Not much scenery, as the lake view is obstructed by trees, but a nice inviting interior. Our server was very accommodating and had great recommendations based on our taste preferences. This was a beautiful spot that we truly enjoyed. It was the bartenders first day so we enjoyed learning about the different wines along with him. His trainer was not nearly as personable as he was but I think he will be a delightful addition to their team. We ordered some lovely wine flights and then sat on a gazebo and enjoyed them. I am really enjoying branching out and learning new things. A winery would have been very much out of my comfort One 10 years ago. I'm so fortunate! The winds here are Is a fairly average representation of Michigan wine. They are better than some of your entry level offerings like St Julian's and 12 Corners, but don't hold a candle to some of the spendier spots like Brys Estate and 2 Lads. The price points are very affordable. The food at the neighboring Thai restaurant was phenomenon and and the portion sizes ample enough that my husband and I were able to share an entree and feel fairly full. The business participates in Harvest Host, which is a program that allows RV travelers to stay overnight at wineries, breweries distilleries, and farms for free (after paying a yearly fee), and we wound up here due to our participation in this program. We will definitely return! The location is a little noisy, since the parking lot sits right on M22 come, but when you walk across the busy road it's only a one minute walk to Traverse Bay's Lake Michigan shore. Will you recommend ordering your meal and and a bottle of wine to go and taking them across the road for a lakeside picnic. read more

Good wines! This place isn't really anything special, but all samples are $1 (except ice wine, which is $4) and the wines are pretty good. My favorite by far was the cranberry wine! In all honesty I'd skip the ice wine in the future... I love a good ice wine, but this one is... a bit much! Not worth the extra cost IMO. Didn't happen to order any cider or wine at Hawkins farm our first visit. It was a place we decided to eat at in between wineries. We LOVED the food. Got there too early to try all of the Thai food (open at 3 got there at 2) got 2 pizzas and a vegetarian egg rolls. Loved the crust, great vibes. read more

If I impress upon you nothing else in this world, it would be to get the Thai Coconut Seafood Soup here -- and to split with a friend. Huge mussels, fresh seafood, tangy coconut broth. Sublime. The Green Thai Curry Chicken is also quite wonderful, as are the Spring Rolls -- but nothing beats that seafood soup by a mile. So, so good. Pro-tip: if you go at 3:30 (right when they open for dinner) you'll likely be treated to the freshest fare of the evening as they get the kitching going. This was accidental in timing as we'd forgotten to eat lunch in TC -- but quite a nice bonus. SEAFOOD SOUP. A must. read more

The food was very clean so if you are expecting Americanized sugary Pad Thai, don't go here. The homemade sauces were delicious. We were the only couple in the restaurant at dinner time, it was a chilly weekend in Transverse City. We saw a few cars drive away because the signage was confusing. We almost left because we thought that they were only doing takeout and didn't know the restaurant was open for indoor seating. The Thai food here is absolutely amazing. The ingredients are so fresh and each plate tastes like a home cooked meal. I keep finding myself coming back here because the food is so good and clean! The portions are big and very filling. The egg rolls (fall and winter) are both delicious, the soups are great at least 2 servings each and the actual plates are a nice big portion so you can bring home for leftovers. T-H-E best pad thai! This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Traverse City area. The owner, Rich, is always working behind the bar and waiting on tables and his wife, Salve, cooks the food! She is from the Philippines and makes some of the best authentic pad thai I've found. I also love her spring rolls, flat bread pizzas, and fish tacos. However, the last 3 times (yes, 3) they have been out of them - gasp- they note on the menu that they are a local favorite, and boy they must be since they are always out of them... and to that I say, up your production! I usually just sigh, lick my wounds and order a delish curry dish, then lick my fingers. Besides my love for the rolls that I can never seem to have; this place is fabulous! You can get things mild, medium, or hot. I can handle hot things but typically get medium since we ride our bikes 12 miles there and I don't need that acid reflux on the ride home... we haven't had a bad meal there. Hmmm...Thai food AND artisan pizza coming out of the same kitchen, eh? That was my thought upon walking into this establishment and seeing the blackboard specials. Because in my experience everything-for everyone pan-ethinic restaurants have a hard time being good at any one cuisine. Well...my partner and I were pleasantly surprised by the Thai side of the menu here. I enjoyed what I think was the best pad thai I have ever had, and my partner was just as pleased with her fish seafood soup and fish tacos. (Yeah, I know; a third cuisine. But they were really, really good -- light, crispy fish and lots of lime and cilantro.) Actually, we traded plates halfway through our dinner because all the food was just so good. Lots of "pop"; fresh flavors; good-quality ingredients. Be warned that the portions are crazy big, so unless you share you will be going home with a carryout box. We also enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the dining area -- warm colors and the work of local artists on the walls, depicting the beauty of Leelanau County. The restaurant is located next to the Chateau De Leelanau tasting room and a new specialty-foods store with an emphasis on local products. There's also an interesting gallery featuring local artists and artisans in the same building complex. We will absolutely be back next time we're in the area! read more

Yum. Stopped by for lunch today, I work a stone's throw away but usually my lunch break doesn't accommodate leisurely lunches. Today, I had time, and I am glad I did. I had some excellent seafood soup, just shrimp, as I wasn't brave enough for the mussels and scallops. Plus, I just like shrimp. It had all my happy thai flavors, keffir lime leaves, lemongrass, joy joy. I had a side of rice and a spinach salad also, needless to say I had 3 containers of leftovers. We stayed at the Red Lion Motor Lodge and this appeared to be the closest restaurant. I never really saw a sign showing "22 Vines & Wines"; It's just a big building that looks like a barn was incorporated with a welcoming porch. Very nice looking, with a parking lot that has a huge WINE TASTING sign, and a few other signs, but none that show you the name of the restaurant. Nice, wooden accomodations on the inside. Beer cooler with a decent selection of Michigan beers in sixers. I didn't ask if these were to go or not. Around 6-8 taps of beer as well. I got two Shorts beers that were served in a frosted mug. I was shocked by this, as Michigan's craft beer culture is usually way ahead in this regard. The mugs were not full pints. Interesting combination of Thai food and pizza. Our table had both, and they were able to adjust the curry dish to be vegan. I had the Pad Thai, which was different than other Pad Thai I've had. The noodles were thicker, kind of like egg noodles. It was still delicious. I went for medium; that had a nice level of spice, but I probably could have gotten the hot version and been a little happier. I just had it with the chicken, not shrimp. Pizza looked good and fed one adult and a fourteen-year old child. The entire pizza was consumed on site. read more

After reading the reviews we were anxious to try the Pad Thai and we were so disappointed. The wide noodles got soggy very quickly and the chicken was very dry. They do have a nice deli of which I will come back for and maybe try a pizza but never the Thai. I really wanted to like it. read more

HIGHLY recommend the Thai food! I'm not one to eat Thai or Asian foods other than cooking at home, but this was AMAZING. I loved the shrimp Lomein and my husband loved the curry shrimp. The pizza wasn't very good though. Thin crust but not very flavorful or cheesy. I'd go to 9 Bean Rows or Roman Wheel for pizza. Service was awesome and the blueberry pie was the best I've had! Ordered a california thin crust pizza and fall rolls for pick up. Ordering and picking up the food was smooth. For the food though - the pizza was dry and hard. And it said in their website that their food was fresh? The pizza crust definitely did not taste like it. I'd say frozen - probably even got freezer burn. The pizza sauce was lacking in taste and amount to cover the whole pizza. Now as I'm writing this I remember now which pizza it tasted like - Digorno!! They both have tasteless toppings and hard crust and that frozen food look. I'm so disappointed that I wish I just had ordered pizza from Dominoes or Pizza hut. Their fall rolls (chicken with lettuce) was fried and had a soy sauce dip with some herbs which did not really add any flavor to the soy sauce. I hope they come up with a different dipping sauce to pair it with the rolls because it did not complement nor enhance the flavor of the rolls due to being too salty. That's all. Terrible experience. We called ahead to ensure vegan options and were told "everything on the menu can be made vegan". Once we were there we were told that only one curry could, the rest had fish sauce. We had 4 young kids and asked for any non-spicy noodles with veggies and tofu and no fish sauce. They brought out a tiny plate of completely plain noodles (well after the adult meals arrived) for all 4 kids and told us we could add our own veggies and tofu (but didn't bring us either?!?) They eventually added tofu and veggies (no sauce) but it was far too little for 4 kids and people left to find food to make at home. The waitstaff and manager did not have a desire to make things right and seemed to blame us for our super uncomplicated "special order". On a side note, the veg and non/veg orders were not good. The green curry had giant chunks of ginger and lemon grass that needed to be spit out. The flavor was fine, but it was executed poorly. Would avoid this place. read more

I love to help support Mom and Pop shops and this one is awesome. Mom makes authentic and fresh thai food in the back and Pop runs the front. Do NOT expect to be in a rush, a) it's Leelanau where you can't help but sit by the Bay and watch your blood pressure drop and b) Mom and Pop probably can't afford an army of servers knowing the restaurant biz here only makes money June-Sept during tourist season. Recommendations: thai green curry shrimp pizza (they roast and grind the peanuts for the sauce!) - loads of cilantro, basil, red bell pepper, YUM. Ahi tuna salad, fish tacos and tom yum coconut seafood soup. The contrasting tastes and textures are divine. You'll eat with your eyes closed, it's so good. Promise. Had dinner here last night with 8 family members. It is clear that they are understaffed, and the waitstaff that we experienced are untrained (although pleasant enough). It took close to 90 minutes to receive our food, which was five entrees and 2 pizzas. We never got the appetizers we ordered without any mention of why from the staff. Pizza is passable for children. The chicken pad thai was likely the worst entree I've eaten in the past 20 years. The noodles were overcooked to a glue-like consistency. My husband enjoyed his beef satay. We live nearby so I guess I'll try it again, but my initial experience wasn't very impressive. We phoned in a takeout order for TumYum soup and fish tacos and were told that it would be 15 or 20 minutes. I was a little worried when it took me a bit longer that that to get down there, but there was no need to worry. Not only was the food not ready, it was like they had never had a customer before and didn't know what to do. Heck, I waited at the bar for 3 or 4 minutes before anyone even came out of the back and acknowledged me. Then it took the server quite a while to come up with the total due, furiously punching away at a calculator. After all that, another 10 minutes before I got my food. This less-than-smooth operational side could have been overlooked if the food was anywhere near as good as so many reviewers here claim, but it wasn't. Not even close. My fish tacos didn't taste bad, they just had virtually no taste. At one point I opened them up to see if there was actually even any fish in there. (A little, covered with breading, undoubtedly previously frozen.) My wife's soup had the same problem -- no taste. The broth may as well have been water. Well, either all those glowing reviews come from friends, relatives, and vendors OR they just had a bad day at Wines and Vines. I'll hope it was the latter and give them another try at some point. read more
