**UPDATE --** Where do I even start? I contacted Hawx to *pause* services. They said no. I told them I'd take the weekend to decide whether I wanted to continue at all, and that I'd follow up after. Simple enough. Instead, I received an email informing me I owed $200 for an "early termination" fee. I reached out to find out what happened -- and learned that someone named Trax had made the *unilateral* decision to cancel my contract. I had not made a decision. They had. So I told them exactly that: since *they* terminated, I'd be holding them to it. I refused to pay the fee. I didn't terminate -- *they* did. That means *I* wasn't in breach. *They* were. The bullying began immediately. They tried quoting and misapplying the law to intimidate me into paying. I continued to refuse. The collection calls followed -- persistent, repetitive, and completely unbothered by my repeated requests to stop. It felt like a game to them. They actually told me the calls wouldn't stop until I paid. I told them that would never happen since they breached first -- and they essentially shrugged and confirmed the harassment would continue. I requested their corporate contact information to send a formal cease and desist. They played games, but ultimately provided it. I sent the C&D. Legally, that should have been the end of it. Instead, I received a *taunting* email informing me they'd stop calling once I provided my attorney's information. That was the wrong move. I am an attorney, licensed to practice in the State of Texas. I am *definitely* not intimidated by a company with questionable tactics masquerading as professionals. I had already let their unauthorized practice of law slide. I was not about to let them attempt to coerce payment of what amounts to damages -- dressed up as an "early termination fee" -- for a contract *I* never breached. Let me be clear for anyone reading this: when *you* cancel a contract early out of frustration, you are bound by its terms. The same is true when *they* do it. Trax made a unilateral decision and created the very breach he apparently wanted to charge me for. That's not how contracts work. Furthermore, a cease and desist is not conditional. There is no requirement that I retain or identify an attorney before a C&D is legally effective. No one is required to hire a lawyer just to satisfy Hawx's self-invented prerequisites for basic compliance with the law. I saw red. I sent them a **Second and Final Notice** -- this time citing specific federal and state violations by statute: FDCPA §§ 1692e(10), 1692e(2)(A), and 1692d; Texas Finance Code §§ 392.302(4), 392.304(a)(8), and 392.304(a)(19). I outlined five directives, put them on notice of imminent regulatory complaints to the CFPB, FTC, Texas Attorney General, and BBB, and made clear that any further contact would be treated as intentional, willful, and malicious. All of this -- every bit of it -- because Trax decided to cancel a contract out of frustration and then tried to charge *me* for it. The bad reviews tell a strikingly consistent story -- the same bullying, the same pressure tactics, the same pattern of behavior toward customers who may not know they have options. My concern isn't for myself. I knew exactly how to handle this. Potential customers PLEASE READ! I hate long reviews and never read them, but please don't scroll past this one. I honestly cannot get all the terrible things I've dealt with within my two weeks at hawx down in a short review. I wish I had done my research on this company before signing my soul away to them. My sister recommended them and I regret being involved with them now. I initially called for wasps so they sold me their pro plan, which includes indoor and outdoor services. Later on I found out it's actually two plans, one for indoor and one for outdoor. This means that if you want to cancel, you have to pay two separate cancellation fees. At first I had no issues with their service. They were nice and informative during the initial treatment. They let me know if anything comes up to call them and that they would come out in between services as many times as needed at not additional cost. So this is exactly what I did when I started seeing roaches in my kitchen about a week after the first service. They said they would come out and did. During this second visit, the technician told me that I probably had these bugs already, but I had never seen roaches crawling all over my house likes this until after they sprayed. But the wasps that I did want treated are dead. I asked her if she could spray for them and she told me that the type of roach in my house isn't covered by my plan. She tried to sell me on a new plan and I declined. After she left, I called the company. They quickly sent me to the sales department where they told me that if I want to have the roaches treated I would have to sign up for an addition plan. That would mean that then I would be enrolled in three separate plans. They told me that this new roach only plan includes a $250 initial service fee for them to come out the first time for the roaches and costs about $100 a month. This is all on top of the plans I'm already enrolled in. It's also more than what I initially signed up for and currently pay. I was upset and asked to cancel. They transferred me to every department in the company until I finally got to cancellation. There they told me that each plan has its own cancellation fee and in order to cancel I would have to pay over $250 per plan that I am enrolled in. When I signed up the sales person had said it's $150 to cancel if I choose not to continue service and cannot complete a year of services. Now I'm being told differently. So currently my two options are: sign up for a new plan to kill the roaches they found (that are not covered in my current plans) and end up paying more than twice what I currently pay a month, plus a new initial service fee OR pay over $500 to cancel my services because it doesn't treat the new bugs that I now have and go elsewhere. I didn't think that this would be the treatment I would receive after enrolling with them. When you sign up they'll talk you up and are so nice, but they sell you a false price that you'll end up having to add onto with serval new plans. And conveniently then they end up charging you more than promised. Once you're enrolled they'll change attitudes quickly, transfer you to everyone else so they don't have to deal with you, hang up on you, and ignore you bc they already have you committed for a year so they don't care about performing a good job or about providing good customer service. Again unless you want to add plans then they're super nice again and the sales team is on the phone with you within seconds. Please look elsewhere for pest services. Can I rate lower than one star? I have never in my life been so frustrated with a company. We recently moved to a new rental house. After 3 days of living there, I was approached by a salesman, Reggie. He told me that since I was renting they would work a deal where it would be $25 for the initial service and then an additional $50 for the 4 additional "quarterly" services, instead of the original $89. When I signed the contract for the services, I pointed out that it said the $89. The sales rep, Reggie, again reassured that's just what it says and that is not the price it would be. Again, he was doing a deal since we were renting. Flash forward to our first date of service after the initial service. It was storming in the city so I called to see if they would still come. They apparently had already come before I called and completed the service. I thought this was odd since its been raining all day. How do you spray knowing that it won't stick and the rain will just wash away. My neighbor also told me that she saw them spray my packages on the porch instead of moving them. I understand this is a liability issue so they can't move it but why spray my packages with the chemicals? Lazy and rude. While on the phone with the company I double checked the price and was told I was charged the $89. I explained to the person on the phone this wasn't right and she transferred me to an account manager. I can't remember his name, which makes sense because he was not helpful at all. He told me that he called my sales rep and left a voicemail for him to call me (service and this phone call was on 9/11). This confused me because I thought what could the sales rep do over the account manager, however, I waited for the sales rep to call me. HE NEVER DID. On 9/23 I decided to call back to get a status update. I was transferred to account manager, Ryan. Ryan could do nothing but say I could cancel but still have to pay near $250-$300 to pay out the remaining service dues basically. I told him so I was lied to by the rep and you all can't do anything about it yet I am being penalized for the false information relayed to me by their company. He offered a $10 off my next service, which is nothing when I was originally offered to only pay $50. What is fishy to me is that the sales rep never called me. They know they messed up, yet they will not do anything about it. I would not have signed up for the services at the full price fee because it is not in our budget. However Reggie talked me into it with the deal. That I never received. Never have I ever been so disappointed and frustrated with a company to where I leave a review. This is unprofessional. Please do not have sales reps that lie to boost their sales record or commission. Please have account managers who will actually solve situations and not beat around the bush. Literally both managers I spoke with sounded like they sit an office all day and twiddle their thumbs and have no idea what is going on. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, ITS A SCAM.
