Ambiance - Cool little converted 2-story flat that has been converted into one business downstairs and the restaurant upstairs. Entrance is down a short alleyway and up a set of stairs in the back. Tizley's sits on the main drag downtown and didn't appear to have a view of the water per se, but the (limited) balcony dinning sits right over all the action going on down on the street...which seemed cool, though my wife and I elected to sit indoors on this day. Inside is very nicely decorated in a Austro-Bavarian tavern/pub style. Pretty cool and this was exactly what my wife and I wanted when we decided on eating lunch here. FB marketplace brought us to town for the day and Yelp brought us to Tizley's. Service - we hit Tizley's right at high noon and they were pretty busy. Despite this, we were seated within ten minutes - a nice surprise as the hostess (and possibly owner/manager??) initially cited us a 20-minute wait. Our waiter was prompt, friendly, and very efficient throughout our entire meal. He checked in on us frequently and ensured we were enjoying our meal. Food - I had the Wiener schnitzel and my wife had the Jägerschnitzel - both of us had mash and spaetzle as our sides. Both of us enjoyed our schnitzels - in my case, I was truly happy their Wiener schnizle was in fact a veal cutlet and not pork... which I've found to be a common substitute here in the PNW. Was looking for a good place to grab some dinner with friends in Poulsbo and came upon this place in a list of recommendations. I made a reservation for our party just in case as it was a Saturday night. The restaurant is actually located upstairs and access is gained by walking along the side of the building down a small alley. Thankfully another reviewer mentioned this. Many German dishes were on the menu. My group opted we share a large pretzel as an appetizer. Totally a wonderful home made pretzel served with bier cheese and two different types of mustards. I ordered the jaegerschnitzel with German potato salad. The schnitzel had a wonder flavor and it was covered in a mushroom gravy. I was so impressed with the potato salad. Came for the schnitzel and it didn't disappoint! I got the Jaeger schnitzel which is a breaded fried pork cutlet with a mushroom gravy. You can pick two sides and I got potato salad and rotkohl (red cabbage). It was a very hearty and filling meal. The schnitzel with the mushroom gravy was delicious! I loved the sides too. My sister got the shepherds pie which was also great! Very flavorful and came with a fresh side salad. They have indoor seating and some outdoor seating on the balcony overlooking Poulsbo. I'd recommend sitting outside if it's a nice day! Definitely recommend this place if you're in Poulsbo. The portions are big, the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly and nice. read more

Service was amazing! Our server was so kind and sweet. We were in town for a Mother's Day weekend and came here to try it out. The reviews were very hot and cold but I thought the food was good! We actually came here twice in one day since we didn't have a full kitchen at our air bnb. First meal we had the Shepards pie and that was very cozy and home cooked tasting. Then we came back from dinner and had the food pictured below. Yes the pork cutlet was slightly bland but I think it's supposed to be that way. Dress it up with lemon juice and eat with the spetzle it was good. The fry was so crispy and that was awesome. Their dill cream dressing for salad is delicious. We went here for dinner our first night in Poulsbo. The restaurant is not easy to find from the street but a passerby explained that you need to go down a hallway then upstairs. That was helpful. The ambience is European (hence the name). We sat indoors although there is outside seating on a balcony overlooking the Main Street. I had the salmon, which came with mashed potatoes and cucumber salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the potatoes were delicious. The salad was good too. One negative was that I asked for potato soup as a starter but it came at the same time as my entree. The wife had the Shepard's pie and loved it. The meat was fall apart tender. The veggies were perfectly cooked. The crust was flaky and perfectly cooked. It was one of the best Shepard's pie I ever tasted. The kid had pasta with red sauce and liked it. The accompanying garlic bread was excellent. The entire menu was really enticing and I would love to eat there again. Overall, the food was 5 stars. The reason for 4 stars is that we waited a really long time to get our food and my starter soup came along with my salmon so I had to eat both simultaneously to avoid one getting cold. The reason for slow service was that there was only one waitress on duty for the entire restaurant. I did not count but she must have had 8 tables at least. She was working really hard but a person can only be stretched so much. I am not sure if another waitress did not show up or if they are always shorthanded. read more

What a cozy European space! Loved the music- mix of 70's and 80's rock; delicious taster flights, and amazing German food. Service was pretty slow but they were pretty busy with an influx of people so totally no worries there, I was too busy getting buzzed off of a mimosa flight. My boyfriend got the Wiener schnitzel and I ended up just getting a cucumber salad due to a meal plan I'm on (sad I know). I will say from me the cucumber salad was 10/10. Perfectly sour. I don't give many 5 star reviews but this was a very tasty meal with friendly service. I really appreciated that our server didn't seem annoyed that we asked to share a meal. The portions were so huge and we weren't going to be home soon enough to put leftovers away. We preferred the mushroom gravy schnitzel with the potato salad. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly fried. The gravy had a ton of flavor but not too salty. The potato salad wasn't really like a traditional German potato salad that you normally get at a deli but they were still so very good in all the gravy. It was more of just like steamed potatoes with a slightly tangy taste, I did see some mustard in there. Maybe that's the way it's traditionally done? The other side was just a basic mixed greens salad with a yummy blue cheese dressing you could tell was homemade. At $22 & the quality /amount you get, this was worth it. We also ordered a side of spatzeal ( spelling it wrong) that we didn't end up getting brought out but there was so much food it worked out. We will definitely be back! There's outdoor seating for when it's a nice day and a very extensive beer and drink menu. The pretzels looked amazing! After doing some some research and watching youtube videos, we were looking forward to visiting this place as a highlight to our day after 4th of July visit. Unfortunately, this place was a disappointment. I'd like to point out some pros and cons, hopefully for the owner to take away as positive suggestions for improvements. Pros: Friendly and hardworking staff. Good location in the middle of downtown. Cons: Servers were doing their best, but they were seriously overworked given the layout and conditions of the restaurant . Hostess was also very nice, but again overworked and struggled to help customers know how long they would need to wait, etc. Weiner Schnitzel, German Potato Salad, and Spaetzel were bland . Really bland. When we asked about this, they brought us a prepared cup of salt and pepper. Seems like we were definitely not the first to ask about this. Such a popular spot with incredible views and a great patio--especially when the weather is nice. The food seemed authentic and delicious, and overall it's a place you'd expect to love. Unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Our server, Jennifer Burnett, was noticeably warm and attentive to another group nearby, but with us, the service felt dismissive and disengaged. For example, my husband ordered an Aperol spritz, and when they were out, we substituted Campari--but what arrived resembled a raspberry sparkling water, not even close to what Campari tastes like. When we brought it up, the response felt very brushed off. It's disappointing because the setting and food have so much potential, but service matters. I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere in Poulsbo--there are plenty of great spots along the main strip that offer both good food and a better overall experience. read more

i went here with my family for dinner and it was great. i am a picky eater so i was unsure if i would enjoy anything. i am not a huge fan of pork but the schnitzel was surprisingly tasty. the bread was perfectly toasted as well. the service was great. the ambience was amazing. i also shared a giant pretzel with my friend and it was really good. im not the biggest fan of crunchy pretzels but it wasn't too crunchy. it was nice and soft in the inside. for dessert, i had a peach cobbler/streusel and it was AMAZING. it's hard to go wrong with dessert but it was so good. read more

Once again I have to thank my fellow Yelpers for pointing me to a tasty destination. (Looking at you Hannah S!) Thanks to them I knew I was looking for an entrance down an alley. My SO totally missed it as I veered off and 'disappeared'. Once in the door a steep staircase up leads to the restaurant. A hostess stand at the top asks that you wait to be seated. On our week day visit in November, only a few tables were occupied and we got to choose our seats. The hostess was our waitress and the bartender. The kitchen is 'open' to the dining area via a 'pass thru' window for order pick-up by staff. The bar is small with only a few seats and a small area of tables. All together, at a guess, there are just over a dozen total tables for maybe a 50 person occupancy? The decor is a mix of European beer garden and gifts from regular customers. Our waitress was excellent. Very friendly and when I mentioned food sensitivities, she brought me a list the Chef created of possible allergens in their recipes. A welcome surprise. We both enjoyed our meals. Good quality. Tasty. The photo of my Salmon does not do justice to the size of this meal. The portion is large and I didn't eat all the potatoes because I was full. I would have liked more cucumber salad w/o the radish garnish. I love German cucmber salad w/dill dressing. This one was good. Just wish there was more. There is one restrrom for all at the top of the stairs. A couple of highchairs are available for small guests. Paeking on street or in a nearby public lot. Diamond in the rough place! If you're into European food - this is the place for you. I've tried almost everything on this menu and nothing has disappointed me. The mushroom appetizers are uhh mazing the sauce itself is great and the mushrooms are cooked to perfection. I loved the lamb burger with the potato salad. (yes there's no fries but do not let it stop you they also served homemade chips) Another dish I love are the sweetish meatballs - gotta try em! What a lovely find in Poulsbo! My fiancé and I were feeling a bit hungry after perusing around, so we decided to try Tizley's. We headed up to the restaurant and were quickly seated. We got the pretzel - which was so good! Definitely enough to fill you up some. We also got a pork schnitzel sandwich each, one with a side of warm potato salad (don't knock it till you try it). All of it was delicious. The schnitzel was perfectly cooked, not salty, just enough breading, and still juicy! This was such a lovely meal overlooking downtown Poulsbo. The food was really good. I ordered a large pretzel to share that came with beer cheese and two kinds of mustard. For my main course I ordered the chicken sandwich with bacon and Swiss. It had a rosemary flavor to it. I got clam chowder on the side and it was probably the best clam chowder I have ever had. My friend got the schnitzel sandwich and she really liked it. The service was super slow. There was only one waitress and I felt bad for her. She was working super hard, but despite her efforts it was difficult for her to keep up with the demand of the guests. The vibe was somewhat rustic. It bothered me that there were a lot of flies flying around the restaurant. The decor is Bavarian with blue and white diamond check flags hanging. I would get this restaurant zero stars. Our family of 14, including a grandmother in a wheelchair, attempted to have lunch here a few days ago and felt unwelcome from the beginning. A family member went inside to ask about wheelchair access. The employee seemed annoyed and pointed toward the back entrance without saying anything. The entrance was clear when it was first shown to us, but by the time we brought the wheelchair around the back there was a crate, boxes, and a folded carpet blocking it. When asked to clear the way, the same employee moved the items by throwing them out of the way with irritation. A family member had told the manager we were a group of 10 and when I went to clarify that we were actually 14 the manager rudely told me to go back to where everyone was waiting without acknowledging we were 14. The restaurant was empty except for one party of four. Our group could have been seated together at tables while still leaving a walkway open, but instead we were placed on opposite sides of a large divider where we could not see or interact with one another. After several rude interactions, we decided to leave. I politely told the manager our family was leaving and that we did not feel we had been treated very friendly. He responded, "Good. The feeling is mutual." When we asked what we had done, he said, "You're leaving. I don't have to answer that." My husband, brother-in-law, and I have more than 50 years of combined restaurant experience, and we have never seen this level of hostility toward guests. Even if one of our family members was not friendly, it should not have been taken out on the entire group. This type of treatment is inexcusable. read more

Located upstairs on Front Street in picturesque downtown Poulsbo, this restaurant boasted a full bar and great food at a reasonable price. I enjoyed meeting an older couple there who was looking for the same restaurant at the same time. They were in town for their 50th anniversary, so I waited until they had ordered dessert and secretly paid for their meal. Needless to say they were sincerely surprised and it made their day. The service was excellent and the nice lady who had my table took care of me to my complete satisfaction. I took it slow going back down the stairs as my knees both hurt after so many years having a high impact job in the military, but I made it just fine. Charming, truly authentic Europub in the heart of an adorable town! Great food, even better service, cozy vibes - we had an all around excellent lunch experience here! We've traveled all around Europe and they do a great job of bringing the experience here to the lovely PNW! They have a very decent menu with something for everyone and a wide variety of schnitzels. I've only ever had schnitzel in Berlin and Vienna so I was very excited to try one of theirs and opted for their Jaeger-Schnitzel which is the traditional breaded pork cutlet but it's topped with a lovely mushroom gravy which is what makes it "jaeger" lol. It comes with two sides so I opted for traditional spätzle (egg noodles) and a green salad. All of it was top notch and VERY authentic - was just as delicious as the dishes I tried over in Europe - I loved it!! So if you love traditional schnitzel, I can highly recommend it! My hubby went for their salmon dinner which comes with mashed potatoes and cucumber salad. The salmon was very fresh and cooked perfectly with great flavor - very quality piece of fish. All our food was wonderful! Our server was just lovely - very friendly, helpful, and super attentive. Prices are what you'd expect- not too bad considering how touristy the area can be. You can't beat the cozy vibes and their location - right next door to another must-visit in Poulsbo, Sluy's Bakery - and the perfect place for dessert after your meal here! The views from their patio seating area are excellent!! You can see the whole stretch of the adorable downtown area as well as Liberty Bay and forested hills off in the distance - magnificent!! Their indoor seating is cozy and they even have a "pub" section for a nice drink with friends! I wanted chicken schnitzel which was not on the menu. They had veal and pork. "No problem" was their reply.
