. I will definitely be taking my money elsewhere, which is sad because this used to be one of my favorite places to go in Lake Stevens. read more
